Needed a rental car while my car was in the repair shop for a week, and my experience with this location was seamless! Unfortunately I didn't have rental insurance, but was able to rent a new Kia sedan with all the features for only about $30 a day with my insurance's reduced rate. The office staff were friendly, helpful, and flexible - they offered for me to drive the car to the repair shop and leave it so I could retrieve my car on my own. The easiest process I've ever been through! Going into this wreck situation I was dreading all the time it was going to take to get my car fixed and all the hassle that comes with that. Little did I know this place turned out to be a godsend. My boyfriend was actually allowed to stop in for me, pick the car up through my insurance information. Quick, easy and painless, no questions asked. My car took a couple more days than we expected so we called to see if we had to bring it back and they said just keep it for as long as you need. What? I mean I get it but it was just like oh, no big deal. So we did! The car was super clean and nice too. We brought it back, signed out and were out of there in less than five minutes. Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Car Rental Near Me - Newport, Kentucky

I've used Enterprise many times over the years, but this location's quality is not consistent with what I've grown accustomed to. Customer Service - when I arrived, they had one person taking care of customer with a line of people that was several deep. An associate continuously made eye contact with me and suggested she would get with me soon, but she continued to answer phone calls at the front desk. So much for taking care of the folks in your shop! The Car - when I took possession of the vehicle, I was informed that the gas tank was empty... So empty that I was advised to go to the gas station next door. I was confused as to why they didn't do this! Also, after shutting all of the windows, I realized that a previous renter had smoked heavily in the vehicle. At that moment I was left with a decision: go back in and fight and line and bad customer service, or get to a meeting that I had at the office. I chose my career, but I later regretted this decision. As a non-smoker, the vehicle literally made me sick to my stomach throughout the week. Folks, save your health/time/sanity and find a different rental car company or perhaps a different enterprise location. This place is a disaster. read more

My husband and I rented a car for September 19-21, 2014 to take to a wedding in Michigan from the Newport Enterprise. We were expecting the $250 deposit thing, because we had rented cars with our debit card before, but what really caught us off guard was the whole "you have to have a totally paid off utility bill with a matching address to your license" thing that the girl waiting on us sprung on us as we were trying to rent the car. Not that it's a big deal for my husband and I to drum up a utility bill that shows as paid off, but if we had an advanced notice to get the bill, we would've been prepared and brought it with us. We asked the girl WHY we had to produce the bill to show them and all she'd tell us is that "it was just something that we just started recently," (that still didn't explain it to us, honey)!! The car itself was fine -- it was a nonsmoking car that had a USB port for my cell for me to use the gps to get to safely to Michigan. The car even had a Michigan license plate on it, which made us laugh, since we were headed to Michigan for a wedding -- talk about irony! Other than the whole utility bill thing, we had an ok experience too. What was even great was that I also got an e-mailed receipt for the car after we returned the car, which was a nice perk that I'd never gotten before now. We'll be renting from the Newport Enterprise again, as long as they don't make it next to impossible to rent from them in the near future here. read more

