Brunching is a part of my life. Everywhere I go regardless of the State or Country - I will be looking for a brunch spot. The Society Restaurant and Lounge was listed as a brunch buffet but they no longer have a buffet, which was great for me. When you walk in the ambiance was a nice relaxing vibe. We had an awesome waiter (Christopher). The food was excellent - top notch. We ordered the society shrimp, caribbean rolls, fried chicken, mac & cheese, rice & peas and lamb chops. I felt overwhelmed with all of this great food but I enjoyed every bit of it. We sampled the mimosas and it was just average so we ordered a carafe of rum punch. The rum punch was a hit. A perfect blend of juices and rum. After brunch we went upstairs to their rooftop brunch party with a live DJ. We danced and danced and had more drinks. It was an awesome brunch and brunch party. The only downside is the restroom is on the first floor. So you have to walk down to go back up but it's worth it. This is definitely a place you need to check out for yourself. Next time I am in Maryland I will be back.

I came to the Society with a coworker on a Friday night. I was greeted by a hostess who I informed that I was waiting for them to arrive. I was told about the 90-minute dining limit, and asked how flexible that was. She said she could be lenient and start it once our food arrived. I was surprised because the restaurant was nowhere near busy. The booth seats are in TERRIBLE condition. They have stains and rips throughout the booths, and we had to switch locations because she didn't feel comfortable sitting where we were first located with shorts on. I ordered a mango margarita, and I didn't find out until we received a bill that there was an upcharge for the flavor (even though it's listed as a flavor you can pick on the menu.) The drink was good, though. My coworker ordered the catfish sandwich, which she had to send back because the fries were cold and undercooked, and the fish didn't taste good. The society shrimp was tasty with the sweet and spicy sauce, and the shrimp were decently sized. I ordered the calypso red snapper, and Tangy calypso sauce paired well with it. The rice was very underseasoned, and the cabbage was edible. I won't be coming back here, and I can't recommend that people do either. They don't care enough about their appearance or the food they serve. Oh yeah, the 20% fair wage fee is applied as well.

Wifey and I went out for a date night and this was our first time here. Found this place on instagram and the food was delicious. The host and service were great. The vibe and music was chill as they were playing some throwback R&B. We both ate all are good, it was that good.

The vibes and staff here were excellent! It's a great place to come hangout for brunch and to meet up with friends, which is what we did. The shrimp appetizer was presented well and perfectly cooked, but it was salty. My whole red snapper was pretty good but it needed much more of a crisp to it--I'm not into soggy fish skin. Everything else was good. My partner LOVED his oxtails and grits and just kept talking about how innovative it was and how he wants to eat it again lol so definitely a fan

If this review was only for the vibes then it would be 5 stars but unfortunately we had dinner there and the service was lacking. This is a minimal decorated restaurant and lounge with an odd arrangement of tables. Our group of 8 ordered apps, drinks and mains. For the starters we had wings (jerk and grand Mainer), shrimp tacos, and society shrimp. One of the wing orders was forgotten and took 20 minutes more to come. The starters were good and well seasoned. While we were eating the mains sporadically came out - snapper, Cajun pasta, shrimp and salmon tacos, salmon, and curry lobster and shrimp. 2 mains were forgotten and took an additional 20minutes to come out. Drinks were missing, I personally did not receive my drink until halfway through my main entree (1.5 hours later). Of the entrees, the Cajun pasta was the favorite. The lobster was awful - salty and mushy. The snapper was over cooked and dry. In summary service on a Friday night was terrible and the 20% service tip was automatically included so there was no incentive there to provide adequate service. They offered a round of shots but our entire party doest drink and honestly it was sugar water more than alcohol. Maybe this was an off night or maybe it's only decent for drinks and starters but otherwise skip.

I had a great meal here! The ribeye was excellent. The lemon drop martinis were vwry good too. My server was friendly and efficient. I also love the music and lively atmosphere. Looked like a popular place for groups and birthdays and still I was perfectly comfortable dining here alone!

Service We arrived just five minutes before the end of happy hour, and the host and waiter quickly seated us and made sure our orders got in on time. Our waiter was attentive, checking in on us throughout the evening, which added to the positive experience. Taste The menu featured many tasty options, all reasonably priced. We ordered the shrimp tacos, mac and cheese balls, and wings, which were all delicious. The mac and cheese balls, in particular, were a standout! For drinks, we had mojitos and margaritas, both well-made with a noticeable amount of alcohol--exactly what we needed. Ambiance The vibe at Society was lively, with great music that added to the fun atmosphere. It's an ideal spot to unwind, whether for happy hour or a night out with friends. Recommendation After a disappointing happy hour elsewhere, Society gave us the redemption we needed! With flavorful food, well-mixed drinks, and excellent service, it's a spot I'd definitely return to. Highly recommended if you're looking for good vibes and tasty eats!

