Due to the poor reviews, I tried calling twice before arriving to confirm I'd have a vehicle ready. Despite 4 people at the front desk who didn't appear very busy when I arrived, my calls went unanswered. The service I received upon arrival, however, was some of the friendliest ever from a car rental agency. If my car had been ready, and had a full gas tank, I would have given 5 stars. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my car to be cleaned and pulled off with a 1/2 tank of gas. It irks me when car rentals do this and I feel like I get ripped off every time since I only have to return the car with a 1/2 tank which is nearly impossible to figure out when refilling. It was also an inconvenience as I was driving one way for several hours and had to go fill up myself before hitting the road. The car was newer and presented clean. I was promised at noon I would have a car. I didnt. Then I was promised at 3:00, I didn't. They told me even if picked the car up late in the day I would still be charged the full 3 days. I cannot say enough good things about the incredible team at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. After a long day of travel to attend a memorial service, we arrived at the airport only to find that the vendor we had originally booked with had no vehicles available, even though we had a reservation. To make matters worse, nearly every other rental company in the area was either out of cars or quoting us outrageous rates, some as high as \$1,400 for just three days. At Enterprise Rent-A-Car Joplin, MO, even though they were close to closing, the staff and management went above and beyond to help us. Not only did they find a vehicle for us, but they also personally transported us to another nearby location that had cars available. The best part was that they honored the rate from our original reservation, something they had no obligation to do. As someone who also works in a leadership role, I was truly impressed by the professionalism, compassion, and outstanding leadership displayed by the area and branch managers. They turned what could have been a stressful and disheartening situation into a moment of real gratitude. My family has used enterprise for many years and will continue to use it, HOWEVER an after hours drop box HAS to come back. It is incredibly frustrating and inconvenient to only be able to return during open hours. I have to leave work today in order to return my 1 day rental on time. Other locations have drop boxes with no issues of theft... upgrade your security system. You can afford it. Also, hire better interior detailers. I expect my rental to be SPOTLESS. Get a portable shampooer for light colored seats, it would do wonders. read more

This review is for the Enterprise on S Rangeline in Joplin MO. Please save yourself aggravation and possible stroke...go to any other car rental in Joplin. My adventure began when I called Enterprise a month prior to needing a rental while my car was being repaired. I spoke with Jamal, and told him I was taking my family on vacation and needed a car that would seat 8-9 with luggage. Jamal assured me he was taking notes and I would have no problem at all when I came to get my rental. I told him again I needed something big like a Yukon or a Suburban. He told me he couldn't reserve a specific vehicle, but he had in his notes that I needed a large vehicle. So, I go to get my rental, and we are leaving on vacation the next day. Jamal tells me that I did not mention needing a large vehicle because he would have had that information in his notes. I told him that I didn't know what had happened with his notes, but I did indeed ask for a larger vehicle that would seat 8-9. He then proceeded to talk down to me as though I was limited in intelligence, and asked me to 'just take a look at a Ford Explore to count the seats'. I was telling him that an Explorer wouldn't work because they seat 7. He replied that was the biggest vehicle that they had. At this point, my daughter joined the conversation and asked Jamal to call other Enterprises in the area to locate a larger vehicle. He became offended, and told me that my daughter was not allowed to enter the building or he would not rent any vehicle to me. Really? She hadn't threatened him or cursed at him...she had only asked him to do his job and find the car I was promised a month prior. I then took a few breaths and said that I needed a vehicle that would seat 8, how can we make that happen. He told me I could rent the Explorer or nothing. I reminded him that my insurance had authorized payment to Enterprise. He then told me that I could request the authorization be transferred to another agency. Then a customer representative says they will try to help find you a car that you should be receiving a call back shortly and no one ever calls. TL;DR: One way to this location, dropped it off, no fuss, was on my way. So my situation was a little odd, maybe. Though, this was not where I had picked up the rental vehicle but it was where I returned it. With that being said, it was a pretty easy and straight forward drop off. Parked the car, someone came out to greet me as I was walking in the door. For many years we have rented Enterprise vehicles for many different events. Was expecting the great service we have received throughout the years BUT this time it was a VERY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Rented