Twice I have rented cars firm this location and the cars were vary woren and poorly cleaned. One car had scratches all over it, like it had been vandalized. Something that it didn't see until after fake wash wore off. The car had a crew carwash sticker in the window, like it was someone's personal car. I use this location because of convenience to my home. If I want in a time crunch I would've returned the car and demanded a refund. read more

They could have told me that they needed a second form of ID when I rented the car. I was out of state and they said I needed another ID. I did the mobile check in and wasn't informed. The rude lady working here said she left a voicemail that I didn't get. When I travel, I bring the least amount of IDs with me in case they get lost. They agreed to let my daughter rent the car, so that was nice. Then when they gave us the vehicle it was a huge truck that my daughter could barely drive and the gas was double. They said they didn't have a sedan. So, I guess they weren't ever planning on renting to me since I check in and everything was good until I got there. The whole experience was the worst ever and I stopped using Enterprise because of all my bad experiences, but this was by far the worst one yet!! read more

If the manager reads this, then Kyle deserves a promotion. I can't say for the rest of the store, but for Kyle who helped us out on our problem is the only reason why this review is a 5 store. It's not that Enterprise is the best car rental place, but for me I felt that because of the service that I encountered there I can't say anything bad about it. The store yes, it's a little run down, but hey I was only there for about an hour or so. On our trip we originally had a black Nissan Versa. On our way to our destination, our car's condenser or the lack of Freon stopped working effectively. Yeah, no A/C in 90 degree weather. We couldn't stand it so after several calls to different Enterprises we were told to go to Firestone to see if they could fix it as they have a nationwide contract with the organization. When we got to the first Firestone, they told us that they haven't set up the account yet so they didn't do any work and advised us to go to the main Firestone a couple of exits down. We went there, and then the Firestone automatically called the same store that we did a couple of hours before and told us to go there. So wandering around, we were getting pretty tired of just getting redirected here and there. We finally came here and talked to Kyle, who went above and beyond to get us a car that actually has AC. He ran into a problem with the billing, which was weird to him and he said that he had not ever encountered it in 4 years. But, eventually after about an hour he got it done and got us an upgraded car...with AC. The customer service here is good, when they're not busy. Come during busy hours and most likely you'll be stuck there for a little. read more

Kyle was the guy who helped us and the only reason why I give this place a 5 star review. He went out of his way to get us a new car (we got an upgrade) and for it to not charge us extra since our original car had issues. It took him over an hour as the system was being difficult, but he did it. So thank you. We rented a car in another state but it ended having A/C problems in the middle of summer (+95F!!!). I called every Enterprise off of I-65 and I-94 from Crown Point, IN to Purdue University. No store had a car in our size or any car left in their lot. In the end we were told to go to a Firestone as they are partnered up with them on a national scale and can look at it. But once we stopped at Firestone, they told us that they can't help us with this problem and go to an Enterprise. We told them we called and no one would even want to help us. So they called the closest Enterprise for us, this one, and work something out. THIS WAS THE FIRST ENTERPRISE I CALLED AND WAS REJECTED. We were told "We don't have a car in your size in our lot so we can't help you." and then hung up. But now that Firestone called them, all the sudden they can help? There still was no car in our size in the lot, but we were able to get a bigger car with a functional A/C. read more

Shout out to Mimi and Mike at the Enterprise in Merrillville. When I had a major car issue during my drive through the area en route to Indianapolis to host a baby shower, they were quick, friendly and fair helping me with rental car needs while the dealership worked to fix my car. They were also total pros while juggling all the needs of many customers (it was somewhat of a "circus" during a busy Friday afternoon but they were great getting to everyone timely and reasonably). I was having a very stressful and frustrating day but they delivered fantastic service and helped me get on my way. read more

I concur with do t do it, literal thieves! The initial rental went well. Returning the car was a joke. I brought the car back before return time, it was checked in with no problem. 24 hours late the nightmare began of being charged daily for the car that I supposedly never returned. In reality due to early return the car was rented back out and the electronic paperwork not completed. The manager is an irresponsible idiot, you can't talk to him and he has no customers service skills whatsoever. Corporate was no help either. Just as they kept charging for the missing car they reversed the charges after a half a week with no apologies nor explanation. I can only say let the buyer beware! Don't do it! read more

