My experience at the Enterprise location at 2301 Bladensburg Road, NE this morning was extremely disappointing. I reserved a compact vehicle the night before and informed the representative that I would arrive at 7:30 a.m. when the branch opened. At the time of the reservation, there was no indication that this would present any issues. Upon arrival, however, I was informed by the Enterprise representative, Mr. Danny Calder, that no compact cars were available and that only a Jeep remained on the lot. Although I was told I could take the Jeep at the same rate, I expressed concern regarding the comfort and practicality of driving a much larger vehicle. I also explained that if I was not comfortable with the Jeep, I would return to exchange it for the compact car I originally reserved. Throughout the interaction, Mr. Calder was noticeably nonchalant, impatient, and unprofessional. When I inquired about the 15% discount for rentals over three days--something I was instructed to request when making the reservation--he stated that he would need to cancel and rebook my reservation because it was "booked online." I clarified that I had spoken directly with a representative the night before and had not booked anything online. When he requested my ID and insurance, he handled the documents in a manner that appeared hesitant and uncomfortable, which further contributed to the unprofessional tone. I also asked about the federal government discount that I have consistently received in the past. He initially stated that they "don't do that," which is incorrect, and only applied a 5% discount after I presented my federal government ID badge.Despite having a reservation for an early pickup, I still had to wait for the Jeep to be cleaned, causing additional delays. This undermines the purpose of reserving a vehicle in advance to ensure a timely and efficient pickup. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism, the failure to honor my reservation, the inadequate discount, and the overall customer service I received. Additionally, Mr. Calder did not assist with adjusting the seat or demonstrating basic vehicle functions--assistance that the Pentagon Police ultimately provided when I arrived at work. These are tasks that should have been addressed at the time of pickup but were not. This experience could have been handled far more effectively, and this location has significant room for improvement. This has been the most disappointing experience I've had with Enterprise. I picked up the vehicle this morning and drove directly to work at the Pentagon. On my way home--only about twelve minutes into the drive--the fuel light came on. It is unacceptable and unprofessional to provide a rental vehicle with virtually no gas. This issue requires immediate attention and corrective action. read more

I went to a different Enterprise before the Glover Park location and had a terrible experience. These guys turned my impression of enterprise from a negative one to a positive one. Kayla White was truly the rudest employee I have ever come in contact with. I have been renting cars with Enterprise for as long as I have been driving but this was such a sour experience that I honestly don't think I can stomach renting again from Enterprise. If you have to use Enterprise, the Bethesda location had a much nicer employee working there and every other location that I have rented from is preferable to the Glover Park Hotel location with Ms White. Not only was she incredible rude when I rented the car but she didn't return my call, overcharged me, and has been entirely unhelpful about making sure to return the money to me. I rented a car last week from enterprise, they upgraded my car to a larger car, and I asked if it smelled like smoke, they said they couldn't tell. Well, the car really smells like smoke, but since I was only taking it for a week I didn't complain, but it was stretched out to 20 days so they gave me a credit. Impossible to find - it's hidden in the Glover Park Hotel. It's tiny and extremely understaffed. The car they gave me smelled awful like wet dog and the hood was popped when I got it so it kept dinging while I was driving and I didn't know what was wrong. They refused to drive me to my repair shop when my car was fixed and refused to compensate me for my Uber to the repair shop even though a previous enterprise I went to nearby did drive me to the repair shop and compensated me for my Uber when they couldn't drive me there. Their system was not properly synched with the repair shop or with my insurance because it said my car was a total loss and cancelled my rental. They called me when I was with my family on Thanksgiving and out of town to let me know that my rental was cancelled. When I went to return the car they had multiple enterprise signs directing customers to the garage under the hotel for rental car return. When I called to ask them to let me into the garage they refused saying that they were not allowed to let customers into the garage. They asked me to back up from the garage in a super narrow driveway which was nearly impossible. Overall horrible experience. read more

