When my wife drove into Enterprise's Campus Drive lot in Newport Beach to return the car we had rented, she found only one empty space marked "Car Return Only." She approached slowly, because there were cars in the two adjacent and not very wide spaces. When we talked to a staff person at the desk, he told us that the car had been damaged in the space by hitting a "lighting fixture." I saw a small dent and scratches in the corner of the front bumper. I photographed the space, after realizing what my wife had hit was not the lighting fixture but a large concrete pier that anchored a light pole in the parking space . There were no warning signs or markings concerning the pier, which was 18 inches wide and about 2 feet high. We didn't want to involve our insurance and opted instead to pay for the damage ourselves. I was asked to sign a form that I understood to mean we accepted some liability. But as I said to a staff person, it was clear that the pier was unmarked and would have been invisible to a driver, especially one worrying about cars in adjacent spaces, since it without the usual yellow stripe markings it would blend in with the concrete brick wall behind. The photo shows a car comfortably parked in an adjacent space (without a pier), and much closer to the curb and wall than the pier in our space. A previous customer had left a soda can on the pier, which makes it easy to gauge the pier's diameter: About 18 inches. We believe that the absence of any warning signs or markings on the pier or the wall mean that Enterprise shares liability for the damage. We expected to be out a couple of hundred dollars. But the "Damage Recovery" bill asks $975: Item Total Cost Amount Due Damage $625.90 Sublet $250.00 Admin Fees $100.00 Total Amount Due: $ 975.90 That is a ridiculous amount. Even the damage amount is way higher than is usual in my experience, and the extra Sublet and Administrative Fees are simply unexplained and undetailed. No information about who did the repair and whether Enterprises was in fact charged anything or paid anything. I called Damage Recovery and was told I had no recourse beyond contacting the Campus Drive branch, which I did. I was told a regional manager would call me back. He never did, in spite of my calling the branch back more than once. I accepted some liability and would have been happy to discuss a settlement. Now I have no intention of paying anything. I look forward to seeing these people in court. read more

However, I will say that the bigger issue is the radio does not work on my vehicle and I feel that should be checked during regular maintenance before pawning it off on another unsuspecting customer! He is argumentative with you and doesn't like when you are leaving a complaint with customer service. I came in here very stressed out this morning because I was given an extremely dirty car from a different Enterprise location. I think his name was Casey (please correct me so I can update my review) but he was EXTREMELY HELPFUL. He made the process of switching out my dirty car for a new one so easy. I recently had a car accident and my car was totaled. Mercury insurance covered it and sent me to enterprise for a car rental while I was waiting for a settlement offer. Although the daily reimbursement rate was not very high, the manager Christian fixed me up with a car at no extra cost to me. It was a lovely little Toyota Corolla. The selection of cars here is nice, with the option to go exotic if you want. My complaints are that I had an 8:30 appointment yet I still had to wait for the car I preselected the night before to be cleaned. And then the car they gave me has low tire pressure warning. We are now 45 min into picking up this car. I really want to get on the road. And to update this - I had to watch the tire pressure monitor the entire trip. They filled the tires to 55lbs when I left. 20 min into the the drive the right rear has gone down to 45. You could feel the difference. I filled the tire twice in my day. Not a pleasant experience having to worry about it. And two other mishaps to report. The transmission on the Mercedes went into manual mode and wouldn't come out 3 times. I had to pull over and restart the far. I drive a MB so I know it was nothing I did. They can see the issue when they get it checked. The faults will tell them. And the heated seats stopped working on the way home. Just a topper on my day. They gave me $17 off (about 15%) but it still seems like it was a work out car that shouldn't have been on the road or wasn't maintained. read more

I've been a loyal enterprise customer for years. Recently I had a reservation. Cancelled it but then needed to rebook again. A $150 car shot up to $750 for the same car a day later. This was for a one day rental. Apparently they are now doing surge pricing. I ended up renting the car on Turo for $140. Enterprise you priced yourself out of business and lost a customer on the process for trying to rip me off. read more

