If you want to make epic family memories, look no further…read more I am not certain I can iterate the whole experience here but I am going to try: I'd like to begin by saying this was not our first time using a vacation rental; we have done so many times. Each experience through reading reviews, researching the property, and communicating with the property owner has been worthy of five stars. However, I'd give this one ten stars if I could. From the beginning, the communication and organization of our reservation, planning, and execution were easy, comfortable, and trustworthy. Upon arrival, we were blown away at the property, the facility, and OMG- the views! We had a group of six adults and seven kids and there was more than enough room. It is only 30 minutes to Marquette where we found a bit of a foodie-scene, shopping, hiking and mountain biking as well as any necessities you might need- Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. The mountain biking is remarkable - one of three areas we turned pedals while we were there. A half hour in the other direction you find Munising, Grand Island, and Pictured Rocks which you can research on your own, there is too much to tell of here but we hiked an out-of-this-world waterfall, and biked some super fun trails with something for the whole family. So, back to the Lodge... If you are coming from an apartment in the city, a farmhouse in the country, or living in your van, this place feels like home. Why? Because they have it all. Anything you are looking for in the kitchen, a legit coffee maker, comfortable beds (yes, comfortable beds), cozy corners and window beds for reading, trees for hammocks, deck space, a beach, a theater, a sauna, kayaks and paddle boards for rent (way fun!)... it's all there! Oh, and if you are a sunrise person, they have 'em. Maybe you are a sunset person, they have those too! North-facing onto Lake Superior, every time you look out it is a postcard-view! On our last trip we met a wonderful employee named Trevor who made our stay so special by giving us information about the university which our daughter will be attending in the fall. He also gave us wonderful advice about places to go. By far Trevor went above and beyond his job and was GREAT!

Hay thanks but isn't it housekeeping's job to make the beds and clean the room? Unacceptable!!! Now why did I rate our stay 5 stars? The manager heard of our experience and took action that demonstrated why she's the manager. She sent Caylib and DeShawn to our room to make the beds and clean the bathroom! They were perfect! Understanding that things don't always go right, it's nice to know that there are people that step up and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Our room preference (high floor/ end room) was granted - much to my husband's dismay... as he was carrying the tour back to the furthest possible point from check- eek. (We did move the bike to the other end for check-out & he was in a much better mood after that shorter trek.) The rooms were noted as renovated a few years ago. Had I not known going in, I'd have guessed 80s (as the hubby did when I asked him to date the last update). The ceiling is concrete & painted mauve, making for (much appreciated) serious noise reduction & perhaps a bit of a hospital or prison feel, if you will. The walls are a light gray, as is the furniture. The artwork (3 pictures) was oddly small (8x10) & hung oddly. They furnishings were, perhaps, excessive. To open up the space & reduce the crammed in strangely look, I'd suggest removing a couple of things. There was a wall shelf/ TV holder. Under that was a desk, literally pushed under, as was dresser. It looked as if the furniture was pushed back for cleaning, stacking it up. There was also a wardrobe, chair & table that slides over the chair (think tv tray). The room was exceprionally clean & in excellent condition. It was 3/4 bath with a large shower - no tub. The bed was comfortable & temperature control worked well. The pool & sauna are not to be missed! The location is great for accessing assorted things to do. All in all a very good stay. We simply have a different taste than the decorator did, apparently. We are platinum with IHG & booked directly, without using points.

One hundred of the sites have electricity. The remaining ten are tent sites. Prices in 2023 were $25 for a tent site, $40 with electricity, and $50 with full hookups. We had a very good experience as tent campers here. We were walk-ins on a Thursday night in late May, and were able to secure a site. (About half of the tent sites were already reserved). The girls in the office, both students at Northern Michigan University, were very helpful and friendly -- even giving us recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to visit. (Thanks to them, we learned about a unique Marquette food -- cudighi). The tent sites are clustered along the water, and each has a picnic table and fire ring. Parking is close by but not directly at each of the individual sites. The campground has well-maintained hot showers, restrooms with flush toilets, and paved roads. It has a beach, small playground, grills, and hiking/biking trails. The location is great -- about one mile from the Lake Superior Beaches. We also drove a short distance to do the short hike up Sugarloaf Mountain to the observation deck, and drove over to drive the Presque Isle Park Loop. Finally, the campground was relatively far from traffic and quiet, so we were able to get a good night's sleep.

However, this morning I am less…read morethan thrilled with the decision made by dispatch to force the bus to fall even more behind schedule by returning to the transfer station for a passenger who neglected to inform anyone that they needed to make a transfer. So now the regular passengers get to spend a half-hour or more waiting out in the cold to make the required transfers.
