I don't have anything to compare to. Needed demolition and abatement for a flooded sewage pipe leak. ERI was recommended. Spoke to Matt and texted and emailed. They scheduled on a Saturday, which was wonderful for me since i didn't have to take a day off. They were within the window time of showing up. Two men. Later, a truck showed up to haul away. Very responsive and reliable. They provided a barrier and tore down to the frame, put a fan to " forgot the technical word" on for 24 hours, so in my case, 48 hours before they came to pick up on Monday. Our remediation contractor chose them to remove some floor tile that had tested positive for lead. They got to work promptly and everything seemed to go smoothly. However, within two weeks of completing the paperwork they began sending me messages saying the bills were overdue and asking me to pay. I was flabbergasted as the bills were supposed to sent to our insurance. They persisted in pestering me even though their accounts receivable person couldn't even tell me when they had submitted their bill. The insurance issued them a check quite promptly, in my opinion, but they ruffled my feathers to the point that I would not recommend them to a homeowner. read more

We had a leak in our roof which caused black mold and asbestos. Unfortunately our Insurance company paid them before they started the job, $3,000. Bret the project manager told us it would be 3 days of demolition and running their fan 24/7 to get rid of the asbestos. During that time we are still living in our house and not allowed to use the heater. So we prepared ourselves for 3 days of being cold. Day 3 comes and a tester comes out to test the air to make sure it is clear of asbestos. He told us Bret should get back to us on day 4. Day 4 comes and we Email and call Bret and got his VM asking for status update. Nothing. Meanwhile, no heater in our house and we are cold all the time as our house tends to keep in the 50s range. We are coping with heating pads and blankets. Day 5 we call Bret and no response. Fan still running 24/7 and freezing. I contacted my insurance representative who referred us to ERI from the beginning and he told us that Bret is not responding to him. We told him what was going on and he informed us that he is removing ERI from their vendor referral list. Still day 5 someone from ERI not Bret contacts us saying they want their equipment back. Ummm is the asbestos gone or what??! Response "oh yeah it's gone". I'm glad my insurance company will no longer use ERI as I've read other reviews, they don't deserve the business. read more

