Honestly, better than most of the food I've had in Paris! I went on a Thursday night, and it was not busy at all. We each got fish as a main and we shared an escargot. The escargot is probably the best I've had. I loved how buttery it was and the snail itself was so fresh and tender. I'd definitely repurchase this on another visit. I even dipped some of the baguette bread (which had the best crunch!) into the butter and it was perfection! For our mains, we got the sea bass with lentils and the Alaskan halibut, and both were prepared perfectly down to taste and texture. Everything about its execution felt very intentional. The halibut was baked with the right amount of breading and the sea bass was pan seared to give that nice crispy texture to the skin. Always wanted to try this french restaurant and finally was invited by my family for donner. Very chill spot and perfect for a intimate date night. Overall this restaurant layout was pretty cool and the night we went the noise level was moderate but I can see that if its packed this place could get loud. They offer outdoor seating as well that looked cozy. Our waiter and his team was very attentive and always made sure we had what we needed so service was exceptional. Food is always an area that I leave up to everyone's own taste. We decided to try this French restaurant in Pasadena but it sadly didn't live up to our expectations. The food atmosphere was lovely and they had a nice patio on the side. Some highlights of the dinner were the escargot, duck pate (super gamey if you like it like that), and the green peppercorns on the entrecôte. The filet mignon was also super tender and paired nicely with the blue cheese. Other things we got were the steak tartare, short rib ravioli, duck confit pasta, and the mussels. Although yummy, everything felt like it lacked salt. We were excited for the duck confit pasta, but it was lacking a rich creamy sauce like that on the short rib ravioli. The mussels are cooked in a soup that was milkier than other places, which although yummy, threw us off a bit. Overall, it has a nice ambiance and vibes, but the food we had was very subpar. Considering the prices of the appetizers, tapas, and entrees, the portion sizes were very small (I am aware that French cuisine has smaller portions already). Our dinner seating was at 7pm and one of the specials was an octopus salad. We were happy to order and try it but the server came back later and said they were sold out. For a typical dinner time, it's off they ran out of their special. Appetizers: Half dozen oysters - tasted fresh. The ones I ate were shucked completely Hiramasa sashimi - best app of the night. The food that we tried: -Escargots de Bourgogne 24 French farmed snails in shells, garlic, butter, parsley. This was my husband's first time trying escargot and he loved it ! The snails were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Entrecôte Au Poivre 62 10 oz ribeye steak, peppercorn sauce, french fries. Juicy steak!! We got it medium, well seasoned, tender. The authenticity here is off the charts. My hubs and I came here for date night on a Saturday. I recommend having a reservation....it's busy. Wow. We came on a Sunday at 5:30 PM with a reservation, though the restaurant was still pretty empty at that time. The crowd started picking up around 7 PM as we were leaving. The staff was very attentive and quick to clear our plates as soon as we were done with each dish. They offer a nice selection of French wines and alcoholic drinks, along with daily specials that aren't listed on the menu, which the server will explain at the beginning of your meal. We ordered the escargot, salade d'endives au roquefort, duck confit (tapa), rack of lamb (tapa), and filet mignon au bleu d'Auvergne. I'd recommend the escargot, rack of lamb, and filet mignon in particular. The lavender sauce on the lamb was especially delicious, and our medium rare filet mignon was perfectly tender. For dessert, we tried the Îles Flottantes AKA floating island. I'd heard about it on cooking shows and was excited to finally try it. It was a unique treat that's light, not overly sweet, and a good portion to share between two people. As for parking, there's a structure just around the corner as well as available street parking. However I couldn't rate this very high because the mussels weren't the best quality with the large amount of sand in quite a few of them. + Duck main: My boyfriend had this one but I tried a few pieces and this was my least favorite in terms of the duck flavor. My first and last time ever getting food from this establishment ! I ordered STEAK TARTARE which almost immediately made me sick... the sickness lasted for 5 days. My guess is the meat was spoiled, and they covered it with lots of oil and vinegar to mask the its condition. I consider the food I received dangerous and deplorable. I am a senior citizen and much more susceptible to health consequences from bacteria of any kind. Besides that, my assistant who went to pick up the food says that the staff was oblivious to his presence while simply trying to pick up the order. I did call to complain. Decided to stop by last weekend for the first time as I was in the area and had been craving escargot. Stumbled