Also - loads of water toys, surf and boogie boards, 2 bikes and tons of board games (wish we had time to use all this, but were there for graduation!). And the beds were beyond comfy!! Firstly, the location is excellent. (In Summerland Near Santa Barbara) It is right along the beach, but yet very accessible to the main highway. It also provides private access to the beach. Town and shops are minutes away. The little town of Solvang is just an hour away! The facility is very complete. With lots of room to relax, eat, and play. Even equipped it with a ping-pong table! That's particularly great for families with little kids. It has nice appliances to cook your own meal and even provide.ROI filtered, clean drinking water. (No need to bring bottled water!) We usually make breakfast in the morning for the whole family to enjoy then head to town for the day. Come back late afternoon to relax. Enjoy the beach before heading to town again for dinner. Everybody got to do what they like and enjoy a good time with the whole family together At night we had bonfire, which is also a highlight the kids enjoyed very much. Everything was perfect like a 5-start hotel! The condition of the property was better than pictured! It was so clean, no mold. Awesomely remodeled home-very functional; really appreciated attention to detail-even provided grocery bags, two Kleenex boxes in each bathroom, clock in each room, Kitchen had everything for cooking. The views are nice, but the house itself is dated and needs major TLC. For the price, you'd expect at least basic maintenance, such as replacing the missing shower faucet caps so you know which knob is for what, and cleaning or descaling the shower heads. When we arrived, we found hairs and stains on the pillows of both beds. The host ignored our questions to confirm whether the sheets had been changed. The Wi-Fi info and washer/dryer were difficult to locate, and the host was very slow to respond. We only got Wi-Fi access on the second day and received washer/dryer access information from the host after contacting Airbnb Support. No logs for the fireplace so we couldn't use it, the hot tub is very highly chlorinated which makes it very uncomfortable due to eyes stinging. There is barely any privacy on the loungers as there is cameras pointing to them so I wasn't comfortable being in a bikini. We appreciate that gardeners cleared away leaves/branches when we requested after strong winds - that was handled quickly. The address didn't work for Uber, so that's something to keep in mind if you rely on it. Overall, the property has potential but feels neglected. As it stands, the stay didn't live up to expectations and isn't worth the price. Others noted in their reviews that they had a basket with welcome snacks, but there was none of that when we arrived, which obviously isn't a problem nor is it expected, but clearly service is inconsistent. read more

"Should have bought travel insurance" After the airport and major highways were shut down by sudden landslides and floods, I was unable to arrive in Santa Barbara for the honeymoon I had planned. Stranded at the Phoenix airport, I explored alternate flights and other ways to get into Santa Barbara. But in the end, I had no choice but to cancel my stay and remain in Phoenix. Under such unpreventable circumstances, I expected my stay to be refunded. But after extensive dialogue, Paradise Retreats would only refund me for one night, repeatedly expressing that I "should have bought travel insurance." Instead of the flexibilty and humanness that I have come to expect from AirB&B hosts, I was confronted with company policies. Ultimately, I lost thousands of dollars of my hard-saved honeymoon fund. People choose AirB&B to avoid corporate tangles like this, so if you have similar expectations of your host, be on your guard. Concerning Paradise Retreats, you are dealing with a business, not a neighborly understanding person. read more

We had a large family vacation and stayed at the Bella Vista property. ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL! No pictures could ever do this property justice, it is truly breathtaking. We had 14 people ages 4-80+ and every single one of us had the time of our lives. The home and amenities were outstanding, comfortable, and gorgeous. The multiple kitchens are stocked with everything you could need and more for cooking/entertaining a large group. The grounds are just unreal, with pool, jacuzzi, tennis/pickle ball, bocci, volleyball etc. The property managers were so helpful and kind throughout the entire process _ very easy and quick to respond. We loved our stay at Santa Barbara classic! It was perfect for my 50th birthday girls trip! There was a comfortable bed for everyone and a nice large patio table and dining room table for sharing meals and wine! We only had a couple of questions before our stay and they were very responsive! At most vacation rentals that I stay there is always a "to Do" list upon departure whether it be stripping the bed, running the dishwasher or emptying the trash but at this property there was no "to do" list. We don't mind doing the little things and we checked and checked for a list and there wasn't one which was quite nice! We just had to turn up the AC and lock the door! I was hitting a wall in finding a summer rental in Santa Barbara. A SB friend suggested looking at Paradise Retreats website. While the prices are absolutely not for those on a tight budget, they do offer a professional and reliable service. The place I settled on was exactly as described. I'd been burned before by deceptive short term rental services and was worried as I was not allowed to visit the home until my rental started. They provided a good house cleaning service twice a month in my case. The Cost to do anything in SB area is sky high, so plan on paying MUCH more than wherever you live, for everything. We enjoyed our cozy stay in the Seashell cottage. Beautiful decorative touches, with plenty of kitchenware for dining, and comfortable seating for a couple. The creek in the back is pretty awesome. We were there during a winter storm and watched it grow. Fortunately it did not get too high. Enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Black Sheep, and lovely hikes up the San Ysidro Creek, and walks along the nearby beach. The cottage was very clean and behind locking gates. Very private and quiet setting. Only sound was of the creek. It was the perfect retreat spot to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the day that we met at UCSB. We just left our 4th rental property and 5th vacation with Paradise Retreats. All the houses have been wonderful and sparkling clean upon arrival. They are equipped with everything one would need for a vacation including information about the local area and staff on hand for questions. A beautiful house, close to beach and shopping...everything fresh and new inside. I believe we were only second or third to rent it. A few suggestions: we would have appreciated better nightlights in the halls. Also, if someone is staying in the guest room with the twin beds, they are likely using the hall bathroom directly across. A pedestal sink in there looks nice but totally impractical - no counter room at all. I had to drag in a cooler we brought as a countertop. Bella Vista in Carpenteria is a slice of heaven. Our family has been coming here for 4-5 years, as a family favorite. Always such a joy to return.
