I do not recommend! I reserved a rental through my insurance. Someone was supposed to pick me up from the collision center. I couldn't reach anyone on the phone. They abandoned/ghosted me at the shop! That Hertz! So, I called up State Farm and had them get me a rental ASAP through Enterprise in Alsip within the hour. This has to be the worst place I have ever need to rent a car from. They have one employee working, and he doesn't seem to be able to organize him self or the situation. There are at least 6 people waiting for service and the phone is ringing off the hook and there is no one to answer it. This place is a joke. They told me to step up and be helped then proceeded to help someone else while I was sitting at the desk. They ask questions about place of employment without explaining. They attempted to swipe my credit card with out notifying me for what they were swiping. They also did not have all of the info in the system for my reservation, but called me to tell me that my reservation was ready. Give no information. Hope to never need to use them again read more

Absolutely awful customer service. I reserved a car well in advance. When I arrived on time, there was no car available. To get a car, I had to drive the porter over 3 miles to a local service station so he could drive it back. When I received the car, it smelled foul of cigarettes. I complained, and I was told that I would be "taken care of" for the smell and for going out of my way to get the car. I was told not to fill the car with gas as compensation... however, I received nothing in writing stating this, and the contract read that I had to return the car with the amount of gas that was recorded when I received the car. I tried to contact the company no less than three times to get the remedy to the issue. They did not give me a receipt, they did not reduce the bill, and they did not return my phone calls. I finally spoke with the agent on the phone who told me that he said not to fill the car (again, against the contract) and that he would do nothing with the bill. The corporate office was also not helpful. I STILL don't have a receipt. I won't be renting from Hertz again... and I urge anyone to stay away from this one. Obviously, from the other recent reviews, Hertz corporate should be looking at this location closely for their level of customer service. read more

I was recently in a accident. The other party was at fault. The other drivers insurance offered me a rental to compensate while my vehicle had extensive repairs being performed. The rental was for the entire repair timeframe which upon pickup was unknown. Was told don't worry about it just return it when you get the call your vehicle is ready. Returned my rental about a week ago. Was accused of bringing my dogs in the rental car however I have two German shepherds and a Siberian husky. The minimal hair was from my clothes getting in and getting out. If my dogs were in this vehicle they wouldn't have been able to see the seats it would have been all dog fur. Now I have a debit pending for $415.00 and hertz informed me it was a gas fee for being dropped off on E! I have attached the gas station receipt showing I indeed did fill the vehicle as shown. The customer service was terrible from the moment I picked the vehicle up to the point I dropped it off. Stay away from this establishment. Upon picking my vehicle up it was not completed and resulted in me getting another rental from Enterprise the same day. They were wonderful! read more

Update to my review. Hertz has reached out to me, a Laura, Ian, and Richard. 1st wanted rental agreement #. Then a week later asked if I had receipts for what I had to spend. Then a week later asking for a picture of them. And here we are a week later, nowhere! I replied to their messages right away, you would think the same would come from them. Should not take a week each time to reply to me, with a different customer service rep. I am certainly not worried about the few dollars being credited back to me, its just a matter of poor customer service all around. I will cross Hertz off my list for future rentals. read more

Very very poor customer service. First off, Erica is great and so is the car porter (older gentleman) However, the level of inconvenience that we experienced by the branch manager and her very tall but rude male coworker on 7/6/17 was unreal. We were in an extended rental contract for longer than 62 days and was told that we needed to bring the car in to re-write the contract and change the license plates (no problem, right?) Well, upon arrival, we were told that the vehicle needs another oil change. (Sounds like there should be reasonable accommodations for a customer that was unexpectedly inconvenienced) NO. The Premium car was held hostage and we were told that either we rent a car half the size or return home without a car... :/ There was never an attempt to call another location to get us in the same car class, nor was there any type of discount offer, nor were we given the chance to get the oil change ourselves for the car that we returned! We had no chance but no leave with no car. Returning an hour after Hertz Crestwood opens the next day, guess who is driving the same vehicle that we were told that we COULD NOT leave with? THE BRANCH MANAGER HERSELF! iPhone charger, Express bag and all. Looks like she wasted no time taking the car home after we were HORRIBLY INCONVENIENCED. We will NEVER return to this location under an circumstances. This complaint will be escalated to Hertz Corporate and I will be updating this review in the outcome. Horrible customer service. I had reserved a car a month in advance. I was told I wasn't on their daily list. I had the printed paid comformation. I was told I must have changed it that day Which I did not. They did not have a car so I was sent to Blue Island. I was told the car I was getting was the same size and I should be happy because it was a nicer car. Once I got to Blue Island I had to wait well over on hour. We could not get waited on. There were 2 people in office that kept telling us to wait. There were no other customers at that time. Finally a third employee, Calvin came in and waited on his. He did apologize, the only person to do so. He had to complete our rental agreement and then go and clean the car himself. Once we finally got the car it was way smaller than what we were told. We could not even fit all our stuff in the car, plus 3 small people did not fit in the back. Once we got in the car they was no moving. I tried multiple times to call customer service. They were no help at all. Will never use Hertz again!!!! read more

