We had moisture build up in our crawlspace, with what we thought was mold or spores appearing on the soil (white/off white in color). We were concerned about it, worried about any longterm effects it may create to our home and our health, and so decided to look for a company to remove the white substance build up, treat the the whole area, and apply protective barrier to prevent the moisture. After getting an estimate from another company, we decided to go with Bordi Restoration. The work included: scraping the top soil, spray a disinfectant onto the soil, used a HEPA air scrubber, and then fitted a crawlspace moisture barrier. They just completed the work today. The work was estimated for three days, but they finished in two days instead. Everything was done nicely, with the moisture barrier fitted neatly, really clean install. The workers were friendly and respectful of our property. Communication with Craig (owner) was easy, as he responded quickly to our text messages, explained things very well, his responses being detailed, but also easy to understand. It was also easy to communicate with Donovan, the staff member who handled the scheduling and billing, as he was very easy to work with, and very helpful. The value was very good, as the estimated cost was cheaper than the other company, and the work they did came out very nicely. First, I'd like to say that the service was great! Craig had came out to take a look at our closet which developed surface mold due to moisture and lack of air circulation in the corner and helped us understand if there's other sources of water/moisture/leaks we need to be worried of. We got a quote which was very competitive and reasonable and moved forward to setting a date for the crew to clean and do a deeper assessment. We had accidentally forgotten that we agreed for the work to start on a Thurs instead of Friday, and the office called right away to clarify and sent the team out very quickly after we sent them away. The cleaning crew themselves were great! Shu, the forewoman, was on top of it, communicated the problem and solution in a very straightforward and simple manner. Was very thorough with pictures, instructions, and her assessment. Craig identified that we may need a moisture barrier in the crawlspace to really help decrease the amount of moisture impacting the walls during the rainy season. Another quote for the closet and bathroom clean-up was sent to us, which had not changed in terms of pricing. We knew that the 2nd project would require a new quote later. After 3 days of drying, we contacted Craig to coordinate time for pick up of the equipment. We also received the finalized invoice- the cost ended up being nearly 2x the original quote, which caught us off-guard. Craig explained that the labor hours had to increased from an estimated of 4 hrs to 12 hrs and covered for travel (though we only live about 2.5 mi away from his listed office) and equipment loading time, which surprised us as it was never mentioned or called out. There was already a $100 service/trip charge, so for additional hrs counted for travel felt unreasonable. The crew was on-site for 5 hours max. He did give us a discount which was appreciated, but we felt that the quotes and pricing model were not transparent. This really disappointed us, especially given the quality of service and how easy it was to work with Craig initially. We had a 2nd project to encapsulate the crawlspace which we went with another company whose pricing ended up exactly as estimated, despite taking a 1.5 days more than anticipated. read more

Our building elevator shaft flooded due to the massive storm produced in early February. I quickly had to find a company to help extract the water that was deemed contaminated. Would have given 6 stars if i could. Excellent service. They were prompt in coming and fixing mold, installed additional support for countertops as needed and finished the job well. They also installed a sump pump to prevent future issues instead of only addressing the mold. 4 months after the service we saw that the sump pump was connected to the yard instead of the drain, and contacted them, and they were able to come and fix it immidiately. Bordi restoration was hired to come do a mold remediation job under my crawl space. They recommended we do that, but also take some preventative measures to avoid giving the mold a good environment to grow. They installed a sump pump at the lowest point in the crawl space and a vapor barrier to help reduce the occurrence likelihood substantially. They also remediated the mold before putting down the vapor barrier. I appreciate them completing the job thoroughly, even though one corner of my crawl space had very low clearance/was tight. Bordi Restoration was sent by our contractor for asbestos abatement in our work on our Victorian Era 4-plex. Their work included removal of an asbestos flue from a heating system, no longer in use and probably installed in in the 1930's, and linoleum flooring which also tested positive for asbestos. Additionally, they removed old carpeting and uncovered the original fir flooring. Their work included collecting samples to test for asbestos, an assessment of how large of team would be needed to the work, and then the safe removal of the asbestos products and a thorough clean up of all the materials removed from the