This spot was mentioned by a coworker after I asked for a spot that was chill, cheap, and had good vibes (with hookah options of course). I happen to go on a night where they didn't have a DJ (went on a Thursday) but it was still a decent time. Parking was easy to find on the street and once you walk up - find the red door...it's easily missed. Instead of the fact they didn't have any music playing (they had the tvs going) I was distracted by the REAL happy hour prices and their crab cake sliders! Parking: 3/5 Food: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 It's Giving: Quick spot to Good for people watching...you may catch an auntie having a ball!

When I tell you the side car was side car-ing! The bartender did her thing for sure. I was not disappointed in my drink at all. Shoot, I had to cut the night short and head to my airbnb to collect myself. During my visit, I tried the mambo wings which were really good, and I glad the bartender/server suggested it. I came during happy hour and the vibes were chill and the music was good. They did have hookah, which is great for all the hookah lovers but I didn't try it out this time. I would definitely come back if in the area.

Very nice ambiance. The bar gets packed about 5 so get there early. The food was good. Very good happy hour prices. I had the Thai fried rice and catfish nuggets which were delicious. It's a very small place so not a lot of seating. There was only 1 bartender. The other staff arrived late. That's why I only gave it 3 stars. The current bartender at the time was forgetting our drinks but she was working hard. The management was not very hands on. He just walked around. There were other people that worked there but no sure if they were managers. They also had hookah. They didn't have a lot of alcohol as I kept asking about certain drinks to make they didn't have it.

Went to this spot while it was relatively new but it's certainly one of the better happy hour spots in the DC area. It's pretty lowkey in a location where you might drive by it once or twice before actually realizing it's the spot you're looking for. Once you enter the red door there's a long bar with large screen tv's, couches and tables surrounding it, a large enough space to accommodate a decent sized crowd while still being able to preserve your personal space, at least during happy hour which runs from 3pm-7pm. There's also an additional back room I guess one could call that the VIP area but it has decent decor with the standard grassy back wall for those who want to get their social media photos in. The bar offers a variety of food and drinks, rail liquor priced for $5, top shelf liquor for only $7 (which is hard to find anywhere) and a nice array of gourmet quality food options priced at $7 ranging from their salmon basil thai fried rice to their crab cake sliders during happy hour. They offer larger portioned meal options for their dinner menu. In addition hookah is offered which is priced at a reasonable $25 (which again is pretty hard to find in the area). They always have a great r&b and hip hop playlist going as you enjoy your time there and service has always been excellent in my several outings there, the bartenders and staff do a great job of taking care of you. Overall I highly recommend giving them a try whenever you're in the area and please get the salmon sliders if you go you'll thank me later.

Two stars for the ambiance as the interior design is modern, upscale, and trendy! Negative 1,000 stars due to my experience. Visited on Sunday, July 17th, outside it was almost cool with a slight breeze...., enter this establishment and it is like a sauna-no a/c or a/c not working! We were ready to eat, drink, and be merry! Ordered food as well as a strawberry mimosa I never received! No seats available and many tables marked as reserved. We did get our food, brûlée French toast and wings-DELICIOUS but the worst part of the experience was our interactions with the business owner! He stood around like a security guard when he should've been helping his obviously short staff! We sat at a "reserved" table and he promptly came over to tell us so and that we would have to move! No hello, thanks for coming, kiss my grits, or nothing! Later, a bus boy who understands the concept of customer service, ushered us over to the vip side where the a/c was working, and where we could sit and eat our food. We eat, start to relax, DJ is pumping then here comes the owner again..., walks up "y'all gotta move"! And continues with I told y'all this was reserved! My friend responded and said you told us that on the other side(bar side). An owner with any intent to keep a customer would've responded differently. This ENTITLED owner proceeds to argue that he did indeed tell us to move previously from where we are now sitting. I made the mistake of chiming in to say someone told us we could sit here. He then begins to interrogate me-who told you that, what did they have on, ain't nobody told you that!! Where they at? What did they have on? Wow! I am a fully grown professional woman and have no need to lie in this situation. I told him he didn't have to investigate anything as I will leave! Thank you for ruining what could have been an enjoyable brunch for me and my friend! I looked forward to coming here and having a new spot to bring my frequent out-of-town guests too however I wouldn't dare bring them here! Do better sir!

