They claimed we might have had the tail light selection switched off of "auto" or that one of the workers might have nudged the tail light on/off switch when clearing the car. WTF! Rented a car & check in was smooth. Staff asked for my ID & I signed a few items. Everything was done within less than 10 minutes. When I went down to pick up my car, I was upgraded because they were out of the car I wanted. Overall, the entire process was easy & so was dropping off the rental except be careful about the gas. I filled up the tank all the way which was 439 miles then I checked the pictures when I picked up the car it was only 328 miles so I Filled extra extra gas for them & gas prices are about $5+ to almost $6 dollars a gallon right now so spent extra money didn't need to read more

I had to get a car rental since my car was hit and the insurance company was being more difficult than needed. I use my car for work taking clients, going on appointments, etc. I went to Enterprise Rent a car of SW Pine in Portland and had two employees (Annika and Cyrah) who were helping me navigate the rental process. The insurance company (I am deciding to not say there name) was being overly diffcult to accept my car rental and these two employees were being so kind and helping me kill time waiting for the approval. I got to know who they were as people not just employees and we all hit it off. Come to find out they were/are Psychology majors in college (the same degree I received). They not only were helpful by distracting me with questions and engaging conversations but were funny and down to earth. These girls are definitely going places in the world. Not only the company I work for but personally I have chose Enterprise over the competition for its great customer service and fair pricing. Their cars are in great condition and they sell them once they get to be 20 to 30,000 miles it seems... In other words there's no junk rentals here. I ran into a bit of an issue with my contract that someone working the counter late at night apparently didn't enter everything correctly in the computer but after talking to Terell in the management office he was able to resolve all my issues and was so knowledgeable and helpful . OK, well I must say this was a huge disappointment as we landed thinking that it would take no more than 30 minutes maybe 45 minutes to collect our car. Approaching almost 2 hours from the time we checked in to the time, we waited in the line to get our car . Which they did not have . They offered us a small car which in no way compared to the SUV that we reserved at almost 2 hours and late four hours reservation in Portland. They ended up giving us a larger SUV . Enterprise will charge you extra fees for citations that you did not receive or 'earn'. I rented a car to visit friends in the area, and after I had returned home, I got an email from Enterprise saying that because I got a citation while using one of their cars, I would be charged a fee. I follow traffic laws to a T, and double-checked parking rules anywhere I parked, I never received a citation either on my windshield, from a cop, or in the mail, so I was very confused by this. I looked up the license plate number in Tigard (where I supposedly received a parking citation, even though I ONLY parked in my friends house's private driveway) and there were literally THOUSANDS of traffic camera citations for the license plate, spanning months, with timestamps just seconds apart and locations across Tigard that would be physically impossible (ie a speeding ticket in one area and 1 second later running a red light citation completely across town). Any person with common sense would see this and assume that either the license plate had been duped or someone is running some sort of scam. When I contacted Enterprise, they told me the citation is probably in the mail and to wait for it to arrive. To no one's surprise, it never arrived because it was a bogus citation to begin with, as I told the CS rep to begin with. I repeatedly tried to contact Enterprise 3 months after my rental to have the Enterprise fee refunded and they ignored the issue. At this point, if you looked up the license plate, it had a clean record, no citations listed. For what it's worth, if I actually did mess up and received a citation for my own actions, I would take full responsibility but that wasn't the case here. Enterprise just straight-up stole from me using an imaginary scenario to justify it. Will never use Enterprise again, such a shady thieving company. For our first family trip together, I wanted to make sure that we traveled in a vehicle that was comfortable and safe. My son specifically requested that I rent an SUV with captain chairs; although I couldn't guarantee the captain chairs, I granted his wish by renting an SUV. Following a short flight from Sacramento to Portland, we retrieved our bags and headed to the Enterprise rental car check in area. A friendly Enterprise employee checked us in, and directed