This rental place is horrible. We went there because that's where it insurance company sent us. The guy and girl at the desk were rude acted like we were a waste of time because they were ready to leave. The girl was on her personal cell phone. When we returned the car they said everything was good and then charged us for 3 extra days and charged it t I my card almost 2 weeks later. They were rude when we called and asked about why and would not let us speak to a manager or five us a number to get a hold of someone to discuss the matter. DO NOT GO TO HERTZ TO RENT ANYTHING. The employees at this location act like they own the entire parking lot. I am a customer of a gaming cafe in the same plaza and the Hertz employees pull cars up all over the place, including the handicap parking spot (the ONLY handicap spot in the entire parking lot, which my father has the right to use when he joins me since he has a placard). Had to get a rental from them after we were rear ended. Dealing with an accident and having to arrange our schedules due to something we didn't cause, and being out our car, was difficult as it was. The girl working in the office was rude and unprofessional to myself and another woman in the office who was renting a vehicle. Upon calling today to notify them of the drop off, I brought it up, and the man on the phone was like, "Yeah, she's like that sometimes," and then proceeded to stand up for her behavior because they, "have to be clear on the rules." Rented a SUV in November 2013. I made reservation online 3 weeks prior, and checked in online a week before rental. When I arrived on a Saturday morning to pick up vehicle, the SUV was there and the final process was very fast and streamlined. All he had to do was verify the info I entered online. He was very professional and proficient. 2 days after I returned the vehicle, I realized that I forgot to remove my I-pass transponder. I assumed I would never see it again. I called the Crestwood office, not expecting any results. They located the vehicle and removed My I-pass transponder. When I picked it up, there was a different guy working that day, and he was just as professional and courteous as the first guy. My experience with this location was very positive. I strongly recommend the online reservation and check in process. read more

Worst customer service. I don't even yelp, but when a person get any type of service. You should also be explained what services you are getting. I have my own IPass and wasn't explained that I could use that in the rental. Nor was I told there's over a $5.00 fee for each day you use "theirs" anyway. I take fault for not reading the contract, but just am upset that they don't want to tell you things like that and now I have to come out of pocket for something that could have easily been avoided. Beware!!!!! Your life will be in danger if you rent any of there cars. Just rented a car December of 2016 and everything was fine until I got to a stop light. I pushed on the gas and the car jerked forward so hard I almost hit my head in the steering wheel. Was almost to my destination so I decided that I was going to continue on my trip. Big mistake. Car would continue to jerk anytime I get to a stop light and when you get to a stop sign the car starts to jerk so severely I thought the car was possessed. Car even hesitated in the middle on an intersection . I called roadside assistance....they were no help....basically told me oh well....called the location for a refund and was told sorry as well. I will never rent with them again....Don't bother wasting your time!!!! Ended up dropping there raggedy car off to them ( grey ford focus) and got one from enterprise. This place is the absolute worst. I had to have a rental for my mother when her car was being repaired. This was fine, then I returned the car. A month later I get a charge for a missed toll 2 days after I returned the car. So I call hertz and explained this and told them, they tell me that the missed tolls are a different company and its "not there problem" and they flat out refused to help. SO I have literally spent hours trying to rectify a unauthorized charge that is ONLY their problem, because they did not close out my rental agreement on the proper date. This is so frustrating, I would NEVER rent a car from HERTZ ever again, but seeing as how I was treated by the CRESTWOOD, IL location, it shows HERTZ needs to check on their franchize employees. read more

ZERO STARS...Reserved a Nissan Frontier online. Had a reservation number for the reserved vehicle for weeks before our trip. Day of pickup for the previously RESERVED vehicle (see where I am going with this!) rep called and claimed to leave a voicemail 2 hours and 22 minutes before our reservation pickup time to inform me they had NO VEHICLES to offer. Arrived to pickup the truck and he again stated no vehicles (like in kind) in the entire state. Asked what they were going to give me. Offered an AVEO. Then decided they had no vehicles. AGAIN, weeks old RESERVATION. Manager was useless. Absolutely useless. Plus side-ENTERPRISE in BLUE ISLAND found a great vehicle pretty quickly. Hertz is an absolute DUMP. read more

I have never been so disgusted in my whole life. The car that i rented was a new chevy very nice. But and a big BUTT because that is what the car smelled like! The windshield was full of bug guts and the inside smelled like a combo of butt and cheeseburgers with grease all over the inside door handles and all over the car. The cars they rent are not a problem. But damn can't you take a 10 minutes to wipe down the car with and clean it properly. How nasty i had to buy clorox wipes and clean the entire interior of this filthy car before I put my kids in it. Totally disgusted and will never ever recommend or go here! read more

I've booked with a lot of different rental companies and always had problems. Never had any issue with Hertz. The blonde lady there (name starts with a K but can't remember full name) is always super helpful. She helped me book a last minute reservation and cleaned the car out really nice for me even though it was just dropped off and she was pregnant. Made a reservation weeks in advance for a full size vehicle to be picked up when they opened at 730am as I had an 8 hour drive ahead of me. Got there at 735 and there were 2 customers ahead of me both with a reservation for full size cars. We were told that were only compacts available. When I inquired why I wasn't notified before close the day prior that they had no car and why aren't accurate inventory levels kept I was told that fell on upper management. The customer service rep called 4-5 other locations in the area but they were all sold out. I told the rep I was driving the car to Canada and she offered for me to take the compact car to valparaiso, in (out of my way) and make a switch to a full size there. After I stated that I would be okay with doing that as I really needed the bigger car she also stated that I needed to provide gas for the compact. Why do I need to pay for that gas to drive an hour out of my way and then return a bigger full size car to this location three days later? I would already be doing hertz a favor moving around their inventory because they screwed up. I stated that I was not ok with that option. After not offering a credit or alternative option, I asked them to cancel my reservation because I needed another car asap and went to a competitor. The customer service here is horrible and I will never rent from this location again. I also posted a review on their Facebook page the same day and it was deleted. Go figure. read more
