Especially lately, a rental can be so stressful. I was forced to grab a rental after someone rear-ended me. So I chose to come to this Mill Valley location. It's right by the Porsche Marin dealership and the area is really safe. They have a great collection of cars and more importantly, a great staff. Henry was an absolute pleasure to work with. Stuck in a tough position with so many people needing rentals, Henry was straight forward with me and told me my options. Once we got ready to grab a car, he offered to explain how rentals with insurance works. I said yes and he explained how the at-fault party can cover a nicer car due to what I was driving and my line of work. I opted to just take my rental and move on, but that was service. Nothing about this process was stressful - completely unlike what I was expecting. Huge thanks to Henry who guided me through the difficult process of working with insurance. When it was time to grab a car, he made sure to get through the checks with me thoroughly and quickly. I was on the road in no-time! Hello everyone, I genuinely needed a rental car because my own vehicle broke down, so I made a reservation a day in advance. I even checked it again around midnight, and when I woke up in the morning, I had already received a confirmation for my reservation. However, just two hours before my scheduled pickup time, I received an email informing me that they had no vehicles available. They claimed they had placed me first on their waitlist. I called the location, and the person who answered said they were helping another customer and would call me back shortly. Of course, they never did. My pickup time came and went, and they didn't even bother to contact me. Hours passed, and I still received no updates whatsoever. I was completely ignored--honestly, they just ghosted me. Because of this unprofessional handling of the situation, I ended up missing an important meeting. It's honestly unbelievable. The one time I truly needed a rental car, they completely dropped the ball. If you're looking to be disappointed, this is definitely a place where you can rent a car. read more

The people here are under pressure with a shortage of cars or the appropriate vehicle you reserved-no matter what your reservation or call center conversation might have been. They do give very good customer service for every single customer in frustration. I wish the company would do a better job of getting people to drop cars off here rather than returning to the airport-that would improve the constant shortages. I like this location and convenient if you have a car in the shop- however if you have a road trip and need a specific sized vehicle to fit luggage and passengers or for comfort you can be delayed min 1-2 hours. Wow, I'm a fan for life. I've used Enterprise for business many times, but now I love it for something else. Vacations! This location is only a few walkable miles from downtown Mill Valley, near where I live. I also wanted to test-drive an SUV, and this time they offered a Toyota RAV4 or a BMW X2. As much as I would've liked to test the X2, in reality, I opted for the RAV. The car was perfect except it had no gas, for which Henry profusely apologized. I put my own clean furniture blankets down all over the inside of the cargo area to keep it clean and protect it from my bicycle and luggage. It was a good rate, and returning it was a breeze on 8am Monday, as I wanted to make sure it was received in perfect condition! Thanks so much. I'll be back! read more

Enterprise in Strawberry, CA has poor customer service. I rented a car for over two weeks while my car was repaired and when I returned the car I told the counter agents that something in the rental car did not work properly. I dutifully read all the Yelp reviews before calling and was apprehensive; it seemed evenly split between "Whoa, that was the best customer-service experience since Doc Smith delivered me into this world," and "Why isn't there a ZERO STAR rating!" Then, I noticed that the location in Mill Valley had ALL five star reviews, and here's why: As part of a quick West Coast trip, we had a last minute need for a car, any car. Called on a Thursday, wanted to grab a car, any car, in about an hour. Stephanie quoted me ten cents under forty bucks, unlimited mileage, free gas top-off at BELOW the lowest I could find using GasBuddy. Told me that would get me any car they had available, if none of the el cheapos were there when we showed. Our plans changed; we weren't able to get the car until Friday morning. Called Steph. No problem. They'll pick us up at our hotel. Which they did. Promptly. (Sorry I can't recall the driver's name... James?) Drove away in a fun, four-door Jeep, thrilling my daughter, who had blanched when (James?) fetched us in a blue metal flake soccer mom mini-van. Put a hundred fifty or so miles on the clock, had a fun day, took it back early Saturday, settled up with Wendy, and (James?) gave us a ride to Sausalito to hop the ferry (which is not, in this instance, an euphemism) to SF. We were kid-gloved, turtle-doved and baby-loved throughout our time in and with Enterprise. Thanks to Steph, Wendy and (James?) for your efforts. A long day in a fun little Jeep, pickup at our hotel, dropoff at the ferry, forty bucks. Astounding value, when you consider that three of us wandering from town to town, twice, on any form of public transit would have cost about that much MINUS the car. (I found one single-star review for the San Rafael location oddly funny. She left her four hundred bucks worth of CD's in the rental car, watched as the next party drove it away, and blames Enterprise? I would go find a mirror. But that's just me.) read more

