Granville is not just great food, it's a wonderful experience. We showed up at 11:20 and they don't open until 11:30. They got a lot of good stuff on the menu. We started with the artisan bread as an appetizer, and then the sweet potato fries. The bread and butter was really good. The sweet potato fries were a solid choice almost got Brussels sprouts may do that next time. I was really considering the Wagyu beef stroganoff as well. . A co-worker had the spicy pasta and loved it. We were there celebrating a special occasion, a retirement celebration. . I ordered the rainbow trout top 5 I have had in a really lon time. They brought out a card for her retirement, which surprised her, and they provided a dessert too. The food, the service, and the experience were all five star. If you want to go somewhere for a special meal or to celebrate, Granville is a great choice. I definitely plan to come back. I picked my meal from looking at the Yelp pictures, not the menu. It was nice to get out of the summer heat into an air conditioned restaurant. I wasn't expecting a salty drink. I had to wash it down with iced water. My friend enjoyed her agave vanilla cream soda. She gladly accepted a refill. The grilled mushrooms were nicely seasoned. We enjoyed the variety: oyster and trumpet mushrooms. The farmhouse beets were served with arugula, feta, candied pecans, and a lemon vinaigrette. These were nice starters. I ordered the poke bowl. The portion size was perfect for lunch. It contained tuna, soba noodles at the base, small cubes of mango & avocado, toasted coconut, red onion, basil, and sesame seeds. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The pasta alla vodka was slightly spicy. It consisted of "mezze maniche" or large tubular pasta, pungent pecorino cream, tomato, garlic, and shallots. It was topped with grated Parmesan cheese. This was a heavier entree. Had dinner here Sunday night. My friend wanted to sit on the rooftop so we sat at the bar upstairs. The open air concept was so cute. I had a delicious bloody mary and a beer. My friend had a cucumber martini and a glass of wine. We both had the Pork Chop dinner (no apple sauce), and it was so good. Pork, the other white meat. I think reservations are definitely recommended. We arrived yesterday evening at 6 p.m. after watching the new Spider-Man movie at the Landmark movie theater in Pasadena at 3 p.m. and it was an hour wait. The rooftop patio seating was closed last night. Lesson learned: even if reservations aren't easily made online, it's worth a phone call ahead of time to try to make one. Beautiful inside with two separate downstairs areas and one upstairs. Don't approve of the large TVs in the bar area but the sound was off at least. Once we were seated (and by the way, the hostesses were super friendly and hospitable), Joe was our helpful server. We ordered a Last Word and a Negroni with brussel sprouts to start with. The drinks were ok, the brussel sprouts were super tasty and well charred. Next we ordered the pork chop and chicken skillet. I wanted to order the peri peri chicken but they were out of it. So the atmosphere and aesthetics were there. Service was SLOW. It took forever to get the artisan bread and butter, that why I gave it a three. Did not care for the duck butter but my sister did like it. The Iced Carmel Latte was a great price for Happy Hour and was AMAZING. Loved the village burger, and the pasta but my sister said it was okay she said she tasted some type of animal fat it may have been cooked with and I said maybe the duck butter. We sat at the bar it was nice I just don't like how somebody was literally standing over me why I was trying to leave so they can take our seats but I like how the waiter told them other people are waiting. Happy Hour Only! Prior to dinner in Pasadena, we popped in for some happy hour. At this time there are select days at this location where there is all day happy hour-- I believe Monday- Wednesday. Other weekdays its select hours of happy hour that starts at three. Happy hour consist of select beers, wine, and cocktails. With beer starting at $6.50 and cocktails going up to 13 dollars. Plus, there is a wide range of food items to compliment your drinks. The ambiance at this location is particularly nice. I think this is one of my favorite locations. On the first floor that is a large bar, plus there is a roof top patio and seating on three different floors. Note, happy hour is only served at the first flow bar unfortunately. The service is always great at this location. The bartender was very attentive during our visit. In front of the restaurant there is street parking that gets busy at night. Prior to 6pm, some parking in front is limited to one hour so read the signs carefully. Also, the parking in front is metered so pay the pay the meter. My first time at Granville and I had a great time here!! We came to sit at the rooftop bar, but we decided to sit downstairs since it was packed upstairs and not so much of a vibe. I tried a lemon drop and prosecco and it was made to perfection. The bartender Juan was incredible!!! Good sense of humor and down to earth. I recommend him if you have him. This time