Do not go here!! they will steal from you and then try and gaslight you and say you never left anything. This place is run by liars and thieves!! I accidentally left my work table in the trunk after dropping off the car after a long day. I arrived right before they closed and ran inside to drop off keys.. I realized the next morning that i left my table. I called multiple times and they insisted that if i left it, the detailer would find it, but then claimed it wasn't there. The table was 100% was in the car trunk. I should have double checked instead of trying to get them out of work in time. These enterprise employees are liars! Danny, Cam, Bry, Mel, and Eli are liars and thieves. I've called corporate and filed a complaint, but don't want others to get swindled. Do not go here unless you want to work with liars and thrives! Either the detailers (Mel & Eli stole the table or they didn't correctly do thier job and check the car like they are supposed to when it gets returned) or it was stolen by Danny (manager on the next day and person trying to gaslight me every time i called in the morning and then multiple times during the day following up & also there when i showed up in person, really he is an all around horrible un empathic lying individual) or Cam and Bry stole it when I dropped off the car the night before. (however, they were both very nice when i picked up and dropped off the car the day before) However, one of these employees did STEAL . my nice folding table and then lied to me and repeatedly tried to gaslight me saying i never left it. Protect yourself and Don't go to this location that tries to gaslight you into thinking you didn't leave an item instead of admitting they stole the item, or does their job correctly. i could of picked up my table that next morning.(This is just a table i'm sure they stolen dozens of things left accidentally) if i could leave negative stars i would!!! Danny, mel, Eli, Cam and Bry need to be held accountable for thier deplorable and illegal behavior! read more

No cars available on weekends even with reservation. Waited 30 minutes with no updates so I just left and took a train. Just because you made a reservation 3 months in advance doesn't mean you will have a car. read more

For the Kimberley Ave Location - rented a car from here for a week without any issues. We did have to wait while the car was cleaned before we got it but at least it was cleaned. It would have been nice if it was ready to go immediately but it only took 15 minutes or so. We did have to use several tolls during the drive though so tbd how smoothly the billing for that will go. read more

I received a call the day I was supposed to pick up my reserved car to be told they haven't had cars available for weeks now. Needless to say my reservation would have to be canceled. Interestingly, I was able to reverse a vehicle the day prior. This was for a business trip, thanks for the advance notice. This is bad business and a terrible way to treat a customer. I will will never use It Enterpirse ever again. Over charged me in early July on a one way trip from Newark NJ airport to CT. Here we are almost in Dece and still waiting on getting credited. Called local branch in CT and they said only NJ can credit me, asked to contact them and give me credit. Never got reimbursed and called 6 times and nobody could help me. It was even escalated, whatever that means because nothing happened. Supposedly the airport branches are on a separate and customer service can't credit me. Emailed NJ where I picked up the car and never got a response. They are great at taking your money but god forbid they owe you money, at least Iin my case. I'm giving them 1 star because there's no option to give them negative stars. read more

After a horrible experience at Avis a tweed airport. I was able to get a car at enterprise. I highly recommend this Enterprise. The cars are actually clean, new and safe to drive. About 6 months ago I attempted to rent from this location and did not have a positive experience at all. This time, however, Paula and Marcellus made my experience exceptional and provided the highest quality customer service. They both did a great job of attending to my rental needs while managing a busy store with many customers. Paula and Marcellus made a great team and their warm, friendly approach was appreciated and makes me want to return to this location when I rent again. My comment is less about the rental car part of the Crown Street location, and more about fraud. My husband had a rental here because of a car accident. Ten days after turning in the car, my credit card company flagged a suspicious after-hours charge from this office. It sure looks like someone there tried to use the credit card on file from his rental. We have cancelled the card, of course, but shame on this office for whomever has sticky fingers and is trying to use our card. For shame! read more

Rented a truck from them and when we went to pick it up they did not have it. Called and spoke to the manager. She told me just because I rented a car from them it doesn't guarantee that they actually have it. So be super careful. They didn't the next day either. Then used the most illogical backwards reason for why they didn't have one. It was my fault because I dared change the reservation for the day before and they didn't have the car even though they said they did when I made the reservation. On top of it they didn't try to get the truck there because the original time was wiped from there computers so she couldn't possibly get one there for the reservation. When I called to cancel she hung up on me. My company has rental cars daily and by far the worst people I have ever tried to work with. read more