I reserve on the Enterprise App for a 8:am pick up, I show up 15min early and I'm walking out doing the walk around on my vehicle by 7:47 bruh I was in and out quick as shit. I appreciate that !! Everyone is always friendly even if it's not their fault they don't have the vehicle you preferred bcus you didn't RESERVE IT! Give'em a break with the complaints, your bad credit, declined visas and license in your name but the utility in another gives you no right to be funky. They rushed me through the process for showing me my rental car and pressured me to sign up for extra insurance that I didn't need. I got a rental through my insurance company while my car was being repaired. They told me that I was going to be driving "in style" and then proceeded to escort me past both a Lincoln and BMW, only to place me in a VW Beetle. It wasn't until five days in that my insurance company told me that I didn't need the extra insurance Enterprise told me was necessary, but by then I was on the hook for $99.85. I was relatively happy with the performance and comfort of the rental vehicle. Also, the drop-off process was easy enough, as they let you leave the car in the lot and place the keys in the overnight drop box. That said, beware the pushy salesmen at the counter. I was very unhappy to incur nearly $100 in charges for something that I didn't need. read more

I had the best customer service at this Enterprise location. I was pleased that my rental was available for pickup as promised. Carrie was great. She went above and beyond to satisfy. I've rented cars in the past from other Enterprise locations and other businesses, however, the cars drive worn and not the best. Not this rental, it was superb. Getting me home was not a problem after returning the car. There was someone available to take me. He was also nice and a good driver. This location was very rude and did nothing to help resolve their error in their system by allowing me to make this reservation in the 1st place. I rented a vehicle for a 3 day business trip and Enterprise provided me with great customer service, a clean vehicle and promptness. I arrived a few hours early and they were still able get me in and out in very little time. The entire staff was professional and friendly. However, Katy was exceptional. She is a kind young lady and I really appreciate the service and personal attention she gave me. I had a confirmation number but she said it was impossible to have one for the vehicle we reserved. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK. I gave her the confirmation number. She said it doesn't exist. Customer service told me they had a lot of cars available, so I went out of my way to get there to exchange my vehicle. A young man began helping me. When he told his manager, Kari, I was there to exchange a vehicle, she said "we have other customers, help the next person in line." He proceed to say "we have no other customers." ELI was awesome... I requested a certain particular car that they always have sitting outside the car wash just as clean as can be, but for whatever reason I'm always told "Someone already has it reserved". (Which is a lie because i rode past the enterprise every single day for the next 5 days & low & behold, that car was still there). But, Eli made it happen. Even though when he asked the store manager was it okay, she hesitated super hard but eventually said that's fine. (A full sized vehicle is a full sized vehicle i don't get it, like bitch is that your car or something? Thought this was enterprise??)The store manager Carrie (big curly haired black lady) hates other young pretty black women (especially when she has to sit around & watch all of her employees flirt with you & treat you like the well-paying returning customer that you are). One time she purposely put me in the smallest ugliest car they had on the lot(They had a ton of FULL-SIZED cars available!! Chargers, impalas, fusions) Shes super miserable & hates her own people but loves them other ones. Her attitude will make you never return to this Enterprise. This is the first time I have ever posted a review to Yelp but I received such poor service I felt compelled to do so. I rent from National and Enterprise all the time; in fact, I rent so often for business travel that I have "Executive Elite" status in their loyalty program. Despite this, an associate at this branch named Kevin called and left a rude message on my voicemail about updating my payment on file and was just as rude when I went to the branch. I asked if the manager was available and he said, "This is all that's here", motioning to the 6 or 7 other people standing behind the counter, meaning that the manager was not there, as if I was supposed to know that when any one of them could have been the manager. Since the manager Kari (Carrie?), was not there I had to complete my transaction with Kevin but she will definitely hear from me directly. If you would prefer courteous helpful service go to another Enterprise location, or another rental car provider all together. You definitely risk being treated poorly if you go to this branch (1100 West 81st Avenue, Merrillville, IN 46410). read more