Went here for the first time coming out of state and the vibes and food were good! We pulled up just a little too late for brunch but we still had a good time. Friendly service and nice ambiance

Went here last night for dinner with a friend. We had an 830 reservation, so when we got there and checked in with the hostess, she looked around to see what tables were open which was different. It was pretty packed but I get the impression if there were no tables open, we would have had to wait despite having a reservation. There were two tables open, and she asked us to choose one. One was all the way in the back and the other was by the window in front. We chose to sit by the window in front but it happened to be right under a vent, so it was very cold. Once we sat down, we waited for over 25 minutes before our waitress arrived. At one point, I checked in with the hostess to ask if someone was coming to our table because now it's after 9 pm and we are pretty hungry. The hostess came to give us water, and told us the waitress would be with us shortly. It took at least 15 minutes after our water was served before our waitress arrived. When she finally arrived, I was ready to order but my friend was still deciding. I put in my order--some jerk wings and a side salad with a cocktail to start. My friend wasn't sure what she wanted so I told them to just bring out my side salad to start but bring my wings out later with my friend's order. I will say our drinks and my side salad came out quickly and by the time they came out, my friend put her order in. Interestingly enough, my friend got her order of the Cajun pasta with chicken way before my wings came out. I'm talking about 20 minutes or so before my appetizer wings came out. I was utterly confused why wings would take so long to come out. My friend did let me try a bit of her pasta while I waited for my wings, and that was very good, I must say. I do honestly think they forgot about my order or my waitress never put it in although I saw her write it down. Once again, I went up to the hostess to ask if my wings were on the way because our waitress never checked back in on us to see if we needed anything and how the food was coming along (I know the hostess was probably sick of me!) The women beside us commented that it was taking very long for them as well. Now again, I know they were busy, but I've been in busier restaurants where things moved more efficiently. There were tons of people working--they had two hostesses on, yet service was barely happening. Finally, my wings came out about 30 minutes later, and they were very good, but not worth the wait in my opinion. They had a bit of spice, good seasoning, and had a good portion of wings--with an even mix of drums and flats. My critique is that I think they could have left the wings in the fryer a bit longer. I will say their music is great. My friend and I definitely were enjoying the DJ and the song selection, and there's space to dance if you choose. There's also an upstairs lounge and rooftop that my friend and I checked out before we headed out. It was pretty dead upstairs compared to downstairs though. I don't think I'd come back here for food. Maybe just to have a drink and enjoy the music. I don't think service is their strong suit.

Service was great, vibe was clubbing for happy hour, food was thai spring rolls vegetarian, ceaser salad, and Cajun pasta vegetarian. Delicious will come back again.

Definitely a fun establishment Jamaican themed music and sports playing on the TVs. The service is okay like any sports bar it's sometimes hard to get a bartenders attention but at least you can sit at the bar and eat a meal with out feeling claustrophobic. The food was greatly priced in my opinion i am not sure where you can go and get 2 lobster tail for the price I paid for it I was really happy about that. Food was fire too tasted like a true Jamaican restaurant.

Disclaimer, this review is solely based on the early Saturday afternoon experience that the upstairs lounge gave. So, we walked over here after having brunch at their other establishment, the Breakfast Club, so we essentially just grabbed a drink and got some dancing in. Therefore, my review doesn't address food. The lounge area is decently sized. There is a green cute wall with seating towards the back portion of the space. There are also additional tables and seating spread out throughout the entire room. There are also fans strategically located to further circulate the air in the room, which is a plus. The music selection here is absolutely great which prompts dancing! The drink I ordered was the Hands on your knees which tasted good and had a good amount of alcohol in it. If you are looking for a good vibe with good sounds, this may be your spot. I know I will definitely be back when I am in the area and looking for a Sunday funday or a low-key good time on a Saturday afternoon.

Technically, this would be a 3.5 star review, but math tells me that I have round up to a 4. Overall, we had a nice experience having brunch at The Society. We wanted to try a new brunch spot in downtown Silver Spring, and we were not disappointed...by the food The extensive menu has a nice variety of Southern and Caribbean dishes. For my dining pleasure, I went with the Fish and Crab Ball & Grits, and my partner went with the chicken meal (3 pieces of chicken, green, mac n cheese, and a biscuit), and we both shared an order of the chicken wings. OMG! The chicken wings were AMAZING with a perfect blend IMO of sweet, tangy, and spicy. My Fish and Grits and his "Southern Platter" were pretty good. Also, the portions are huge, so you will not leave hungry if you order an entree. While the food was great, I thought the service could have been a bit better. On a couple of occasions, I had to ask for basic things for dining (e.g., salt/pepper/hot sauce and silverware). I was a bit surprised that we had to request silverware since we ordered food. Also, I was a bit surprised when the bartender did not let us know that it was last call for bottomless beverages. I would say in at least 95% of restaurants where I've had bottomless brunch, the server or bartender would say something like: Hey, brunch service is ending soon, so if you want anything else let me know ASAP. Ok, so I get that a restaurant doesn't have to do this, but it does add to the customer experience. Be aware that the restaurant adds a 20% gratutiy. I don't really have a problem with this, but just be aware so you don't tip extra . . . unless you want to. Perhaps, this is an issue more with the area (or rather the clientele) than the restaurant itself: I will admit that I was put a little on edge because the restaurant had a bouncer that did quick body searches/pat downs on the men entering the restaurant. I was like dang, do people really pop off during an early afternoon brunch. Then again, I guess anything can happen when mimosas are involved. Oh, I almost forgot. During our meal the owner (or as she put it the chef, cook, receptionist, AND custodian) came out and introduced herself to a few people at the bar and in the dining room. I thought that was a sweet gesture that somewhat made up for the struggles with the service.