THE WORST. They cannot even answer a phone. I have been trying to talk to a human being at this location for 15 minutes. Instead of booking a car, I have been "answering surveys." I was asked if I was willing to complete a short survey upon termination of the call. What call? Doesn't a call imply an exchange, some words between you and your interlocutor? Here it's just little old me and an automated machine asking about Spanish and pressing 1. Then no call and straight to the survey. I was to rate my experience from 1 (completely dissatisfied) to 5 (completely satisfied). 1 obviously. I think I will spend the rest of my shot day just calling and and pressing the number 1 to register my displeasure. UNBELIEVABLE. Quentin, Jordan, and Kelsey may be "awesome" at many things in life (many Yelp reviews mention these people). Gardening, cooking, basketweaving may be their long suits. What Quentin, Jordan, and Kelsey seem considerably less competent with is ANSWERING THE U$*($#@)*( TELEPHONE. read more

I have rented hundreds of rental cars over the years and this was my best experience ever. I walked into their office late, because I misread the operating hours and Jasaad still helped me out, even when he presumably wanted to go home and had every right to make me come back the next day. They didn't happen to have the exact type of car I rented, but had something close enough at a comparable price and the car was clean and practically brand new. They called to check on me and see how things were going during our rental. And no hassles at all on the return. The rental and the return process were both efficient and totally painless. Jasaad was super pleasant to deal with and I couldn't have been happier. These are the go-to guys in New Haven, especially if you're near the Yale campus, and I don't think I will be walking to the train station to rent from Hertz again. read more

Whenever I'm home in Connecticut visiting family, this is my go-to place. Just book online and Enterprise makes it easy, especially if you're taking the train in from New York City, like me. If you're taking Metro North, just call when you get to the Milford stop. This usually gives them enough time to dispatch a driver out to New Haven Union Station for your complimentary ride to the rental place. Service is prompt, especially during holiday/peak hours and they've definitely got a rhythm going. As with any rental car company, be alert and have your camera ready during the initial walk-around inspection. read more

This rental company is extremely unprofessional and they do not explain their policies to customers before charging them. I recently rented a vehicle and they held $250 for a deposit and then told me they charged it as a deductible after reassuring me that I would get it back when I returned the vehicle. For over a year, I've been consistently renting from Enterprise anytime I need to drive into New England. Let me tell ya, it's easier to take Metro North to New Haven and rent a car, not to mention a whole lot cheaper than trying to rent one in New York City! The moment I step off the train, I give Enterprise a call and they send someone to pick me up at the station. All the people I've dealt with are friendly and personable. I'm usually in and out of the office within 15 minutes. Sure, sometimes the place has a few customers and I may wait for a little while, but as I'm usually taking vacation when I'm renting a car, I never feel any need to be in a rush. When I return, the checkout process is easy and someone always drives me back to the train station. How can you beat that? I would really love to give this place five stars, but the fact that the office closes at noon on Saturdays and closed all day Sunday totally sucks. On the bright side, that just means I have to take a Monday off to return the car, so here's to having a long weekend! read more

In NYC for business then headed to MA to visit family for Christmas, but there wasn't a car anywhere in mid-town! So we caught Metro-north to New Haven where a friendly Enterprise employee met us at the train. And the rental was less than 1/4 the cost quoted by Hertz, even with airport drop-off. Oh, and they let us add a second car for my daughter at the same rate. Amazing. Very happy. read more