I have lived in this house since l983 and it was built in l967. I could not figure out why the floors got dirty every time I had cleaned. The minute I turned on the air or the heat, the floor developed a thin film of white dust. I had a friend go under the house and he told me the ducts needed replacing. I had Service Champion come out and take a look. They told me i had asbestos in the ducts and on the vents. They told me they would have a company come and do the work. They were right on time and were super nice. ERI is fantastic. They were fast, efficient and fantastic. They put up a little tent in our dressing room, ran a big huge hose out our bedroom sliding door to get fresh air and went to work. I had expected them to take most of the day, but they were done by noon. I have the usual 2 bath/3bedroom house. About 8 vents. They were so quiet and did a little knocking, but not much. They even explained to me how they would do it, which was not part of their job, I am sure. I just thought the whole thing, which I thought would be very stressful was extremely seamless and easy. We suffered a fire on Father's Day. When we finally were able to get work started, we were lucky enough to have been referred to ERI from Fire and Water Damage Recovery. Jose has been great to work with. He's been super helpful with advice and guidance. He and his crew completed the work quickly and skillfully. We will be able to sleep better (after we finally get to move back home) knowing that ERI handled the removal of dangerous materials from our house. Matthew Bane was my first contact with ERI regarding ceiling water damage, He was professional, responsive, and very aware I had a horrific experience with another abatement company who improperly abated and destroyed my home/property. Matt assured me the experience I had would *NOT* happen with ERI. Indeed, his words became fact. The ERI staff was not only professional, they were always on time, excellent communication, they diligently followed EPA PROTOCOL, and were completely transparent with the entire process from start to finish. The secure encapsulated work area was a serious piece of art with 2 viewing windows where you could see everything they were doing, warning signs, and air tight zippered doors, and a separate chamber to change, again tightly sealed. Dariel and Kevin did the work most expediently and were very polite. There was no dust or debris left anywhere inside from the approx. 5x7 or 8ft hole in the ceiling to the attic. Definitely nothing outside that chamber leading to the foyer, I watched part of the work and cleanup, spotless. The experience I had with ERI was bar none the best. The company did the job of asbestos abatement and was communicative and helpful. The concerns are, most everything in the house had to be packed and moved out, even the refrigerator and piano. Pack out was not as we expected but pretty haphazard/not careful with breakables/very limited labeling of boxes. Unexpected items discarded. After work was done, told they would not move the piano back into the house even though they moved it out. We were not told we would have to hire a piano mover to move it back into the house. The best way to put it is that the job they do is as bad as Steve (project manager) is polite and responsive, literally two ends of the spectrum. But here's the details. Our condo roof started leaking during storms in January. By the time the leak was fixed there was mold/mildew underneath the popcorn asbestos so it had to go. Our HOA manager hired ERI to remove the asbestos from our hallway and closets where the leaks were. Steve was quick to answer calls, and his answers to my questions were always yes. You want this curtain removed by your washer? Sure! Will things be left clean? Totally! Then the job started.... We had to leave while the work was done over several days. We felt confident, thanks to Steve, that we were in good hands. The workers arrived promptly in well maintained trucks. My first clue something might be off came when I mentioned removing curtains and the guys said it wasn't in their work order, so we had to call Steve to get it ok'd. So it seemed that Steve would say yes to anything and leave to us to complain to get it actually done. When we hit the end of our mini-vacation while the work was done we were called by Brandon asking about coming to pick up the last of their equipment. I asked about him making sure all plastics were removed and disposed of, as Steve assured us it would be. Again it wasn't on the work order. So I told Brandon I'd call Steve. Brandon said fine, he'd remove the plastic. When we arrived home we were shocked to see that asbestos material was left ground into our carpet and the top shelf of our linen closet was covered in asbestos. The shelf from our main closet had been removed and put, nails first, against our living room wall with the closet door leaning on it pushing nails into the wall. Some pieces of plastic were left and Brandon had balled up the tape and tossed 2 of em towards our living room curtains. Not all of the curtain parts had been removed, our handyman took care of that. This whole experience makes me feel like they want to do as little as possible and then make up for it when you bug them. I was literally crying when I called our HOA manager and said he had to come see what he paid for, he was shocked with what he saw. I would not recommend this company to anyone! When we bought our home, one of the first things we wanted to do was remove the popcorn from the ceilings. We interviewed quite a few companies and felt ERI was the most competitively priced with the best service. We were in constant contact and they arrived 5 minutes early for the appointment. Because of the nature of the job, we had to be out of the home for a few hours. When we returned we noticed that each room had their own bag which contained vent covers, screws and ceiling fans. This was something we were not expecting and very pleasantly surprised. It made it very easy to put everything back together once the ceilings were textured and painted. Each item was handled with extreme care and there was not any damage and all screws were included. After they left, there was not a mess in sight and they took all of their plastic sheeting with them. Being it is an older home, there is asbestos in the walls. ERI was called to safely remove the damaged wall. Laurie was the representative that came out initially to evaluate the project. She explained each step of the procedure, and did not leave until we were comfortable with everything that was to be done. She was also easy to reach throughout the process to discuss any additional questions we had. On the day that the work was done, the workers arrived promptly on schedule and completed the project neatly and in a timely manner. We cannot recommend her and ERI highly enough. I had someone from this company come to my house to give me a quote to remove asbestos from my HVAC system. He basically told me there was asbestos in my duct work, the heater boots, and in the furnace pipe. This scared me to death and I immediately stopped using our heater because we have a 9 month old at home. I had visions of him breathing toxic air. The rep from this company gave me a preliminary estimate of $3-5k and he said he would follow up with a more accurate estimate by the end of the next day once he could do some calculations. When I told him the price he quoted me was quite a bit more than what our HVAC company said it would be, this company's rep got defensive. And then he looked around my house and said if I was planning on doing any remodeling I should know that there is probably asbestos in my walls and lead paint. Probably in an effort to upswell me. It's been a few weeks and I never received the estimate from this company. I did however receive estimates from two other abatement companies both estimating the cost of the work to be around $1200. Both companies said we only have asbestos in the boots and a little bit in 1 pipe. I definitely feel like Environmental Remedies was trying to take advantage of my husband and I. This company was a subcontractor for a larger project where I needed to have some asbestos removed from my home. The technicians showed up on time and completed the job sooner than I had expected. They explained everything they needed to do, according to the work order, and how they were going to do it. Everything listed on the work order was accurate. They left our place trashed! Asbestos everywhere. Nothing had been vacuumed or cleaned whatsoever. There were wads of tape thrown all around the house and ground into the carpet. Holes cut in our ceiling. Nails and screws all over the floor. We had them come out to deal with mold in asbestos in our closet. Three days they were in our home and when we returned, I was in tears. My partner did all the communicating with the company. I was the one who came home first and found our house in the shocking state. These people need to be asbestos certified to work with this material. How the hell do you leave asbestos and crap everywhere? How is that safe? Were they not taught that in their certification course? Please, please, please DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I will never let them into my home again. read more

The company did the asbestos abatement we requested and, as we asked, they were careful to save as much of the cabinetry in the kitchen as possible (this was in response to a dishwasher flood). I hired ERI for two different jobs - removing popcorn ceiling and removing asbestos containing ducting. In both cases asbestos containing material was clearly left behind after they supposedly finished the job. They tried to charge me over $1000 extra to come back and finish the job. It seemed very unprofessional to me and when I tried to share these concerns with them over the phone in a reasonable manner, I was rudely talked down to by one of their managers. Meanwhile, the presence of asbestos was preventing us from getting our HVAC system fixed by another company and we ended up going for weeks without heat in the middle of winter.
