Went in for rout eye exam which is completely covered by vision. At one point the eye doctor told me I had dry eyes and asked if I used eye drops, to which I said yes. Because of this question, which was unsolicited, my medical insurance was billed in addition to vision. When I questioned the charge, the billing manager told me that I must have forgotten the conversation because they always communicate things like that very clearly. The only thing communicated was that I should continue doing what I'm already doing. Before this conversation I even made a point of saying I didn't want one of their services - something to do with a picture of my eyes for health - because it wasn't covered under vision insurance. I'm disgusted with the experience and feel like I've been scammed! There's nothing routine about a routine exam from Front Range Eye Associate! read more

Front Range Eye Associates is a class act. I'm 78 & have worn glasses most f my life and I've never had as complete exam as here. From the Optometrist, the Optometrist Tech the front desk & the person that fit me with frames everyone was skilled & friendly. Amazingly the optometrist recommended that I get Cataract surgery even though the surgery would eliminate any further service from Front Range as the VA would take care of that & my future care. My sons have been going here for 8 years. One of my sons has to wear contacts and eyeglasses. Our last appt was because my son couldn't see as well with his contacts as he could years prior. The doctor informs me that his eyesight had worsened a year prior but they kept his prescription the same since they didn't have "daily contacts" in that high of a prescription which I thought was extremely odd --- did wearing the wrong prescription make his eyesight worse? We changed his prescription and ordered a different brand of contacts on our last visit. Recently, I had requested a new appointment as soon as possible because he can't see in school, the receptionist tells me they are 2.5 months out for scheduling! Obviously 2.5 months is a long time when you can't see and then we would have to wait to get the new glasses and contacts an additional 3 weeks or so. As predicted all this waiting and he is now out of contacts completely and needs something to wear. When I called 2 months ago I asked the receptionist if they were still accepting new patients and she said "yes" to which I said why don't you take care of your existing patients before scheduling new patients. Unbelievable. My recommendation is that you rethink your patient care for loyal existing patients before taking on new patients or setting up a better system to get current patients in more quickly if they are having issues. Edit * they did call me back and acknowledged the fact that it's difficult to get existing patients in and are working internally to rectify the situation and apologized. They also worked my son in for an appt that day and Dr. Murphy was accommodating and able to get my sons contacts ordered quickly. I appreciate the swiftness and diligence and I do hope they can start to develop a plan to see existing patients in a more timely manner. read more

They do not listen to patient concerns. I went in for an emergency visit because I was experiencing eye strain and headaches. I asked them to check my vision as it felt like my astigmatism had changed in some way. The doctor (Tracy Aigner) refused to see if my prescription had changed. Just said I had ocular migraine and sent me on my way. Could not be any less bothered with me or my symptoms. She had no recommendations for what I can do to deal with the headaches and eye strain. Needless to say, I went to a different facility to get my eye exam, and my prescription had definitely changed as I suspected. I have new glasses now and doing much better, no thanks to Dr. Tracy. Please note that I have a review of my specific doctor here under Mary Ann Murphy, OD so you may want to look that one up too. Dr. Murphy is a five star doctor in her own right and one I would highly recommend personally. To begin, I have been a patient here since around 2010 and I am still a patient. Kara and Mandy are excellent intake professionals who do their job to a "T" and I do not have issues with them. What I do have issues with are two specific things: 1) Having to make numerous requests for items. I had to ask almost 3 times for Optomap images that were promised to me at my initial visit. That is going to turn a lot of prospective patients away and make current ones want to shop for a new practice. 2) On-Time-liness. I know Doctors run behind but there is no communication of that lateness to the people in the waiting room and that can become frustrating. I will always remain a patient here because I have a loyalty to Dr. Murphy that she has built with me over the last ten years and you will get great, top-notch care here. I even make the annual drive from Southeast Aurora to this location because of her and her intake staff. If the back office staffing issues could get resolved this would be a five star practice. read more

