these people went into my bank account and withdrew 220$ without my permission (4 months after returning rental). Evidently my insurance didn't cover all the costs, and they felt that it was ok to randomly extract money when they wish, unbeknownst to me. Had to file a dispute with my bank which was approved. They are shiesty with money.. They did this here and there with other smaller costs during the same timeframe too. If you give them you're debit # i'd advise to get a new card afterwards. If they can find any reason to additionally charge you even months down the line they will go into your account and take funds.. -The people working the desk were polite, but their corporate billing is ran by scoundrels read more

The agents called me to ask if I wanted to renew my contract for another day, and then proceeded to try and charge for another deposit fee, so it bounced back from my bank. They immediately called me and said if I couldn't provide a different card number, I couldn't keep the rental! They didn't even give me the time to find out WHY my bank bounced it back- they didn't care. If they had given me 15 minutes they could have tried that same card again. The staff is rude and unprofessional. What an inconvenience to customers who don't have multiple credit/bank accounts to throw around. We reserved a van to drive to Disney. The company called the day before to confirm our reservation, when we showed up the next morning there was no van, only a midsize suv. It left our family scrambling to take our own vehicle so as not to miss out on our family vacation. We got an I'm sorry and no warning. We will not use Enterprise again. read more

This enterprise location is fantastic. I travel for work every month and rent from here. The staff and manager are fantastic. My pick ups are hassle free and the shuttle service from home is a huge plus. For the negative reviews these people must be impatient and are the now now now kind and nobody else matters but me. I ended up at Enterprise when I brought my car in for repairs at the Gerber Auto Collision place directly next-door. (Talk about convenience!) Ya know, I didn't even THINK about the fact that I probably should have made a reservation, so I walked in without one. The girl behind the counter (Cherie... Sherry?) was super nice and worked on getting me a car right away. She also worked within my budget (insurance said they'd cover $20/day). It only took about 15 minutes, and mostly because she was the only person there working with other customers who came in and out, and other Enterprise workers who came from different locations picking up cars. Seriously, though, 15 minutes was NOTHING! I was prepared to wait a lot longer because, yeahhh, that whole I-didn't-make-a-reservation thing. She was super friendly, thorough (explained everything, walked around the car with me to go over any existing damages), and got me on my way ASAP. I'd definitely use them for future rental car needs, and not only because they're located 10 feet from the body shop. :) read more

Mchenry Enterprise is a great place and the management did right by me but Enterprise corporate and the location in which I dropped my car off closed earlier than they had listed on their website and the door of their building thus charging me an extra day because I had to use the overnight drop box. read more

I locked the keys in the car in one of the rentals from this location. The staff was not helpful at all. I was in a town alone and the keys were locked in the car by the car wash attendant because the car was filthy when I picked it up and it was gross to drive. Enterprise said the car wash company had to pay for the unlocking of the vehicle. They refused therefore I was stuck with the bill. They NEVER told me this until after I had the company come out to unlock the car. I felt that this location cared less that I was a female stranded outside my car. I will pay the extra money to use Hertz or Avis. This would have never happened with either of these companies. read more