The day after Christmas.... Absolute chaos this weekend with flights getting cancelled and delayed. We needed a rental to get back to Las Vegas after multiple delays and cancellations of our flight (as did 40-50 people just this morning). We got a last minute rental car through enterprise. When we arrived the lobby was full and the area manager, Will, was orchestrating the chaos wonderfully. There were multiple unreasonable guests demanding upgrades and discounts and he was respectful, accommodating, and honestly put up with a lot more than I would have. They got us in and out as quickly as possible while rearranging staff and organizing more cars to be brought in from other stores in the area. I have been renting from a different location for 2 months now without problem. I was called by rep at this location and told I needed to physically come in to renew my 30 days. I came in next day and I told the young lady I want to switch out my car because it needs maintenance. She came back and told me the car was not scheduled for another 2 weeks why dont I just keep for another 30 days. I told her no I want to switch. I give my license n credit card. She returns after charging my card and tells me the rate was raised. Noone told me before where I could have gone to another company. She brought the car to me and it was filthy, the front end was encrusted with high dead insects. When I noticed that I asked her if it was going to be cleaned. She told me she first needed my signature. I signed she was back within 20 mins. I was in a hurry so I filled my car but first asked for a copy of rental contract. I usually get it email n I had not recieved it. She told me she would. Here it is the next day and I still dont have a copy. What really disgusted me was the fact that the inside was filthy. On passenger front dash someone put dirty feet. They state in tv ad that they disinfect all their cars. This car was not even cleaned let alone disinfected. I had to take out my wipes and wipe down what I could. I had already left the lot before I started to notice all of this. I immediately called the 800 number to complain. The rep told me he put my call as urgent and priority. I have yet recieved a call. I had to call again but the woman at 800 number first tells me that they have a lot of calls to deal with and if I dont get a call in a few days. I stopped her and said are u kidding me "a few days"? She then chuckled and told me someone will be calling. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING FIRST OF ALL AMONG OTHER BAD OR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!! But in this day and time disinfecting for me was big, so they lied. I have rented from this company for 6 years and 3 of those years were consecutive so they have lost a good customer. I highly recommend going to ANY other location. My dealership rented me a car temporarily until my car was ready to go-an this process was taking a bit longer. I took over the rental halfway through and when I did? I was receiving threatening calls almost immediately telling me they would report the car as stolen if I didn't pay the balance up front or return the vehicle, and then telling me that they had run my card multiple times for charges I did not approve. Their answer to my questions about that? "We called you and asked you if you had the rental. Clearly that shows you understand what charges we are talking about." I'm sorry, what? I wasn't sure when I would have my car back but thank you for being rude and shady. Don't rent from this location-they're not up front about anything and have strong armed me into this whole situation. Beware. And come prepared with a printout of your reservation rate if you decide to rent from this place. A friend and I rented a car from them in August 2012. Here is a list of our issues: Problem 1: They didn't have the car we requested. Their answer: free upgrade. We didn't want an upgrade; we wanted a small car. We settled for a car that was actually 2 sizes up. Not a huge deal, but my friend didn't drive the car at all because she wasn't comfortable driving the larger model so I did all the driving on our trip. Problem 2: They tried to charge us a higher rate at the time we picked up the car ($107.28) than the one we had reserved over the phone through Enterprise ($86.16), which sent us a confirmation email with the price. The 'system' generated the higher rate, which the rep listed on our rental agreement. We had to produce a copy of our reservation email showing the lower rate. Thank goodness we brought it with us. At that point, the CS rep had to clear this with his manager for us to get the rate we should have gotten with no hassles. Big Problem 3: When I got my credit card statement, I realized that I was charged an additional $118.84 for our 4 day rental (for a total of $205.00). After calling the national customer service number, I discovered that this Enterprise location had charged me for insurance. At the time I rented the car, I clearly initially ALL 5 boxes to decline the damage waiver. I remember this because the CS rep was trying to "upsell" this service to us, which I declined. I appraised the local office of this overcharge and was offered a credit. However, they were only going to refund me the difference of the higher rate ($205.00 - $107.28 = $97.72 instead of $205.00 - $86.16 = $118.84). In other words, even after they agreed to refund my overcharge, they still wanted to suck an extra $21.12 ($118.84 - $97.72) out of me. It was only after I emailed them a scan of signed rental agreement that they agreed to refund the correct amount. They did end up refunding me fully, but with the amount of aggravation I had to go through with this company, I would not do business with them again. read more
