We walked into this Enterprise location without a reservation and only a sliver of hope that we'd snag a car on the spot. To our pleasant surprise, the agent behind the counter said they had one ready. She was super friendly and helpful. Paperwork and payment were wrapped up in about 5-7 minutes, and we headed up to the 3rd level garage where another rep showed us to our car. That's where the one hiccup happened that cost this review a star. The rep handed us an exit ticket, but when we pulled up to the gate, the machine tried to charge us $190 to leave. My girlfriend darted back to the office while I sprinted upstairs with the ticket, all while a growing line of cars stacked up behind us giving me the death stare of "what the eff are you doing walking away from your car?". Running upstairs, I made the decision to use the stairs because waiting for the elevator was like watching grass grow. The agent upstairs quickly ran the ticket through the validation machine, clearing the charge. Silently in my head I said "dude ever thought of clearing the charge before giving a customer the ticket?". But I was just grateful that he cleared it and ran back downstairs all the while thinking, well at least I'm getting my cardio in for the day. Aside from that stressful detour which I chalked up to another travel adventure story that I can embellish in my older years, the car itself drove beautifully, and the return process at a nearby location just a couple blocks away was a breeze . Directions for return were clearly printed in the paperwork. I've rented from Enterprise many times before and generally had excellent experiences. This one had a minor glitch, but overall, i would definitely rent from them again. Happy travels! read more

This place worked out but at first we got ourselves pretty confused. This is the same location for several rental car companies but Enterprise has less signage than the others. You have to check in at street level on OFarrell and then walk around the corner and go down a long hallway to go up stairs to the third floor to pick up the vehicle. We made the mistake of going to the third floor first and were sent back down. Luckily we didn't have our luggage with us at the time! read more

She got a bit aggressive when I said I was absolutely sure it's in the car. A few days later it's making outgoing calls constantly and a woman is answering the phone. I am not a negative Nancy. I rarely give one star reviews. I feel obligated to share my experience for safety reasons. I rented a Hyundai Santa Fe from this company later last week for a trip from San Francisco to Palm Springs. First off, $2,300 for eight days is off the charts. Second, the agent was nice enough, but he provided ZERO instructions on how the car operated. It took me five minutes just to figure out how to release the parking brake. All of the above is nothing new, I'm sure. Here's the thing: The "smart" cruise control was an absolute nightmare. It kept failing to engage because of "radar blocked" or something. When the cruise control did engage, it sensed a head on collision every minute or so and slammed on the brakes. There were NEVER any cars around, which was a blessing because I would have been rear ended. Being me, I assumed it was user error. I tried everything to get it to work. Later I found a group online about this problem... This well known problem. You cannot disengage the "smartness". FYI: SF to PS and back again is 14 hours. Cruise control is not a luxury on long trips. It's necessary. I have bought really good cars from Enterprise. I consider them a good company. I hope this experience is a one off. For now, I am warning you to avoid the Santa Fe and demand a tutorial before accepting any car from them. read more

According to the call center this location and every single enterprise location in the city of San Francisco and it's suburbs do not accept after hours returns. Unfortunately not everyone's travel plans allow for a 9 to 5 business. You would think that locations near airports and train stations would I have 24 hour service, but at the very least an after hours drop off. I have never had any issues with enterprise locally not allowing after hours returns. Luckily, we only needed a vehicle to get around the city, and everything is within walking distance so enterprise did us a small favor in that aspect by not wasting our money. read more

