Since a review has not been posted for Envision (Boulder CO) since Dec 2024, thought now might be a good time - in light of my recent experience - to revisit the reviews to learn if anything has changed...especially when it came to the atmosphere...and how patients are treated upon arrival, during exam/adjustments, and through post-visit follow-up...and here's what I found... - Atmosphere/attitude - patient-waiting area, receptionist, etc. continues to be as previously described (uncaring, methodical, rote, patient-unfriendly); - Exam (initial measurements) - Assistant (Sirisai) was very friendly, helpful, exacting, willing to entertain/explore questions/concerns presented; - Exam (Dr. Israelson) - very professional, thorough, focused, appeared caring, etc. during exam; however, comprehensive report requested by the patient (me) and provided via email was incomplete...and did not contain pertinent information that could be referenced in the event of an out-of-state/country visit/emergency (based on comparison to reports from other optometrists); - Eyeglass adjustment area - helpful, courteous, etc. - Post-visit Patient classifications (new vs. existing; self-pay vs insurance) - unusual/disincentivizing approach; Responses to email/request were inaccurately read/comprehended and, therefore, inaccurately, incorrectly and/or inappropriately responded to - creating extra work to ensure request was appropriately acted upon as requested by patient; and . Requests for access/retrieval of records/images (Optomap) were not user-friendly (despite techno-skills)...actually the process was a bit convoluted. Based on past reviews (summarized below)...it appears that not much has changed - especially with those critical core values that directly impact the patient and their relationship with the practice.... June 4, 2024 - "...office has become increasingly difficult to deal with." Nov 23, 2022 - "Crabby, unhappy employees." Jun 18, 2011 - "...the staff preferred to talk amongst themselves, joking around, complaining and just ignoring...customer." "...what is up with the snottiness and unfriendly vibe?" Apr 15, 2018 - "There is clearly a customer service problem going on here...condescending and rude...At Envision, the customer is never, ever right." Despite the decent experience with EnVision's professional folks (likely a 4 star) - and a desire to ensure myself and others be treated in an overall respectful, appreciated way (afterall, patients are the primary reason for their existence) I would be...and am...reluctant to refer...and, therefore, subject others...to the office "atmosphere" described both now and in the past (clearly a -0 star). read more

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with The Envision Clinic and Dr. Israelson. A few years ago, I had LASIK surgery, and since then, my vision has been pretty good. I hadn't been to an optometrist in years because I didn't feel the need. That all changed one morning when I woke up with an intense case of pink eye. The Envision Clinic was able to get me in so quickly, and Dr. Israelson was incredible. She was kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, instantly putting me at ease. She prescribed treatment that worked immediately, and during our conversation, she took the time to discuss how eye health can often reveal other potential medical issues, including signs of a brain cancer recurrence--something that resonated with me deeply, as I'm a brain cancer survivor. A few weeks later, once my eye had healed, I returned for a comprehensive eye exam. I've never had such a thorough and thoughtful evaluation in my life! Dr. Israelson's attention to detail was unmatched. Although The Envision Clinic doesn't accept insurance, their pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of care is worth every penny. Dr. Israelson identified a slight astigmatism in my left eye and some mild degeneration in my LASIK correction. She explained everything clearly and practically, helping me understand why LASIK wouldn't be a good option for me again and recommending glasses specifically for driving and nighttime use to reduce glare. Her advice was incredibly practical and tailored to my unique needs, especially as someone with a complex medical history. The clinic itself is top-notch. It's clear they invest heavily in advanced equipment, staff training, and staying up-to-date with the latest research. They also have an impressive selection of frames--from trendy and fashionable to truly unique designs. Although I'm moving from Boulder to Denver soon, I'll happily make the drive back to see Dr. Israelson. She's one of the most compassionate and competent medical professionals I've ever encountered--and I've worked with many doctors over the years. If you're looking for exceptional care, practical insights, and a personalized experience, I can't recommend The Envision Clinic and Dr. Israelson enough. read more

