I had the most excellent service from the Hertz men, Edgar, Malik and Carlos, when I needed to rent a car when my car was being repaired due to an accident, that wasn't my fault. Where do I even begin? I had a not-at-fault car accident, and the other party's insurance sent me to Hertz to get a rental. I had a big SUV and was supposed to get something similar to my car, when I got there, there were no cars available besides some little Kia's and a huge pickup. I took the pickup up and that night I realized another car did not fit in my garage so I wanted to. The next day, I called every single location within 20 mile radius and I could not find another decent car. This location gave me a Nissan Rogue that I had to wait for a few hours to get, however, after jumping in the car and leaving, I realized that the car had an awful smell of cigarettes masked by cheap cleaning chemicals. To the point that I couldn't stay in the car for longer than 10 to 15 minutes. I immediately called and told them that I would like to get another car, but since this was Friday, it was virtually impossible to find any other car until Monday. I rent a couple of errands in this car and for one of them I needed the electrical scooter that I put in the trunk after parking this car on Saturday morning in my garage the next time I drove, it was on Monday afternoon when I went to Hertz to get another vehicle when I told him that the car stinks. They said that they could put me in another car right now to take my stuff and move to another vehicle, which I did. However, I forgot about my electrical scooter in the trunk of the Nissan. Unfortunately, I realized that only a couple of days later when I remembered that I never took it out of the Nissan. When I came by and asked them about the scooter there right away, became defensive, very irritated, and hard to deal with. The manager almost put his life on the line, telling me that the car was clean and nothing was found in it, however, when I asked him if he was there when the car was cleaned, or if he personally cleaned the car, he answered no to both questions. I did make a police report of a stolen property however, both of the employees at this location made it hard for police officers to gather any information. Those cameras that they have hanging all over the place I have no access to or you will get denied access by the corporate. This brings me to another topic of a shady situation altogether, when I called the corporate to find out which Nissan rogue exactly I was in because the employee told me they couldn't find what car I was in which I found very strange since there are supposed to be documentation, the corporate said that it's strange but they don't see which car I returned and what car I got into they only see that there was an exchange of cars but no other details. I asked them if this was normal they said no that's not normal. That means the location did not Enter this information for some reason. It's been a month since this happened and I have yet to see or hear from her about the video footage. I've used hers 1 million times for my business travel, but never again I will rent a car from these scam artists. PS: almost forgot to mention, a week after returning the vehicle I was charged almost $100 by their eye pass services that no one told me about during the rental of the vehicle or how it works. I had to renegotiate with a third-party company, but still had to pay a lot more than a dollar per toll, which I used four or five tolls. No one explained to me the options or if I'll be going through any tolls. I was worried about renting a vehicle after reading some negative reviews. But to my surprise the experience was extremely pleasant. The guys got me a good price on a brand new GMC SUV, while my car was in service at kia. No hidden fees, no b.s., just an honest transaction. HORRIBLE SERVICE! Took my money = no car. Reserved car two days ahead online. When I arrived on time for my rental the manager said the car was being delivered and could I come back in an hour. I took him at his word and came back an hour later and still no car and now the truth came out that they had no idea when or if I would ever get a car. Obviously manager LIED about the car in the first place. When I asked why they couldn't have had the decency to just call me and cancel the rental - I got silence. Would not help at all with a refund and said I had to call corporate office myself. Called corporate from their parking lot and will hopefully get my money back in a week to 10 days. Great place if you don't need a car and just want someone to take your money and treat you badly. I should have read the reviews. read more

This is the worst Hertz branch - poor service and terrible customer service. One day prior to pick up the van on September 24, although I have prepaid the rental, I received a call from Edgar informing me that the van will not be available the next day and will not be able to find another van for tomorrow and for next two weeks. I believe that he found out that I had an excellent rate $56 per day for 2 days for a Ford Transit and used this excuse to cancel the contract. I had to rent the same vehicle at last minute and paid $400.0 as I had to move my furniture next day. The branch employees were non-professional and hanged up the phone refusing to accept responsibility for the fiasco. I waited now 2 months to get back my money as they cancelled the contract. I called the branch today but customer service person was nasty and refused to refund the money and ask me to call Hertz Billing Department for the refund which I did now. They promised to credit my CC within 10 days. I strongly do not recommend to rent from this Hertz branch due extremely poor service, and unprofessional behavior and attitude. read more

