    Enterprise is A-OK. First, let me just say that ANY rental car company at SBA is better than EVERY rental car company at LAX. It's just so much faster and more convenient going to a rental car company inside the airport and getting into a car right outside the terminal and driving away. That being said, I normally use the other rental car companies here. This was my first time using Enterprise. The service was friendly and professional. The car was a good quality, clean car. Three minor complaints: 1. At the other counters here at SBA, I show them my ID, they hand me a set of keys, and I walk out the door. If I see any problem with the car, I can go back in and report it to the people at the counter, but that's never happened. With Enterprise, I walked up to the counter and there was one employee already helping a customer. The employee was very professional and courteous and said he would be with me in just a moment, and then he walked out the door to the parking lot with the keys and paperwork to show the lady to her car. It's not a big parking lot, so I didn't have to wait long. He came back a few minutes later and got my rental paperwork together, and then he walked me out to the parking lot, too. It just made the check-out process a little longer than the other companies here. 2. The other rental companies here will give you ONE key and keyfob that will fit in your pocket unobtrusively. Enterprise, on the other hand, is one of those rental car companies that gives you this BIG honkin' unbreakable cable key ring with BOTH keys and BOTH key fobs on it, which makes it sort of unweildy and uncomfortable to put in your pocket. 3. It was impossible to get a human being on the phone at this location. My flight was delayed and I wasn't landing until 9:42 p.m., and Enterprise closes at 10 p.m. I tried calling Enterprise to let them know my flight was delayed and I would be arriving very close to closing time and ask if they would please wait for me. I tried EVERY option on their computerized phone menu trying to get a live human being to talk to, but was unsuccessful. The options on the menu that should have led me to a live human being just led me to silence on the line and no response - not even a ringing phone. So, all-in-all, none of this was really bad. Enterprise was A-OK. I wouldn't mind using Enterprise again, especially if they cost less than the other rental car companies.

    Where do I begin. Such a nightmare dealing with Kayla Himmelberg branch "Manager". So, I've rented from enterprise before - I want to guess 10-15 times? Have spent a lot of money towards this company. I usually visit the chapala branch, which has exceptional customer service. But sometimes I need to get a rental after Chapala's business hours which lead me to the SB airport. **side note: I've had issues with my card before and have always paid for each rental and have had no issues with car damage or customer service/ besides phone lines at the SB airport not working w incoming calls. When I first walked into enterprise for a reservation I encountered Connor, E employee, who looked a bit flustered and busy- he told me he'd be right back- I waited for like 5 mins standing there- finally I have a seat. He then passes by me again and leaves me for another 5 minutes with no form of communication or customer service - not even a "I'm sorry mam, will be 15 mins". I was just left there like a moron. Then I was told my car wasn't available after all that waiting - he didn't even offer a discount to upgrade me (which they have always done). So I lost my cool and yelled at him that I've never been treated so poorly and like an unimportant loyal customer. As Conor took me outside for a vehicle to look at - I asked him as a fellow human being - "so what's going on? You're so aloof? Is something bothering you?". He mentioned he never drinks soda and was possibly crashing from what I understand. I left on a good note and told him to stay away from soda and to take better care of himself- Well this Conor story is a build up to my suspicion that Kayla was told about this incident- because when she called asking for a credit card saying "your credit card isn't working" - 4 days after return date- in fact they deducted 267$ from it (which is also like 3 days of rental) that I needed to pay immediately - I asked her to call me back in 10 so I could give her a card number- she called back and I gave her my colleagues:good friends card and she said "no sorry, I can't take it." I said well I have my debit credit card- she said No. I told her I have to make a payment for my card to work and it won't go through for a couple days. I told Kayla I'd go into the local rental location in Laguna beach to make payment - she did not want to hang up without a credit card number which I told her wasn't possible- she then threatened to report car stolen. I freaked out at this point and told her not to call me again and I want to deal with someone else. I've never had that threat before- after 4 days! (Prior rental) I've had this card issue before and freaked out because the airport number didn't work and was fearful of being accused of trying to dodge payment- I received voicemails but unable to return the calls prior - I was sent to a very loud fax like tone- I have record of it from my past calls. When I called the enterprise help line - the lady said the policy isn't to report vehicle stolen until 2-4 weeks. Back to this rental situation: So, why after 4 days of my card declining did Kayla show up to my sisters/my place looking for me? That's harassment - Who does that? I'm attaching card she left for me. (I was in laguna) It gets worst- so when I head over to enterprise laguna beach I'm informed I cannot make any form of payment with them unless I do it in an airport. It was such a nightmare- I even called enterprises phone line to let them know I'm making an effort to pay. So my friend said let's go the following day since we had a super busy day. 1 hour to airport vs 15 mins to local enterprise away to a local enterprise - But even when I was at the laguna enterprise- I asked Kyle to please email Kayla to let her know I made an effort to pay so she doesn't harass me or my family anymore - she called my mom and my sister looking for me. **side note** I don't use my phone while I'm visiting my friend- I'm old school like that - I was so paranoid that I even took a picture of Kyle's email to Kayla since I knew she was irrationally unpredictable - who knows what she is going to do next? Okay now the next day I go to the airport with my friend where I'm told I am not allowed to rent a vehicle. My friend wanted to rent in my place since we were stranded there and they refused to rent to him as well-I'm so frustrated and say "I can't believe this- fuck this sucks" - that's when John Wayne's airport branch manager Taylor Brown steps in to tell me "don't use that language here in front of these customers"- I apologized and told her I'm just very upset from this nightmare - I asked why couldn't my friend rent vehicle - with his titanium Black Card! I started recording Taylor and cops were called on me- it's legal to record in a public space - and illegal to make a false call. Stay away from these people- the cop calmly told me that maybe these girls are jealous- cops words not mine. (max amount of text)