I was pleased with the optometrist I saw for many years, but the office has become increasingly difficult to deal with. This year, they dropped out of my VSP network and then had the nerve to schedule an appointment I didn't ask for, send me a text and email threatening me with a $50 cancellation fee if I didn't show up for the appointment they had made unilaterally, and demanding that I call them, rather than respond to the text or email, to cancel. Also, the people in their eyeglass shop have always been pushy and rude if you want to look at frames/consider getting your glasses somewhere else. read more

I had my first eye exam there today and was very impressed. - Safety was front and center and taken seriously - The assistant gave feedback every step of the way with the various camera shots and tests - The eye doctor clearly explained everything he saw and had character which made it all as enjoyable as possible. All I can say about Envision Boulder is: WOW! I was born with anophthalmia so I don't have eyes, but I still had an amazing experience at Envision. The customer service was so amazing, they went the extra mile to help me pick out the best colors and styles that looked good on me. I've been going to Envision for longer than its been called "Envision". Dr. Graham has taken great care of my eyes over the years. I've been badly nearsighted forever; so went through much of life depending on glasses to see past my nose. Seriously. She helped me deal with contacts, and kept me up to date with new technology over the years, as contacts became cheaper, more comfortable, and easier to deal with. Eventually, we discussed Lasik, and she helped me decide upon a Lasik provider. I had my eyes "done" late on June a number of years ago. The next day, I could drive and see without needing glasses (well except for reading...). Everyone at the office is super friendly and helpful. I feel like my vision is in their hands, and I'm very cool with this. You can maybe find cheaper eye care; but you only have two eyes. I look forward to my annual exam like it's a visit with good friends. read more

I have been using Envision for 5 years and I am pleased with my original everyday glasses with progressive lenses. But when I purchased prescription sunglasses last year to play tennis (which I explained in detail what I needed and how they would be used); the lens and / or prescription made it difficult to focus on the tennis ball. They were inferior to the optical quality of my other glasses. When I returned the sunglasses a 2nd time, Envision tried to convince me I had made a mistake and then implied that I should have paid more if I wanted better quality; rather than listen to me describe the problem and show a sincere interest in understanding why the sunglasses optical quality was inferior. read more

Scratched my cornea while on vacation in Boulder so I called up Envision and they were available to see me so quickly for an emergency visit. Brenda at the front was kind, compassionate, and very efficient. Dr. Jenny was so knowledgeable and made the best of a bad experience. Have never had such a pleasant experience. I did not go to any of the optometrists which seem to be highly rated on Yelp, but I did walk into the store looking for a new pair of glasses since I recently had my eyes examined elsewhere. I walked around looking at glasses and was not greeted for about five minutes because the staff preferred to talk amongst themselves, joking around, complaining and just ignoring a potential customer. When I was finally acknowledged, I was asked, "hi, are you just looking?" Whaaaa?? I wasn't "just looking" -- I want a new pair of glasses, but not with THAT attitude! Granted the prices are higher, but not out of line for designer/European frames, so what is up with the snottiness and unfriendly vibe? With the other optical shop options in town (and out of town) I don't envision myself buying anything from this shop any time soon! read more