I rent from enterprise often! The Newport KY location is the worst! I have used this location about two years now and have rented at least a dozen times. I have only ever seen the same person working one time. Every other time it's someone new. The cars are always filthy. I just returned a car that had sticky stuff all over the center console and cigarette ashes everywhere. You could tell someone sprayed something to try to cover it. I went back in to let the guy know that the car was like this and he apologized and said that car had just come in from a different location and told me he'd give me a discount when I brought it back. That night I parked in my garage and when I went into the garage this morning to leave my whole garage reeked if cigarettes! I returned the car today and was given a 20% discount which I appreciate but it is ALWAYS like this at this location! I used to use the Ft Wright location and they were always amazing! WORST COSTUMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! At 23 years old I've rented cars 5-6 times in Cincinnati and in other cities. Seeing as I'm not 25 I'm used to having to pay the 'not of age' fee and I don't mind especially when I'm taking road trips and avoiding putting the mileage on my personal car. This location has by far the worst customer experience I've experienced, not only for a rental car facility, but in general. This morning I had to take my car to a repair shop and the person who was at fault is insured through State Farm who then provided the rental car through enterprise. Originally they were going to give me a car that clearly was rented by a smoker and REEKED of cigarette smoke. As a non-smoker, and one who is EXTREMELY sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke I was so off put at the fact that they were even offering this car to me (not to mention the GIGANTIC brown stain in the front seat! eek!). After requesting a different car the 'only car they had available' was a Mazda (which I had to pay an up charge per day for, even though they are the ones who failed to detail the original car to rid it of the stench). Now in a rush to get to work, I didn't even realize that this car had no automatic locks. Not being able to find the 'lock' button on the driver's/front passenger's door and coming to realize that there wasn't a key fob that locked/unlocked the door I called the enterprise office. I calmly explained to the man working the desk that I couldn't fin the lock button, but I wanted to make sure that the car was locked and secure because I work downtown. He then told me that it was not an automatic car and that I would have to manually lock all of the doors before leaving the car...yes that's right, every time I got in or out of the car (or my passengers) we would have to remember to lock the door. At this point I expressed to him how inconvenient and frustrating that would be for me, seeing as I would have this car for almost a week and his response was 'if you don't unlock all of the doors you wouldn't have to lock them.' Feeling frustrated with his lack of customer service I explained to him that I would like to exchange the car for something more comparable to what I drive daily, and that I get off work at 5:30pm so I would be calling 2 hours prior to ensure that they had a vehicle to swap the Mazda with. I then called to see if I could switch the car in order to avoid a situation where I drive out there only to be further disappointed. When I called at 3:30 like we agreed upon the woman who answered the phone proceeded to argue with me that most cars do not have automatic locks or a key fob entry...which is fine, but mine does so I wanted to request one that had those amenities. She then said that they had a KIA available, but she couldn't guarantee that it would be there at 5:30. Now I'm just extremely frustrated at my experience with enterprise and disappointed in their lack of understanding or caring for their customers. I've never rented from enterprise and I doubt that I ever do if this is how they treat their customers.+ Update: The manager of this branch has since called and apologized for their service. He was very kind & sincere and even waived the up charge fee from the original transaction. I have since gone back to their branch and exchanged the old Mazda for one more comparable to my car. read more

