I have booked two reservations with the Southern Pines, NC Enterprise Rent-A-Car a month apart. The first reservation they called me 20 minutes prior to pick up to say they could not honor the reservation. The second reservation they called me an hour and a half prior to say they had no cars. They called me 9 minutes before my reservation to tell me they had no vehicles left. Not only that their Internet was down as well.... with all of this being said... every staff member was hustling and happy making the best of the situation with a full lobby! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE (0/5 stars): My car was hit while parked. I needed a rental vehicle that was being paid for by the other person's insurance. The assistant manager Byron HARASSED ME DAILY--RUDELY--for car payment when he needed to simply ask the insurance guys. He made me do his job for him, repeatedly; INFANTILE, IMMATURE man... (Enterprise needs to update their paid for by insurance companies system.) I was so exhausted dealing with Byron, that I ended up buying a car two weeks earlier than I needed to so I wouldn't have to take another call from a disrespectful, lazy person, so Enterprise could have had a full easy 30 days of a car rental paid by car insurance if Byron had not been lazy. Id rather not even give this place a one star. However, the turn over rate with people is ridiculous, so don't count on dealing with any familiar faces within this business. Also no one answers the phone when you call so you have to drive up there physically in person and their excuse is they're too busy. But while in line, you see at least 3 other people sitting or standing around that work there doing zip. As a small business owner, this to me looks and sounds like pure laziness with ZERO customer service and apologies! I set things up far within a 24 hour advance time frame thinking I would get a rental only to be told they have nothing and I am welcome to drive 45mins out of my county. But how am I suppose to get there if my car isn't drivable hence is why I need a rental? But whoever I spoke to setting things up prior put down our contact information incorrectly AND the day I go to drop off my vehicle for repairs thinking my rental from Enterprise is squared away they fail to do their part! Beware of this rental location! I reserved an economy car at the Southern Pines Enterprise location. When I went to pick up the rental, I was told that all they had was a standard vehicle. Normally, this is no issue because the company always provides the upgraded vehicle at the original reservation price. The employee told me that he couldn't do that, and he had to charge me an additional $15 a day. The employee stated that he didn't know why they rent economy cars on the website when they never have economy cars at this location. They put you in a situation where you are forced to pay the extra charge regardless of the fact that it is Enterprise's fault that they don't have the car you reserved at the agreed upon price. At best this is false advertising. At worst, this is fraudulent. Go elsewhere. read more

Worst car rental place ever made a reservation for 830am called a little after 830 to let them know I would be late due to waiting for the shuttle they informed me that would be ok as they were waiting for the cars I got to the enterprise at 850 and was informed that there were no vehicles available as they were ALL getting oil changes and ask if I could come back in an hour as I couldn't because I had no vehicle to come back in they offered to take me 30 mins away to another enterprise but they would make me have an 1 hr 30 min drive back home and they said there were no drivers to bring the car here so now I'm shit out of luck and can't get my car fixed because there's no rentals and there's no rentals no where read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was in town visiting my Mom who had recently been in a car crash; not hurt, but in need of a rental car. A reservation was made for a rental car and upon our arrival there were not any cars available; no problem, they assured us they would have a car later on and to come back at 5. We arrived back at Enterprise just before 5 like Instructed. Come to find out my Mom had misplaced her drivers license after the car crash. Now it's getting close to 5:30 (closing time is at 6), but "Jessica" assured us that we had plenty of time to run home and get it. Couldn't find the drivers license; but called on our way back to Enterprise and let them know we were on the way and I would be renting the car in my name. After transferring the reservation to my name, there were apparently no cars left except a Dodge MiniVan that they were trying to pawn off on anyone (even though we left twenty minutes ago and Jessica assured us they'd take care of us with a sedan). Not to mention they were going to charge us $170 for a two day rental. Please. Jessica puts on a smile and pretends to be kind, but ultimately is extremely unhelpful and quite snotty to be honest. During our 3 trips to Enterprise that day, there were numerous people who were displeased with the service being provided. The only reason I am giving this "family owned business" a 1-star rating is because I am not allowed to leave a lower review. Did I mention my Moms rental car reservation was for 30-days? Today I needed a vehicle in an emergency following an accident. The positives were that they had a suitable vehicle available and the staff was friendly and fast. However, the car was FILTHY. Pollen all over the outside, food and crusted filth on the seats and even ceiling, dust covered dash / console area, greasy hand prints on the inside of the windshield and rear view mirror. First let me say that for $80 a day the car should have been CLEAN and full of gas (it had a half tank), second the notice about areas that had been sanitized for my protection amid the pandemic was a lie. There is NO way the areas listed were sanitized as they still had dust and greasy prints all over them. Normally I would have addressed these issues on site and had them clean the car - but as I had to deal with the accident details I didn't have time to wait around for a detail (and believe me this needs a detail cleaning). Just got home and called the national enterprise number and they're closed for the day. I'll take pictures of the dirt and add them tomorrow for your viewing pleasure. Very disappointing. read more