us to the garage area where another employee would provide us with a vehicle. An employee by the name of Esther Eastman warmly greeted us and provided us with three SUVS to choose from. After doing a quick assessment, my son selected a 2023 Toyota Highlander. Ironically, the Highlander had captain chairs (yay!) and rear passenger charging ports so that my son could charge his iPad while watching movies. While my son marveled over the captain chairs and the third row seating (ironically my 10 year old self was similarly impressed by these kind of features), Esther gave me a brief run down of the Highlander and started the vehicle check out process. After obtaining all of the required signatures, Esther went above and beyond the call of duty by sharing a few Portland landmarks that we should visit. Although we already had a list of popular tourist spots, I definitely appreciate hearing what local residents like to do. Esther also shared with me that the State of Oregon recently passed a new law lifting a ban on self-service gas stations. This tidbit of information was very helpful when I later found myself wondering why a fuel attendant was hovering near me as I pumped gas in nearby Beaverton. Since the pandemic's impact on the workforce, I have noticed that good customer service is a rarity. Therefore, it was definitely a breath of fresh air to meet an individual like Esther who not only takes pride in doing her job, but is really passionate about visitors enjoying their time in Portland and surrounding areas. If they do, you're SOL. I decide to return to companies based on how they resolve their own mistakes. This is my first time at the Portland PDX airport and at the Enterprise rental, the representative who assisted me name was Terrell Mims, he provided great customer service, answered all my questions, also gave me some advice on GPS and the car map as I needed to travel to Seaside, Oregon. The process was smooth clear, no hidden fees, I was in and out to pick my car in a timely manner and they even followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the vehicle and if I had any additional concerns or questions. When I return the vehicle, I was met with the representative who was very professional and provided a great fast return process. I flew in this past weekend, with a compact reservation, received a free upgrade to full size. Check in was quick and easy, no more than 6 mins. @ the front desk. They had plenty of vehicle selection to choose from, and all the staff was friendly and professional. The vehicle was freshly washed and clean with no odor. Returning the vehicle was also a smooth ride, and was given 2 free early hour arrival, which reduced my total. I'd give them 10 starts if given the option! Rented from Portland Int'l Airport for a rental lasting over a week. Our "Sporty" car was a 2023 Camaro, which was a very good car overall. It helped us enjoy our vacation, and have fun. The Enterprise personnel were friendly and professional. On the last day of our rental, we became concerned about a tire which was losing air pressure rapidly. When we reported this to Enterprise, they gave us a credit. We felt that Enterprise went above and beyond and turned a potential problem into an opportunity. EDIT 3/18/20: Abysmal customer service. I have been routed around to the Damages department at Enterprise. I have sent them a screenshot clearly showing the damage was already present when checking the car out (see attached pictures showing side by side comparison) and I get told that they are proceeding with charging me for damage. Here's the bottom line - Enterprise Car Rental will cheat you out of your money and will try to make you pay for damage that you didn't cause despite abundant proof to the contrary. Do NOT rent from here. EDIT 3/14/20: I have sent an email to care@enterprise.com per the Business request below and am now awaiting a response. Out of countless reviews, this is the only place I've given a 1-star rating. I'll keep this short and to the point - We rented a car in Portland for 1 day (less than 12 hours) from Enterprise. The employee who handed over the car did a very fast and cursory review. She used her phone as a light to check over the car. It was pretty dim in the parking garage and there wasn't much space to get a good look at the car - especially since the car was black. Regardless, I took a video walking around the entire car just in case. We had no issues with the car during the entire day. Upon returning the car, a different employee came with a flashlight and did a much more detailed inspection. He pointed out a dent which wasn't noticeable to the naked eye, and barely noticeable until he shined a light directly over it. We showed him the video we took earlier in the day and he called a manager over. The manager said another person named Mandy would need to make a decision. This is despite the fact that the initial employee did not use a flashlight in her initial review and despite me having video proof that the car is in the same condition as it was checked out. I was told that I would be getting a call from Mandy the very next morning. If she didn't call, I was given a number to follow-up. I haven't received a single call from Enterprise or Mandy and it has been several days. I have been calling the manager on call number every morning and no one has picked up the phone. My summary? Don't rent from here. They will do a cursory initial review and then pick over the car with a fine tooth comb upon return. They will try to charge you extra money regardless of however much evidence you provide. And then when you try to resolve the situation, they will not answer your calls. 