This experience is far from professional. I got into a car accident Apr. 2022 and was referred to this location by my insurance company. First of all, I did have an approval from insurance company to rent a SUV. Enterprise lack of communication proceeds to rent me a smaller car (a Chevrolet Malibu). Without even mentioned the change. It was just a this is what we got type of answer. Approximately 4 days later I was stopped by a police officer claiming the tags of my car are expired, to which I responded that this is a rental. My car being 75% full with gas now has to be returned and exchanged for another car. In this inconvenience, I forgot my very expensive sun glasses in the middle compartment of the Chevy, realizing at the end of the day, I left them in the car when returning it. I called, the lady that rents the cars said she was going to look in the car and call me back. 4 hrs later I called her back and she claimed the "guys" who parked the car didn't find anything (I said, well maybe I will go there and ask her to let me see in the car so I can find it myself). When I arrived at noon, she said the car was rented and for that reason I can not check in there. She claimed she called the new renters and they confirmed no sunglasses where to be found in the car. So, apparently Enterprise do not have any lost and found service. Then, when I returned the SUV I gave it back 1/4 less than half tank. Thinking since I gave almost full gas tank from previous car and all this inconvenience back and forth (with gas prices sky rocket) this would be just fair. No, the lady then proceed to charged me 4 gallons extra = $30 USD. Really, this has been the worst customer service. I was inconvenienced multiple times and the front desk lady was so nonchalant it's so frustrating. read more

Beware of this location. I have used Enterprise in the past with great luck, but this branch screwed me. I rented a car for all of 5 hours. I drove it to a friends house in Maryland, and back because it was cheaper than cabs. I returned the car with no damage to their "secured" lot after hours. I have a witness who agrees nothing happened to the car while in our possession. But two days later I get a call that there is damage to the hood. I have no recourse, no way to fight this. Enterprise will not help, and the local office is saying I did it. If indeed there is damage it didn't happen in my possession. It happened in their secure lot after I returned it, but according to them, it's still my responsibility. Thanks to this experience I'll never choose Enterprise again. read more

Very unhappy with the service at this Enterprise branch. I booked a car to pick up on a Saturday and even had the foresight to call them and confirm it would be available. They said they were expecting me and everything was set. When I arrived at the branch, it was very busy with only 2 employees trying to handle multiple rentals and returns. After waiting about 30 minutes to finally talk to someone, I was told that there were no cars available in the class I had reserved and that it was going to take 30 minutes to have one delivered from the airport branch. The only things available were a huge gas-guzzling truck and a huge gas-guzzling SUV. I had reserved a compact car for the fuel economy and the truck and SUV completely defeated the purpose and were unacceptable. A car finally arrived about 1 hour later. The manager promised a 50% discount due to the inconvenience, which seemed reasonable. I was doubtful it was going to be applied because she had already forgotten she had said it when we were given the car. I had to return the car after-hours and sure enough, when I received a call from the office confirming they had the car, the price of the rental wasn't discounted as promised. Two calls to the office over the next week to fix the change went the same way: a manager was not available, an employee promised a credit would be posted by the end of the day and I would be contacted, and both times it didn't happen. I finally had to go through my credit card company to dispute the charge. I never should have had to go that route if it would have been charged correctly or fixed either time I called. Quite a bit of unnecessary hassle. I suppose I'm lucky they didn't charge me the whole price of the car like the woman in Nova Scotia earlier this year. read more

We rented a car for the long weekend and it is filthy inside- they had us inspect it while in a parking garage, and it looked fine on the dark. Then we took a peek in daylight - trash, grime, ick. We also showed up to find out that although the reservation said unlimited miles, we would have to pay an additional fee to drive outside of certain states. That policy is crazy for such a dense area, of course we are driving somewhere outside of dc that's why we are renting a car! Plus, no one seemed to understand how the mileage counting worked- basically I think they expect everyone to pay the extra 10/ day. It was a complete bait and switch - we are already at the counter and it's a 3 day weekend so what can we do? This Enterprise location is excellent. It's in the giant Marriott Hotel complex right next to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro stop. Staff were very friendly and flexible with pickup and return hours. We got our car around 9:30 AM and dropped it off just after 10 pm, hassle free. There are lots of car rental facilities in the DC area with similar prices, I imagine, but in terms of accessibility, ease of reservations, staff, and location, I'd choose this one again in a heartbeat. read more

I booked a rental for the month of December, and the first car I was given was dirty and clearly had not been washed. After driving it for about 10 minutes, I realized at high speeds the engine was making an uncomfortably-loud cyclical noise. I exchanged it for another rental car (which was also dirty) and in fact had dried food spilled inside all along the gear shaft. If not for the fact that this was the second dirty rental I was offered in a row, I would have refused. But at that point I figured if the car ran I could simply get it cleaned myself. It did, so I did. Despite the other glowing reviews, I simply can't recommend this location. Because they're adjacent to the Marriott Hotel and don't have a lot of space, they don't have a dedicated car wash, and they don't seem to do a proper follow-up on returns. read more