I was placed on hold for foreverrrr, and they make you listen to a short commercial on loop while you're on hold...... as if they need to advertise to someone who's already interested in renting one of their cars & calling their business..... Update: they gave my car to someone else because I was running late... never got a call or anything alerting me of the situation, and now they have no more cars available. I'm not giving 1 star because I need to use them again in the future..... It is nice that they offer pick-up and drop off services. But after being picked up, it took them like 30 min to hand me a small car. If you go there, try to avoid Jordan, he took a long time and kept saying "we're waiting for paper work" and wouldn't rush even after making him aware that I'm running behind schedule. I've used this place ~4 times because it's convenient to me and has better hours than the other rental agencies locally, but if you can go anywhere else I would recommend it. Here are the reasons: 1. The culture of the sales staff here is hucksterish. Some of their employees are crass, smug and sexist. Because they are so over the top it's easy to roll your eyes and wait to get on with your life. But it extends beyond an inconvenience when they try to win small gains by misdirection, forced teaming and gaslighting. I'd like to think that this is just some insidious management culture problem but I have definitely found myself frankly offended, as have others I know who have been there. It's one of those places you talk about with friends. If you're in to that kind of thing, it may be worth going here for the entertainment alone. 2. The point above leads to some obviously rude behavior - taking calls while talking to you mid-sentence and waving you off, putting things you've clearly declined on your contract figuring you won't notice, dealing with any problem with condescension. It's too bad, because Enterprise is usually so good with customer service, that this place is such a relief to get away from. 3. They will lie to you directly. Recently we rented from them for business as we had to move a large amount of equipment down to a southern state for a research project. I confirmed everything with multiple staff at this location, speaking to them over the phone at least 3 times in preparation for our departure. I even tried to come by to inspect the vehicle we would be renting, twice. The night that we received the vehicle (they acted as though letting us pick it up in the evening was some great favor to us - other places let you rent, say, 6PM to 6PM) it was similar to the model we had been told we would receive, but not the same. They had already rented away the specific vehicle that we had been told we would receive multiple times. Then the agent tried to make fun of our preference, claiming there was no difference (in actuality you can see the square footage online - we weren't trying to confirm and check out the vehicle ahead of time for nothing, also the voltage mattered for our equipment) and since everywhere else was closed we had no choice but to take the replacement vehicle. Because of the space shortage, we were forced to rent another vehicle en route. Then when we returned they had us fill out an accident report for small scratches on the roof from when we had strapped equipment up there because the vehicle was too small (we mentioned our intention to do this and there didn't seem to be a problem), they had us fill out an accident report but said that it was for internal purposes only and that there wouldn't be any charge to us. They didn't even give us a copy of the document. Then ~4 weeks later we received a call from the company claiming that the vehicle we rented had been totaled in an accident and we were liable - none of which ever happened. It was a bureaucratic nightmare. Not worth the headache. Go see the super nice people in the Milford Enterprise. They're great. read more

This was my first time renting a car ever, and it was my first time traveling to New England. I really needed a rental car to get me from New Haven to Stamford, so I went with Enterprise because they had the best prices out of the other rentals in the area. They called me a few days before I came in and let me know that they would pick me up from the train station when i arrived. I knew Enterprise offered this service from their commercials but I had forgotten about it until they reminded me. One the day I arrived, I called them and within five minutes, they picked me up from the train station and took me to their location. When I arrived, Nicole took care of my rental. She was friendly and knowledgeable. There was a small issue with my credit cards, mostly I found out that I needed atleast $250 on my CC in order to rent. It was a small issue, but my husband and I figured it out over the phone. It took us a good 15 minutes to get this issue fixed on our end, but the whole time Nicole was extremely patient and understanding. She even offered to drive me to another rental company in the area if i could not get the CC issue fixed. Luckily, I did and Nicole got my on the road ASAP. They called me a few hours later (I couldn't take the call) and left me a message to check to make sure that I got to my location safely and to apologize for the CC issue, even though it was really not anything that was their issue. I returned the car a few days later and again, they were quick, friendly and remembered my first name the second I walked into the door. As I said, I have never rented a car before and probably wont be renting that often from now on, but if I ever do, I will most definitely go through Enterprise again! read more

I do not understand the negative reviews. I have used Enterprise on Crown St in New Haven several times and have always gotten great service. In April I met Brian and Barbara and they were the best!!! They were personable and funny and knew exactly how to help me. They gave me a great car at a great rate. When Brian came to pick me up, I didn't know that he was waiting and waiting..... and when I saw him there and came out to the car, he was very cool with everything, not at all annoyed that I had kept him waiting. This company has provided great customer service the last two times that I have used them. Their staff has always been friendly and professional, they've answered our questions succinctly, and they genuinely seemed like they cared about our well-being as individuals. The first time I ever used their service, they provided me with a free car upgrade. The second, I was deciding between an SUV and pickup and although the latter was the cheaper option, I ultimately felt uncomfortable driving it as they let me test-drive it in the lot. They provided a discount of the SUV to the pickup's price simply because I didn't feel comfortable driving it, which was very kind. Thanks again! read more