*update* Despite spending months talking on the phone with various departments, dealing with this office's management directly, and now emailing their "care" department the issue has still not been resolved. Highly unethical business which will aid Identity Thieves in screwing you over with fraudulent transactions: they do not check ID or verify that the person picking up the car is who they claim to be. Even if you file police reports, have your bank dispute the charges, and speak directly with management they will continue to send threatening letters attempting to collect money from the victim of Identity Theft. Due to their current policies anybody can walk in with a stolen ID and card and leave with a car, and rather than go after the thief, Enterprise will choose to seek financial restitution from the victim themselves. This is a fine Enterprise location, it gets busy at times and there can be a wait but that's typical for most neighborhood car rental options so get there a bit earlier than you think you'll need. This is also the one location in San Francisco that allows after-hours returns once the rental office is closed so that's a very helpful thing given that most offices close mid-day Saturday for instance. On a recent visit, there was no wait to check in but then we sat for about 20 minutes waiting for our car while others who came in later were taken to their car immediately. In terms of car selection, I went back & forth on Tesla vs. regular rental car and ended up deciding on Tesla since it seemed to be a unique opportunity. I was planning to pay for insurance through Enterprise but upon renting I was told that they no longer offer insurance on Teslas since so many people have totaled them. Yikes! At that point pretty much everything else was sold out so I didn't have much choice other than to proceed with a Tesla and not knowing for sure if my Amex or personal insurance would cover it given the status of a "luxury" car with a potentially higher price than either Amex or Geico agrees to cover. Then after getting the car, I started to understand why drivers have had so many accidents - Tesla is way different than driving a standard car and Enterprise doesn't give you any help to understand these differences. If there was a one page summary or something they could give Tesla renters it would be a huge help, yet Enterprise has chosen not to do anything to help its renters. Did you know that when you take your foot off the gas pedal a Tesla engages hard engine braking? I didn't, this is normally a sign of something wrong in a car or the parking brake being engaged. Did you know that in order to use a non-Tesla charging station you need an adaptor? Which it turns out may reside somewhere under the floor of the trunk? How would one be expected to know this? And rather than starting with a fully charged car we received it half charged with a ~100 mile capability which meant that we needed to charge on our day trip or get stuck on the side of the road. And then it turns out the closest Tesla quick charging station was 11 miles away from us so we had to use up part of our day and part of our 100 mile driving limit ($0.99 per mile if you go over 100) to go recharge the vehicle. And it turns out recharging also doesn't engage just by plugging it in, you need to first figure out how to open the port from inside the car then start the charge flowing outside the car on the charger itself. It would have been great to have some guidance on all of this given that Tesla is such a non-standard car. Overall this Enterprise location is convenient, and it's consistent with most other Enterprise, National, and Hertz, and other neighborhood rental offices I've been to around the country. Nothing on my recent visit jumped out as great or anything other than basic service, and the lack of insurance along with lack of guidance on my rented Tesla greatly affected my rental experience. Would I rent here again? Probably. Where else are you going to go... read more

No customer service whatsoever at this location! The lady behind the desk is very rude and disrespectful. I'm the only insured, my husband do not drive anymore due to heart failure. A week and a half ago, we rented a car at this location. Our car is in the body shop. Our body shop guy took us there. I gave my DL and my husband debit card and they took it. We had the rental for 4 days and we returned it back although our car is still at the shop. We didn't anticipate it's taking this long and we still don't a car. We went back here after our body shop arranged for another rental. The lady was so rude, acted like she didn't want to be there. No "hi" 'good morning" just the basic greeting the customer. She said she needed a card with my name on it, company policy, my husband's card can't be used. That would be fine if the way she explained it is not argumentative . We said that it was OK last week and now it isn't. All she had to do is show a little humility and apologize for their mistake in accepting it last week but not this time. Instead she made it sound like it never happened and we're making it up. That's when it got heated and voices were raised. At this time she refused to help us and got into an agreement match that continue on until we entered the elevator. We went to a different location and the attitude of the people who work at the Mission Street location is night and day. I knew I wasn't imagining it - the people at the Mission Street location are courteous and welcoming. Never again at the O'Farrell location! read more

I had a good experience with this Enterprise location. The employee was knowledgeable and friendly. Although they were not able to give us a ride to the office, Enterprise reimbursed the taxi fare by reducing the cost of the rental. We got a mid size care and the best thing was the ability to have Apple Car Play, which was great for navigating. Getting and returning the car was a breeze. If I would have returned the car at SFO there would have been a $150 fee. We opted to return the car to the original location and Lyft to the airport. read more

