The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. Today's visit is why I'll keep doing business with them.

They were just starting in the area then and it was a whole different experience from when I had them replace my water heater again last month. It was 100% my fault for not feeling well enough to do some checking around for other plumbers. I was quoted only a total price for the water heater and the labor to install. I felt that I had been taken advantage of when the install was complete, but today, having had a reputable plumber come out for another problem and seeing what the reasonable hourly labor charge was, I am certain. Legacy Plumpmg was upfront about how they charged for hourly labor and it was a breath of fresh air. It was my fault for accepting U.S. Plumbing's bid, but I thought that they would be fair since I was a repeat customer. I was wrong and I don't want anyone else to be overcharged. I do not know if it played into the situation or not, but my husband and I are elderly and I doubt these people would want their parents to be charged what we were charged. Before dealing with this company demand to know the breakdown between cost of goods and labor of the proposed service and get some other bids. U.S. Plumbing seemingly bills based on what they can get away with rather actual cost.

He installed the sink and went on his way. The charges were very reasonable for the work. And that's when I became a total idiot... I noticed cracks in the sink's bowl. I called Jayk's. The person asked for a snapshot of the problem. I sent it and (honestly) said I didn't remember if there were crack that large before. A minute later Jayk's sent me a photo of the pre-work sink. Yep... there were the cracks. I apologized profusely and they were cool about it. Apparently the old ugly faucet was all I could notice. So...yeah...I'm a dummy who has become too used to contractors creating as many problems as they fixed. Not Jayk's though - they're great.