My husband got time off of work last-minute so we could escape to the Outer Banks for four and a half days. Praise to the vacation gods. Now I am very devoted to Zipcar, and I love their hassle-free business model. I had to do a lot of number-crunching, but I realized that for a road trip around 4 days long, Enterprise is the way to go. This location also has awesome customer service. Like 1,450,000x nicer than the airport or (eek!) Union Station experience. The Numbers: Through Zipcar, I could get a Volvo for 4 days for $374.00 that included the price of gas and 180 miles a day. For an approximately 300 mile trip, we'd be within our allotment. This car was parked less than a mile from my house, and I didn't have to do any paperwork to pick it up or worry about additional costs. Problem was, we had to have the car back by 8:00pm on Sunday night because Zipcar doesn't allow reservations longer than 96 hours. It's a car-SHARING program, after all. I priced out the cost of the Enterprise rental car, and it would be about $350.00 for a standard car and damage waiver and unlimited miles, but that would not include gas. Was it worth about $75.00 to me to keep the car until the next day so we didn't have to rush? I decided it was. I braced myself for an awkward, long car rental experience. The Customer Service: Instead, everything went really smoothly, and everyone I spoke to was awesome. I made my reservation online, and the office called within an hour to confirm. They also told me it looked like they would only have an intermediate-sized car available (a step smaller than the standard), a pick up, and a van. But they assured me that I would pay what I expected to pay, or lower for the littler car. I selected the intermediate car, a Chevy Cobalt. A few hours later on the same day, I walked up to the grand property of the Marriott, where I saw the Enterprise sign prominently displayed on an exterior door to the right of the main doors. I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes getting squared away, and that was even with all of my questions trying to figure out how I was going to make out better at Enterprise than with Zipcar. The young man who helped me really worked with me and didn't get the least bit impatient. He then brought the car around to the front of the hotel for me. Feeling spoiled, I zoomed away. The car handled well throughout and had only about 8,000 miles on it. It was also nice to be able to drive around OBX without worrying about how many miles I had racked up. I recently rented a car from Enterprise and it was a smooth experience. I booked online (don't forget to search for discount codes) and when we showed up at the rental office we were given a brand new car with only 17 miles on the odometer. We rented one of the smaller cars for a week and it was a little over $200 after taxes. There is a 200-mile daily limit if you plan on driving out of the area so keep that in mind when setting your budget. The man working the counter was very friendly and there was no wait picking up the car. I was able to get in an out with my car in less than 10 minutes. The vehicle ran great, as a new car should, and we didn't have any problems. They do give you a number to call if you have an emergency or need roadside assistance but luckily we didn't need it. Dropping off the car took a bit longer. There was only two people working and it took 30-45 minutes. They did a pretty thorough damage inspection but it is done in a garage with poor lighting. If they do say you damaged the car I'd request to have it looked at outside before agreeing how extensive it is. Overall I was pleased with Enterprise. I was treated fairly, the price was reasonable and the location is convenient. read more

The worst experience ever! I booked online a standard SUV. My daughter and I got there and the guy tried to offer me a minivan for $20/day more or a Toyota RAV 4. I realized that he was tricking me saying that the standard SUV was actually the RAV4 he insisted that the RAV4 and standard SUVs were the same. I know the difference between a standard and a small SUV ( who doesn't?). Finally I rented the minivan for a lower price ( it was all dirty and in the dark you barely could see if it had some scratches) when I was leaving, the manager comes to me apologizing and offering me THE STANDARD SUV that I had booked in advance!! I love this enterprise location! I started renting from enterprise when I discovered that it's actually less expensive that zipcar per day and I've been VERY happy with my experience since. The team of staff really is fantastic there, especially the manager, Pablo, who remembers me by name now and has been very accommodating, ensuring that I have a smooth experience in my car rental. Also, the Calvert Street location is the only one to offer after hours drop off, which has been very convenient AND it's very close to the metro. My only other DC enterprise experience was with Nationals Park enterprise and I DO NOT recommend going there unless you live close and you can use their pick up service. My only recommendation is that if you're renting from any enterprise, be sure to bring a copy of a utility or cell phone bill to verify your address if paying by debit card as it isn't clear on the website that you need to do this and you cannot rent a car without this proof. The first time I went there I didn't know I needed this and it made things more complicated to rent that day but every time since, I've had a wonderful experience! read more