3 couple, 3 vehicle reservations, 3 mistakes This is amazing. Three separate couples, three separate reservations, and they screwed up all three. We reserved a luxury SUV for $300 extra. When we got to the airport, they didn't have any, so we got "upgraded" to a Toyota Rav 4. Another couple also reserved an full-size SUV and - as you know already, they didn't have any. They were also "upgraded" to a midsize SUV. The third couple got the sports car package but their Mustang wasn't available - go figure. They did end up with a BMW, but the low tire pressure was on. When we went to talk to the representative, he said, "Oh no, we just filled the tires up yesterday. It's fine and must be faulty." We had dinner reservations in Lincoln City, so we had to go and take the guy at his word. The next morning, as we were all set to go hiking, the BMW has a flat tire. Who could have foreseen this? Per Enterprise, they have to drive from the Portland airport with a tow truck, and it will be 4-6 hours to get here. They then said we were required to ride with the tow truck driver back to the airport to get a new car. We're like, can't they just come change the tire? Nope. Deliver a new car. Give us a refund. I rented a full-size Chevy Malibu last weekend, which happens to be the updated version of my first car back in 1974. Obviously, the ride and performance is different, and fortunately in a good way. However, Portland traffic has it's own quirks (like multiple non-signaled quick lane shifts), but in the end, I returned the car with a full tank of gas without any damage, driving tales to tell, or performance issues. The new twist was our first visit to the new rental car center, located within the main parking lot next to the Departures/Arrivals area. It's a bit of a walk to and from the center, and there's some unfinished business regarding both internal and return signage. But past that, it was a convenient pleasure to skip a shuttle and drive right out and back in. Plus, the Enterprise/Alamo/National Employees were a pleasure. read more

During my prior visit to Portland, I rented from an offsite Enterprise location and had an excellent experience. This time around, I decided to rent from this location since it's conveniently located right inside of the airport. Best decision that I could have made! My entire experience was fabulous from start to finish. When I arrived at PDX, I received an email from Enterprise notifying me that my rental was waiting for me downstairs. Maybe I came at a good time, but the wait was short and the process was fast and painless. Nikko assisted me with my rental paperwork and was AWESOME! Give that man a raise, PLEASE! Very personable and very helpful. He told me about his self-service gas station adventures in San Francisco and how it just wasn't for him. Hey, I totally get it because I'm not a fan of the full service gas practices that Oregon has either, but I digress. I don't know the names of the other two associates who helped me, but they were both equally just as charming and helpful. They had a sparkling clean Volkswagen Jetta waiting and I hopped right in (after the inspection, of course)! It was thoroughly cleaned and I had no problems operating the vehicle. The sweet lady at the exit gave me some great suggestions for things to do while I was there before I left. The vehicle drove smoothly and had no problems with it whatsoever. When I returned the vehicle, the gentlemen in the garage were quick to assist me and told me where to go to reach the boarding area. They released the security hold in just a few days and there were no mysterious charges on my account, not to mention the great competitive rate that I received for my rental. My usual experience with car rental companies is often just being happy I managed to get a running vehicle. This time was much better. I made the reservation several months in advance for a mid sized economy car. Got the email 24 hours prior to arrival to check in so I was able to go directly to the car lot to get a vehicle. Admittedly, it was apparently a slow time of day, there were 4 employees standing outside the Enterprise kiosk, but one of them saw me coming and immediately walked towards me and introduced himself ( I am terrible with names so unfortunately I can't remember his name, but he was originally from Rwanda ) and asked my name to look up the reservation. Within 15 seconds he said follow me and I'll show you what's available. There were 4 cars that he allowed me to choose from, including a Honda Accord hybrid that was apparently parked in the wrong area so I got a minor upgrade. Which wasn't so minor since I did quite a lot of driving while there and averaged 45mpg so that was great, it definitely saved me money on fuel. Really though, what prompted this review was the gentleman that helped me, he was awesome and I would be remiss if I didn't give him props for his excellent customer service. read more

