I originally wanted an SUV to make the drive home a little more comfortable after dealing with San Francisco's rough roads. Vincent took the time to walk me through the vehicle, completed a thorough inspection with me, and clearly explained everything before I left. Even as a loyal Enterprise customer, I appreciate that level of transparency, it gives you confidence that there won't be any surprises later. On March 10, 2026, I reserved an SUV for a WEDDING - to be picked up on May 21, 2026 at noon (confirmation no. 2094751002). On May 20 at 5:01 pm, I received a voicemail message from Nick essentially stating that he had been trying to locate a 7-seat SUV for me for the "past couple of days" but that it had been challenging. I called back at 6:43 p.m., but the office closed at 6pm. I called the following day at 8:24 am and spoke to Vincent, the Branch Manager. He essentially told me the same thing - stating that they didn't have an SUV at that given moment and that they would call me when they secure one. When I asked why they would confirm an SUV reservation if they did not have the vehicle, his response was, "That's a good question." Since I needed the car in less 4 hours and they could not guarantee anything, I decided to cancel the reservation. Vince sent me an email at 8:43 am, stating, in part: "When we connected today, I understand you preferred not to proceed under those circumstances." Okay, where do I begin?!? First of all, it was not my preference to cancel the reservation I booked months ago. To continue to sit around and wait for you guys to continue working on TRYING to secure an SUV for my rental would be absurd and, quite frankly, just plain stupid. I needed the vehicle in less than 4 hours. So, while it was NOT my preference to cancel, I had no other logical choice!!! Second, if you guys had been trying to secure a vehicle for me for a "couple of days," I would have appreciated a phone call a lot sooner (NOT 7 hours prior to the scheduled pick up) - allowing me to explore other alternatives. Does that sound reasonable to you guys? Does that make sense? How about not confirming a reservation when you guys don't have the vehicle? Does that sound logical? I rented a car here and will never do it again for the following reasons: 1) Terrible customer service. The site manager, Brianna Jimenez, will not respond to emails or in writing. I visited this branch no less than four times in an effort to get rent a car in my neighborhood and support my local business. Because Ms. Jimenez was tied up initially, she handed me her business card and asked me to call or email to follow up. She never once responded to email or called me back before I returned the rental car. 2) Fraudulent practices. Because they did not have the SUV that I rented, Ethan Glober verbally offered me a minivan at the same rate. I made my initial reservation at the weekly rate because it looked to be the same as the what five days would have cost. Mr. Glober scrolled to the signature block on his iPad to get me on my way at the end of the day, as this Enterprise closes in the early evening. It was my mistake not to have reviewed the contract, which he said would be emailed to me. 3) Major issues with contract. I told both Brianna and Ethan that I intended to drive the car cross country and drop it off on the East Coast. I made 3 online reservations with the drop off in Delaware (prior to Ethan writing up a the new contract that I failed to review). Ethan wrote up the contract 1) for drop off in SF, 2) for the daily instead of the weekly rate, and 3) for a higher rate for the minivan (instead of at the SUV rate that he verbally promised me, because they did not have an SUV on site). I honestly thought he had been sloppy and emailed the site manager immediately regarding the error. She did not respond. I genuinely want to support local businesses, and it makes me sad to leave a negative review. It sucks that these guys don't have the integrity to honor their word. read more