four rooms and closet spaces where they worked. We had a toilet leak and flooded our downstairs pantry and garage in the beginning of July. Craig & his team came out on a Saturday (he left his own family party) to come and setup fans and dehumidifiers within 2 hours of our initial phone call. They kept us updated on everything they did. Respectful to our home and kept everything as tidy as could be. They also threw out the carpeting and drywall without using our own trash system. I have no idea what it costs for damages but Craig and his team worked with our insurance agency. They were on our property for about a week to make sure everything was dried up using the newest technology. I have only once needed an asbestos abatement, and that was over 30 years ago on a different house. When a floor installer said we had to get the kitchen floor tested in our 1961 house, my heart sank. That abatement, far in the past, had been an awful experience and very expensive. Pros: -successfully removed mold. -Communication was prompt and responsive -Price was fair -They were able to come out faster than anybody else and do the work They gave me guidance on how to solve the root problem creating the mold Cons: -They ripped off some of the paint on our ceiling (unnecessarily), which was expensive to repaint. -The workers tossed a few of our items, without our permission and without letting us know. EG, our brackets for our shades and curtain rods, so we had to buy new ones. As well as an outlet cover. Not expensive by any means, but wouldn't have been hard to keep these things. -would've been nice if they had a partnership with another company to come put our wall back together. But we were left to do that part on our own, which was another project in itself. read more

It was a mess. Second, I'm the type of person who does his homework. I check contractor licenses with the state, better business bureau, look up pending and past law suits... This company has a spotless reputation and does everything above-board. Third, the surfeit of favorable reviews for Craig Bordi and his crew are spot on. These are true professionals who have perfected their craft and relentlessly pursue excellence in their quality of work and communication/ customer service. - Their containment practices are superb. I am familiar with construction containment systems in hospital settings so I know this is done right. Little details like laying down painter's tape to protect surfaces before using their stronger tape to hold the containment sheeting in place shows they care about the details that matter to their customers. The remediated sites are super clean. Not a speck of mold or debris anywhere. Just look at the many customer photos. Ours looked the same. - The crew chief, Eric, clearly explained everything they would do in simple terms and ran the team with smooth efficiency, right on time. The crew members were friendly, exceedingly polite and completely professional. They worked quickly, steadily, and were very thorough. They didn't blast music, bang the walls excessively or throw stuff around noisily like a typical construction site. I work from home and am on video calls most of the day. I barely noticed the crew remediating the damaged laundry area about 15-feet from my desk. Finally, Craig charges fair prices for exceptional work. What can I say that hasn't already been said by all the other reviewers? I'm not sure, but I'll just let you know that Craig and his team were fantastic. Their communication, punctuality, and most importantly understanding of the situation made dealing with our water damage painfree. Craig personally came on site to view the situation and walked me through what needed to be done. Despite being booked and working multiple projects he assured me he would be out the next day to start working on our issue...AND HE DID. I had been calling all sorts of other places trying to get bids and quotes and most of them were telling us they would get to us in two weeks and sometimes more. With water damage time is of the essence. Once Craig was on site and began working he updated me on anything he was seeing and what they may need to do. Oh no! I accidentally deleted my review (bc it looked like I had posted it twice but it was just a glitch with Yelp's app, alas!) Well, to try to repeat what I had said, Craig and team are awesome. Extremely responsive (via text and calls), reassuring during a very stressful time, and efficient in addressing some moisture intrusion and mold that had occurred due to the heavy winter storms this year. We were able to get on their schedule within 3-4 days of calling and the only holdup was us deciding whether we were ready to go. One of the things I appreciated most is that he tried to help problem solve and troubleshoot the source of the moisture intrusion and did not try to scare me into adding additional services (asbestos testing and abatement as an example) that other remediation companies insisted I needed before they would consider the job. I had a leaky shower valve in my mobile home. The water soaked my wall to wall carpet , got the wall wet and it also went underneath the home. They quickly came out the same day I called to assess the damage and get the work started. I was very pleased with their quick response, their thoroughness, their clear communication and honesty.