However, long lines were to be expected, Saturday Travel, and lack of cars was not to be expected. The inside counter had to check me in with the free rental. And boy was that a show. The manager never seen my type of rental. I told him I travel a lot for work. I figured I would use my free rental before my points reset as I have several jobs that will pay for my rental. He looked at me and asked what I do. I answered. After a few more words. Another manager walked out the door. Mentioned well "he is using that free rental" then looked back at me. Walked out the door. Ok??? My rental agent then said ok and walked me to my car. She walked me to a beat up, shot up, bullet ridden Nissan Kick(pictures attached with the bullets embedded in the paint). No joke!! Paint chipped bullet ridden cars......I was shocked. I told the agent that I am not renting this. And she said she will take a note of the damage and tried to give me the pad to sign. I told her. You will rent me something else. Even if it is an upgrade. She stated well there's that Suv there and there for $11 more. I said its my free upgrade. I can get a camaro or convertible Mazerati if needed. Before she even answered, 3 brand new compact cars, freshly washed and cleaned entered the facility. I said rent me this car. Which she did. Signed the pad and walked away to the next customer. Not telling anyone about the dirty bullet ridden car still on the lot for rent. Again. This was a crazy story in Portland. But pics are attached. Vehicle #1 pics attached. Not even cleaned. Wipers possible damaged as well. No joke. This was a rental....A Damaged license plate and bullets danage in the chassis, frame, and fenders. (Much better now with a straight walk than before when you had to go upstairs or take an elevator), We got lucky and no line and Nam helped us inside the brand new counter, got us on our way directing us a short walk in covered parking. What a horrible check in experience! Even after having advance reservations, it took nearly an hour to get a vehicle. Like, do you really need an employee to walk EVERY customer to their car? Everywhere else they just tell you the number and you walk to your vehicle and it has the keys ready for you to drive off with the top off and your hair blowing in the wind. I mean, I get it, its protocol and what not and I'm not blaming the staff because they have to follow the instructions from the man, but geeze those instructions need major improvements! Every enterprise has the best dressed and best customer service always. It starts with an incredible user friendly app. Note that if you're doing a day trip you'll need to call customer service but even then it's a fantastic experience to go through. This round I used their phone service to rent. Pleasing and fast. Upon pick up of the vehicle it's a simple five minute procedure before heading to level P2 to pick a car. As you get into line there is a greeter with a tablet that shows you your choices. You spend about 5 minutes finishing the details and you're smooth sailing out. About five minutes away from the airport there is a 7-11 gas station that is currently charging $3.09 for regular gas. Returning your car back is just as simple. The gentlemen goes around assuring the car is in good shape and checks the gas tank and your trip is a success! Very well done Enterprise. Very disappointed in the service that I received at the PDX location. After calling in to verify that I could rent a car with a debit card (likely just customer service rep not actual store rep) they confirmed that I could with additional documents. I arrived to the PDX location, with Required documents needed and my debit card. After speaking with the agent and handing over my payment, she looked over the card details(that clearly states DEBIT), swiped my debit card holding $400 to then tell me she is unable to accept debit. After the hold had been placed she then nonchalantly stated, "it's just a hold it will fall off." Here we are a week later still holding $400 and unable to speak with a representative directly over the phone for bank verification. Now here I am having to wait another week for my funds to release when this all could have been avoided if she would have been a little less concerned with what I was doing with the rental and paying closer attention to her actual work task. read more
