Not sure why these reviews are not great. I rented a cargo van last August and Tarique ( not sure of spelling ) was great. Courteous helpful and got a great rate. Truck was there clean and ready to go and what impressed me most was that I was in and out in 15min. Usually these things take forever. Key drop just as easy on return no additional charges. I called to rent it again he is still there and so far all smooth. Other reviews must be a different employee. read more

Rented a car for three days while mine was in the shop. Drove it less than 60 miles during that time. Initially I was pleased with the rate and the service (I didn't like the car itself, but hey, I was renting it, not buying). But shortly after I returned the car, my credit card started getting charged for "rental car tolls" that to date have totaled $150 -- more than I paid to rent the car itself! I went online to "Platepass" to find out what tolls I'd supposedly incurred and I'd have had to drive three times further than my mileage to even get to those places. I called Platepass and they said, oh well, the transponder for that car was probably stolen and you're being charged as if it was in the car. They said they'd give me refund -- to date they haven't, and the charges keep coming. So either Hertz is too dumb to report the transponder as stolen, or they're pocketing these fraudulent charges. Rent from Hertz at your own risk. read more

Be very careful with the Hertz in Bedford Hills. 1) Condition of car report: When I took delivery of the car at the BMW dealership in Mt Kisco, it was the early am. The car was covered in morning dew...and they wanted me to gauge the car for scratches, dents and issues. I told them it was difficult due to the current car condition. 2) They told me the car was 5/8 tank of gas, but the fuel gauge dropped to 1/2 tank within 2 miles of the pickup 3) When I returned the car car at 5/8 (having just filled up) they later charged me $19.27 for gas saying it wasnt at the required level. 4) When I called to discuss they were unable to rectify I feel it is my responsibility to warn others of their poor business practices (as I told Hertz I would do). Sadly, my experience was an unhappy one as well. I stupidly left a valuable rug in the car that picked me up and drove me to this office. When I was given my rental car (a different one) I got in and drove off, forgetting that I had left my rug in the trunk of the pick up car. I drove back to the office with 20 minutes, apologized for my forgetfulness, only to be told that the car containing my rug had been rented and was gone. The branch manager told me that would, indeed, contact the driver, tell her about the rug she was transporting unknowingly, and then call me to reassure me that the rug would be returned, presumably when the rental was due. To make a long story short, I was NEVER contact with an update, despite my returning THREE times to the office to inquire about my rug's whereabouts. I waited to hear from the manager or one of the reps for a week after my third visit, before going once again to the office. I was told by a rep that s/he had no idea where my property was. By chance, another rep happened to overhear this exchange and said that she had the rug. Good, I said. Why didn't you call to let me know? She said she didn't know she was supposed to. For sheer indifference to a client's needs, this place, specifically the branch manager, gets a vote of no confidence. read more

I would avoid these guys. I rented a car from them for couple of hours. Day rate was supposed to be $35 plus tax. A month later my credit card bill came to $57.94. I called them four times and talked to at least 2 different people none of whom could find my record or explain why they overcharged me. They all promised to return my call but never did. I will take this case with BBB. read more