This morning we could not start the car, and roadside assistance said it would be a long time before someone could help us in Oxnard (Sunday and Boxing Day), but if someone could jump it (cousin did this- short walk away) we could switch it out at the nearest airport (1 hour away at Santa Barbara airport). Adrian, the gentleman at the National/Alamo desk, was pleasant and understanding. Pulled up our paperwork about rotted tire on Las Vegas rental, and roadside assistance report on dead battery. He also gave us a tool to measure the tiny crack from rock hitting the windshield of the Camry near Vegas. We need it for insurance, if we are going to get charged. Not sure. When Husband took pictures, crack was MUCH smaller than one that required insurance. The pleasant gentleman said it would be 20 minutes to clean a 4 door premium car for us. That is what we got in Vegas and St. George. Unfortunately, the bad & bald tire on the Accord required another rental in St. George, and the dead battery in their Camry got us here. At least everyone has been nice and efficient (including Eagan with roadside assistance who directed us here). Adrian checked us out in a white GMC Terrain - clean and nice. He also recommended Boat House for lunch. He made this a pleasant experience. I hope your experience will be pleasant here, too!

The lady at the front desk (Avis) explained 20 minutes maybe, the guy with the white shirt at Hertz (they share a booth) laughed and sneered, and muttered more like an hour, maybe not at all. He they went on a short rant that they don't honor same day reservations, particularly for a type of car like a truck. There's no one else in line, I'm the only client. I asked if they could call me, they said I should just wait. Really just here for my rental, on time, and if it's 20m it's fine, if it's 40' s still fine, but if it's maybe never then I will just ask for a refund and leave -- they won't make it clear. The interaction with the Hertz employee was weird, unexpected, and he was aggressive. He actually told me if I wanted a car I should just rent it from a competitor. Definitely bad vibes and bad energy, I'm not trying to be difficult, and I am not particularly in a hurry, but just need to know whether they'll have a car or not have a car ‍ Seems like the guy (maybe a manager) in the white shirt is the aggressive, maybe on drugs... maybe just a bad moment or a bad day and he misheard what I was asking. The lady was trying to help but he was making it less clear. I don't know what they're doing. I guess this is a good place to show up for a rental and them not to have it and then get glared at for asking for one. They say this happens all the time, particularly on Thursdays. They don't honor same day reservations, which I guess is fine as long as they make that clear when you book. --- Update: I ended up with the car, after a short wait. Again I had no issue with waiting, but the treatment of the staff from Hertz (the guy in the white shirt) was anything but patient, or kind. --- Update 2: Car hadn't been washed, still had some things from the previous renter in it. Must've been a crazy day for the team or something ‍

When we reached our destination, we saw that there was a bump in the well of the tire, which could result in the tire exploding on the road. We called budget and they sent out a tow truck and put the spare on the car, and then we had to drive it to the SLO budget at the airport to exchange it. We got a new car and drove back to the hotel. The next day we saw that none of the tires on the cars had air caps. We also did not drive off-road or hit any speed bumps, but a piece of plastic was dragging on the bottom of the car. We also exchange that car at SLO. Days after this terrible experience I see they've charged me an extra $150 for insurance I did not approve, and a fuel fee because we did not return the malfunctioning cars with a full gas tank. We were more concerned with getting off of the road in these dangerous cars and returning them to the office. I called customer service and they most they would offer me is a 15% discount on the fuel fee and a 50% on the insurance I did not improve. I really think I should get 100% back because the reason we returned the car early without a full fuel tank is because it was dangerous to drive and we wanted to spend as little time on the road with it as possible. Additionally, I did not approve the insurance so I don't know why I need to pay any of it. I cannot recommend anyone use budget.

    About the worst car rental experience I have ever had…read more I rented a CAR at Santa Barbara Airport, CA on Oct 14; The flight was on time and NO one was at the rental counter; a minor irritant since I waited for 10 minutes to get service. Had a flat tire on 10/18; Budget helped with TOWING; Promised a replacement at Santa Barbara airport rental location. On 10/20 Been trying to confirm that they have a 'replacement (I have said any car is fine)' ready at Santa Barbara airport, Budget rental location, before I go there in person. Made about six phone calls to Budget Customer care; Spent over 90 minutes waiting on the line and then talking- issues not resolved. They have technical difficulties and the phone lines are sending a message to call back later. I have to go in person to the location, and hope they have a replacement. Avoid this car rental. Such a lousy service. They do not care about customer. Nor do they deserve your business.