The service was EXTREMELY slow. While our server/bartender was nice, I really wish they hadn't been so understaffed. I highly recommend the jerk chicken. Like she said, the food was absolutely delicious. My lamb chops were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the Jollof Rice was just as good. Her Red Snapper's flavor had her cleaning the bones! :) The crab cake egg rolls were VERY good, not the best that we've had but close!! Our server was friendly and he let us know that he was brand new. That said, he was a little awkward and not confident in what he was doing, so he definitely needs some work. The interior is nice, definitely more of a lounge feel than a traditional restaurant and as we were finishing up, the younger crowd was coming in for the nightlife. The next time we're in the mood for good food without the hustle and bustle of the DC crowd, Black Diamond it is!!

The avocado toast topped with a perfectly poached egg topped with Japanese black sesame seeds is my go-to order, and the sandwiches are consistently good. Their cocktails are excellent, and the bar side makes a great venue for private parties or larger gatherings. I am apparently in the miniscule minority, but I find the drip coffee a bit too dark and somehow slightly burnt for my taste. Fortunately, they make an outstanding Dirty London Fog and a wonderful London Fog Chai Latte, either of which I'd happily order instead. All manner of alternative "milks" are available as are a pretty decent selection of local beers in their cooler if you are grabbing take out. Be prepared for a wait on weekends--this is one of Takoma Park's most popular brunch destinations. Like many cafés these days, it's a favorite of laptop-wielding remote workers, so tables can be at a premium. In my experience, though, solo diners are often gracious about moving to the communal table when they notice [or more likely are asked polietly if they wouldn't mind moving] a larger group waiting. It's just one more example of the friendly neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

My sister recommended Diversity Lounge and she hasn't let me down so I popped in. I got to the area before 9:30 pm on a Saturday. Parking was easy to find on the street so that was great. Not saying that's how it always is but this is my story. I walked in and went to the register and a wonderful woman asked if I needed assistance and showed me to a seat. Seats were super comfortable and the rest of the staff of very nice as well. (Good customer service takes every experience up several notches for me from the get go) So, since I'm a frequent hookah smoker at home, i like to add notes in my phone for places I might want to visit when I get out. I ordered my Hookah and tea and sat back to take in the vibes. Nice decor, TVs featuring sports and what not. I could get used to it. There was music playing quite low in the background. I open my notes app and get a few lines in and my hookah is already on the way out. . Very excited about that. I let the coals (quicklights) heat up the shisha to get a solid first hit so I sip my tea and lean back. After a few minutes, I take the first hit and it was what I was expecting to happen. Good smoke. Good flavor. Blueberry mint is my go-to tester flavor. I was not disappointed. I smoked for about an hour and then decided to head home. I caught the weekend price rate of $35 for the session and then the tea. Oh! Clean bathroom. Downside is that there was only one toilet in the place. So I could see that being a thing on a crowded night. I left around 10:30 and the music switched up so they were probably getting ready to shift into the young folk crowd. Anywho, I recommend it. I forget the weekday rate but if the service doesn't change, it's still rock solid.

So we didn't have to pay for parking. Plenty of parking. As we ventured out of the Parking lot, we heard reggae music and saw this place on the corner and stopped in. It was a $20 cover charge to get in. Cash, ApplePay, Cashapp. etc. they take it all to enter Place was split in 3. You walk in and thru a narrow area where general dining was. The middle section contained the bar and plush seating (where we were) with some TV's. The Back room had the DJ and seating for Hookah. Lounge/Restaurant reminded me of a narrow townhouse but there was still plenty of space to sit/stand/walk around Pics of the current menu and prices are attached to this review. I had a Blue MF'er to drink and it was small but Strong - only need one. My friends also said their drinks were good and strong too I didn't get any food, but my friends got the Strew and Jollof Rice and said that was good, along with chicken wings. Food seemed to take a long time to come out There was a live DJ spinning class early 2000 music, dancehall, and reggae music of today and a bit old. I would absolutely come back for that DJ alone. Around midnight, the place started to fill out a bit more with folks. There were even laser lights and smoke/fog coming out of a machine in the middle room. Pretty chill Bar seemed a bit slow and possibly understaffed waitress, but everyone was very helpful and patient. Prepare to pay for food and drinks upfront.
