Customer service was good. I didn't care for the quality of the car - it was still wet from a quick wash they did right before I picked it up, so literally I got into the car from the car wash area and I had to step over water on the ground to get in. I returned to the Matteson, IL Enterprise Rent-A-Car in late June, 2024 and rented a car for a weekend via Enterprise online. My reservation was confirmed the night before. I asked for a compact car, but discovered when arriving that there were none available at that time and I received a Chevrolet Malibu LT1 intermediate car for the same price. The alternate choice was a small SUV and I chose the Malibu. It worked out fine. It had just over 60,000 miles on the odometer and I noticed no mechanical problems whatsoever. The deal was more than fair. The Matteson Enterprise offices are at the end of a group of storefronts. Very easy to find whether driving or arriving via Uber. There is an entrance off of Route 30, a major highway and from the back which is much easier to enter and exit especially if one is driving an unfamiliar vehicle. Offhand I think they need more space to service and store cars. This was a busy weekend and I belatedly realized that I should have called the dealership directly to find out whether they had compact cars available for the time frame requested. Otherwise Enterprise continues to be my favorite rental car dealership in the area. Very professional staff. read more

Well let me just begin by stating the customer service was exceptionally on point, not sure what position Trenton holds but he is top tier hands down. I was reluctant coming to this particular location because of the reviews but I'm glad I came anyway. My experience was completely different, I was issued a Kia SUV, and after expressing my concern to Trenton I felt about driving that brand name he was very understanding and offered to switch me out in a day or because they weren't able to accommodate me that day. I returned on Monday and was given a different vehicle without any hassle. I must say I am super pleased and beyond satisfied with Enterprise in Matteson and will allow them to service me in the future. I would also like to thank Kenneth he was super supportive upon my second visit and went above and beyond to assure my next vehicle was properly cleaned and sanitized before issuing the vehicle to me. read more

Horrible Customer Service and poor quality products! Rented a vehicle via online reservation a month in advance. Upon arrival to pickup, was told that they were sold out of the vehicle size I selected. After someone just so happened to return a vehicle while I was standing there, they rinsed vehicle off and handed me the key. After exiting with vehicle, I found that vehicle was 2 years old with almost 50k miles and definitely showed its wear and tear, from a rough ride to holes in the floor. Upon returning vehicle, associate asked me how was it. And I told him the truth, horrible. He then tried to barter with me while presenting a possible discount that would only be giving depending on how I rated his service on a survey. Customer service is tied directly to surveys now?, I asked. He said this discount is! I later reached out to manger and regional manager with no response or remedy for this POOR Service! I made a reservation on line, and everything worked like clockwork. It was an unusually busy morning on Monday, each person was processed to satisfaction. All of the agents processed the requests quickly and thoroughly. This team of professionals were well trained and worked to their best both in person and on the phone. Rented a pickup truck for a trip out of town. Compared prices to Hertz and a couple other places. Enterprise beat 'em out by a landslide. I don't rent cars often but this location in Matteson seems well run and very professional. The only thing I find interesting is, if you ask for navigation, they bring out this gps from 10 years ago and tell you to place it on the dash. What? No OnStar? Nobody seemed to know. So we pull off and me being nosy me...I push the OnStar button in the cab of the truck and request directions. Would you believe OnStar turn-by-turn directions was active? Long story short...we saved about $13 a day btaking the gps add on but wound up with OnStar anyway. Winning!!!! -- BTW No pets allowed in vehicles. This in spite of the fact that some travel sites claim Enterprise in Matteson, IL is pet friendly. read more

Unprofessional and dysfunctional management. I needed a rental while my car was in the body shop. I booked the reservation over a week in advance. State Farm initiated the reservation with this location and I immediately received a confirmation from this Enterprise location. I picked this location because it was open on Saturdays. When I arrived there on Saturday to pick up my reserved car, they told me they had no cars. I asked why my reservation was reserved for me. I was told quote: "last night alot people walked in and rented cars." This place does not honor reservations made a week in advance and will rent your reserved car to anyone who walks in before you without a reservation, just for the quick buck, and they make no bones about it. This was the worst rental experience I've ever had . I booked a full size sedan almost 3 weeks ago and even got a confirmation call the day before . When we showed up at 8am our reservation time we were told that the location was completely out of cars . The employee at the desk proceeded to tell us someone would have to go all the way to midway to retrieve a car for us and she had no idea what car it would be or what time we could get it !!! We wanted to be on the road to Nashville by 8:30, this was so unprofessional and unorganized . She finally finds a SUV that we could take after waiting around for 30 minutes and missing our timeline to be on the road . Even though we wanted a car for low gas , we got stuck with a gas guzzler . We take the suv because we were in a hurry but the car had NO GAS , and is covered in bird poop . Lastly I'm apart of the emerald club and should be able to add additional drivers free or charge , they tried to charge me $10 a day . I have another rental scheduled next month and after this experience I think I may have to find company to get a vehicle from . This ruined my view of enterprise. read more