Decided to rent a SUV for the weekend last weekend. Found this place which was convenient to where I lived. Got a good rate and booked online. Got a call the day before to confirm my reservation and to let me know I could pick up the car early at no charge which made it really easy for me. They also gave me the best car they had in that class. Pick up was easy and staff was friendly and professional. Seamless. I dropped it off while they were closed. They conveniently had a drop box which allowed me to park the car and drop the keys in the box. Overall this was an excellent car rental experience. I was in dire need of a rental car at the very last minute and booked a reservation online and 30 minutes later, Jared was able to offer me either a convertible Ford Mustang or a Prius. I decided to get the convertible which was great and at no up charge. He was also able to give me great recommendations on things in the area and was very friendly as was the rest of the staff. Returning the car was also very easy as they have a drop off box available 24/7 for anyone to return their vehicles. Overall my experience with them was pretty exceptional despite me making it very inconvenient for them with such short notice. I would definitely rent from there again. read more

Enterprise treats debit card holders and regular customers like criminals. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Telling me I would have to have two utility bills in order to rent a car (on top of ridiculous holds placed on these cards), I grabbed a few at random out of the files and brought them along. But, oh, no, that wasn't good enough; they had to be no more than 30 days old. Never mind the fact that I've been out of the country for a month and haven't picked up my mail yet. And never mind the fact that in other offices, this has been waived because I'm a known and regular customer. So now today, after yesterday asking me if I couldn't access my emailed bills online, they tell me they won't even accept looking at a copy of emailed bills - or at the account itself online. For some reason, now they tell me they have to be actually printed; neither viewing the electronic version nor looking at the actual account on the company's own website is OK. They also don't seem able to grasp the idea that some people don't have paycheck stubs - like anyone self-employed, or financially independent. And that some of us take a more responsible approach to money management than using credit cards. I cut all of mine up years ago, and pay cash for everything - absolutely *everything*. I have had zero trouble anywhere else in the entire world with using just debit cards - only with Enterprise. Now, I've been regularly renting from them at multiple locations across the US for *30 years*, sometimes for months at a time. You'd think that would count for something, right? Oh, no, once again. The district manager type informed me that they "hold everyone to the same standard" - translation: they don't actually give a shit about loyal, long-term customers. Enterprise, I'm completely done with you, and I am going to make sure everyone I know knows how you treat loyal customers - all 3,000+ people in my personal database, and thousands more Twitter followers and Facebook and LinkedIn friends and contacts. read more

I experienced car failure two weeks ago coming back from a Casino and need to rent a car ASAP until I knew what I wanted to do with my vehicle. I chose Enterprise and it worked out pretty well in my favor. They have nice friendly staff here and they willing to accommodate your needs. I rented a 2012 Mazda 2 and ended up needing to keep the car an additional week, and I didn't need to return back to Enterprise they were able to handle it over the phone. Zipcar doesn't have cars in Marin, so this is the next best thing, maybe better. They pick up and drop off at home, they're amazingly helpful, flexible, and kind, and it's cheap. Almost too good to be true. It makes living in the suburbs without a car actually a possibility. It's also walking distance to several buses, which provides you with options if you work in the city. read more