This specific location will make you reconsider your choice in car rental service . The assistant manager "K" as they referred to themselves was very unprofessional. We had a slight misunderstanding with the vehicle that we needed. My wife is 8 months pregnant and we also have 2 small children. The vehicle that we requested was suppose to fit our needs, especially if our vehicle that we were renting for matches up. The assistant manager K was unprofessional in the sense of poor customer service, terrible communication, and we felt a distasteful demeanor in trying to "resolve " the issue at hand . We thought it would be a pleasant experience because this is Enterprise, we were wrong. For future reference, maybe a class in professional business etiquette should be a requirement. Kelly at the counter says reservations mean nothing - the reservation system allows reservations when there are no cars available. I have used Enterprise extensively in another state, and this location is the first I've been to that asks for a $300 deposit that is not reflected online when you reserve. DWayne, the manager, said he could show it to me. He picked up a tablet and swiped a few times but then put it down without ever showing me anything. Went on the app and reserve a vehicle got conformation. As I was going to pick up the vehicle I received a phone call saying they did not have any vehicles. If you expect a vehicle you may get it and a good chance you will be inconvenienced. This has happened twice at this location. I express the inconvenience and the manager answered was nothing he can do about it and sorry you feel that way. It's odd that last week in Nashville TN I attempted to rent a car and the app showed none available. Why can't this small location keep up with what's on there lot. This is the second time that I have made a reservation to find out the morning of that there are no availabilities. If it was the first time, I'd be more inclined to believe it was a system glitch in the online database showing availabilities when there are not. Now I just believe it's laziness and a lack of customer care. Hertz had been good in a pinch last time this placed made me jump through hoops to find a car last minute and again today. Worst experience! It's extremely obvious at this location that they are only focused on sales! My father was in need of a rental in order to get to work! The experience was terrible! Unlike other customers who were paying with the same form of payment and using personal insurance my father was asked to give multiple "references". When told he would use his own insurance Jessica informed us she needed to call his insurance company and verify! Bogus as I've only needed to show my insurance card when renting previously! She even had the audacity to say she needed to know what his deductible was! Why? We will not be returning to this location! New to the area and needed a rental after leaving my car at Ford for repairs. Ford called for me in advance and I did an online reservation. Went in and was there for 1 1/2 hours only to learn they didn't have the compact car I reserved online. They wanted me to get a full sized car and NOT at compact pricing. That's not what I wanted. I asked the Manager, Jessica Fisher if I could get a courtesy upgrade seeing as I had a reservation AND she had just done this for the customer before me. She denied this request and told me "they were already doing me a favor accepting 1 form of verification instead of 2. Now, because I'd requested a courtesy upgrade noting the gentleman before me she then requested the 2 forms of verification noting they had to have the same name and address". Because they said it was policy to show 2 utility bills if not using a credit card I showed several. My last name didn't match my license because I'd divorced and had just changed my name and was working on other items. I had passport with correct last name, drivers license, old water Bill, credit card statements statements. Even a divorce decre. Not good enough for Mrs. Fisher who had clearly changed her tone when I mentioned what'd she did for the other customer. I can't believe such a simple task frustrated me as it did and left me feeling very unwelcome in my new community. read more