Don't trust their advice and think twice before purchasing this brand. It is certainly difficult to write a bad review, but I was left without any options. Here is what happened: I went to Envision with the intention of buying a good quality pair of reading glasses. After trying a few pairs and almost deciding on one, the staff at Envision presented me with a pair of glasses from the brand JAQUES MARIE MAGE. They spoke highly of the brand and let me know these glasses were exclusive, had great quality, and were a good fit for me. Despite the $600 price tag and being over my budget (I am a teacher), I trusted the staff's sales pitch and ended up purchasing the pair of glasses. I went home and did not wear the glasses for about two months, until my school classes started and I needed to do more reading. The glasses are a huge disappointment. They are extremely heavy, and after ten minutes of wear, they leave huge, deep, red marks on the sides of your nose; these marks take over an hour to go away. I called Envision to let them know what happened and they asked me to come in to have the glasses adjusted. The adjustment did not work at all. The manager said the glasses might not be fitting because they are either too big for my face or because I have an Asian bridge that prevents the glasses from staying in place. It is too bad that none of this information or advice came up when I made the choice to spend $600 on this "exclusive brand". In addition, I was never informed that there are no returns and that the sale was final. It wasn't until my initial call that this was mentioned. I usually do not spend $600 on a nonrefundable item. In a desperate attempt to recover my money to buy another pair of glasses I called Envision again and tried to reason with the manager Tyler. He would not bulge or offer any alternative other than there is nothing we can do. I asked to speak to the owner of the store, Jean Israelson. Tyler said Jean was not available but he would let her know to call me. It has been almost one week since I called but I still have not heard from Jean. I take my classes wearing my old glasses which are extremely hard and detrimental to my eye health. I am still hopeful Jean will call back offering a solution to this situation, maybe she did got my message at all. Unfortunately I have not heard from Jean at all. By now I think she has already read my review. I wonder if she would have called if was a white rich person instead of a latino woman. read more

Do not let the older women adjust your glasses. She's incompetent. Everytime she adjust them they're worse. I think her name is Chris. It would actually be quite comical if she wasn't also rude blaming her incompetence on the person's face... My glasses temple broke after a week-- probably from all the bending and unessary adjusting she was doing. Then I was charged for the temple repair. I've worn Silhouettes for years, many pairs, and never had a temple break before. I'm sure it was from all the bending she was doing when she tried to adjust them. The long hair guy is very good at adjusting... Don't let the older woman touch your glasses. read more

I visited Dr. Jeff Smith for a check-up, and was impressed by the entire spectrum (ar ar vision humour starts now) of care! From setting the appointment...to checking in for my appointment...to the actual visit with Dr. Smith...my visit was excellent. The equipment is high-tech and the sterile environment instills confidence from the start. The technician was very friendly, explaining the purpose of each vision test. Once Dr. Smith arrived for my exam, he was very thorough in reviewing all of the notes in my file. Plus, he's just super personable (and I might mention attractive and easy on the eyes, ar ar again)...so that is a huge bonus! He's above-all totally professional so I can see why so many locals entrust him with their eye care. The store selection is fantastic. I was almost sad that I did not need glasses because they carry a gorgeous selection of what appears to be highly curated selection of eye ware...Armani, Maui Jim, Gucci, Chanel, Huveli Milano, Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith...it's EYE CANDY for certain! read more

Never have I had so many little gizmos used to check out my eyes! I had the surface of my eyes mapped, pictures taken of my retinas, eye pressure measured, and my fortune told (ok, I really don't know what the rest of the machines did, but wouldn't that be cool if they did tell your future?). I was a bit late but the staff was very kind and efficient at getting my file updated and prepped to see the Doc. I never like going to the eye doctor because 1) I was blind as a bat, and 2) my eye doctor had appallingly bad breath. Not a good attribute for a doctor that spends so much time in your face going "one or two?" Trips to the eye doctor are better these days because I am no longer blind (go lasik!) and my doctor did not have bad breath. Hurrah! read more

I stopped in to fill a new glasses prescription. When after going through all the details and choosing appropriate frames, I asked if they would honor a discount that was offered previously to me as a non-insured client? This small discount was extended for my previous glasses purchase earlier this year, so the staff member I was working with went to the manger or owner to request this on my behalf. The answer was a respectful no. I asked if I might have a moment to personally speak with the owner/manager myself. I waited several minutes for him to get off from a call. Though he was informed that I was waiting to have a moment to speak together, he would not give me the time of day for that one-minute conversation to consider my request. Because I am a repeating client who has already filled a similarly expensive glasses prescription earlier in 2022, the respectful etiquette would have been to meet me personally for one minute. Clearly, I was not worthy of his time. If an established client is not worthy of personal attention to answer my question, why would I want to spend my $1100 there? Envision Boulder has lost a relatively new and potentially loyal client for life because of this dismissive and disrespectful business ethic. There are many other competitors out there who will be more than happy for a new and loyal client who spends over $1000 for glasses. Envision Boulder, is no longer that place for me, thus I cannot recommend them. read more