Very fast pickup, much quicker than the airport, which takes a long time b/c staff trained to upsell ridiculous coverages and extras. Dropoff took 10 mins instead of hte usual 2 mins at the airport because i had to drop off the car, go to the desk, wait my turn, and then wait while the desk agent went out to the car to check for mileage and damage. We arrived a few minutes after they opened and there was already a long line. In total we did have to wait about 25 minutes- however the staff was great! The main guy (football player like) was so funny and really moved the line along while letting everyone know what was going on- which i appreciated as i was so antsy. The second worker lady ran everyone to the cars and and through the check list. I was even upgraded to a better car for free- and the nice lady helped me get it out of the very tight parking lot (thank you!). We decided to return the car back after hours. Upon driving up to the garage it said it was full and to go around to the front of the hotel. When I got there that garage was full as well. A nice bell man at the hotel lifted the gate for us and told us to leave the car anywhere since the garage was full. We literally had to leave it parked in almost the middle of the aisle- and not in a spot (yikes). Thankfully the team at Enterprise understood and we were not charged any fees. They have you inspect the car in the dark so they can rip you off. It took almost an hour for them to get a car ready that I had booked well in advance. And the icing on the cake: the car had trash in the trunk. You may notice that Enterprise responded to this review. I can assure you that this was all bullshit and nothing was ever done about it. I rented a cargo van from the D Street Enterprise and had to return it to this one. I didn't get the insurance, and foolishly didn't inspect the van prior to renting. When I returned it to this facility, I was informed there were dings on the bottom near the door that had never been reported. I and my friends know that I touched nothing and nothing touched me, but I was still liable based on my understanding of the contract I signed. I accepted that. However, they get 1 star because the price for the dings came out to $980 and they harassed me after only a few days. I returned the vehicle and they informed me of the ding on July 29. They said the manager would call to discuss, the manager did not call. I received a letter from Enterprise claim to verify my information, and I called them shortly after to do that and asked for the price, but they wouldn't give me the information. I waited on the bill and received it on August 16. A few days later I received another letter notifying me of the claim. Both the original bill and the reminder were post marked the same day, August 16. After consulting my insurance, I paid the bill online on August 29 (exactly 1 month after the incident, and 13 days after the bill was postmarked). On August 30, they call my boyfriend's number (the emergency number you provide) and then me to ask about payment. I told them I paid the previous day and I checked my credit card to verify. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Enterprise took their precious time sending me the bill, and then acts like I haven't cooperated by being relentless in mailing and calling me and my loved ones. I gave you your money so leave me alone! NEVER AGAIN! read more

Usually I rent from Hertz but there was an Enterprise office in the hotel where I was staying. I made a reservation on August 2 for September 1 (Corolla, Versa, etc). When I went to pick up the car I was informed that they had had a rush of walk-up rentals that morning and only had two vehicles left--a monster Chevrolet Suburban and a v-8 hemi pick-up truck. Why were walk-ups given cars that were reserved? What kind of business operates this way? Never again. read more

This was a great place to go when James M. was the manager. The business has gone down hill since he left. Although the current manager seems to try and make it a good experience some of the staff have serious attitude problems and carry an "us vs them" mentality towards the clients. I have witnessed this behavior towards other customers while waiting for my car and have experienced it myself. My wife and I have been loyal customers of Enterprise at Marriott Hotel location in Woodley Park location. That is until yesterday, October 19. We had made a reservation two weeks earlier for a special rate under an open insurance claim. When I went to pick up the car, the manager refused to honor the rental agreement and wanted to charge me for 4X the contracted rate, apparently because of a tight vehicle availability due to overbooking. The manager was belligerent and disrespectful. I did not appreciate the last-minute change in an agreed-on contract and was left with no other option. I was disappointed and frustrated with his blatant refusal to honor a business agreement and am going to take my complaint to Enterprise for compensation. Rented a car on our trip to DC and it went very smoothly. I called in the day before to make a reservation just in case. This Enterprise is right near the Marriott. They will pick you up if you're within their pick up zone so check on that. Once we got there it took about 5-10 minutes to get the car, very fast.
