Completed 10 day trip to Canada using a minivan rented from Lake Zurich Avis. Mo, the one in charge at this locale, was terrific. From the first contact via phone call a few days before rental, to the drop off afterword, I was extremely impressed with Mo's professionalism and overall optimistic nature. My experience at this Avis/Budget location was very disappointing. I completed my reservation and online check-in, uploaded all my documents, and was supposed to simply pick up the vehicle. Instead, I waited about 30 minutes and received very unprofessional service. The employee was rude, asked unnecessary questions, and refused to accept my valid Real ID and payment card without a clear explanation. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, and I will not rent from this location again. read more

If you want to get screwed go to this location. Got the car just under full. The rental guy forced me to tap off my tank on the return for less than a gallon of gas. Where can you find good rentals today. The avis in Schaumburg last time overbilled me and it took three phone calls to correct. I know times are tough but you don't build loyalty by nickel and diming and padding the bill thinking it won't be noticed. I will rent elsewhere read more

Fairly standard car rental place. It can be difficult to find this Avis/Budget shop sandwiched tightly between other shops. Booking is fairly easy online and they have the car ready for you in a reasonable amount of time. The shop itself is fairly small and mostly just a counter in front where you check-in and drop off your keys. Not a bad place to book if you're looking for a no-frills experience at a cheap price. read more

We had to rent a car from day to day for three weeks and no other businesses were capable to do so. They did maintenance before they lended it to us. After we returned it we discovered a week later we have left something behind and we called them. They still had it and happily returned it. All in all they are great. read more

I can't even rate this even 1 star but it won't let me post without putting it!!! Anyway, I HATE THIS CAR RENTAL!!! Never again will ever try to rent a car from here!!! I'm visiting from CA and booked the car 2 weeks ahead. We're suppose to drive to MI and pick up time was 915 am. And this unrespectful, arrogant and poor customer etiquette MO whoever he is was so upsetting! They called me 15 mins before the pick up time telling me he couldn't provide me the car this morning and will call me when he has car! STUPID!! I told him they should've called me a day before atleast so I can have other options renting other car from other company! Our plans driving out of town all messed up because of their stupid unbelievable poor customer service! And what made me so mad was this MO person talked to me so rude and never apologize at all! What kind of customer service and communication etiquette you have!!!!! Can you atleast say "SORRY MAA'M but we will try to call you as soon as we have a car!!" Or even without car!!! " BUT HE DIDNT! I booked on Hotwire and received confirmation. I then paid $30 for 30 min Uber to get out to this Avis/Budget. When walking in he informed me there were no cars. I explained I had taken an Uber a long way and had no other options and their store was closing in 1 hour. There was another man waiting out side in the same boat but he'd been waiting for 3 hrs already. I pleaded and he said there was nothing her could do. I got on the phone with budget and they said they could get me a car just 20 miles away During this phone call trying to arrange another car a car came back he informed me I could have. He said wait 10 minutes for me to clean it in which time he helped two other people before me. One of those people got a car from the back lot that had somehow not existed when I needed a car?!? It was a larger more expensive car but I've had this happen before when they run out at other businesses and they upgrade you for free. When he finally got around to me 30 min later he told me he accidentally put the keys for my car in the other persons car and they were 30 min away from being able to come back. At which point he then offered me a minivan (which also didn't exist when I was in dire straits earlier) but I had to pay a little more for it but i did eventually get a car and it was nice. The only good I can say is that the man helping me apologized and was very polite throughout even though i was upset. I still would not book here again. read more

Pls never ever rent mini van from Avis / Budget rental they fleece you with per mile basis and you will end up with huge surprise on final settlement when you return the van. Had a Horrible experience with these guys. read more

So sad about Nancy's review! Moe mentioned that he's at the mercy of corporate governance, that they just don't always stock his needs as they should. And although he'd been dealing with that same issue the day we went in (vehicles weren't delivered until 4p, resulting in more than one cancellation), he's clearly developed his customer service skills. He took the time to answer our questions about operating a vehicle type neither of us had driven before, and was equally amiable when we returned it in time for Thanksgiving eve, which was set to be another stressful time. I made a reservation thinking my car was going to be in the shop for several days so I thought renting a car would be a better alternative than ubering everywhere. Booked my appointment online for a little over $100. So far so good. About ten minutes after doing so the dealership called me with great news: they did have the parts for my car and it was ready to pickup. Great! So I can just go ahead and cancel that reservation I made right? Right?! Nope. I try to cancel online and it says I'll be charged $150 (mind you the reservation was only about $100) for cancelling. No problem. I'm sure once I speak with someone they'll understand and let me cancel. Nope. I call the location and no one there can assist me because I made the reservation online. Fine, I'll call the customer service line. Can anyone there help me? Also no. The rep I spoke with tells me I have to send a message via the website and wait for someone to contact me. As of right now I'm still out the $150 and no one has reached out to me about getting a refund. If this is their idea of customer service then I suggest folks take their business elsewhere. read more

Moe deserves great praise for his assistance. I rented a car for a trip that began out-of-state and ended at the Lake Zurich office. My experience at the out-of-state starting point was terrible, but Moe did what he could to solve the issues in a timely and friendly manner. We have rented cars from this location approximately ten times over the last six months. Each of these rentals were for personal use as we try to rent off airport to save on the taxes paid for airport rentals and this is much closer to our home. Cars provided are always clean and have low mileage. Mo, the Manager is outstanding in providing quality service and is an excellent representation for the Avis/Budget brand. We would not consider going anywhere else. We used to rent from the Hertz location at the Toyota dealership on Rand Rd. and Hicks. They provided high mileage cars that were pretty beat up and despite complaints didn't seem to care. We decided to switch to this location and are very satisfied. read more

Mo, the operator, was extremely courteous and friendly. The specific type of car I reserved was ready at the time promised. There were no pressure to purchase any add-on, and Mo was able to get me on my way very quickly. There was a long line when I was returning the car. The gentleman at the counter told me to drop off the key and he will email the receipt to me. I received the receipt within one hour. I don't usually write reviews for car rental experience, but I am extremely happy with the service. read more

i recently rented a car here through my costco membership. even after returning the car early the manager told my friend that he was doing me a favor by giving me the price that was stated at the costco travel website. the only reason i rented there in the first place was because of the costco rate. i have rented from other car rental companies and have never experienced this kind of attitude. the prices are negotiated by avis and costco, not me. i think he felt this way because i did not buy the insurance offered. i will never rent from this place again so he doesn't have to worry about doing me any more "favors". read more