Went to rent a car left feeling like we were common criminals. The guy asked for an emergency number. We said we did not have one but gave us grief about it and said that there are tons of unreturned cars and then proceeded to NOT rent me a car. Most unreturned cars are due to organized crime. Was this racism? We have been enterprise customers for more than a decade and Enterprise has had our personal information that long so it is more than ludicrous that we would not return the car - and why would you accuse a customer when they are about to rent a car?. I rented from Enterprise previously.When I rented a car on June 26 2024 using my debit card, they didn't ask for paystub or utility bill with my address on it. But today on my birthday they asked for one. I told the gentleman I have to take my auntie, who is in a wheelchair shopping! I explained it's my birthday and this is frustrating. I pulled up a credit card statement. I explained that I sublease and so the utility bill isn't in my name. He said do you have a paycheck stub with your address? Found it finally. The lady waiting to get her rental was polite and wished me happy birthday. The enterprise employee did say anything. Very disappointed. Plus the car had not been vacuumed. I had a very pleasant rental return process with Ryan, the store manager, who was very understanding when I returned my vehicle after my work trip. Despite the hours posted online saying the store closed at 6 (I arrived around 5:45 pm), they currently close at 5 pm due to Covid. For anyone reading this, the Geary location does accept drop offs after 5 pm during the week; however Ryan accommodated me because he was still inside the office. Ryan could have easily turned me away and told me to come back the next morning. As a result, this would have caused me to be charged an extra day. We have been renting from this location for some time now. We spend about $6K to $8K a year on rental cars with them. We had for some time a couple of great mangers at this location. We have found that the Nissan cars are just not good as far as the seat go and our particular bodies. The head rests project too far forward and hurts my wifes neck and the lumbar does not work after my extensive back surgery. The Toyota 4 door sedans and the Kia 4 door sedans are a better fit. My wife, and ICU RN here in San Francisco has the first real vacation coming up after 2-1/2 years of hell. She order a car a month in advance. She told them, no Nissan's. She called two weeks ago and repeated, no Nissan. She called 24 hours in advance and told them the same thing. Now this is for a MONTH rental. When she got there today what did she get a Nissan. They had a couple of Toyota's but it would have been an upgrade and the manager would not do it. They offer her a 2 door Volkswagen. Clueless. My wife took the car for now and called the national customer service. The manager then called my wife and basically told her tough. My wife asked if she would call the other managers in San Francisco or even at the airport and see if they had something she could swap. Her response was that my wife could do that herself. Now over the last 2 years the other managers managed to meet out needs without any drama. We got some trucks and some sedans without any issues and all of them were not Nissan's. For a month rental one would think they would make an effort. Enterprise was named after the Aircraft Carrier that the man who started the company served on. There was a reason. He demanded his people act like the job mattered. Now it appears that Enterprise is just another company with 21 century lack luster service. We will call the manager at the airport in the AM and see if they can swap for something we can live with for a months vacation. If my wife provided the same level of crappy service in her job, a lot more people would have died in the last 24 months. Now she just wants to relax for the first time in two plus years and these people cannot get her the car she wants. Pathetic. read more

I have always rented cars from Enterprise; however this last experience was the worst I have ever dealt with in particular to one staff member named Helen (whom I think is the manager). First, Helen gave us a quote for our week long rental that upon entering the office no one knew about. The quote given upon arrival was way more than she had quoted us. Once we returned the car which was unfortunately four hours later than our return time, she showed me the total charges but I had mentioned about the charges for being late. Her response, "oh don't worry we will take care of it, your rental will just be the 7 days you reserved it for". My initial thought was wow, what great customer service. Come to find out she completely lied to my face as well as to my partner about the charges. After telling me that the late return was waived aka "taken care of", when my partner came in to ask about the charges, she proceeded to bargain with him about charging us the fee that she literally told me was waived. She also told my partner that she told me that the late charges were added when she never did. She completely lied and tried to cover her tracks. That is poor business practice and I hope that she works on providing proper customer service without lying to her customers face. They tried to cover up charges that was said to be waived. Overall, the rental was great just remember to double check the charges. We will probably rent from Enterprise again just not through her or that location. read more

My experience was a pleasant one at this location. This is an off airport location so I wasn't expecting an express lane or a lot with a selection of cars for one to pick up and just drive off. I rented a couple of times from this spot as they were close to where I was staying and they had very reasonable rates even during the huge conference that made hotels/rental cars/restaurant reservations a coveted item for a few weeks. They are not open on Sundays and have somewhat limited hours so check in first before committing as there is no after hour drop off. One way rental to the airport though an option is not viable due to the exorbitant charge. The service was great on both occasions though it did take quite a bit of time to get the car. The cars were new and clean so I can't say I expect much from a car rental spot that's off airport. read more

