Anderson's Rental, located just a short walk from the Oak Bluffs ferry terminal, is the PERFECT place to get your gear for a fantastic day biking the Vineyard. They have bikes for every age and experience level, as well as helmets, bike locks and maps of the island trails. Customer service is outstanding, the prices very reasonable, and the inventory fairly extensive. We showed up without reservations on a weekday in June and had no trouble finding bikes for our family of 4. A wonderful experience from start to finish!

Unmaintained bikes and slow service…read more It took 45 min to pick up 2 bikes and a trailer. The person helping us forgot to give us the second bike. Then, their bikes are unmaintained. The first bike had a broken gear shifter. The second bike they served us had a broken seat, to which they replaced the seat with a seat that had the cover cracked. Finally the trailer had a flat tire which we didn't discover until after we bikes a few miles. The guy also "cleaned" the trailer with a leaf blower. Kind of genius but not really the clean we were looking for. Also note the sign says "Martha's Vineyard bikes" so you may miss it if looking for Pedago

Tony was great! We were interested in 4 regular bikes, but I've always been interested in trying an…read moreelectric bike. Apparently, Tony sensed this because he negotiated an amazing deal for me. We rented two electric and two regular pedal bikes -- seamless rental process, good price, great service. They even held our bikes in the shop until we were done eating breakfast nearby. When we returned to retrieve the bikes, Tony made sure we were all set up -- adjusting the seats for each of us, explaining the electric bike controls, and providing a basket and a saddle bag for us to carry our bags. Overall great experience -- we explored the east half of the island, riding to Edgartown and then south to the beach -- the lock was helpful for the beach time, and restaurant visits. We returned the bikes before they closed at 6 pm. no problems. highly recommended. cheers.

But only complaint or should I say concern is I'm not sure how well maintained the Slingshot rentals are. I've never driven one before, so it's very possible that what I experienced driving is just how they drive, but to me a few things stood out. - slow acceleration; needed to really push the pedal to accelerate past 25/30 MPH. Luckily most of Newport is 25 MPH speed limit, so it's not like there is much of a need to go fast anyway - BRAKES; again this I think is more just a slingshot thing...might have nothing to do with maintenance. But as someone who never drove one before, I was very surprised at how bad the brakes were. The vehicle decelerates pretty rapidly when you let of the gas, BUT you also have to anticipate and ensure you have enough distance to brake and safely come to a stop. I still had a ton of fun and amazing time cruising around the city and taking in the sites. It was very fun to drive down toward the Cliff Walks.

Just one of many examples of how blatantly rude they were, was when I questioned some of their "rules", one of the employees said directly to me with disgust, "YOU AMERICANS"!! This is Martha's Vineyard but you feel like you're in a third world country when dealing with them. We walked away with a feeling of relief and headed one block to Sun 'n Fun. Their staff was amazing, friendly and American! Stay away or suffer the consequences. You've been forewarned.

All places on the island are the same rate, spend your $99 better by walking 20ft down the road to the next shop, they have nicer looking rigs. One would figure same price, same quality but this was not the case. When mentioning my issues after returning, the employee said it was my fault I didn't call in and report leaking oil or no kick start, she did not care I had no phone single in that portion of the island.

After swim classes the facilities are always being kept up with. The women's locker rooms can be a little slippery but it doesn't help when people ring out their bathing suit on occasion in the locker area. Swim caps are mandatory in the pool even if you have a young child that isn't going to dunk under water. Bring a fabric one or the front desk sells the plastic ones ( and goggles) . Classes: As many as you would expect from any gym. In the mid afternoon usually there's less classes but there's a room upstairs that is used as a multi purpose room for stretching etc ( the same one for classes) opens up. Spinning on the first floor . In the summer some classes fill up so you need to sign up. Free weights , cardio , machines( upstairs) : a great selection of all the above. A few cable weights, smith machine, stair climber and all the cardio machines you could ever want. The area is also well maintained by vacuuming . A wall of cubbies for storing items instead of the lockers downstairs. ( Yes, there's an elevator). Plenty of personal trainers. Childcare: during the winter there's child watch on certain days for kids under the kindergarten age . There's a after school program and they offer school vacation and early closing from school care. Summer camp fills up incredibly fast as do all the camps. Swim lessons for sign up. Aquila - cafe on the 1st floor with snacks ( high protein options), smoothies , coffee etc . They sell cakes ( make to order) , pies around the holidays. Parking: in the front and right . Additionally there a lot near the ice area as overflow for the Y.

Aquila is an extension of the coffee shop/gift shop also located on the Aquinnah Cliffs!! Great locally roasted coffee at both locations!!