added a few more items to the menu so I wanted to share my thoughts on the food especially cause I didn't see these items on the menu so I figured I try something new. Been wanting to check out the rooftop area so we came here for happy hour. Once we sat down, we were told the happy hour menu is only served on the first floor in the bar. We had sweet potato fries, thick cut French fries, basic cheeseburger, village burger and hefeweizen from a local brewery. This is really a 3.5. Great spot for a nice lunch or dinner! I've been to a few locations and the ambiance at this location is really lovely, especially on the rooftop. The food is decent, maybe a little overpriced for what it is and given all of the fast casual places around here, but it would be good for a business or nicer lunch on a weekday or a date night. My favorite is the Santa Barbara chicken sandwich. The service is friendly and professional, but is pretty slow. I've probably been here 25+ times over the years and always had to wait at every stage of the process. Last time I went, we waited about 10 minutes just for someone to approach us and offer us water. One of them suggested Granville, and it's definitely a spot you can't miss--it's on a corner with plenty of street parking, plus a lot behind the restaurant. I wasn't drinking alcohol but ordered a mocktail called Elixir (granny smith apple, cucumber, thyme and coriander shrub, lemon juice). It was not only beautifully presented but also delicious! The vibe inside is amazing. Even though it was packed, it wasn't overly loud, so we could easily chat at our table. Our server, Jose S., was fantastic--helpful with recommendations, attentive without being rushed, and made small talk that felt genuine. For my meal, I ordered the Bacon and Blue Burger: wagyu beef, sustainable cane duroc bacon, Point Reyes aged blue cheese, port wine reduction, horseradish aioli, caramelized onions, mushrooms, arugula, on a brioche bun, served with house potato chips. BEWARE of shredded metal sponge pieces in the pasta! We came in today for Dine LA and ordered the Pasta alla Vodka. Near the end of the meal, I felt something hard in my mouth. When I took it out, it appeared to be a sharp piece of shredded metal, like the kind that comes from a metal scrubber used to clean skillets. This was extremely concerning and could have caused a serious injury if swallowed. The manager came out, apologized, and told us the pasta would be removed from the bill. However, when the bill arrived, the pasta was still charged. When we asked the waiter why it had not been removed, we were told that we had to pay for it first and that the manager would refund the pasta afterward. What kind of system is that? We reluctantly agreed and paid the bill, trusting that the refund would be processed. Of course, no refund has been issued. Finding a piece of metal in my food was already a horrible experience, but the way the situation was handled made it even worse. Very disappointing customer service, especially after we were specifically told we would not be charged for the dish. I really wish I had taken a photo of the metal shard. read more

We ordered appetizers and drinks , chatted a bit, then ordered dinner. The food came out together, not great timing but luckily there was room on the table. My black and blue burger was outstanding. The bacon, wish I had a pound of it. The flavor was like no other. I ordered my burger well and it was a bit undercooked for my taste but I didn't bother sending it back. He was polite, knowledgeable about the entire menu, and did his due diligence in accommodating my noted food allergy. We ordered: - the trio of tacos - peri peri half chicken - ahi tuna & noodles - branzino - flourless chocolate cake - oasis mocktail Tacos were fantastic! I recall my mother really digging the shrimp taco, while my brother loved the chicken taco. The big plate of chicken was a huge hit in my family's table. Apart from the half chicken itself, there was an abundance of mashed potatoes and broccolini. My brother devoured his ahi tuna steak and noodles, I guess that's the plate I'll have to try for myself for future visits. I myself, enjoyed the branzino plate - but for the price tag, I would have liked a slightly bigger portion of beets and perhaps a small salad to complement my fish. Still an overall fantastic dish, I was the first to clear my plate. If you're driving or cutting back on alcohol, they have a small mocktail menu. I've been curious about this place for awhile; their DineLA lunch menu finally brought me in. I don't come to the Lake Ave district all that often because parking is difficult, more so than Old Town I think. I quickly discovered Granville is a very popular place. It's located on the corner of Lake and Del Mar. Unlike some of the businesses on the east side of Lake that have entrances on Lake as well as from the rear parking lot, Granville only has a Lake Ave entrance. There are 5 Granville locations in LA. Some take reservations; Pasadena does not. The restaurant has 3 levels. Ground level has 2 dining rooms, one with a bar and communal table. There's a sidewalk dining area on Del Mar and 3 outdoor tables on