WARNING: Enterprise is unreliable. I missed my appoinment and am late for work this morning because of them. Apparently I wrongly trusted their online reservation system when I shouldn't have. After making my reservation last night (after the local office was closed), I apparently should have known not to believe my rental confirmation from the company because the systems had not updated for current inventory. After walking to the office from the auto mechanic, I entered Enterprise to hear, "I think this is that reservation. Did anyone call her." I received no call. Then they told me they had no cars, but if I was willing to wait a while (?) they could get a car for me. My reservation was for 8 am, and my appointment was at 9am, my work is at least 40 minutes away. I couldnt wait. Then, they were able to upgrade the cars of customers who reserved prior to their office closing the day before. ....How can they offer an upgrade to their other customers, but not have an extra car to rent to me. I assume you need one extra car to give the option of an upgrade. I am probably wrong about this too. They were nice enough to drop me off at my own car, at the auto shop. I called customer service and told them the situation. The lady was nice and patient, but the best she could do was send my info to a manager, "Maybe the could find me a car later." I dont need one now or later, i needed it at my time of reservation. Anyhow, I havent heard back yet, so I sit in Dunkin Donuts waiting for my car. *Note, I understand it was last minute, but life happens last minute and that is one purpose for automated services. I waited three weeks to say anything because I was repeatedly assured by customer service and the escalations department that "someone will call you to make this right". Yet, here we are. I rented a vehicle to drive to a conference in TN. My colleague and I were told the car would be ready by 1:30 on 10/24. This is not my first time renting a car or even my first time renting from this location (unfortunately), so I made a point of it to not show up at 1:30 on the nose, as every time I have come at the exact time, it's not ready. I ran from my house to pick up the vehicle so I wouldn't have to leave a car in their parking lot. I arrived a little before 3:30 and was informed by car was "ready to go", but at the satellite location. No big deal. I ran to the satellite location. Once I arrived there, I was told that not only did they NOT have a car for me, but that the original location I had went to had cancelled my reservation as a no show and then "bumped it" over to the satellite office with the dates changed to a day the satellite office is not open. The woman was apologetic and said, "they do that all the time. They say they run it like a doctor's office; if you're not there right on time, you don't get a car". I called the regional manager and left a message explaining the situation then ran BACK to the original Hwy 1 location. Jessica (manager) confirmed that they did not have a vehicle for me and cited the same doctor's office comparison. When I guaranteed they were nothing like a doctor's office, she looked completely offended. I asked "what would happen if I had flight trouble or an emergency?" Jessica said, "then you would let us know to hold it" speaking more towards the hypothetical emergency, I said, "how?" and she responded with an EXTREMELY condescending baby tone and gesture to the phone in my hand, "with your phone, ma'am". I admit, I was not rainbows and sunshine, but I was shocked and extremely frustrated that this was being enforced when it is written absolutely NOWHERE on their website or in my confirmation email that this is policy. I ended up running home without a car and having to drive my old vehicle through the mountains. I have called the regional manager twice, I have spoken to customer service four times and the escalations department twice. Every time, I am told that is not how Enterprise operates and that someone will call me soon and "make it right". Judging by the most recent comments on this Yelp page, it looks like no one is concerned with fixing this location and dealing with their power-tripping manager. If Enterprise has a rule about picking up at scheduled times, that's their prerogative. But, it needs to be written or, at a minimum, shared with the poor customer who had no option but to rent from this place. read more

I needed a rental while my car was being repaired and this is the only legit place in town to go. I saved a little by booking on Orbitz. When I arrived it was storming. The staff was so welcoming. Tessa helped me and even invited me to wait out the storm there with them and partake in their office party. I couldn't stay so Tessa went out in the storm and brought the car as closely to the front door as she could and helped me in using her umbrella. Each time the repair shop told me they still hadn't finished my car repair, I would simply call the local office and they would extend my rental at the original rate. I called to be picked up 15 minutes before I was ready and they took 45 minutes to arrive. I had tried to ask for a specific time the day before and was refused. I had tried to give them directions as I know gps often misses my turn but they refused. Then they got lost. When I finally arrived I was offered a car that had just been returned (while I was waiting in line) and the person returning had stated the battery had just died. I obviously didn't want this one. It took another 30 minutes to get a car, which had only a 1/4 tank of gas, so I had to immediately refill. The whole process took and hour and a half. "We will pick you up" is easier said than done. To top it off I am now on my second time renting (it is for work trips so I have no choice who to go through) and I thought I would be smart and call at 8 am to ask for an 845 pickup and ask the driver to call me for directions. When I called at 840 because the driver hadn't called, I was told no one had left yet. They apparently had left a note on my file saying I would call back when ready. I in no way said that, and in fact had a very specific conversation about having the driver call me before they left. Southern pines enterprise is an absolute cluster of inexperience and poor customer service. read more

I do not recommend renting a vehicle from this establishment/location. I rented a vehicle last week for Mon-Fri and was thoroughly disappointed. I had reserved the vehicle prior and had all arrangements made online. The initial walk-in and process to acquire the rental was simple and efficient. The process to walk out to the car with the associate was not a pleasant experience. When the associate and I walked out to the car the associate was not attentive or engaging at all. Upon opening the door to the vehicle I was taken back by the stench. The inside of the vehicle smelled like vomit and urine. The seats were filthy and looked as if they were not just stained but still had substance on the material. The windows, both inside and out were filthy. The rearview mirror had some sort of filth on the mirror. The inside of the vehicle was filthy and covered in dust. The gas tank was a little over a quarter full which meant I was going to have to stop right away and fill up. When I asked if there was another vehicle to take versus this filthy one I was told "No." I was left with two choices by this establishment, take the filthy vehicle or leave. On another note, I had called the week prior and asked about overnight parking for my personal vehicle. I was told they offer overnight parking for personal vehicles. Upon arrival to the location, there is a sign out front that states, "No Overnight Parking." Horrible experience...I recommend going elsewhere or having a back-up plan. read more
