Went to pick it up and they said they had rented the minivan I reserved to another group several days before. Tried to give us a very dirty Durango which supposedly seated 7 but was very tight and didn't have any storage. My family of 6 along with my 82 year mother with bad knees would never be able to get in the vehicle. We were leaving in 10 hours to travel 1,500 miles and didn't have a car! It was our first vacation since 2019. The girl at the counter told me Avis didn't care since they could provide, what they considered a 7-passenger vehicle, so not to even bother contacting the company. I walked away without a vehicle and it almost completely ruined the vacation plans we had been planning for almost a year! Fortunately, I called Enterprise rental in Dartmouth Massachusetts as I was literally sobbing in the New Bedford airport parking lot and they had a minivan ready for me in 20 minutes. Their customer service was amazing! Thank God for Enterprise or I would have had to cancel our trip and lost a lot of money and disappointed my children. WARNING: DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS!!!!! Took the Accent as it was better gas and we had a long trip. What a piece of junk! It was dirty both inside and out. There was dried up something all over the passenger door, it looked like maybe hot chocolate? Yuck! It was so light I felt like I was going to blow off the highway. I get it the car is an economy car so nothing special. But wow! There was no offer of any price adjustment for the fact that we ended up with a lower value car. Lots of excuses that the were not given enough mid sized cars... There were 2 on the lot when I was picking up, I was told they hadn't been cleaned yet and couldn't go out. Well the car we got wasn't clean so what difference did it make? We were just told to go to another location and trade out. Um, we have a schedule too and don't want to go chasing all over the place to get what we asked (and paid for) We ended up returning it a day early, we couldn't wait to get out of this thing. We rented from another place in Providence for another trip and had good luck, might try there again next time and skip this place, I shouldn't have to clean the car myself even if its cheap.