My sister recommended Diversity Lounge and she hasn't let me down so I popped in. I got to the area before 9:30 pm on a Saturday. Parking was easy to find on the street so that was great. Not saying that's how it always is but this is my story. I walked in and went to the register and a wonderful woman asked if I needed assistance and showed me to a seat. Seats were super comfortable and the rest of the staff of very nice as well. (Good customer service takes every experience up several notches for me from the get go) So, since I'm a frequent hookah smoker at home, i like to add notes in my phone for places I might want to visit when I get out. I ordered my Hookah and tea and sat back to take in the vibes. Nice decor, TVs featuring sports and what not. I could get used to it. There was music playing quite low in the background. I open my notes app and get a few lines in and my hookah is already on the way out. . Very excited about that. I let the coals (quicklights) heat up the shisha to get a solid first hit so I sip my tea and lean back. After a few minutes, I take the first hit and it was what I was expecting to happen. Good smoke. Good flavor. Blueberry mint is my go-to tester flavor. I was not disappointed. I smoked for about an hour and then decided to head home. I caught the weekend price rate of $35 for the session and then the tea. Oh! Clean bathroom. Downside is that there was only one toilet in the place. So I could see that being a thing on a crowded night. I left around 10:30 and the music switched up so they were probably getting ready to shift into the young folk crowd. Anywho, I recommend it. I forget the weekday rate but if the service doesn't change, it's still rock solid.

My cousin and bestie were in town and wanted a true DC brunch/day party vibe, so we gave it a shot and overall, it was a good time. When we arrived, we ordered mimosa pitchers and were directed straight to the buffet. The food spread was huge: waffles, pancakes, French toast, made-to-order omelets, chicken sausage, pork sausage, bacon, fried chicken, jerk chicken, shrimp, grits, collard greens, mac & cheese, breakfast potatoes, salmon, fresh fruit, and more than I can even remember. The variety was definitely a highlight. I wish they had real food utensils instead of plastic. The mimosas, however, were very juice-heavy and pretty weak . We ended up switching to bottle service so we could enjoy real champagne, which was much better. The absolute best part of the experience was our server, Noah kind, attentive, friendly, and fine AF . She made sure our drinks stayed flowing and kept us informed about our table time so there were no surprises. Top-tier service. The space itself is large with two levels. We initially thought we'd be seated downstairs, but due to a private event, we were directed upstairs. You pre-pay for the food at the door before being seated, while drinks are paid for at the table. Hookah is also available for an additional cost. I think if the music was turned down, menu expanded, and separate restrooms for genders, then the place would be a more memorable experience. The server was a nice young man, but he would piece things like me having to verbally ask him for utensils, straws, napkins, and other items that we needed, instead of him providing the basic essentials up front, taking the initiative to ask us in advance or even suggest that since he brought napkins how about straws etc., having more hustle and a proactive approach goes a long ways. The door man and the server were nonchalant here, for a place blasting Nelly at 100 plus decibels, we do want the staff to have a little energy. The music upstairs and downstairs are also different, and you can hear the music thumping at the garage about to leave. I think this place is at the top of the noise ordinance downtown Silver Spring. We struggled to find menu items (There was some item online I think burger that was not on the current menu, so the updates need to be reflected online.) We enjoyed our grilled chicken sandwiches with avocado, lettuce, tomatoes etc. but there needs to be more of a hybrid approach here if the owner wants to maximize business potential. The club and lounge era is dying especially with Millennials and Gen Z globally. There should be the quieter restaurant vibe that might have live events like comedy shows (Hire local Huggy Lowdown to work down here) or music performances etc. (Hello Marcus Johnson another local) I think having live events here occasionally will provide the energy better than blasting music that will crack you and your dog's eardrums with your dog sitting outside of the establishment as I don't think Fido needs to be sitting at the table eating and drinking with me like some folks think. Del the Funky Homosapien "It's important to practice good hygiene, at least if you wanna run with my team!" All in all, let's not have it too clubby, let's scrap the shared restrooms, let's have more professional, welcoming, inviting service, and this is a rough gem in the making if major structural changes and updates are made and they step their game up, they have the foundation and bones but need to carve it out a bit more and polish the rock!
