    we have used the san mateo enterprise for 20 years. sometimes the online systems are hard to navigate. i just drive down their and make the reservations overt the counter with a human.

    Not enough employees! They can't really "Pick you up". Had to pay for an Uber, bad selection of cars.

    Service at this location: five stars…read more Budget rent a car in general: four stars (maybe less). First, the good. I rent quite often from here - I don't have a car and this place is right across from where I work, so pick up and drop off is easy. I also prefer Budget because they have a debit card policy. But the service, for me, has been phenomenal. Maybe it's because I'm a regular. Maybe it's because I'm reasonable and usually nice. Maybe I've always met them on a good day. Or maybe because they're actually attentive. I'd go for the latter. Let's just have some examples of my experience: 1. I rented a car on a weekday so I could do all of my Christmas shopping. I only drove about 25 miles, since I was staying local. I did replace the 1.5 gallons of gas I used, as per usual. When I returned the vehicle, the clerk added a fuel surcharge since I drove less than 75 miles (apparently that's a thing) but the manager quickly corrected the mistake. He just saw me hesitate when I saw the receipt, looked over at the screen and said, "we'll take that charge off." I didn't even say anything. Folks, he saw the mistake and corrected without me saying a word. 2. They are generally respectful of my time and try to get me in and out of there in 10 min. 3. They don't try to upsell me. I really like the guys here. They're good communicators and I've never had a bad transaction (I've rented there about 10 times in the past year). I don't know what all of these 1 star reviews are about. The so-so. 1. I really wish Budget had better cars. I've had to rent Mitsubishis and Hyundais, which I detest. They're typically loud and uncomfortable and hard on my back. If I could rent a Ford Focus or Taurus or an Explorer (for large loads) or Nissans I would. This is not the fault of this franchise. 2. I find Budget to be extremely expensive on upgraded vehicles. 3. Extended hours on Saturdays would be helpful. There you have it. I've rented from this Budget many times this past year and I highly recommend it.

    The whole company is a joke. I rented a vehicle and returned it. They did not close out the…read morecontract for 20 days after and then they charged my card for extra 20 days after a month. 2 weeks after I returned the car they reported the car stolen and I got a phone call saying that the police was looking for me. I told them that the car was returned and fully paid for and still they continued to harass me and threaten me. I called them and they offered no explanation and when I asked for my money back for the extra charges they went and charged my credit card for over $3000.00 again. I was shocked. At first they denied everything and after I sent them the proof, they said they will return my money which I am still waiting for. I have no idea how they are in business. They charge people whatever they want and they hope they don't realize that. I found out that there is a class action lawsuit against them from most states from people who ended up in jail or held at gun point by the police because they falsely report the vehicles stolen.....amazing!     My Hertz Rental 1/16/2015 SFO…read more I worked with an agent for over 30 minutes as she made faces and comments expressing her annoyance with having to process a rental exchange. A supervisor was stationed 5 feet and she witnessed and heard the entire interaction. I am applauded that a supervisor would not step in and ensure that a customer would receive appropriate assistance. As the interaction dragged on and was not completed in a timely matter I grew frustrated and I said to that it was obvious that the agent was not interested in helping me and I asked if someone else could assist me. She then proceeded to say that she didn't understand why I even wanted to exchange the car, I told her that she is "horrible at your job" to which she responded to with a "you are horrible!" - she was actually yelling at me! I asked her to please complete the transaction so I could be on my way, she again blamed me saying I should have just kept the car I had. I told her I'd happily take the original car back, she instructed me to go back to the garage and see if the car was available. She didn't offer to radio for a car, she wanted me to do search myself! She offer a smaller car than what I rented which I rejected and then she said I would have to pay extra because they were out of full size cars (what I had paid for) or take a smaller car. I was traveling with 3 other people including my paraplegic sister who requires a wheelchair. I could not accept a smaller car, it would not have accommodated our needs; that is why I purposefully booked a full size car. I had a 9 hour drive ahead of me from San Francisco to Las Vegas so I didn't want to spend any more time arguing with a rude agent so I ultimately took what they gave me and left. The car they gave me had issues and I had to exchange that car when I arrived in Las Vegas due to Stabilitrack issues which continually disabled the cruise control in the vehicle while in motion.