upon this quaint little Parisian restaurant in old town Pasadena. Parking is typical for the area so it took a few minutes to snag a meter nearby. After an hour wait, (didn't have reservations) we were seated on the patio area that fits maybe 3-4 tables. There was a great wine selection, we decided to go with the Malbec to pair with our meal. The escargot we ordered was flavorful , bursting with garlic herbs and dipped in a home made baguette. The star of the evening was the French onion soup. It was savory with sweet caramelized onions and a perfect texture of rich melted cheese blanketing the top. I would definitely recommend ordering this. The mussels on the other hand were bland sadly. They seemed watered down and the wine sauce was a thick white color which tasted diluted. The owner was chatting up a table full of regulars for over an over and never once turned his attention to any of the other tables which I thought was a bit strange. Street parking was easy to find. Very nice ambiance inside with dim lighting and intimate. I got a glass of Cab Franc with my meal. It was a little minerally for my taste but paired well with our food. For apps, we got coq au vin and french onion soup. The soup was so good and flavorful with nice crisp cheese on top and packed with onions. The coq au vin was juicy and the meat fell off the bone easily. I couldn't decide between mussels and duck parpadelle for my entree but the server recommended the duck since my husband was already get steak frites and the mussels came with fries too. First visit to celebrate my wife's birthday. Located in Old Town Pasadena, the tree-lined street and interior décor truly make you feel like you're in a small French bistro. Inside and patio dining available. On street metered parking, and their website says that there's a parking garage behind the restaurant off Delacey Avenue. SERVICE: I was a little disappointed with the service from our main waiter. Initially, we felt rushed when we first arrived, and then there wasn't much interaction once we placed our orders or throughout dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine, and other than the initial opening of the bottle and first pour, there was no follow up. The assistant waiter was a little more attentive and was at least personable. DRINKS: Wine, wine cocktails, and beer only. We started with a glass of Kir Royale ($18) and a bottle of 2021 Chateauneuf-du-Pape ($110, about 200% markup), which paired perfectly with our entrées. There were other wines that were far less expensive, but we splurged for this occasion. Should you choose to bring in your own bottle, the corkage fee is currently $30/bottle. FOOD: We started with two appetizers, a Duck Mousse ($25) that was on special, and Escargots de Bourgogne ($22). Both were served with toasted baguette, which was a little too toasted IMO. The mousse and escargots were excellent. For our entrées we tried the Poulet Rôti Bio au Thym ($35), a roasted organic half chicken, the Entrecôte au Poivre ($52), a 10 oz ribeye steak with French fries, and another special, the Rack of Lamb ($61) served with mashed potatoes and veggies. The chicken was excellent, the steak was good, and I thought that the lamb was nice, but my wife was not a fan. We also ordered the Profiteroles ($18) for dessert and were charged for that. I'm not complaining, just pointing out so there's no surprises to others...many places provide a birthday dessert gratis, Entre Nous did not. This is yelp and everyone is entitled to their personal opinion on their dining experiences. -My father personally called and spoke to someone at the restaurant who told him if he was to bring an outside cake, the cake cutting fee only applies if staff cuts the cake so it was to our surprise that we were told even cutting the cake ourselves would still result in a fee. Your menu states at the bottom "$20 cake cutting fee applied per cake" it doesn't say $20 fee for bringing an outside cake." So of course we asked multiple times because we were confused. It is a lie that you said the conversation never happened and a clear example of gaslighting a customer. By the way it's condescending to say "it's not an educated request" and displays an attitude of superiority -You don't welcome honest feedback you welcome feedback that you deem appropriate. May Wed 5:45pm I had passed by this restaurant many times and had been drawn to the cute outdoor decor. I remember not having had the best experience with French food so I was hesitant, yet I was extremely intrigued. Years after moving away from Pasadena I finally came back to Entre Nous. We had a reservation at 5:45pm but it took me nearly two hours to drive in from Torrance. Fortunately, maximum street parking in Pasadena was 2 hours and due to my tardiness, I was able to park until past 8pm, when parking became free. We had a bottle of Pinot Gris, which was nice. And the bread and butter- with some salt it was perfect. We also had the mushroom, which was perfect. I enjoyed the halibut filet and another enjoyed the filet mignon. The saffron rice wasn't what I was expecting. By the end of that the three of us were stuffed! The decor inside is moody and marvelous. I loved the large prints and the candles.