However, this experience was so pleasant, I really want Enterprise, & other 'renters', to know what a good experience this was. There was 1 other customer ahead of us. They wpitaere asking if the convertible they were thinking about renting was an SUV. I watched the Enterprise staff carefully, not a snicker. Then when it was my turn, Jamo professionally yet very friendly, extended his hand in introduction. He then extended an introduction to Lupita. Mike was concise, courteous, helpful, and answered all of answers thoroughly regarding how much our insarunce would cover and how much left-over that we'd have to cover which was extremely affordable. I can't recommend him enough. We found out our rental had some troubles , so Shannon help us switch out the cars since our first one unfortunately had issues with the infotainment. She was understanding of our situation and helped us pick a replacement promptly. My first choice was unavailable; however Shannon amd her team jumped at the opportunity to upgrade my car to a fantastic 2020 Mazda CX9 SUV. We have rented from this location one time (we usually rent from the Richmond location, which I gave 5 stars in another review) I booked here because there was a promotion for $19.99 a day for a weekend rental and this was the nearest location that had cars with this promo. My husband waited over 45 minutes before he got the car. Everything went great during our reservation. But when he went to return it, he had to wait over 45 minutes again, making him late for work. And then he was told there was damage to the back panel and that he would be liable. They kept the $200 deposit on his credit card and bill him for the rest as we had declined all insurance. This whole ordeal of paperwork took over an hour longer, making him over 2 hrs late to work on top of everything. But then the real shockers started. The car was returned Sunday morning, and we filed an insurance claim with Mastercard on Monday. We then got a letter from Enterprise saying the damages were over $300 in body work, $500 in labor and another $300 in 2 days lost rental. This is mind boggling to me. It was a tiny dent. We didn't even notice it and have no idea how it happened, I assume someone in a parking lot opened their door into it. There were 6 or 7 dents marked on the sheet when we picked the car up. So how on earth could our little dent alone cause 2 days lost rental at a price higher than I have EVER seen any car for for, $150 a day??? That's over 7xs what we were paying! And were they charging 6 or 7 other people $1100 for those dings? That's $6600+ for a few dings?? What kind of mechanic do they use, one with gold tools? But we don't have to worry right? We filed an insurance claim. Well, the bills came DAILY from Enterprise and on day 10 they threatened to send us to collections! My husband calls and asks if they got the insurance claim info and they said yes but until they pay, he is responsible and they will continue to collect to the full extent of the law. A few days later we got a letter stating insurance paid something like $300 total ,the rest is being written off. And about a week later, Mastercard sent us a $200 check for our deposit. So it all worked out. But it was incredible how ruthless they were about a tiny dent, they wanted over $1100 from us despite us immediately filing an insurance claim. That is insanity. We have never returned to this location and recommend the one on Geary & 7th Ave any day over this one. read more

I didn't have high hopes when we first arrived to the location of this Enterprise, as it's on a pretty creepy street in a pretty seedy area. The lobby is dim and dirty, and there wasn't much seating to speak of, either. However, the service is fantastic, our car was in mint condition and we were actually upgraded from our original model at no additional cost. We had zero issues with the car while we had it for a long weekend, and what with a thorough inspection prior to leaving, we knew these guys were professional and we were being taken care of. They were clear with the paperwork and the rules of the game, so we knew what to expect up front and exactly what was expected of us. Drop-off was easy-peasy, too. A quick inspection and gas tank check and we were on our way... They even called to let us know my husband had left his jacket in car so we could come pick it up before closing time. I'd definitely rent from these guys again, despite the crap location and lobby. They are by far the most professional and competent Enterprise I've ever rented from! read more

I was in SF for a conference and last minute needed a car for the day to travel to Stanford. I looked on yelp for the nearest car rental places and fortunately found enterprise with the highest number of stars on yelp. I called them and was quoted $52 dollars for the day (they do close at 6 pm so the car needed to be returned by 6 or I would have to pay for parking in the city though there would be no extra rental charge as long as I returned it within 24 hrs total). I arrived and within 20 minutes the car was ready. Bernie at the front desk and Eric who handled the contract signing were both very friendly and professional. The parking facility itself was quite spacious to get in and out and the car was brought to me in excellent condition newly washed and cleaned which in my haste was not entirely necessary but very impressive. In short, excellent professional friendly efficient service, excellent car, and all on short notice, I strongly recommend this rental car location. This is the closest Enterprise to Union Square, so if you make a reservation at 8 a.m., know that you will be in line with the other tourists. Get there about 10-15 minutes early and be the first. This location closes at 2 p.m. If you keep your car past 2 p.m., but don't want to keep it overnight, you can't simply drop it off. Well, you can, at the Parc 55 hotel, but Enterprise will charge you $20 for the privilege. The service here is quick and friendly enough, and this location has everything from compact cars to exotics. read more
