Terrible Hertz experience. Made a reservation through Expedia in New Orleans. Day before pick up, local office called and left a voicemail that they can't honor the reservation. Told me to call the central reservation line. Called and after talking to three people, gave me a car at twice the original price, with pick up from another location. Had no place to stay, and had to get to a family reunion in Florida, so I was stuck. When I complained, Hertz customer service says that the conditions changes so the rate changes. Even though they did not honor the reservation. Their response was that they were sorry for MY misunderstanding. Stay away from Hertz. read more

Where do I even begin?! The problems started when I arrived at the location at 8:00am, and it was CLOSED! There was a line outside. We were informed by some man that he didn't have access to computers and for us to return at 9:30. I got back at 9:44 and did not leave until 11:10. After being checked in, I was told he had to go clean the car first. After about 20 minutes he comes back and says the SUV smells too bad to rent and there are no others. Tells me I can choose a bigger SUV or car. I choose a car. There's no price adjustment for the car class change or anything. He finally brings the car out and it's FILTHY. Fast forward to returning the car. I get to the office at 2:00pm and the door is locked and there is a note on the door saying to call customer service. Customer service tells me to park the car and leave keys in the drop box. I am naturally apprehensive because this Hertz location (and possibly ALL locations) is completely inept. I record the car's condition and fuel level and myself leaving the keys. The next morning, my cc is charged AGAIN and AGAIN the next day. Needless to say, I will slander Hertz every chance I get and will never recommend this company to ANYONE. read more

DO NOT rent a car from this location! The customer service is absolutely horrendous! My insurance company booked a reservation for a car while my car is being fixed. The first man that I talked to was extremely rude on the phone ranting and raving about how insurance companies were liars and crooks. He confirmed my reservation and said that they wouldn't have anything available until noon the next day. I called around 9:30am the following morning to double check my reservation and the woman on the phone was extremely rude and told me that they didn't have any cars despite my reservation! I rented a car for which I prepaid. I was running late...it happens when you're traveling. I called and was told my car was no longer available but they could rent one to me for $30 more per day. I was then told as long as you call within two hours you're fine. (Why they don't hold a car for someone who has paid for it is beyond me.) When I realized that I was calling less than two hours after the reservation started, the story changed to "you're calling just 10 minutes less than two hours." They would not honor the price. When I asked to speak the manager I was told I was speaking to him. That's the quality of customer service you're likely to get here. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars. Last week my Hertz rental car broke down after only driving for 40 minutes leaving me stranded on the side of a busy highway. Their rude customer service sent AAA to the wrong location so I was stuck there for 2.5 hours. When they finally arrived, they drove me to the "nearest" Hertz location at the Louisville airport whereupon the manager there said I'd get another car -- but at full price. Initially he didn't even apologize for my experience that day. I've tried to call the Cincinnati office three times now, leaving messages each time but still no call back. In fact, I've now received two robo-calls from the company saying that I need to return the car. I'd rather walk 20 miles then ever deal with this company again. Stay away from Hertz!!! read more

The Elm St location downtown Cincinnati I guess decided to close early not by minutes, but by HOURS and we ended up having to go to the airport to drop off which was a fiasco in and of itself. When we rented the car in Steubensville Ohio we were told specifically we should return it to the Elm St. location (which is nowhere near where we live btw) by 4pm. And we were early. So, either one location just assumed the other would be open OR the return location isn't operating inside the posted hours. Which is it? We'll never know, because no one takes responsibility in bottom up businesses like this. Also, the vehicle itself was not clean and smelled like someone had been smoking in it. We rented a car from Hertz for ten days for our daughters wedding We i arrived to pick up car they were very busy. Two people were working Jessica the manager and a young black man who was new The young man was very rude to another customer He claimed the asian customer was rude to him There were four other customers including myself in the waiting room When the young black man left to get the asian man his car we all looked at each other and commented we didn't hear anything rude from the asian customer We counted it up to Hertz being understaffed and the clerk being new and maybe super sensitive Finally it was my turn to pick up my reserved car. The young clerk was nice to me but complained to me and the other customers about the asian customer. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. His boss Jessica was oblivious to the whole encounter as she was helping customers and in and out if the office. When i got my car my car i noted it was only a forth of a tank full this was the case of the man in front of me too he insisted it be filled He was met with some grumbling and complaints about them being too busy and understaffed I was told just bring it back with as much gas as you got i was fine with that When i brought the car back i had the tank filled to 3/4 of a tank or in their terms 6/8 that is a half a tank more than i was given. On my bill i was charged 39.90 for not bringing back the car full I went through the process of calling the company I talked with three people who call talked to me like i was lying and trying to beat them out if money I was asked why i didn't take a picture of the gas gauge upon acceptance. Why would i think to do that ? I finally talked to Rafael from south America who stated he was the highest representative i was allowed to speak with! I called the cincinnati office in hopes i could talk with the clerk who told me i could just return the care as full as i received it The day manager told me to call the next day to talk with Jessica who was the manager on that day I did call the next day to hear she was busy and she would call me back At 4pm i still had not heard back so i called again three times only to be hung up on I will not rent from them again and at other rental companies ive never had this issue Please insist no matter how busy or nasty their clerks are to have a full tank at pick up and take a picture! read more