I rented a car shortly after moving to New Haven and ran into some issues (word of advice: CAREFULLY review their policy if you plan to pay via debit card!) with my card. On the verge of panic, they found a way to make it work and even gave me a far nicer car than I had planned on renting. They were super nice and professional, but willing to bend and work with me in a situation where I really would have been in a jam had they not been so. I would definitely rent here again. Usually I dread renting cars, but at the Crown St. Enterprise there was so little hassle that it was almost shocking. This is what renting cars should be like. Rachel is very good at her job: she was friendly, got us in and out very quickly, and didn't pressure us into buying insurance or other extras. In fact, she made sure we got the best deal we could, with free days and an extremely cheap upgrade. There weren't any hidden fees and the car was clean, new, and actually very nice (as far as American cars go). I think this is the first time I've rented a car and didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. read more

My experience with Enterprise Rental on Crown St. in New Haven was pretty terrible. I'm very easy going, and made no scene about anything, but I feel obliged to let the rest of you know that you might just choose a different rental location or company if you're able to do so. Someone in New Haven hit my car and they were covered by Progressive Insurance. The Progressive team is *so* nice and easy to deal with. Their professional costumer service skills were outstanding, and I'll sing their praises all day. Not bad for not having a choice in who you deal with. The only unfortunate part of my experience with Progressive is that they have a deal set up with Enterprise so that they can get you in and out quickly and efficiently. Well, they might want to rethink working with the Crown St. Enterprise: -Progressive let me know that Enterprise would call me for a pick up as soon as they heard from the Service Center about the state of my vehicle. They didn't call before 4pm on that day, which was a work day, so I made the call to make sure I'd have a ride out of the city after work. -I called Barbara C. at 4:13pm to schedule a pick up. She let me know that a driver would be at my place of business at 5:00pm - which sounded perfect to me. I left a few minutes ahead of time to make sure I was situated on the curb promptly at 5:00pm. I'm used to waiting - and I'm not impatient - so it was 5:21pm before I made the call to the office for an updated ETA. -I should mention that while this was going on, my Progressive agent and I were in touch about the rental deposit. Barbara had asked me to bring a major credit card. This didn't make sense to me since this car was being paid for and offered to me as part of an insurance arrangement. Barbara insisted it was necessary. My Progressive agent called them directly and sent me an email at 4:58pm stating "I just spoke with Lauren at the Crown St, Enterprise and she will waive your deposit. Please ask for her." -So I called at 5:21, and Lauren immediately blamed me for the lateness - "Did you call 15 minutes ahead like you were supposed to?" Well, no, I had only just made this reservation with Barbara at 4:13pm, and she did not ask me to call again. I asked if someone was on their way and her response was "I just stepped in the office, so I don't know anything about you or your pick up." OK. Thanks, Lauren. (There must be two Laurens working there then?) -I continued to wait there on the curb until 5:42pm when a lovely young man - who had also not been told about my 5:00pm pick up - arrived. He asked me how long I'd been waiting and I was honest. He was apologetic and kind. -At the Crown St. location (finally!) I was given a dirty car (the woman had literally just stepped out of it to return and was still in the lobby - her garbage was still in the glove box) with 2/8 of the gas tank full. I waited for them to wash the outside of car, which was nice, but when I asked if they had any water to drink in the meantime, they didn't. So I give the one star for the young man from San Antonio who was the only person at Crown St. Enterprise to even smile at me - and I'm NICE! I know people lie - people have to lie when they work with the general public, right? But c'mon, Lauren. Jeesh. If you enjoy being treated with respect, or even being acknowledged as a worthy part of a company's business model - choose a different rental place! read more

I rent a car approximately twice a year and have lived in New Haven for three years. The Enterprise on Crown is as good as car rental gets. I usually wouldn't have nice things to say about a rental car company; I generally feel like they are either ripping me off or inconveniencing me in some way,. But this particular operation is top notch. The people are friendly and not forceful, and the pick-up service works well. I am consistently impressed and will continue to use them. read more

They called the next day to check on my satisfaction. They worked with my insurance company regarding payment and even delivered me to the dealer when my car was repaired. The staff are courteous, precise, and always have what you rented--I learned that they go far out of town to pick up a car if they do not have what you reserved before your arrival! This is such a far cry from other places, like Budget on George St., where I have stopped going (they only have your car 25% of the time), even though it is in my backyard.
