This is my second time at this location and every time it has been more than pleasant. This most recent time I returned a vehicle from Florida. It had a lot of damage that the Enterprise in Florida told me not to worry about. Upon arriving in Birmingham, the agent there Morgan, who was helping out from the Inverness location told me how to make sure to protect myself about vehicle damage. She was one of the most knowledgeable and kind agents I have had the pleasure of working with. Do not look to this Enterprise branch for business travel. I gave them the chance to earn my business but in the end, all they did was lost it. I reserved a standard vehicle (Nissan Altima or similar) online but on-site I was presented with one of two options: A seven passenger minivan that was almost empty on gas or a Malibu "in the back" that was smoky. Now I was stuck on the spot trying to outweigh the two options on which one I should have my client ride around with me in. I chose the mini van, only to realize down the road the AC vents are broken, and this vehicle was clearly cleaned by a person who didn't care. Let me start by saying that I have been a HUGE fan of Enterprise. However, I have been sorely disappointed recently. I have reserved a car to rent only to go to the office to pick it up and find out that they don't have any cars available. Why does it allow you to reserve a car, if they don't KNOW they are going to have a vehicle for you. They say it is based on returns. I get that. But I reserved a truck (last week) for pick up next week. I called today to confirm the reservation, and I was told that they currently didn't have any trucks. The representative told me that someone would call me Friday to tell me if they would have a truck for me. I get that vehicles are hard to come by these days. And I get that rentals are based on returns. But COMMUNICATE that when someone makes a reservation. I was counting on a truck for a trip that I MUST leave for on Wednesday. Now, I don't know if I will have anything or not. Not good business, Enterprise. And I have been a Number 1 fan and have recommended countless people to rent vehicles with your. read more

These people are unscrupulous. I traveled 10 hours today on a bus and took a uber to this rental location. Traffic was bad and I was slightly later than my reservation time so they gave my rental to someone else and didn't even try to notify me and had no other vehicles to rent. I was beyond devasted. I was able to find a nicer vehicle from Avis across town and they were very kind to me. read more

I've rented several vehicles over the past few months (post-COVID) and always received excellent service from Alex and his team at Enterprise-Homewood. Even though that location is usually busy, the staff is friendly and attentive; also, the cars have all been clean and appropriate to my prior selection, and Enterprise regulations are explained thoroughly. Finally, all COVID protocols have been observed, including a properly-masked staff and social-distancing markers. According to Corporate Customer Service, their new policy is the following. When you pickup a car, whatever credit card you use to secure the car, will be charged immediately the following. Price of car: Let's say a small car for a week. $218.20 Cost $200.00 Security Deposit $11.20 Vehicle license fee $5.88 Rental Tax $435.28 Total I was charged $435.28 on my credit card, that was held for a week until the car was return. Thanks for a response, however I have always paid with a debit card. The only difference appears to be the location. I normally rent from the Vestavia AL area with no problems. It is an up scale community. I have always paid with a debit card. I am paying 100% up front, leaving a deposit and I have been a customer for years. Only when the Vestavia location was closed and I went to a location in a lower income area, was I asked for a check stub and two bills. I never had a mgr. tell me I need to prove I pay my bills on time to rent a car. read more

Out of cars...again. This is the worst location for trying to rent a car even with an online reservation confirmation. How is a company so consistently out of the product that's the cornerstone of its business? Customer service here is rude and condescending, clearly valuing corporate accounts over everyday customers - this is why they have no cars. read more

I simply love the level of consistent customer service at this location. The staff is great and polite. I feel welcomed each time that I rent a vehicle for a road-trip from Enterprise. They get your reservation processed and get you out on the road as soon as possible. It also does not hurt that they frequently upgrade customer vehicles free of charge as an added courtesy! read more