Lake. The mezzanine has a dining nook that wasn't open when I was there, plus the restrooms and, I think, private dining room(s). The rooftop is a dining space and has its own bar. The DineLA menu included 3-courses and a beverage (non-alcoholic), with all items off the regular menu (and smaller portion sizes). My berry lemonade was quite nice. The Uptown Mac and Cheese was made uptown with the addition of chicken, peas and asparagus. Tasty with some crispy edges. The Poke Bowl was good, although the tuna was not seasoned with soy sauce or sesame oil or anything. There were soba noodles, mango, avocado and other ingredients, but many were overpowered by cilantro, an omnipotent herb. They were out of the cherry almond chip gelato I wanted, so I had the flourless chocolate cake, which came with vanilla cream and port cherries. It was fine. We stopped by for a drink on the rooftop bar area but apparently it was closed and downstairs was already last call. We stoped in around 8:40 on a Thursday night. I guess they close early. Not only us, there were three others that walked in as well. We did manage to get some drinks and a snack. But honestly we felt rushed throughout the whole experience. About 15 minutes after we sat, there was a group of about 8 that also walked in and they were also notify about last call. I think some got drinks while a few others that walked in afterwards weren't allowed. They said the same things we did regarding the hours. There are no reservations so the wait can be long so time it wisely or look for seating in the bar area. I will say the dine la menu was awesome! Literally in times when everything is $$$ it was a great deal for good eats! I tried: - Uptown mac and cheese which was soo yummy and filling! It's similar to the one I make at home and was a real comfort food. Loved the veggies added. - Bacon & blue burger was really delicious! It's my first time at Granville but it's a nice spot for date night or to hang out with friends. This location in Pasadena has a large shared parking lot in the back which is free for the first 90 minutes and is also free after 7 pm Mon to Sat. I assume it's free all day on Sunday. Unfortunately they don't take reservations. It's walk in only, so you may have to wait during busy times. I came Saturday night around 6 pm with a party of 4 and the wait was quoted at ~1 hour. Luckily the wait was a bit shorter and we got a text that our table was ready after 40 minutes. They have a good drink selection, including some non alcoholic options as well. I ordered the Elixir mocktail ($12) as the combination of incredients sounded interesting, but it was more sour than I expected and didn't have as much of an apple taste as I was expecting based on the description. It was still good though. I personally found the food portions to be on the small side. We ordered fries to share for the table, and while it was a good appy to munch on, split among 4 people it wasn't much. For my main, I got the Village burger ($19) with tomato bisque on the side (+$5). Again, the burger was on the small side, and I personally found it a bit bland as well. The tomato bisque was amazing though, and hands down was my favorite part of the meal. My other friends enjoyed their food as well. One friend ordered the spicy pasta with grilled chicken ($22 + $6 for chicken), which was probably the item with the biggest portion at the table. It was surprisingly spicy but had really good flavor, so he really enjoyed it. The other two ordered the pork chops and a spring salad and said their food was solid. We came here for a baby shower and reserved the mezzanine level. It's minimum of 12 people so if you have lesser you still have to pay for 12 so fyi. But the table and chairs looks like it can accommodate up to 25 people. We had a prefix menu where we were able to select ahead of time. We selected the Granville salad, Angel hair pasta, trout, steak, and it came with a brownie dessert. The food was really good, it has mashed potatoes side, broccolini, and roasted carrots. We stopped by Granville on our way to an author meet-and-greet at Vroman's Bookstore up the street, and it did not disappoint. We were seated quickly on the roof, right by the fire as the sun set, which created a warm and relaxed atmosphere perfect for a memorable visit. Sammy, was our server she had the best recommendations and delivered attentive, friendly service that made the experience extra special. We started with cocktails, all fantastic, with the White Lady and Gran Sour standing out as favorites among the group. For starters, the Brussel Sprouts, grilled cheese dippers, and the bread with whipped duck fat butter were all delicious, the bread and butter being especially indulgent. For entrees, the Stroganoff was amazing--comforting and perfectly seasoned, and served in a cute Dutch oven. The pork chop with mango chutney was also outstanding, pairing well with Cajun spices. I'm already planning a return visit to try the miso brown butter chicken and to explore the dessert menu. Overall, Granville offered a superb combination of superb service, strong cocktails, and standout dishes, all enjoyed in a stunning rooftop setting.