The customer service representative who greeted me was friendly and courteous, and the rental process took less than 10 minutes. Within 24 hours, I received a text from the location manager, Brianna, checking in on my rental experience. When I returned the rental, Brianna asked about my experience, to which I replied positively. Additionally, I was given a courteous ride to my residence 20 blocks away. Upon realizing I had forgotten a Christmas present in the vehicle, I called the location and Brianna promptly informed me about the forgotten item. I returned to the location, where Brianna returned the present to me. I thanked her and expressed my appreciation for the exceptional customer service I received. When it came time to check up on the reservation, it ended up not going through. I was left with just booking lady min which of course was expensive, but ended up being even more expensive when I arrived at the location. 70 minutes late to the pickup time. No apology. I reserved a car using Enterprise PriorityPass online form. I received an email confirmation saying "We are sending you this email to confirm the changes you made to your reservation." Once I arrived at the rental location, I told the agent the pickup was late. He started to say "Don't use the online system." Enterprise seems to have disconnect between the local operation and system wide operation, if the agent is saying not to use the online system. The agent claimed to call me to confirm yesterday, but he called my home number when I was not home. He had my cell number, so he could have call me on my cell. (The drive eventually called me to my cell.) The driver initially went to a wrong location, even though the correct pickup location was written on the sheet of paper he was carrying. Then, he eventually came to the correct pickup location. The rental agent claimed that he did not have the pickup location information. If a service provider make a mistake, I expect an apology, and I did not get any apology. As I was pointing out that all information was on the sheet of paper driver was carrying, the agent goes "Do you still want the car?", quite suggestive of canceling my reservation. Is this the way Enterprise to treat a customer? Because of the big delay, my son was very late to his school. If you have a time sensitive car rental, I would avoid using this enterprise location. Called in for a car, referred by my insurance, and they told me that they would NOT be able to get the car to me that afternoon and it would be delivered the following morning at 11am. I thought it was no big deal, I could use uber for that evening and I'll be okay tomorrow. The following morning came, and the car never showed up at the given address. Nor did I receive a call saying something like "I couldn't find your obvious location in the middle of town where there is a huge parking lot provided for the address". I waited from 10am to 1pm, then tried to call and their offices apparently close at noon on Saturdays. Now here I am, stuck without a car for the whole weekend. Be forewarned, if you planned on renting with a debit card, they have some archaic rules that require you to show them two, two pieces of verification to prove that you live in the address connected to the card, like a current phone bill or an electricity bill. And they have to be paper bills. Showing them a cell phone screen shot of the paperless bill was not acceptable. Who still receive their paper bills any more? Told the guy the mobile website would not allow me to print out or email the paperless bill from my phone, no sympathy from him. Even offered to let him use his phone to take a picture of my phone screen and then print it out later himself, but was flat out refused. And here is the clincher: Finally, it became apparent to me there was no way this guy was going to rent a car to me during that visit. I was counting on a relatively hassle-free rental transaction that afternoon, then driving across the Bay to Oakland for an appointment with a client. By then, this 20-minute hold-up was making me almost late to my appointment. So I told him, OK, looks like you're not going to rent a car to me this time, fine, let's move one, but can you possibly have one of your drivers drop me off really quick at the Civic Center BART station so I can make it to this important appointment in Oakland on time? "Enterprise, we pick you up." MY ASS. I guess they were assuming that this pissed-off customer was probably not going to come back again with any more business for them so they just didn't care. And, I can tell you right now, they got that right. In the end, I had to call my client to apologize and to reschedule our meeting. read more

