Enterprise rental, relatively straightforward at the desk as it is in the terminal. No waiting which was nice and a person took care of the whole process for me instead of having to go to a machine. One downside is that for the rental cars themselves you actually have to walk outside through two garages and downstairs to get to where the cars are parked. There an attendant will take your contract and bring you to the right car, at which point they take you over to the exit and the exit takes a while. They take photos from six different cameras and six different angles and take your ID and your contract again. I actually spent more time waiting at the exit for them to wrap up than I did at the counter and at the pickup spot in total. Maybe they want to figure out a way to speed that up because it shouldn't take that long to take pictures and inspect the outside of the car. They do have an early check-in which was good. Rented a one way compact car from this Fort Mill location to Charleston Airport, for 2 days and a few hours. Friendly and fast check in process. The kind and lovely ladies gave me a free upgrade to small SUV, a Mitsubishi Outlander. The car had less than 2000 miles on it, very new, and ran perfectly...especially the air conditioning which is a must in a Carolina Summer. The gas wasn't quite full, so the lady told me to return with about the same. I returned the car with a 7/8ths full gas tank. When I arrived at Charleston Airport, the Enterprise employee said it was notated that the gas only needed to be 3/4ths full, so he was going to refund me $30 for the extra gas. Wow! I was blown away by that quick and easy refund. Overall rather expensive for $305, but that was my fault for booking later rather than earlier. read more

After arriving at CHS I went directly to the rental pick-up area as I did not see the signs pointing to the rental counter. I met with Patrick and he was super nice with checking me out with a car. He also let me take a look a few of the Jeep's available and let me pick the one I wanted. That was super cool of him. The paperwork was completed quickly and I was on my way. As for the Jeep... it was a newer Unlimited Rubicon rental with low miles. It was clean with no damage and worked perfectly over 10 days and 2000+ miles. No complaints there. We ended up extending our rental 1 day and the process was very easy. We got a text message with a link allowing us to modify our booking if need be. It was simple and quick. Over the weekend, I returned a rental car to the Charleston International Airport location, and accidentally left my 90-year-old mother's wheelchair in the back. I take full responsibility for the oversight. After celebrating her 90th birthday with over 200 friends and family, I was suddenly informed of a flight delay due to the weekend weather and had to scramble to catch an earlier flight to make it to a film shoot. In the chaos, I forgot the chair had been placed in the back of the rental just before I left for the airport. I have now called multiple times, been told the issue would be escalated, and that someone would reach out "by end of day". That was days ago. Still no call, no follow-up, no action. This is not about a lost phone charger or pair of sunglasses. This is about a 90-year-old woman without the wheelchair she depends on to move through her day. And it's about a company that has been completely unresponsive, even after being clearly informed of the urgency and stakes. For years, I've been a loyal Enterprise customer--I even purchased my last vehicle through Enterprise Car Sales and was about to buy another. That relationship is now in jeopardy because not a single person has shown the care, competence, or basic decency to help resolve this. I received a call after I landed in Fort Lauderdale Florida from leaving Charleston airport. It was to inform me that I left my wallet in the car and that you were willing to mail it to me. I'm super grateful for the call and opportunity to retrieve my wallet. I asked if someone could pick it up and was told yes. To provide their name and they needed to bring ID with them to pick up. My sister got it and shipped it to me the next day. I received it the next morning. Not even 24hrs after it was left. Take an Uber/Lyft to a local branch, it will be significantly faster and likely less expensive. I rent cars 5-10 times a year. I have rented from this enterprise location on multiple occasions. The employees are fine, the cars are fine the operations are in my opinion the worst I have experienced. All of my rental experiences have taken more than an hour to rent and depart. I have experienced the car I rented not being available with no options other than to rent a much more expensive luxury vehicle. My last rental took 41min of waiting at the gate to leave with no way to exit. Keys in hand... but no way to leave. I would not recommend renting a car here. read more

Picked up the car in Charlotte, NC and returned it in Charleston SC. We were able to pick out the vehicle we wanted from the class of car we reserved. I had heard that you are more likely to get in an accident in a white car, whether it is true or not, I bum out when I get assigned a white car. I checked in online, so was able to walk right out to the lot, a friendly face directed us to our car options. The car we got was brand new (385 miles) and fun to drive and experience all the new features. Both the checking in and return of the car could not have gone any smoother. The Enterprise location was at the airport in both locations, so we did not need to take a shuttle. At the Charleston airport there was a bit of a walk, but not bad. The gentleman who greeted us when we returned the car, was super friendly (at 4 am) and accommodating. I thought we were just going to put the keys in a drop box. We forgot to fill the car prior to return, the amount charged per gallon was only slightly higher than the going rate We needed pick up and drop off at different locations, when I shopped around there were not a lot of options. Enterprise was the lowest of all of them. Overall a great experience. read more