I have dealt with Hertz here before and things ran smoothly...however, this last set of incidents make me question whether corporate understands the locals lack of care for customer needs, specific wishes, cleanliness of vehicles, inability to fill s gas tank before one drives off the lot and screaming at their customers over the phone which he claims is his forceful business voice. While there several other folks turned in vehicles that they claimed smelled like *** . Check your billing. This manager is clearly not following business protocol. read more

Wish I could no stars. What a dismal experience. I rented a car at their Cincinnati office. After driving less than an hour the car breaks down leaving me on the side of the highway. Their roadside customer service (which takes, on average, 17 minutes to answer your call) took the wrong location down. Long story short, after 2.5 hours a tow truck arrived. They inexplicably drove me to Louisville where the manager there says he can't give me a discount but will give me a voucher for a future car rental. Stay away from this company!! Would not recommend. I needed to change the time of my rental and attempted to call the Elm street office for no one to answer. Recording said to change reservations online because using a customer service rep would result in a 5% charge. After being unable to change on line decided to call the representative who then changed my pickup time and said they wouldn't charge the 5%. After arriving at the location to get my rental they state that the never received the updated rental and if I still wanted a car it would be $35 extra an hr because all they had were suv. Stated it wasn't my fault that you never received the adjusted rental and that I should just get upgraded. They stated that they've been answering the phone all day and even after reading their number off to them and showing my call log showing how many times I called, they refused to correct their mistake. Never fucking again, worst service ever. I usually never complain, I just never return, the the service I received here and the attitude of the people in that office was disgusting and I p,an on writing corporate. read more

I've always had a great experience when renting at the downtown Hertz. The staff is always nice and helpful.

Worse experience I have ever had, I left some items in the car I rented. I called back to see if had found anything, was put in hold for ten mins. So I called back a second time, they picked up without saying a word, and they hung up the phone. So I called a third time, they picked up, without saying a word, and put me on hold. Two mins later, they pick up the phone, saying their was nothing in the car unless it was in the trunk, Which I told the guy in the first place, my belongs was in the truck, so then he goes on to tell me that they did look everywhere in the car, their was nothing. But I say the other guy (Keith) just said he didn't check the truck. Then he tells me that the car has been rented out already so he starts saying we aren't responsible for it, but if you would of did your job, search the car, and THE Trunk, you would of find my stuff instead of getting a bad review for poor customer service and bad business!!!! This location gave my reserved car away, stranding me in downtown Cincinnati with my luggage! I had a reservation for days prior to pickup. My pickup time was 8:00 am but I got to the location at 9:30 to find that my car had been given away because I was later than the "one hour grace period." There is not a one-hour grace period, we have since called corporate and spoken to a clerk at another location who assured us this was not a thing. I asked the clerk if there was anything he could do for me, and he was very short and unhelpful. He recommended I take an uber (at my expense) to the airport, but didn't even offer to call that location to honor my contract there! He said he had literally no cars left, which was a lie as I later watched them bring a car around for a pair of ladies who walked in. Which means they had cars, they just didn't want to honor my contract. I suspect that if I had showed up at 8 I would not have had a car for some other reason. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! They obviously do not care about the customer if they are willing to strand a single woman downtown with her suitcase! read more