a full size van a month early and the day we were to pick it up they called and told our family of 14 that the van was NOT available for us. Leaving us trying to figure out what we were going to do for a two day family gathering. They promised to call us back to see what they could do, again, this Enterprise location did not call back and left us to work it out ourselves. We do not recommend this Enterprise location or the staff that works with them... they don't keep their word or have the vehicle you want to rent on the day you want it! The price I was quoted online was $207 for the 4 days of renting a car.. by the time I was out the door The total cost was $800. Used to they would get 5 stars. But given that for some crazy excuse that they have a shortage of cars. Their lol is full unless they rent a lot of cars out. The prices have sky rocketed out of this world. I only rented from them until now. I would literally rent at least monthly. But I refuse to pay their ridiculous prices now. I realize that they are close to closing but to be so lazy as to pick up the phone and hang it up because I'm calling 10 minutes before you close is ridiculous. I have to modify my reservation last min, supposed to be picking up the car tomorrow but I need to change it to next Friday, not tomorrow. I've called multiple times, had to go through the entire menu and to have you pick up and hang up because you don't want to take a call 10 minutes before closing.... if I had any other choice I would use it. Very sorry service . The guy that picked me up was great. But as soon as I was there. They didn't care, They knew a week in advance I was picking up a vehicle at 9am March 8th. I had to wait an 1 hour and 1/2 to get in a mini van. I requested a small car. I was late for work. I feel they should have reserved me a vehicle instead they give the vehicles to the first person that walked in. Definitely need customer service skills and training. I have rented through enterprise many times and never had an issue. This location though is garbage. Reserved a full-size car for a 2k miles road trip with toddlers. Got to my reservation and they were very busy which was fine, but the car was being washed. We were on a tight timeline but were patient. We ran down the street to the bank real quick and came back in the time frame they told us to be back by, assuring us the car would be ready when we came back. When we arrived they had rented the only full-size car out, and put us in a compact. Told us that was the only car on the lot and if we didn't want it there were other customers that would take it. We had to get on the road so we had to take it. We got to our first stop in poplar bluff and went to their enterprise who very kindly swapped us for a full size. I might still rent through enterprise but I will NEVER rent from the Joplin location. I will gladly go to another town or another company. The customer service was horrible, and that's from the rude manager all the way down to the workers. Highly recommend you do business elsewhere. read more

We reserved a premium SUV that was supposed to seat 8 and have room for 7 bags. Husband picked up the car and when he got home and we started packing we realized it was a full size not the premium we reserved. Had to make it work as we were on a time frame and couldn't go back. When he returned the vehicle he asked if we were charged for the premium or full. Said we were charged for the full size not the premium we had reserved. At no point when he picked up the car did they tell him we were not getting what we reserved. The cost we paid for the smaller vehicle was what we expected to pay for the larger vehicle. If you had asked me 1 year ago I would have given these folks a 5 star review. I don't know what happened in the past 6 months, but this place has gone down the drain. The people are friendly enough and they have about the best price in town, which is why I still use them, but that's all they have going for them. My last several rentals the windows have been so dirty that the first thing I had to do was get glass cleaner and clean the glass. The last two rentals have been nightmares. Both was reserved weeks in advance, but when I arrived the class of car I reserved was not available. Maybe I'm not the brightest bulb in the box but what's the point of making a reservation if the item reserved wont be there? But Anyway, on one rental they gave me a free upgrade from a mid-sized to a suv which was all they had available. I know it sounds great but consider the fact we had a 500 mile trip, the upgrade cost us 25% more in gas. I returned the car 5 hours before the scheduled return time but got hit for a late fee and other extra charges. The other rental they was going to upgrade me again but I refused, so they downgraded me from full sized to mid sized with a discount which brought the price down to $2 less than if I had reserved a mid sized. After returning the car , I was emailed the receipt and noticed they hit me for a refuel charge even though the car had slightly more fuel in it when I returned it. They did fix the over billing it it strikes me as odd these "mistakes" happened on back to back rentals. Still they are slightly better than anyone else in the area . I recommend you go onto it planning on not getting car reserved and make sure you check and double check your receipt for any "errors " they might make. read more