BEWARE. I bought liability insurance (13$ a day) and then got into a tiny fender bender. Covered, yes? Nope! It is impossible to talk to anyone, I have literally called 12 numbers, including HQ. They will not give me the insurance info to give to the other party, and they will not start a claim. Now there is a collections agency after me threatening to suspend my license. I talked to someone around 9:30 gave them my license number and he told me I was set just bring in my license and deposit. He never mention there were no vehicle. We were coming back from a cruise and needed a rental so we could spend a day in Charleston and the booking was fast and easy. Price was very reasonable as well. We got an upgrade from economy to compact. The Toyota Corolla 2020 was a decent car to drive around with and the gas mileage on it was efficient. Good services and very friendly staff at the airport. What a breeze! But I could see how it might not be for some. You see, our bags were some of the first to pop out of the baggage claim vault. Right after, we followed the signs to the rental car area. Only two people were in front of us in line, and then a business traveler walked up and had priority, of course. So once we got to the front, we turned around and there was a massive line behind us. Yikes. The guy who was working was super friendly (and originally from Jersey too!) and quickly gave us the keys to a Civic. It was raining out that day, but it didn't take long to find the car. On the way back a few days later, we filled it up, parked in the car return, and it was promptly inspected. Such a simple process that I might just start renting cars more often! read more

9/2014 Picked up our rental car from the Enterprise in downtown Charleston and dropped it off at the Charleston airport. Pros: 1. The Enterprise at the CHS airport is located IN the airport so you do not have to take a shuttle to the terminal! It's only a 30 second walk! 2. Friendly nice employees Cons: 1. The cars are REALLY dirty when they give them to you. there was a sticky residue all over the armrest. 2. They will NOT pick you up on a Sunday. they do not stand by their motto. 3. I rent cars all the time and I rent from various companies and locations. A relative is preparing a trip and asked my advice on renting a car, and my thoughts were immediately taken back to my check in at Enterprise in May of 2017...hence my late review. My issue wasn't with the vehicle, we rented a van for our mountain trip. My relatives and I waited for someone to return to the check in desk for 15 minutes. We picked up the vehicle that evening, and there wasn't anyone at the desk. Okay not a big deal, the gentleman arrived, didn't apologize and mentioned that the airport policy was to charge a deposit equal to the amount of the reservation IF the drivers drivers license is from the same state the rental location is in. In this case my ID is SC and I was picking up in SC. My rental estimate without optional services was $300 so my deposit was $300, and this is WITH using a credit card. He stated the only way to bypass this was to rent from a location that wasn't at the airport. I looked over my agreement and there is and was no notation of special deposits, and I never had this to occur when I rented before. If this was something new it should have been stated at the time of booking NOT pickup. It was late evening when we learned of this, and we were scheduled to leave at 6 the following morning so we were not content but had no other option but to proceed with renting the vehicle. Due to this, I now know not to book a reservation for pick up with Enterprise at the airport in the state that I reside. We checked in with other car rental companies that mentioned that they do not charge a deposit associated with same state ID pickup but a rental last minute was just as expensive. It wasn't so much that the funds were not available to me to use due to the additional deposit but more so the fact that this new deposit wasn't disclosed in my agreement that was emailed to me when I booked my reservation. If I walked in with a debit card or cash, I could fully understand the deposit but it was a Mastercard, accepted virtually everywhere. I will not rent from this location again but I will rent from other enterprise locations not affiliated with the airports in my state. read more

Arrived to CHS on a Wednesday afternoon flight and had to rent a car for the trip. Once I turned the corner to the rental counter, I saw that the line was about 10 people. Since there were 3-4 people working, I figured the line would move fast-WRONG-the line was extremely slow, I waited between 30-40 mins. Checked out and headed to the lot to find the car. After waiting so long along with a flight delay, I was just ready to go. Drove the car about 20 miles to where I was staying. Next morning, I notice that there are 2 pieces of trash left in the vehicle from the previous renter-I'm annoyed but I clean it out. I crank the car to drive downtown for a client meeting. IMMEDIATELY the low air/tire light comes on. I don't have time to deal with this before the meeting but I have to then figure out how to fix this. I was given the manager, Laine's card to contact with any issue. I call a local number for this location-it rings and rings and rings. I tried the number several more times before moving on to my next option. It's absurd that a fully staffed desk can't answer the phone here!!!!! I ended up taking the car to another Enterprise location but this was SUCH a hassle, wasted a ton of time and in my opinion, could have completely been avoided had they just done routine maintenance after the last renter! I also want to note that although only one tire caused the light to come on, all of them were low.....The only good part of this experience was the quick return process. read more