I was just about to pull onto the freeway onramp and if this happened then, I could've died or gotten severely hurt and caused a major pile up. There was no accident or incident. A complete mechanical failure. They send a claim a few weeks later asking for payment of $2900. When I disputed it, they said it's not a mechanical failure when there is damage to the fender. I have video and photo of the fender without a scratch. WTF?! PSA: Do not rent with Dollar, Thrifty, or Hertz. They do not maintain their cars and they will try to stick you with the bill.

When I tried to resolve it, their customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. It's clear this company operates with shady practices, prioritizing squeezing extra money out of customers over transparency or integrity. I've rented cars all over the world and have never had an experience this bad. If you value honesty and fair dealing, look elsewhere. Dollar Car Rental cannot be trusted.

    We needed to go from New England to Ojai, CA and flew into Santa Barbara for the shorter drive. We…read morebooked a car online to pickup at the airport. The flight got in around 10-11pm PDT. My wife double checked that we could get a late pickup and was assured that, of course, she could get a late pickup. On arrival, we found no one at the Budget counter. The other rental companies said Budget *never* did late pickups. We called the toll free number and they confirmed that, no, they didn't do late pickups. Weird My wife went by in the morning to get the car. When she looked at the bill is was DOUBLE the price quoted. The guy at the counter mumbled something about how the terms of the contract had changed and that accounted for increased price. "We couldn't pick UP the car to begin with," she told him. Only then did he correct the price. She brought the car back to the hotel and complained about the steering. I went out and looked at the car. This is what the driver's side front tire looked like. See that not insignificant gash in it? That's a big no. Plus (and it may just be me) but the tire look fairly close to bald. We took it back and exchanged it for a new car. I showed him the photo of the gashed tire. "Well," he said gruffly, "we can't really inspect EVERY car that comes through." Really? Even at major airports, when I've rented a car I've had to do a walk around with the agent. But, heck, why should they have to insure the cars are safe to drive? They did give us a different car. "It's in spot #14." Naturally, there WAS no car in spot #14. So BACK to the counter. "Oh. It's around there. It's a Crown. Just hit the alarm button until you hear it." We finally found it. I walked back to the desk and dropped the key to the previous car on the counter and walked away. "Hey!," he called out, "is the tank full??" Let's recap - we drove the car from the hotel and back to Budget. It took about 7mins. So, yes, the goddamn tank was full. More, importantly, you gave us a crap car which you tried to inflate the price on, had to give us a newer, better car...and you're concerned about a full tank?? You had several screw ups already. Let it go, you idiot. Of course, when the bill came through it was wrong.

    I had a deeply frustrating experience with Alamo rental car this past weekend. Upon picking up our…read morevehicle (later on Friday afternoon), I offered to do an inspection with the representative when picking up our vehicle and was told that it wasn't necessary - a mistake I won't make again. The following morning - we'd hardly driven the car except from the rental location to the hotel - I noticed an air pressure bubble on the tire. Because we were really only using the car that Saturday I wasn't super worried, but our flight left on Sunday morning around 5 am and a 3:30 airport trip with the potential for a busted tire wasn't a risk I wanted to take. I called Alamo immediately upon noticing it and was told it was an "easy fix" by taking it to Jiffy Lube. The Jiffy Lube team tried to warn me that I'd been mislead by the agency, but unfortunately I didn't listen to them... two hours later and multiple phone calls to the rental agency and the "corporate" agents STILL hadn't approved the tire fix, we were still sitting at Jiffy Lube waiting on updates, and our plans for the day had been significantly delayed. Finally, the airport agent offered that we bring the car back to the airport and we could swap cars out. We took her up on the offer and returned to the airport for a car swap. At this point, I called customer service to let them know of the delays and the rep we spoke to was very kind but couldn't do anything helpful. She did suggest that we call following the contract to request a refund. I did so this week, and was told the issue would be escalated and I would receive a call back within two days. Three days later I still hadn't received a call back and called the agency myself, when I was informed that the issue had never been escalated but the customer service rep offered me a small amount of money back, which I accepted. My largest frustrations: - I suspect this car was not properly inspected and should not have been given to us with the tire in the state it was - the suggestion I was given to fix the problem seriously deterred our plans for the day, incredibly frustrating and it was my birthday with many plans. Time we can't get back! - the issue not being escalated after I was told it would be left me wondering if Alamo was hoping the issue would simply be dropped, and that is absolutely unacceptable. Also, I was offered the partial reimbursement by the CS rep directly when I called a 3rd time. Why could this not have been offered from the first? What I appreciate: - while some did not do their jobs, all the customer service reps I spoke with were kind and professional on the phone. - I returned the first vehicle without filling it up with gas (probably not even a quarter gallon was used, but still) and the manager on duty (Ammi, I believe) agreed to not charge me. I'm greatly appreciative of that. - I did receive a refund after my final call to customer service. These appreciations are what impacted me leaving three stars rather than two.
