I came to this establishment in February as part of a bar crawl. The place was over capacity and hard to move around. The staff were rude and didn't honor the drink specials until the time promoted for the bar crawl. Although the crowd and music were good, it was just too many people to enjoy the atmosphere. The vibe is hit or miss on the weekends. The food is decent. Drinks were pretty good btw. On the weekends make sure to reserve a table or get one or u will be standing up. My friends and I bout shots and hookah and we wanted to sit down and order more. The bartender told us that the other tables are reserved and/or that we have to buy a bottle. There were other people sitting at "said tables" and ordered no bottles just hookah and drinks. Ok so khari (bartender) gives the best customer service !!! he is a super people person and very attentive and easy going. He greets you right from the door and immediately turns on the charm. This place is one of the great hookah spots around DC. There is ample space at the bar as well as tables upstairs so you don't feel like you're crammed into a sardine can. They're happy hour is AMAZING $15 hookah $5 drinks and shots (certain drinks make sure to ask) and a really good bar food menu. I had the Right Spot Mussels and they were delicious slightly sweet flavoring but also the right amount of salt. The mussels come with a baguette and french fries so you can pick whatever you like. The music the other night was great the DJ really felt out the crowd and played to what we all liked. Before you know it karaoke practically broke out. Overall this place has everything you need. I guess I didn't read the reviews enough - I would say this is more of a bar than a French restaurant. Not a bad thing but just wasn't what I was expecting. The restaurant is downstairs and there is a hookah lounge upstairs (which is loud on the weekends). The menu is pretty big - has a section for mussels, sandwiches, pasta, Ethiopian food, and I forget what else. We ended up ordering a couple of apps - a plate of fries and chicken wings. Both were ok (fries better than wings), but not amazing or anything. I don't think I would come back - rather get a burger/wings/fries elsewhere and same with Ethiopian. But I'm sure this is a great stop if you are planning to head upstairs or are upstairs and get hungry. One more thing - a service charge was put on the bill. I'm winding on considering the Right Spot as a enjoyable hang out venue. It's the same energy everytime I go. They seat you if they have the space then try to push you out when you don't buy bottles. For Me: The Right spot is a secondary spot. A place to go after brunch to get hookah, a few shots and some drinks while you're out after fellowshiping at a restutant. It's a place I go that I know I can't be cheap but GAWDAMN. It's in bad form to go to places and expect that you will be welcomed for hours on end and not spend an appropriate amount of money, so it's really annoying and bothersome to go to a place spend what you think is decent ( two hookahs at $50+ , food, and 2-3 rounds of drinks for 5 ppl, With prices that are higher since the pandemic) The Right Spot tries to operate as a club/ lounge venue where bottle service means your bill ends up in the deep hundreds. They'te doing this while advertising themselves as a restaurant/ bar... Without giving you a menu that indicates that, withour a website that indicates that, and serving staff that only tells you that a hour into your seating that they have "bottle requirements" Note: the servers are never rude, just matter of fact. I want to strongly assert that the servers are never rude, but seem to have to assert these "rules" It all amounts to a rushed experienced that is constantly interrupted by the staff basically telling to to get out of you're not spending lots of money. The fiasco: they wrongly charged us and showed utter contempt during the refund process--took their sweet ass time, missed our Uber. Still I'll give a full review because I'm a decent human being. Atmosphere: lively street. Came in on a Thursday night- upstairs was dead. Has the typical hooka lounge booths and spacious bar seating. They had multiple screens, showed some hip hop and heavy Caribbean music videos. Food/hooka: I ordered a peach hooka ($20) and shrimp quesadilla ($12). Hooka was basic, I was disappointed to see they use the CHEAP and health hazardous instant charcoals. I liked the quesadilla! Ample shrimp. BAD SERVICE: Everything got derailed when we saw our cards were charged improperly. Friend and I went kindly brought it to their attention. You'd think we'd asked them to cut us a fucking flight to Rome. First, we had to explain the discrepancy with kid gloves- though the receipt was self explanatory! It took 20 minutes of us standing as they grumbled and asked the ppl around for loose cash so we can be reimbursed. There was no apology- just looks of contempt. I was so shocked that I asked for my TIP and they refused!! After that shitty treatment I couldn't get reimbursed. So disrespectful. read more

