    Drywall cuts in garage

------ EDIT ------ The owner of MPS reached out to me and took full responsibility for the actions listed below. They covered the cost of the replacement sink as well as a very large chunk of the drywall repair costs. I will consider using them again in the future because of this. ------ EDIT ------ I recently had my home repiped by Matthew's Plumbing Solutions (MPS). For me, there were some major concerns. I'd like to start with the positives. Jerry, who did the initial estimate, knew what he was doing. Patrick has been a gem anytime we've spoke, and Nick & Norman were professional as can be. I wish Norman was the technician leading the repipe, because what went down was sloppy work at best. We hired MPS to do a PB to PEX conversion. I want to preface with I knew that the drywall would be messed up, and it was expected. I gave Jason and his team full access to the house and left to be out of their way. The result of their work especially in my living room, was astonishing. - Cutting into a structural joist - Cutting into a load bearing stud - Trash everywhere - Pipe pieces and wood chips in attic - Pipes and wood in the crawlspace - Hose bib outside just on the ground - Coke can left up on a shelf (this one is just hilarious to me) - Tore down insulation in the crawlspace (and some other spots), didn't even try to put it back. - Hooked up a sink backwards, causing my kid to burn his hands. - Sink also had a bad crimp, which I fixed. - Lack of plastic - Cut into my baby's closet for no reason - Caused an entire room to be coated in dust, including a piano - TV covered in drywall debris - Shelves coated in it - Didn't close the door or put down any protection in the bathroom, had a drywall and tile dust haze in our upper floor where a baby sleeps. We're still doing laundry and finding dust from this. - Made a giant hole in the tub rather than using a smaller access panel - Carefree drywall cuts, ended up having to drop an entire ceiling - Joking about getting high off fumes in the crawlspace - Couldn't stop hammer drilling for an hour while my baby napped - Broke my utility sink, refused to take responsibility - Sloppy foam and tape work on the garage sink, didn't even secure the water lines to the wall. - Hose bibs have no sealant on them - they're anchored to the brick but were not sealed. - Refrigerator water supply box not secured to the wall - Didn't wear foot protection or put down floor protection - Didn't wear respirators when cutting tile and drywall. Silicosis is not fun. - Didn't even try to sweep up when done - Absurd price to put a bandaid on a leaking drain price. $900 for putting a fernco on? - Aggressive and condescending attitude from Ken when I raised concerns I chose MPS over some of the larger companies because they not only gave me a fair price initially, but I wanted to support a local small business. The callous condescending nature of management at MPS makes me feel like I have no choice but to write this review. They have done nothing to make the damage that they did right, beyond the 6% discount. No apologies, no offer to fix things, just "here's a small discount, go away." I would recommend staying far, far away from MPS for any major jobs. They obviously do not value any kind of customer satisfaction, nor do they take pride in their work.

They were very timely and even called to keep me updated on when they would be arriving and who would be arriving. He then gave me the estimate (which was very reasonable) and started right away getting everything handled. He fixed everything even with the challenges he ran into along the way!

Installation Dates: June 4-5, 2026 Inspection Date: June 24,…read more2026 Executive Summary This report documents my experience with the installation of a new Carrier HVAC system purchased through Lowe's and installed by ARS. While the HVAC equipment ultimately passed city inspection after additional work was completed, the overall customer experience was marked by repeated concerns involving workmanship, communication, cleanup, code compliance, and trust. This report is intended to provide an accurate chronological record of events. It acknowledges employees who provided professional assistance (Christian: Comfort Specialist & Laura: Main office) while also documenting areas where expectations established during the sales process were not met. Background My mother and I were shopping at Lowes Home Improvement when we were approached regarding a promotional HVAC inspection. We paid approximately $30 for a Lowe's-authorized contractor to evaluate our existing HVAC system. The inspection identified several concerns with our existing equipment, including a noisy blower motor and evidence that a refrigerant sealant product had previously been introduced into the system. Because multiple issues were identified and repair costs were substantial, we elected to purchase an entirely new HVAC system rather than continue repairing the old equipment. During the sales consultation, Comfort Specialist Christian Blanco explained the replacement process and repeatedly emphasized that the installation would include: Replacement of all major HVAC components Installation of new refrigerant lines Removal of the old equipment Removal of installation debris and cleanup of the work area These representations formed the basis of our purchasing decision. Chronological Timeline Initial Installation (June 4-5) During installation, the crew initially prepared to cut and reconnect the existing refrigerant line set to the new outdoor condenser rather than install new refrigerant lines. Because this conflicted with what had been represented during the sales process, I questioned the installers regarding the discrepancy. Following those discussions, Christian Blanco assisted in ensuring that the promised new refrigerant lines were ultimately installed. While I appreciate Christian's efforts to resolve this issue, the fact that the installation initially proceeded in a different manner than what had been sold raised concerns regarding communication between the sales and installation teams. Installation Cleanup One of the most disappointing aspects of this project involved cleanup. As of June 24, nearly three weeks after installation, I continued discovering construction debris throughout the attic. Items found included: Sections of old ductwork Roofing material containing exposed nails Sharp sheet metal remnants Large cardboard packaging from the new equipment Miscellaneous construction debris Some materials were found beneath insulation or in less visible portions of the attic rather than being removed from the home. Because the attic serves as a storage and service area, leaving sharp construction debris behind presents an unnecessary safety concern. Photographs documenting these conditions have been retained. Access to Personal Areas During the installation I observed two situations that raised concerns regarding respect for the homeowner's property. My mother's blood pressure monitor had been removed from its storage case and left open on another table in her bedroom. Additionally, my bedroom door, which had been locked prior to the installation, had been opened during the work, apparently to obtain access to electrical power for an extension cord. Although I cannot determine precisely why these actions occurred, neither situation was discussed with me beforehand nor explained afterward. These incidents diminished my confidence in the overall professionalism of the installation process. Electrical Service Visit Recognizing that the installation would require city inspection, I contacted ARS to request that these items be completed prior to inspection. Despite multiple contacts, I received little response until I informed GoodLeap that the installation would not pass inspection in its current condition. Shortly thereafter, ARS scheduled the electrical work. However, Kevin (Electrician) stated that because of the home's age, the installation was "grandfathered" and that a service light and receptacle were not required. I explained that I understood major permitted work typically requires compliance with current electrical code. Kevin again stated they were not required. Only after I pointed out that the original furnace location already contained a service receptacle did Kevin agree to install one light and one receptacle, describing it as a courtesy. He also stated that he lacked the materials necessary to install additional lighting or receptacles. The city inspector did confirm specifically that a service light and outlet are required.

Upon unscrewing the metal hose, it immediately retracted into the curved faucet -- slid through the tube and caught at the end of the pipe under the sink. I was able to feed it back up through the curved faucet, and could see the end of the metal hose up near the top side but was unable to pinch the edge of the hose and pull it through. I worked at it for a couple of hours -- trying and hoping that I could fix it -- but finally threw in the towel. Professional help was needed. Melvin answered my phone call at 8:30 am while on his way to an already scheduled service call. Hearing that we had guests who had just arrived the night before, he agreed to try and make it by our house that afternoon. Melvin was able to come by that afternoon, reconnect the water line, identify the part number of the faucet head, connect with the company's customer service department to determine the replacement part. Melvin is knowledgeable, patient, fair and kind. He goes the extra mile in providing plumbing service. Unbeatable!
