Drywall cuts in garage

------ EDIT ------ The owner of MPS reached out to me and took full responsibility for the actions listed below. They covered the cost of the replacement sink as well as a very large chunk of the drywall repair costs. I will consider using them again in the future because of this. ------ EDIT ------ I recently had my home repiped by Matthew's Plumbing Solutions (MPS). For me, there were some major concerns. I'd like to start with the positives. Jerry, who did the initial estimate, knew what he was doing. Patrick has been a gem anytime we've spoke, and Nick & Norman were professional as can be. I wish Norman was the technician leading the repipe, because what went down was sloppy work at best. We hired MPS to do a PB to PEX conversion. I want to preface with I knew that the drywall would be messed up, and it was expected. I gave Jason and his team full access to the house and left to be out of their way. The result of their work especially in my living room, was astonishing. - Cutting into a structural joist - Cutting into a load bearing stud - Trash everywhere - Pipe pieces and wood chips in attic - Pipes and wood in the crawlspace - Hose bib outside just on the ground - Coke can left up on a shelf (this one is just hilarious to me) - Tore down insulation in the crawlspace (and some other spots), didn't even try to put it back. - Hooked up a sink backwards, causing my kid to burn his hands. - Sink also had a bad crimp, which I fixed. - Lack of plastic - Cut into my baby's closet for no reason - Caused an entire room to be coated in dust, including a piano - TV covered in drywall debris - Shelves coated in it - Didn't close the door or put down any protection in the bathroom, had a drywall and tile dust haze in our upper floor where a baby sleeps. We're still doing laundry and finding dust from this. - Made a giant hole in the tub rather than using a smaller access panel - Carefree drywall cuts, ended up having to drop an entire ceiling - Joking about getting high off fumes in the crawlspace - Couldn't stop hammer drilling for an hour while my baby napped - Broke my utility sink, refused to take responsibility - Sloppy foam and tape work on the garage sink, didn't even secure the water lines to the wall. - Hose bibs have no sealant on them - they're anchored to the brick but were not sealed. - Refrigerator water supply box not secured to the wall - Didn't wear foot protection or put down floor protection - Didn't wear respirators when cutting tile and drywall. Silicosis is not fun. - Didn't even try to sweep up when done - Absurd price to put a bandaid on a leaking drain price. $900 for putting a fernco on? - Aggressive and condescending attitude from Ken when I raised concerns I chose MPS over some of the larger companies because they not only gave me a fair price initially, but I wanted to support a local small business. The callous condescending nature of management at MPS makes me feel like I have no choice but to write this review. They have done nothing to make the damage that they did right, beyond the 6% discount. No apologies, no offer to fix things, just "here's a small discount, go away." I would recommend staying far, far away from MPS for any major jobs. They obviously do not value any kind of customer satisfaction, nor do they take pride in their work.

I contacted Joseph Rose plumbing in Durham, North Carolina about three plumbing problems I was…read morehaving. They scheduled to come by my house at 1 PM on Monday. By about 1:45 they had not arrived. I called the company, but no one answered. I left a phone message. I was called back in a couple of hours and, and the secretary/scheduler informed me that the job they were on was taking longer than expected. She then asked me if they could reschedule for tomorrow. I stated that that was not convenient for me. I finally relented and agreed to meet them on Tuesday. If I recall, the one technician was about 30-45 minutes late. She informed me that she had not been told about fixing the lack of shower hot water or about cleaning the mold out of our faucets but had only been told about cleaning the water heater! She arrived and started to flush the water heater. She then informed me that her new water pump that she needed for that job was defective and kept tripping the circuit breaker. She asked me if she could come back the next day at 8:30 AM! This was early for me in terms of usually sleeping longer, but I agreed in order to get the ordeal finished. She came with a young helper, and they completed the work. Rose appeared to be competent and, furthermore, she communicated well with me which was an appreciated change from her handler/scheduler. She and I talked about the benefit of the whole house water filter. She stated that she would get some information and send a proposal. That never happened. As you can gather, there are two significant problems with Joseph Rose plumbing, according to my experience with them. One is the absence of adequate and efficient communication, and the other is a lack of follow-up on what they say they will do.

I had a Kohler faucet in my shower that really leaked. Ben and Mason came out, figured out the…read moreissue, and suggested I contact Kohler to get the part because it should be under warranty. We did so, but Kohler sent the wrong part (not the part that Ben said we needed), which Ben discovered when he came out the second time to fix the faucet. So, we went back to Kohler, convinced them that Ben knew which part was needed. They apologized and promptly sent it, and Ben (and Mason) came out a third time -- it was the right part, and Ben promptly fixed the shower faucet. Big kudos to Ben, for his expertise, kindness, and patience, and to Mason for being his great helper.

Initially the construction business took priority and we couldn't get anyone to come for a repair. This no longer seems to be as much of an issue. However, we have still seen some challenges such as: some smell of alcohol (Cary Plumbing), some keep adding to the bill unnecessarily (Bizzy Bee), some bill thousands of dollars for a tank water heater worth less than a thousand (Blanton's), and some don't even show up (B & J Plumbing). CK was accurate about when they would be here. They were specific about their ability to address our issue. They confirmed their understanding. They expected nothing upfront to review the issue. While I was initially distracted by a call, they started review of the issue from outside. They were clean, friendly, and professional. Please consider them and post reviews especially if you find contrary to my experience. Plumbing in particular has been so challenging.

Background: I was waiting on another AC company to get back to me on a quote: days. Called them twice to check. Problem is it was hot as hell in the house - up to 88F in stifling humidity. So I called Air Experts late Thurs morning. We scheduled a consult with their "comfort advisors" (sales) for that same afternoon! That was kinda mind blowing by itself. Jackson and Erik got there and we were tearing it up while getting business done - hilarious really. By about 5pm same day, I had a quote and a good price for 2 new units. But then the next shocker. They scheduled the install FOR THE NEXT MORNING. Their installers arrived early next morning, Mark, Roberto, & Tyler. All great guys. By 10:30 I finally had air blasting in the house. I had suffered with failing AC for 18 months since buying this house and they had it down to 70 for their tests. It was... AMAZING. So, without doubt I recommend these guys. Professional, fun, courteous, timely and they honor their word.