She's thorough; current on the lastest research on contacts, glasses and eye care; competent; friendly and calm . She has helped me with glasses prescriptions with changing eyes, contacts, eye infections and referrals to get my cataracts removed . The staff at Envision is professional and helpful. My minor daughter went there for glasses and was told her frames that she was wearing were unusable. She was also told she had 'bad eye's and there was an attempt to shame and intimidate my minor daughter by conjuring up previous order not picked up or paid for when she was 12 years old. I tried to talk to the person "Nina" and agreed to new frames based on price and was exploring an $80 dollar additional option when she stopped making sense or answering my question. Our call soon ended. However Nina proceeded to endlessly insult me to my daughter who was now in tears. My daughter tried to simply order the new frames Nina suggested but Nina REFUSED to take her money or give her the frames model number. She was extremely unprofessional and immature. I learned of this and phoned the front desk and asked if anyone else could take our money 'no' I was told. I contacted Management ( Chris ) later during the week and they were not only unconcerned they could not follow the events as I relayed them and asked me what I expected and said they do not have to sell glasses. I asked if they are a non-profit business or are they in business to earn money and she seemed more confused. I ended up happy with a great pair of Oliver Peoples that they confirmed would work well with my prescription and face before handing them over, thanks guys! Envision was so wonderful! My husband woke up in the middle of the night last night with unexplainable excruciating pain in his right eye. I called right when they opened at 8am and explained the situation. Even though there were no appointments available, they told us to come right in and they'd find room for him. We headed straight there and found out the had somehow got an abrasion on his eye. Fortunately, it was nothing serious (just extremely painful) but it was truly wonderful to have them fit us in and figure out the problem. The dr (Vicky?) was kind and professional and we will definitely be back here for out future eye needs. read more

When I called Envision asking if they'd be able to help me out (after receiving my prescription of course!) they were more than happy to! A quick call to have my prescription faxed, they ran back to get me samples and I was on my way. They were extremely nice and willing to help. Update: I have had several weeks-months now to wear the sunglasses I purchased at Envision, & must say, they are of the highest quality. I get compliments regularly, which is rare, considering they are sunglasses. The lenses actually cover my eyes in a way that prevents & controls migraines!!?! 'Hooray! They are lightweight & fashionable with any outfit: 'be it workout/yoga, elegant/night out, or just grocery shopping. I must give props to the manufacturer & retailer of these glasses, one of which includes Envision. I'm pleased that they were on sale, & indeed, ended up as ultimately a great investment. Due to that, I added a star & update to my rating. Thank goodness for realistic sales (*even in very high end stores) for those of us willing to peruse the available, discounted stock, enabling the consumer to find a gem such as these. They were truly a reward for the work put in, & I now have a bit higher impression of Envision. I will pass their name & location along to anyone inquiring about where I purchased my lovely sunglasses. 'Still overly pricey in the majority of instances, & I still shudder when I remember the elderly man instructed to sign on a line which he didn't fully seem to grasp the meaning of, but it just wasn't my place to intervene. I have never experienced ruder customer service. After waiting for 15 minutes I was told that they refused to adjust my glasses for me because I had not purchased them at the store. I offered to pay for the service even though most places offer it for free and they still refused. I was nearly yelled at when I said it would be helpful to list that on their website. I would avoid this place at all costs!!! Not sure how they have so many positive reviews. read more

After a recent contact order snafu on my end, I feel compelled to give a shoutout to Alison (who handles the contacts) for her stellar customer service. I goofed and ordered a 30-day supply of the wrong contact brand in hopes it would tide me over until my appointment in June. Upon realizing my error, I called and Alison was kind enough to pull me enough samples of the right brand to get me through to my upcoming appointment, rather than spend another $40. In a time where customer service seems to be at an all-time low, it's so refreshing to have someone go above and beyond. read more