Came to Right Spot on a Saturday around 5 after seeing a flyer advertising a day party. Although it was much more chill than an actual day party (everyone was sitting, no real dancing), I had such a great time there. My group was seated upstairs which had a bar, some lounge style seating, and a bunch of tvs showing football (win!). There was a DJ there who was spinning some old school and some new school, and had my group singing and dancing the entire time. Best part of this spot was that it is super affordable. The hookah was around $25 and pulled well the entire time we were there. The drinks were also inexpensive and I believe there were $5 shots of anything (yes anything!). Overall this was one of my favorite new spots on my latest dc trip and I will definitely visit again when I'm in DC next time. read more

I'm about a few more visits away from calling myself a regular at this place. It's great for happy hour. It's never packed during this time. The prices are good. The food is fine too. The best part is the music, really. They play good music and have the videos playing. This is a simple thing BUUUT I never get to see videos anymore so it's always entertaining. There's typically only a couple people on staff during happy hour but I've never waited long. The bartender Khari seems to be running the place himself. He's super personable and makes sure you have what you need. I'd say definitely give it a go for happy hour. I cannnnn't vouch for it for nightlife. I can say that I went there after my wedding and had a table and they kicked us off the table for some promoter guy and his friends which is super lame to me. I came here with a friend for happy hour. It was on a Sunday at about 6pm. The place was pretty full. We went to the upper deck and the DJ already had the energy high. The game was on several TV's and my friend and I stood at the bar for a while, but a table opened after about 30 minutes. All of the staff members, that I encountered, were pretty friendly. The place was clean and we felt that we were attended to adequately. We ordered Hennessy shots which were $5 apiece at the time and got a hookah. We were chilling and watching the game, but other people there were partying pretty hard on the other side, where there were tables and couches. Other folks were ordering food, which looked good as well. I recommend this place for a Sunday turn-up. However, I also recommend it for game-time happy hours. It is comfortable for both moods. The downfall to this spot is parking, so an Uber/Lyft may be ideal to avoid parking fees and far walks. Also, I believe that some times have a cover charge. Went here for drinks and hookah after my birthday brunch, had a good time up until the end. I ordered 2 rounds of shots, paid for them both and kept the customer copy of the receipt. The waitresses attempted to charge me a 3rd time stating that I didn't pay for the 2nd set of shots. I showed them that I had my copies of the receipts but they didn't care. They were rude and aggressive and insisted upon over charging me. This is not the first instance I've heard of people being overcharged for things they did not purchase. Came here on a date and literally came right before the crowd grew. Giving it 3 stars because the bathroom was not cleaned as it should be and they ran out of toilet paper having us use napkins. This is definitely a spot for people to hang out, smoke hookah and have a drink or two. They was playing today's hits but mostly, Im assuming because they just opened, pop smoke. It wasn't until almost an hour later they changed up the music. I ordered a Long Island, mint and mango hookah then a Cesar salad with salmon. The drink I felt like it was too much ice in it I even ordered tequila with pineapple and it was too much ice in it. My food was okay could of been more dressing but I loved the salmon. My friend recommended this spot and I had high hopes. When I came in I asked I asked the bartender what the happy hour prices were. The bartender, Hiwot, told me that it would be $5 shots of Hennessy and $7 rail drinks. I was more than happy with this and even ordered chicken wings off the happy hour menu for $6, I also ordered 3 rail beverages and a hookah for $15 but when I got my check it was $95 including gratuity. I don't mind gratuity at all, however my bill was by no means $95. I had to speak to managers and argue my check down to $75. To add insult to injury my drinks were weak and service was slow. I had high hopes about this place but in the end feel robbed. I will never visit this establishment again and will advice others against this venue. read more