As a first time car renter I wanted to call ahead and get all the facts I needed before reserving a decent priced car online....Things were more complicated than they needed to be. I asked what I needed to rent a car and was told, "Bring in something like a phone bill or a lease to your apartment or something along those lines. We need two forms of proof that you live in San Francisco to make the deposit only $200." Easy enough. Can the deposit go on a credit card? "Yes as long as you bring the proof of address." Ok. I get to the car rental place with 3 forms of proof just in case. A bank statement, a DMV license form and a W-2. "Sorry we only accept a phone bill without a balance due and a recent pay stub." What the hell? She just kept repeating herself over and over and over again. I was furious that I had called ahead and got wrong information which lead to me being late getting on the road for my long drive ahead of me. LUCKILY I only live a block away and could print those things out but if I had lived farther away what a huge hassle that would have been. She even told me..."well you can go to the Hertz up the street?" Hell no! I reserved this car and rate what makes you think I'm going to pay more and chance what kind of car I can get? So ridiculous. Upon returning with the correct print outs, the phone bill print out wasn't exactly what they needed so she offered me to use the back office. Oh thank you for suggesting that last time and making me walk all the way home to grab this information. Finally after all of the hassle we received our economy car. It was alright. It drove pretty smoothly and didn't have any issues. Total we drove the car about 12 hours and gas mileage was decent for four people and a packed trunk. They don't clean the car out very well though, we found spider webs in the back window. The people in this little modular are clueless and rude. No compassion is shown for the wrong information given over the phone. If you've rented cars a million times then you won't have a problem and know what to expect. If you rarely rent a car make sure you ask exact questions over the phone and urge them to overly explain the EXACT things you need when renting. Or else you won't get the correct answers. read more

I live equidistant from a zipcar lot and this Enterprise location. I joined zipcar a few months ago, but have not used the service yet. Enterprise, on Geary Street, I've used twice in the past 6 months. I've rented a car for play and for work. The service has been AMAZING! I highly recommend reserving the automobile online. Once you're at the location, an agent pulls your name up, you do a walk around, and you are audi 5000 in less than 5 minutes. Since this is just a plain car lot, there's no need to walk through a labyrinth of twists and turns in a garage (like car rental places downtown), or go to a separate area to wait for your car to be "delivered." I found renting a car for a 24 hour period is slightly cheaper than zipcar. It seems just as convenient, but you have a courteous team full of smiles to greet and bid you farewell. read more

I arrived on the day my car was scheduled to be returned, but due to the corona virus, the place was boarded up. I was forced to keep the car for an additional four days. I tried reaching the company's number but had no luck. Though this morning, I called and returned the car to the Geary location, and Ryan was so kind, understanding, and helpful. He listened to my concerns and assisted them to the best of his ability. Though the first part of this story was not ideal, Ryan's professionalism and kindness made me feel compelled to tell everyone on Yelp how pleasant my experience was in the end. They were nice enough to pick me up at my bodyshop and we go back to their tiny facility with a pot holed and weed filled lot. The rental process was pretty quick with the standard overly friendly greeting and mandatory handshakes. My rental was decent except for the two bulky keys they provide on a single key ring. One of the remotes didn't work so it was a bit of a challenge unlocking the car every time I wanted to go somewhere. Returning the car was fast except they didn't provide transportation back to the body shop - instead I had to walk the 1.5 miles there even though the insurance company was supposed to pay for it . read more

I recently rented a car here, though I usually go to the one by Stonestown. I don't know if Enterprise is putting endorphins in the company coffee pot or if they are just paid really well, but these people are super friendly. I've lived in the city for about 5 years now and their level of customer service is unparalleled. (Side note: the Stonestown Enterprise employees are equally as awesome). Downside, if it is a last minute rental, they don't have a huge lot, so not a huge selection. If you have the ability to plan ahead, then do. read more

According to Brian that means they cannot honor the lower online rates or throw in things like free upgrade offered on their website. Also, rental is by the calendar date--not by the 24 hrs period--too bad we picked up the car at the end of the day...it is still a full day. OK, so I learned quite a few new things-- cool. But I wished he didn't act like he could care less for our questions, for our business. Upgraded for free due to limited car availability so very happy. Car was very clean and in great condition.