But this week the transmission went on my truck and after talking to the shop, I wasn't sure how I was going to pay for the rental car as long as it looks like it's going to take. They started out immediately by not having even the manufacturer of the automobile we wanted, a Toyota, she said they don't even carry Toyota's, then why is it on the websites. After we brought back the Nissan we didn't want in the first place, they went over the car which is fine and found what couldn't be made by anything but a rock hitting the bumper and making a mark. It was no more than an inch in diameter and she had told us that they accessed any damage larger than two inches. It wasn't even close. Then she basically called me a liar because I walked over to the area. I did after they pointed it out to me. To sum it up, I haven rented probably 10 cars from Enterprise over the years. I will never even call them for an estimate ever again. I guess it depends on what "clerk" or manager one gets as to the experience but this was a terrible experience. By the way I contacted my insurance company and ask them to contact me if the made a claim because I was going to deny the claim and file a formal complaint with the insurance company, I told the Enterprise the same thing and I told her my deductible was $50 and it is, and that the company is GEICO and I will asked them to "redline" enterprise at least in McHenry. She said she would do that if she could. I haven't heard anything yet, because they will have to prove that I caused whatever damage there was to the car. I rent cars from Enterprise frequently. In the past, Enterprise was my top choice for car rentals due to the great customer service and good selection of cars. Recently, however, my experience has not been so great. I moved from Kansas City to Chicago and rented cars from the Enterprise in Crystal Lake (Holiday Inn), IL. The manager and assistant manager were super nice and knowledgeable. On my second visit, they knew my name and made me feel like a celebrity. Although they provide great customer service (A+), the cars are HORRIBLE. On one occasion, I reserved a car for an entire month. When I arrived to pick up the car, the manager and I had a great conversation as we walked around the car. He opened the car door for me and continued the conversation briefly before leaving. When he left, I noticed the stains in the interior of the car. Stains were all over every seating area, from top to bottom. Stains were on the floor, as well as the areas where you put your coffee cup. In fact, the stains were so bad, I didn't want to put my purse on the seat next to me. Of course, when I went back inside to report the disgusting nature of this car, they were closed. (I arrived close to closing time.) However, this is not an excuse. These guys usually start the car for you before you walk around to inspect the outside for damages so he must have been well aware of the filthy condition of the interior. Due to my work schedule (6:00 am to 7:00 pm), I had to keep the car for 2 days. After that I returned the car and decided to rent from a different location because the Crystal Lake location always provided cars that were 2014 models with exterior damage and horrible odors inside (cigarette smoke?), not to mention the stains. After that bad experience, I made reservations at two different locations just in case I didn't like the cars. One location was at another site in Crystal Lake (Rte 31) and the other location was in McHenry, IL. On the day of the reservation, I contacted the Crystal Lake-Rte 31 location to see if they had cars available, as it was late in the day. I was told by Tyler that they did not have an intermediate size car available (which is what I reserved) but they did have a standard size available and it would cost more to rent. I emphasized that I made a reservation. "I know that, ma'am," he replied. "But your reservation was for noon and it is now 4:00 p.m. We had a car for you at noon but not now. If you want a car, you will have to pay extra for the standard size. Otherwise we can have a car ready for you tomorrow." I told him I needed a car that day, not the next day. I asked what he would do if I were standing in front of him instead of speaking with him on the phone. "Would you just refuse to give me a car unless I paid extra for the standard size?" I asked. He reiterated that they had nothing for me that day unless I upgraded to the standard size. I cancelled my reservation there and called the McHenry location. I was told they had cars available, and they did. The car they provided (the last intermediate on the lot) was a 2014 model, had a bad odor, the engine rattled, the brakes were not great and I didn't feel safe in the car. But, at least I had a car at that point. I returned that car two days later and upgraded to a standard size, thinking I would get a better car, which I did. However, the new manager (Jon?) kept looking at me as if I were from another planet. He accidentally overcharged me for prepaid gas from the previous rental (which I pointed out) and charged me for an entire day because I was five hours late returning the car. Okay, he stuck by the book - you can't blame the guy for wanting extra $ to enhance his pocket. He was very cold and definitely didn't display good customer service skills like the other guys who work there (Ryan and Jon) but at least I had a car I could live with for a change. Thank goodness I won't need to rent cars regularly anymore for the coming months and when I do, I will definitely consider renting from other places. Enterprise will be my last choice. read more

Vehicles are always dirty and stuff is very pushy. Made a reservation 2 months ahead got to the store at 7:30 car was not there or ready to go. So the lady says well I can upgrade you for a extra $120. For the week with a different suv bad for business why did I make a reservation 2 months ahead to not have the vehicle ready to go and cost me more money.
