    This has been terrible.... we were in a car wreck and our van is totaled. USAA uses Enterprise. There are NO cars available.

I had to carry a tire inflator and stopped 3 times to inflate that tire because of warnings. I called the 800 Avis number when we arrived in Steamboat Springs. That was an interesting call. She told me she couldn't help. I had to return the car. Please understand, driving down a wild road with no help for miles and we have a warning light going off and telling us in even more serious messages. Was the tire defective? A nail? Yes, it was appropriate that we had a reliable vehicle. When I contacted the airport, 30 miles out of town, he was very kind and said yes, he had three cars. So it is difficult to understand how the 800 help number could find no cars, but I could. We drove out, while on our vacation, and exchanged cars. Did I fill that defective car up with gas? No, I did not. Do you really think it was appropriate that I take a day to correct an Avis maintenance issue? I do not. I was billed for that gas. Yes, billed. That is ridiculous, is it not? When we returned the "clean" car, we filled it up with gas and furnished Sanka with that receipt. He told us that he could make no adjustment to our bill because we had pre paid it. Yes, since the 12th of April, Avis has been earning interest on the $1,300 bill I paid. And to tell me that no adjustment could be made because I have pre paid it is well, frankly, unconscionable. The only adjustments he could make was for the second driver charge. A charge which I shouldn't have had, because I thought this was booked through Costco and there was no fee. The Avis representative at the store told us, that if we wanted that changed we would have to book through Costco. Frankly with World Cup soccer in town, I didn't think that would be likely. There is nothing acceptable about the adjustment that was made. I never should have been charged in the first place. Will never use their "service" again

Let's start from the beginning: Called location to verify a car for an insurance claim was available as I didn't want to get a ride there and it's not. The phone rang for 10 mins the first time, I hung up and called right back, this time 9 mins. No one ever answered. I went online to reserve and the soonest I could pickup was 2 hours. I arrived one hour after and was not acknowledged for 10 mins. So unorganized and customers waiting for Uber leases were sitting around for close to two hours as there is only one person to do that. The staff are all working in disarray, no sense of structure. While waiting, I overheard the manager, Robert say things to customers like, "The system lets you reserve a car online even though we don't have anything; we have cars in our fleet but I can't rent out because the car registrations need to be renewed; I don't have anything available because some of the cars need oil changes or service work. I finally got called to be helped. I asked him about the phones, he said they are in the back office. At no time during my visit did I hear a phone ring. Either they are literally in the back, or it's not something they can handle with how chaotic the store is. When calling the 800 number, they say you have to call the local office for specific questions but how when noone can be reached? It's so unprofessional for a national business. They seem to not be able to find my reservation and when they did, they didn't have the car size available. They said that he can put me in something smaller and I can "email" him next week to see if anything else has come in that he can switch me to. I tried to finish the process, asked him if I can use tap. He said "not for insurance claims, it's a different system and the insurance system is archaic." While he was trying to finish up my transaction, he was called in several directions and nothing flowed. Several customers were waiting outside for a car to go to the car wash and be cleaned out or was told that nothing was available after waiting with a confirmed reservation. Once I got my car, it was not vacuumed and it had a nice sized chip in the front windshield. The person that gave me my car says, "These new cars don't have durable windshields like they used to so this has a chip. But it'll be okay to drive." I'm quite sure the customer was charged for it even though it's not fixed. I asked for the car to be changed out for another that I felt would be safer but of course, nothing was available. I asked if it can be cleaned out. The manager, Robert said that it should've and he will go and do it himself. A few minutes later he said that his porter will take care of it. The porter brought it back after running through a car wash but the inside was still not vacuumed. After being here for over an hour, i was fed up. I just took the car and left. For a 2026 SUV with 15K miles on it, it drives older. It seems that maintenance hasn't been done on the vehicle. I called my claims adjuster to inform of the poor service and she apologized. Said that she will cancel the reservation and send it over to Enterprise. I can't believe that had such an ordeal. I am sure it's going to be a headache of returning. I don't look forward to it.

    Hey Avis, can you help out this location?…read more I'm truly a little torn on this review because the state of this Avis location I do not think is fully its own fault but rather a lack of resources. When you walk in I can only think to describe it as the saddest rental car location I've yet to visit. It's hot-I think the AC was out as there was a fan running in the waiting room area, it's visibly dirty, and the place just felt like it was in bad shape. The person working though was very kind and helpful. I could tell he was doing his best to run this place to the best of his ability perhaps despite a lack of resources from his employer. This is just an observation I will add as we did not discuss the state of this Avis at all. There was a hand written sign on the front desk that said no overnight parking which honestly really gave me a panic as I am accustomed to being able to do that when renting a car and had driven here, needing to get on the road in my rental very soon. I asked the gentleman behind the counter about it and he said since I was only needing one night it wouldn't be a problem but the spot he instructed me to park in was a fire lane which gave me some pause, but I went with it and ultimately I was OK. I will say though, had he denied me parking I would have been pretty upset as it wasn't stated anywhere online that there wasn't parking available and it's kind of hard to just throw that on a customer, in my opinion. Avis was kind enough to upgrade me to a bigger vehicle, and I was on my way! It was overall easy enough to get in and out but like I said, corporate needs to invest more into this location if it's going to continue operating as an Avis. It's just not up to the standards I'd expect.