This is a horrible place. 2 times I reserved a car, and when I am ready to get the car, they say they don't have a car. First time I showed up at the location via Uber, and they just shrugged and said, we don't have a car for you, nothing we can do. Second time I called ahead and asked them to pick me up in 15 mins, they said yes sure. After a while they call and say, there's no point picking you since we don't have a car we can give you. I needed a small (actually an inexpensive) car for three days and thought I had called Enterprise Mill Valley to make that reservation. When I showed up to pick-up the car I had to learn that I must have called their Belmont offices instead. No problem, said the newly appointed upbeat Mill Valley Branch Manager, we will get you a car. And so he did. I left this place in a Dodge Grand Caravan for the price of an economy car. Thank you for that great customer service and your flexibility. This place is a nightmare. The manager Jared is unreliable and unprofessional. They ran my card for $1,000 accidentally and he will not refund it, he wont call back, etc. When I call him he says they are looking into it. It's been 2 months and now I have 2 months of an unpaid card on my credit report, which was near perfect until this. The details: My car went to Jeep on warranty and Jeep got me an Enterprise car. It took nearly 2 months for my car to get fixed. Jeep made it very clear to Enterprise that they were covering the rental costs (I have copies of emails, etc). Shortly after I returned the car to Enterprise, there was a charge on my card for a few bucks short of 1k. I have called Enterprise numerous times and they are not helping me. 9 times out of 10 they don't answer the phone at all (go ahead and give that number above a try- it's impossible to call the local office- yes I pressed ext 4). When I do finally reach them, they tell me every time that they will work on it and call me back. They have only called me back one time and said "call us" instead of telling me it was fixed on my voice mail which they promised to do in advance, because they know they cant be reached. I have not been able to reach the manager at all since then. The # rings for hours. When a receptionist occasionally answers, they dont know a thing about the situation and say Jared will call back. But he doesnt. The people that have not helped me: 1. Manager Jared. He knows I cant reach him and promised to handle it & call me asap and has not. This has gone on for months. So I asked the receptionist for HIS manager... 2. Jared's regional manager: shawn.w.apodaca@ehi.com - I have emailed him numerous times and haven't gotten a single reply. I have done everything in my power to get help, short of driving down there and creating a public ruckus, which is my next step if this Yelp doesn't yield any results. read more

The staff at Enterprise was great and they provided a fun car for me; however, BEWARE!!! Enterprise tells you that you can avoid paying the $3.95 "convenience fee" (in addition to the toll charge) every time you cross a bridge, but NOT SO! I spent a good 45 minutes on the phone with their "third party administrator" and was told ultimately that I could add the rental car to my Fastrak account, but it would have to stay on the account for 48 hours after i returned the car - hence I would be paying the next renter's tolls. So, I offered to pay for my tolls when I returned the car, but Enterprise wouldn't accept payment. My credit card bill came with $15.80 in "convenience fees" for crossing 4 toll gates. read more

So my car broke down a few weeks ago and I needed a car ASAP. I was not a happy camper. I was out of town and forced to rent a car from Enterprise (it was a Friday afternoon and I had no other option because everything was closing down). I trudged over to Enterprise. Or, maybe it was more of that a nice luxury car came to pick me up from the auto shop..but either way, I made it over there with a bad attitude in tow. The customer service at this location was FANTASTIC. They are very expensive, which is a downside. In my case, however, they were willing to negotiate the rate down to help me out. The women that work here are so friendly that they actually managed to get a smile out of me on a very BAD day. That is a hard thing to do. I drove away with a brand new, upgraded Ford. The car was really nice feature-wise, but I actually really hated driving it. I don't blame Enterprise for this. I blame Ford. But yikes - driving a car like that up and down hills in San Francisco will throw you for a loop. It's like a roller coaster ride. Except its real life. And you may nearly avoid collisions left and right as you try to accelerate up a hill without much luck. But that is another story :) When I returned my car, everything was painless and easy. One of the interns drove me back to get my own car. She was SO friendly and upbeat. It made my day. I highly recommend this Enterprise location. They seem genuine, and happy to work with people to get them what they want. read more

HUGE WARNING: These guys will out right lie to you (presumably to get you to rent from them rather than other Enterprise companies). We had a reservation for quite a bit less with another Enterprise location and the fellow at the desk lied to us about what our reservation was going to cost at the other location. "We can give you the same rate" But it was about 25% higher! We didn't fall for it and sure enough, the other location came through with their much lesser cost. read more