I requested a car that had not been smoked in when the reservation was made and I was told that my request would be honored. When I arrived to pick up the car, I repeated my request and explained that I was allergic to smoke. The gentleman that was waiting on me, went in the back and when he returned, I was told that I was getting another model than he previously offered. As soon as that left his mouth, the "manager" told him to come with him to the back. The person waiting on me flipped back to the prior vehicle because the manager said the detailers need to "hit" that car before I could drive it. When I got into the car, it smelled like heavy Febreeze. Five minutes into driving the car, I began to wheeze. The smell of smoke was coming out of the vents. I parked the car in my driveway and called them immediately. I was told that I would need to bring the car back. I explained that I was not going to put my health at risk to return the car. I called my insurance company because they were paying for the car. I had to get a breathing treatment after being in that car. I know that we live in a C-/D+ society, but when you choose to put someone's life at risk just so you can rent a car, it speaks to the content of your character and the company that you work for. I will NEVER rent Enterprise again! Their customer service is horrible, as the person that I spoke with on the 800 number told me that I would have to drive a car that would put my health at risk to get another car. I was told by the manager, Aaron, that I was not willing to work with them.......Really?!!! I am supposed to put my health at risk to return the car that you know should have never been given to me. SMH!! Allergies can kill! People need to understand that!! I know that the culture of this store will not change, as no one has yet to apologize for THEIR error. Watch this location for overcharges. I rented on a Monday morning and was picked up at a local body shop at 10:00 am. I dropped the car off on Friday afternoon at 5:30 to the same body shop, and called Meg at Enterprise to let her know. Meg is a nice person with great customer service skills btw, but dropped the ball twice on this one. The problem is, I was charged for a whole week, not five days. Meg said a manager must have thought I returned it on Monday. Nope. Where was the communication between the two? I also didn't get an itemized bill via email as I was promised. When I asked to speak to the manager I was put on hold, and then told she was in a meeting. Let's see how long it takes her to call me to resolve this. The customer service I have received is a disgrace. This location over charged me and they have been neglectful in refunding my money SINCE! I only needed a rental for day. I thoroughly expressed my concern that I would not be able to return my rental before closing of the Matteson,IL location and that I will need to drop off the vehicle at the downtown location (considering they close at a later time) and I don't want to keep the car longer than necessary. After thoroughly expressing this concern to the Matteson, IL location AND downtown Chicago location, the representatives at BOTH locations ADVISED to just drop off at the Monee, Il location and I will NOT be charged extra. Lo and behold, I was charged for THREE DAYS. The manager Jake, has been very neglectful with assisting me with this issue. I was in an accident and while my car was being repaired the insurance company rented us a van from enterprise. The young lady who picked me up was so nice and she was on time. There was a bit of confusion at first because the insurance company put the car under my husband's name but the manager was kind and figured everything out and I was in and out of the office within 25 minutes. On the way home I noticed a faint yet weird smell from the vehicle. I wasn't sure if it was from the products used to clean the car or not. However, when I got home and installed my Children's car seats, I noticed a bunch of pet hair in the rear of the minivan. And realized that might have been the smell. I called immediately and the young lady apologized. I am sure I could have made a big deal about it and requested a new car, but who has time for all that? No one in my family is allergic, so we just kept it moving. When I dropped the car when my vehicle was finished, I was checked out within 20 minutes and a nice young man drove me to the repair shop. I had the car for over 14 Days, and I didn't have any mechanical problems. On April 8th 2017 I rented a vehicle Enterprise in Matteson Illinois the price was reasonable for 3 days. the Enterprise was going to be closed by the time I got there so I was instructed to just leave the vehicle at the dealership where my vehicle was being repaired. I was a bit worried, but the young lady said no it's okay you can leave the vehicle there we will take care of it in the morning. So I left the vehicle there picked up my vehicle and went on my way. I received a phone call from Enterprise on April 18th stating that I had an outstanding balance, and that I needed to call them and take care of it I called back and waited on hold for approximately 15 minutes and I decided to just drive to the Enterprise and speak with the young man at the front desk. To make a long story short they never close out my vehicle and they thought I still had it so I was being charged an extra 6 days for this vehicle this is the last time I will ever use Enterprise . And I never got an apology now the charges were reversed but my money is being held hostage for 3 days until I will be refunded for the six days service ever. TODAY I'm waiting on a friend who is renting a car, it took her a lot longer than usual. Tried calling her and she didn't respond. I call Enterprise and EMPLOYEE Jessica answers the phone I ask if my friend is there and she says yes and I ask if I can speak with her and Jessica Puts me on hold. I wait 4 minutes phone hangs up, I call back Jessica answers again and I tell her I'm just trying to see if my friend is there and I waited 4 minutes she puts me on hold again before I finished, okay I'm holding I drive 8 minutes to the Enterprise location walk in with phone in hand listening to their messagw about how respectfully they treat their customers and a bunch of other hog wash. So i directly tell Jessica that it was rude and i have been on hold almost 11 minutes total and it's disrespectful, she picks up the phone and calls the police and tell them she has a belligerent customer that won't leave. I ask to speak with Manager so then I see the manager Matt walk in and ask to speak with him he walks right pass me and goes to his office, then when I hear her continue to lie on me I tell her she's a lie and just dumb so manager ask me to leave. I wait a few minutes for police then when I am driving down the street they put their lights on me I pull over. Office ask what is the problem I tell him the story show him my phone phone so he can see what I was saying and he Tell me to call ENTERPRISE CORPORATE OFFICE OFFICE AND TO REPORT THEM. Do not rent with this company over a Holiday of any kind because they will close on the days that you want to pick up and drop off the car, forcing you to pick it up a day early and keep it an extra day. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to do this. The last Van I rented had serious acceleration delays which made driving through the West Virginia mountains in the winter a really exciting trip. (Not that it wasn't already). read more