Had very bad experience with these guys. Made a reservation on a compact car on 30th September (33$). Got a call saying 30 mins before, saying they dont have it and had to choose standard size (they charged 39$, didnt have the courtesy to give this small upgrade for the one i reserved). Made me wait for 1 hour due to some car cleaning issues they had. I rented it to return at same location but i told that i might return the car (since i was not sure)at different location (Georgia) and they said i will be charged additional ~100$. They charged me 205$ (100$ extra) just because i didnt give them a clear advance notice. In addition they added privilege and license tax and recovery surcharge (7$). So i ended up paying $250. I stay just couple of minutes from this rental company, that was only reason i rented from them. I will never again go to these guys. Stay away from them. Better make a rental from a different one. read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE AT THIS ENTERPRISE LOCATION! This past December 11, 2015, and this past weekend April 29-May 3, 2016, and then again with another car (compact), I and my brother Tim have received very nice and very professional and very honest service from all of the staff at Enterprise Rent a Car (Enterprise Leasing Company-South Central), 400 Palisades Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35209-5153. John Ashley kept his word to get us a credit due to our account and John Ashley and Melissa Scott and D. Matthew (Matt) McCoy and some other guy (not sure of his name, but he's a black guy who is really nice and asks how we are), all were so nice when we rented a car this past December and the same people have been very nice during our current car rental needs. I have dealt with Matt mostly this time around, but John and the other guy and Melissa have made sure to ask how I and my brother are doing as well, and Melissa showed me how to work the car I had for this past weekend and Matt showed me how to work the car that we got this morning. In addition, when Cory (or is it Corie) worked there, she was super nice as well, but she is at the Inverness branch now. In addition, this past December, Kendall was very nice to us, as was Joey Carrigan (I think he's in Colorado now) was very nice to us then too, and Louise (I think the name is correct) was also very nice to us this past December too. Or Louise might have been an employee at the downtown Birmingham Enterprise, whom I think helped us as well, but Louise was nice as well. In fact, we've never had bad service with Enterprise, BUT we have always had really nice honest service from Enterprise Rental Car. Ok, so in July of 2017 these guys had some "on fleek" customer service. :) I was worried that this particular location would not have our requested vehicle due to it being a smaller site, BUT I also understood when I booked the rental that they cannot guarantee a specific model, just a vehicle type. I was encouraged to call a day before and ask if they could hold a Nissan Rogue for us since that is the SUV we preferred. They informed us that one would be returned the day we were scheduled to pick up our rental so we waited until 5:30-ish (closing time for that location is 6pm) to insure that that particular model was available. However, the individuals renting the Nissan Rogue were late on returning the vehicle and we were given a Jeep Compass instead (bummer). They understood our disappointment and asked that we call back in the morning to see if the Nissan had been returned. Since we were using the rental SUV for a trip starting the next day this option worked for us and we called as soon as the location opened the next day. We were thrilled to find out the Nissan Rogue had been returned the night before and Enterprise offered to hold the vehicle for us. It was cheaper than plane tickets for this particular trip and we enjoyed some road trip fun. Also, they offered unlimited miles, so there were no hidden fees, just remember to ask about insurance when booking to know what the total price will be. read more

I scheduled a reservation for enterprise on Wednesday for pick up on Friday. I also required enterprise to come pick me up, as my car was in the shop and I could not get to the rental car location. I called Enterprise to confirm my pick up time and location and each time I spoke with an associate, I was repeatedly asked the same questions and it did not seem as if the previous associate left notes to prevent this from happening again. Additionally, despite scheduling this pickup time and confirming the address, Enterprise was over 30 minutes late and did not come to the address I specified. Furthermore, the car was not available for another half hour when I finally arrived to the branch location. I would rate the customer service at this location to be 1 star and the associates working there to be completely inefficient. If at all possible, I would also recommend utilizing a different branch if you find yourself within the area. read more

After a failed attempt to rent a car from a competitor, I was lucky to find Enterprise in Homewood. Their rates were lower than the competitor's, and even though the insurance is a bit expensive, it's great coverage and peace of mind. The representative who helped us was friendly, knowledgable, and explained each policy and charge. read more

If you rent a car from this location you should photograph it extensively because they will claim that any slight ding or rub that was on the vehicle when you rented it was damage from your rental and they'll attempt to charge you a lot for it. read more

Terrible customer service! Called to make a reservation on a Friday afternoon because our car was in an accident.. Only to be told that they're super busy and probably wouldn't be able to pick me up, so he changed it to Saturday morning.. So, the next morning I was waiting for a call and didn't hear anything.. So I called them and was told they don't do pick ups on Saturdays, well that would've been nice to know the day before when I called and made it very clear I needed a pick up! The girl who answered seemed concerned and was trying to work things out.. Then she put me on hold and a really rude gentleman got on and I had to repeat everything I said to the other girl.. Then he asked me what time should they expect me to arrive?! What?!! Did you hear anything I just said?! He seemed less than concerned and I said I could walk, but decided not to since it's like 90'+ outside! So I changed my reservation to Monday.. Then I realized the Hoover branch was open on Sundays, so I decided to get an Uber to Hoover since their customer service alone is worth it! I have used Hoover in the past and was very satisfied. I will never use Homewood.. Even though insurance was paying I still deserve decent customer service! read more