They don't answer the phone. Called 7 times to discuss grace period options for vehicle return. Terrible business practice to not pick up the phone. What if something had happened to the vehicle and we needed to reach them. They don't even have an office accessible to customer at the airport. When we spoke to the lady taking in the vehicle, she said Yea there are plenty people of working, but they have a habit of not answering the phone. I always rent from enterprise when I fly into Charleston. They are quick and my vehicles are usually ready. This time I think they may have been overbooked. I reserved a midsize truck because I love going to the beaches in South Carolina. I keep my beach gear in the bed of the truck the entire trip so when they offered me a Nissan Maxima instead of what I reserved I declined. I instead chose to wait for what a reserved. They didn't have any available so they said they would upgrade me for free. Let's be honest. You didn't have what I wanted so you chose to first downgrade then when I wouldn't fall for it you upgraded me. I travel a lot and I always rent with enterprise. They don't do anything for free. I ended up with an F150 which was more than I bargained for and I was concerned that I wouldn't like it, but I enjoyed the ride and the gas mileage was really great. Overall everything worked out and I will continue to rent from this location. read more

Do not ever rent from Enterprise Car Rental. I returned my rental that was covered by my insurance and I opted to upgrade and pay the difference. When I returned the car they told me the bill was zero. I found out today they charged my credit card 358.00 and never sent me a receipt The girl at pickup told me I could change to a Suburban Once one was available and I went through 6 different customer service representatives and they would say call this store or that store they have one to swap out. Come to find out they were liars. Just like at checkout and the vehicle was returned clean and more gas than when I picked it up. Their vehicles stink and rattle. Please be ware and rent elsewhere unless you like liars and thieves and stinky vehicles. They try to steal your money secretly and lie. I am a local business owner and know customers should be treated better than I was talked to and treated at the Summerville SC and Charleston SC area They deserve zero stars. read more

I get strangely excited about renting cars. Enterprise Rent-A-Car at the Charleston Airport lived up to my expectations and got me rolling ASAP upon arrival. 1. LOCATION: It is always a bonus when one lands at an airport and the rental car facility is RIGHT inside the airport. Not a shuttle, no bus, no hefting bags across multiple bridges and parking lots to a far flung corner of the airport abyss...but right in the airport. This is exactly the case at CHS, and about 12 steps from baggage claim you'll find the shiny new car rental facility. After settling you rental at the appropriate counter, you'll proceed out to the parking lot and pick up your car. It's all within about 500 feet, magical. 2. EASE: Easy peasy! About 2 minutes and paperwork squared away and I was off to the lot to get my car. Once in the lot (you'll find the correct tent for you rental agency) they'll hook you up with a car. The Enterprise guys were friendly and very quick. 3. WHEELS: I truly enjoyed our Black Jeep Cherokee with under 1k miles on it. It was sparkly and worked out well for our crew (3 adults, 1 baby with a carseat and a boatload of luggage). 4. RETURN: As easy as the pick-up. Wam, bam thank you Enterprise. read more

This branch and subsequent dealings with their 800 number has ruined my trip to South Carolina. I cannot believe that they can conduct their business like this. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. Bottom line, we rented a car today, and it died on is. We have spent the whole day talking to idiot representatives. At one point they reported they had no record of our complaint. This was after they had already paid for a taxi to get me to a business meeting. I called to report that the car would not start at 2pm. They kept saying that a replacement car was coming. Cue to 8 hours later and still no car. They told me I have to wait until the morning. So I lost a vacation day today and probably another one tomorrow and they don't even have any remedy. They are liars, it's that simple. They do not care about service. Will never be renting from them again, and will be telling my company to close the corporate account. Because of a storm, our flight was cancelled. We had to get back so I called Enterprise. They were absolutely the best. Friendly, prompt and efficient. That's all good. The hard part comes when you have a problem. We rented one way and had to drop the car at a closed Enterprise location in another state. I called the Charleston Airport location and they noted the time of my call and my drop off on our record. This saved me at least a day's rental.