I haven't rented a vehicle in quite a while and needed one to take a trip to Charlotte, NC. for a convention. All young people working there and they made it such an easy task. I reserved it a week before the trip. I went in person and was surprised how easy it was. The pickup was smooth and the trip was also in a Chevy Cruz. Night drop off box made it quick. I'm reluctant to write this review but at the same time I think it is warranted. First of all this isn't personal against the people who work at that particular location, I really don't expect them to do a happy song and dance when I walk in. It is however in response to a policy by this company that I think is particularly baffling. I've been a customer of Enterprise many times in the past and never had this problem before. This particular location is close to my home and it is convenient, however due to their policies of "protecting themselves" I will no longer be a customer. I made an online reservation for the 4th of July weekend and was due to pick up a car on my birthday 7/3. The previous time I had gone to rent a car here I was informed that due to a policy change I was now required to show proof of address in the form of a utility bill since I was using a bank card. I informed the lady that I didn't know this and that none of my utilities were in my name. They insisted and I finally had to go back to my car (a car I chose not to drive on longer trips in the summer because it has no AC) and get the only piece of paper that I had, my auto title, they accepted this but informed me that next time I would need to bring something else. On this occasion, July 3rd when I went to pick up the car for this rental I brought my insurance papers that had been mailed to me thinking that this would be adequate. When I got there and showed my insurance mailing I was informed again that I would need a utility bill showing my name and address on it. I informed the lady (same one as the last time) that this was all I had and that my utilities were in my roommates name. She reluctantly took the insurance papers stating that they had been audited and that "next time I won't be able to accept this." I asked another lady who worked there as the one I was speaking to went to give me the crappiest car they had (complete with dents, etc.) "what are these new policies about?" She told me matter of factly that this was the companies attempt to "protect itself" and to make sure that the money is there in my account, etc. NOTE: I refused their coverage and chose instead to insure the car under my insurance policy. They ask what your deductible is, in my case it's $500, pretty standard and reasonable to ask since I'm choosing to rent the car using my insurance. My comments are this; if I'm renting a car and your company is putting a $250 hold on my car doesn't that show that there is money in my account? If I'm basically showing you my proof of insurance with my name and address on it shouldn't that be sufficient to "protect yourself." I can see maybe requiring someone using a bank card to purchase their insurance on the vehicle but what I can't understand is what exactly a utility bill with my name on it shows them? How does having a utility bill show financial responsibility? In essence I felt as if they were saying to me that I was an undesirable customer and that "next time" they won't be able to rent me a car unless I jump through some hoops and show a utility bill of some sort which in my mind proves absolutely nothing. There won't be a next time. I'm not welcome at Enterprise, my insurance papers, car title, drivers license with my name and address on it aren't acceptable, they want a utility bill or some other document? Thanks Enterprise for making me feel like I"m not good enough to rent from you and Happy Birthday to me I'm glad you were able to "protect yourself" from a repeat customer. I wrecked my car so the insurance paid for a rental. I used enterprise cuz its closest to my house. I didn't have any problems until the end. They had my car for almost a whole month cuz they found extra damages once they started the repairs so it took longer. Well nobody called to tell me my benefit from the insurance had run out cuz I reached my limit of $600. So someone from enterprise called me five days AFTER the insurance had stopped paying to let me know this and that I was being charged the rental fee from the day they stopped paying until then, which like I said had been 5 days at that point at $25 a day plus tax, but they said they had only been notified that morning by the insurance company. So when I called the insurance they said they had notified enterprise like three times and they were aware. Also said that enterprise should have called and notified me as soon as they knew. The manager at the insurance company had the adjuster call enterprise to straighten out the confusion and enterprise told the adjuster that they had notified me of this a few times by phone and voicemail! Which is NOT TRUE. I was only notified once when they called me 5 days after my benefit ran out and they said they had just learned that morning that my benefit ran out. And I still had the voicemail too. So I was furious and was counting on that I was going to have to pay all this extra $$$ I didn't have. The insurance company couldn't do anything for me and told me to try to talk to enterprise manager. So I did, and I can tell you that he was very understanding and in the end enterprise paid the difference so I didn't have to, and I even got a credit back of $100! Which I was very pleased with. I'm not sure where the confusion or mix up happened between the insurance and enterprise, but what I can tell you is if you are ever dealing with an insurance company paying for your rental STAY ON TOP OF THEM AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR BENEFIT MAX IS AND MAKE SURE YOU DONT EXCEED IT. Because my insurance company told me they would have never called me to tell me that my benefit ran out. She said they don't notify the customer, they notify the rental car place and then it's the rental car places responsibility to notify you. Which didn't happen in my case so had I known I had a max on my benefit I would've stayed on top of it but I didn't know. I would have given more stars if there wasn't this mix up. Overall the staff was friendly and accommodating and I would probably use enterprise again in the future. I was very happy when they fixed the problem and paid the difference, honestly I totally wasn't expecting that. But because they did that they kept a customer and I really appreciate that. Only other thing I will say is if you have never been to the Newport location be careful cuz a building down the street has an enterprise sign on it too cuz it was there other location and the sign is still up. We accidentally went to the other building when we were trying to find it. The correct location is closer to the Newport shopping center and bob Evans. read more

I have been a customer of Enterprise for many years. I usually go to the Anderson Ohio branch but I made a reservation at the Monmouth Street branch in Newport KY. I had just gotten back into town from vacation and had to turn around to attend a social work conference in Columbus Ohio. I just made it to the branch before they closed. I told the guy that I did not have enough time to get to the bank and I had the amount the rental was going to cost for two days on my card but I had the deposit in cash. The guy says I can't do that, I said well I have been a customer of Enterprise for a long time and it has never been an issue. He then says well if you have been a customer of ours for a long time then you would know about the deposit. I said I do know about the deposit and I have it in cash. He responds we do not deal with cash we haven't in 5 years. I said the branch I normally go to always works with me. He then replies well that must of been in another country because we don't do that in America. He was the rudest person I have ever met he should not be allowed to deal with customers. I have worked in sales and customer service for 17 yrs and he is an embarrassment to your brand. I did not get his name because I left hurriedly before I told him what I really thought. He was middle aged, going bald, and over weight man. I read some reviews later and I wish I would have made the 30 minute drive to Anderson to pick up my rental. The reason I need a rental is because my van will not fit in the hotel garage. This is a complete inconvenience and I am absolutely offended. Thank you read more