Had to come to this location at the last minute after another rental company in which I had a reservation for a full size car weeks in advance only had compacts available. So I booked a full size car for this location....same day and called and was told they were available. Mind you, I had an 8 hour drive and was already set back an hour. Arrived at this location and the lobby was packed...about 8 irritated customers in front of me. It took 45-50 minutes before it was my turn and was told that the biggest car available was an intermediate size. Although annoyed I took the car so I could be on my way. Fast forward to the return 3 days later (today). I showed up not soon after opening (745am) to drop off before work while my husband was outside in our personal car. There was one customer at the counter with a very nice female employee with braids who was also there when I picked up the car. A male employee came to take the paperwork and keys from me, no greeting at all. He walked slowly to the car to check for damage and mileage and proceeded to daydream outside of the car for a few minutes before finishing his inspection. I was clearly dressed for work and was in a hurry since I had to take the train downtown. After waiting 5 minutes and seeing the male employee move super slow (the car was only parked 2 spots from the front door) I complained to the female employee that he had no sense of urgency and I needed my receipt. she explained to me that she needed the info from him but would start on my paperwork. He finally comes back in still walking super slow and when he was asked for the mileage and gas level proceeded to give the wrong answer. Me knowing that I was given the car with half a tank and returning with 5/8s full I had to relay that to the female employee just so I could get out of here. Never rent from this place if you're in a hurry. The two female employees were great both days but they clearly need more help. read more

I rented from Enterprise over several years over the time but this is the worst experience I ever had when I picked up the car they wash the outside of the car but they didn't clean the inside the car stopped on us within one week 4 times and then they tell me I have to pay for emergency roadside service really on top of that there was drugs in the car I went to keep clean out the car in the previous renters of a car must have been trafficking drugs so I called the location and let them know and they tell me okay well you can keep the car and we only going to charge you for certain amount of days of the rental that's what I was told because I had previously before this finding the drugs I had extended the rental then once finding the drugs I'm like what the hell is going on they didn't clean out the car so with that being said if I had a got pulled over in that car with drugs in it with my family me and my family would have been going to jail and Enterprise act like they don't care like nothing matters this is the worst location in the worst service ever and the managers are all liars read more

I had a reservation for 10 am today. When I called to arrange a pick up, I was told it would be 30 minutes. Five hours and three phone calls later to Rick, he didn't contact me at all. When I called the corporate office to resolve the issue and get a car, Charles simply said all he could do was file a complaint and the general manager would contact me next Wednesday. It is currently Friday. I finally reached Rick at 5:44 after I telephoned the branch over a dozen times. They picked me up. I realize this was hard on them too because it is the beginning of a holiday weekend and everyone wants a car. I try to be understanding because it's tough for everyone. The annoying thing is to hear commercials while you wait on hold that tell you how much they care about customers. Just saying it doesn't constitute customer service. You have to perform the service, even in difficult circumstances. At least they picked me up. read more