STAY AWAY!! Heed this warning please! I helped a friend of mine rent a car back in June of this year. She had a very bad car accident hitting a deer and her vehicle took two months to get fixed. She had a horrible low budget insurance company that didn't pay for rental, but offered a lower rate ONLY through HERTZ. I had never dealt with Hertz prior to helping my friend (I use Enterprise) so I didn't really think much of it. My friend and I arranged that she would Zelle me the money each week to extend the rental for her and that's what she did. The first reservation we made was not under her insurance so she had a higher rate for two weeks. Not to mention like the other reviews say the car was FILTHY! When we came in the second time to switch the car rental to be under the insurance rate/reservation the the guy at the desk (and the manager Edgar) was unprofessional, rude, didn't explain much and either didn't know what he was doing or purposely misleading throughout the whole two months. He said to me "okay I can reopen a new reservation under the insurance, but you have to pay the amount of $775 to close the reservation. I said, "I already paid for the first two weeks." He replied, "We just hold the money, release the money then and you pay the full amount when you bring the car back." I said I never heard of anything like that. I know the deposit is held, but why would the payments be held?" He replied in a disrespectful tone, "That's just how it is." I replied, "okay I was never explained that and also if you held the money then I would have gotten all of it back and I haven't. I had only received the deposit back into my account and the first week payment back. My friend and I went back to the car and sat in the parking lot to call Hertz customer service and figure out what was going on and find out if what he was telling us was accurate. I was informed by customer service rep that the second payment from the first two weeks would be reflected back into my account. I said, "okay." I went back inside hertz and paid the full amount on my card for the first two weeks and I did end up seeing the reflection of the second week payment going back into my bank account. Once we switched to the insurance reservation we thought everything was good there on out. Each week we would call to extend the rental reservation, my friend would Zelle me the money and they would charge my card. I would see the payment being taken out of my account that day and then it would disappear. THE ENTIRE TIME we were paying there was not any trace or track record of them returning the money after "holding" it. I was a little uneasy, but I thought well then they'll return all the money at the end when the car is brought back and then officially charge. BIG NO, what happened was my friend brought the car back in August. The manager EDGAR told her everything was all paid for and she would receive her deposit. I received her deposit in my account and gave it back to her. Not even a week later they charged my card again for the entire amount of the rental for $1,080!! Furious wasn't even the word for how I was feeling. I immediately called Hertz and the manager EDGAR picked up. I explained to him that I was double charged after we returned the vehicle. He was combative with me and told me no that was what we owed at the rental reservation. I stated to him that I called and paid every week to extend the rental, where's that money?! I said, "All of those payments I made each week were never credited back to my account. There was no evidence of money coming in or going from HERTZ. He became even more mean and defiant and said, "The $1,080 is the amount you owe us!" I then replied, "I want my money back you double charged me." He hung up. I was so stressed, I cried. But then I immediately called my bank and opened a claim. It took two months for them to investigate, but it went in my favor and they found that they had in fact intentionally tried to charge me again. I arrived to pick up my vehicle to learn that the facility was sold out of the midsize vehicles which was fine since they were going to honor the rate for the mid size vehicle. What I wasn't expecting was an additional $689 deposit and then a credit check. When I asked why this was the case I was told it was because of the truck rental- I never wanted a truck. I proceeded to advise them I was in the process of buying a home and could not authorize the credit check and that I wouldn't mind the extra deposit but the credit check I was told was a hertz policy. I looked up the policy on your website and it's not on there as part of renting a vehicle. In addition, I rented from Herat just last month and this was not a requirement. This is the 2nd Terrible experience I have with this company, I guess I didn't learn my lesson the first time. The gentleman at the Dundee location were not empathetic and honestly could care less I needed the vehicle to drop off my daughter at college. I'm beyond disappointed and rest assure I will continue to rent from Enterprise. They know how to value a customer. I luckily found a rental vehicle at another location with Enterprise for a lower rate and I'm sure much better customer service. Thanks for running our college experience hertz. read more