Years ago, I had nearly given up hope of finding an optometrist I both like and trust. Very thankfully, I tried Front Range Eye Associates first. Dr. Murphy rules! She knows her stuff and she took the time to get to know me. She understands the things that are important to me and she does what she can to make those things happen. I've seen other docs here, too, and I have been equally impressed by how well they blend knowledge and personality. Customer service at this eye care sucks, second time we ordered glasses, first time they forgot to order them and didn't bother letting us know that they came in. Second time, it came in and they never called to let us know that it was in. No communication and no accountability. We asked why no one called us about the glasses, "oh it wasn't me." I don't give a fuck who did it, you as a whole are responsible. Hold your people accountable and communicate. read more

For great eye care, Dr. Murphy is amazing. No one will care for your eyes and offer technology to keep them checked for you. 5 stars for those in the back who care for you and your eyes. The front desk is amazing and does their best to move you through. Do not buy eye glasses here. The service is awful- I would give it 0 stars if I could. You have an appointment time? It's irrelevant you will still wait 30 minutes to be seen. Then my last pair had issues- I had major headaches. I wish the eye glass shop was as good as the doctors and staff in the back. Get your eyes checked here and buy all of your glass needs any where else. It's a shame how mismatched the service is. read more

The eye exam process was incredible, everyone was super nice and friendly. And then I purchased glasses here. I was quoted the incorrect price for these glasses and had to pay more upon pick up. Apparently the person who went over the bill me with "messed up some math". Not sure how she missed $100 worth of charges. Would have been nice to make an informed decision from the beginning. As if that wasn't bad enough the glasses make me nauseous and I can't even wear them. read more

I've been meaning to get lenses for my LaFont frames replaced for a couple of years now. My prescription has increased a good amount and I was concerned about 2 things - service and price. I didn't want my frames to get damaged and I didn't want to pay way too much. I was comparing 3 places to get my lenses replaced and Dan at Front Range Eye Associates was the most friendly and most helpful. He even communicated with me via email when I couldn't call in. I was able to get my lenses replaced in *less* than 2 weeks! Much faster than other places since he was able to do it in house. The last place I went to had to ship my frames out to get it done. And this could just be in my head.. but they seem slightly thinner/lighter than my last pair so I'm pretty happy about that. If you need your lenses replaced, I totally recommend Dan and Front Range Eye Associates! 5 stars for service (hi5 to Dan!) 4 stars for price (my lenses tend to be on the pricey side) read more

I really wanted to like this place and had been going for several years, until... they just weren't able to help me any further, and I did not want to be left with inadequately corrected vision that was affecting daily life, work, and driving. A couple years ago, they did not quite get the prescription right and it had to be adjusted a few times. Although still a little fuzzy, I decided I could live with it. Fast forward a year and a half, the lack of clarity was becoming more problematic. During my most recent visit, they did not want to make any changes, and actually wanted to send me home with a reduced prescription. I decided to just try to deal with it for a couple weeks, but my uncorrected vision was becoming problematic. When I brought up my concerns, the response was disappointing. They did not answer the question, their response did not make sense, and it was essentially dismissive. Heartbreak. Of course, they have a right to stand by their own professional opinion, and think they have the best intentions. After a month of dealing with inadequate vision after my appt with them, and realizing they did not want to provide any help or timely improvements, I ended up paying out of pocket to go see another eye doctor for a second opinion. In this way, I feel like they "stole" my annual eye exam that I get through vision insurance every year. After this experience, a friend who had gone there because I went there, related that they had some difficulties with this place as well. My friend requires glasses with a slight prescription for occupational reasons. While the doctor was very personable, and found need for slight correction, they were reluctant to do a glasses prescription. (One of the main reasons for going to the eye doctor, right?) After some insistence, my friend finally got set up with glasses, that they even paid good money for to get through this place's optical center. The bad experiences with this place are a shame because they seem personable enough, location is good, beautiful office - but, after giving them several chances, some of the things they do don't make any sense and, at the end of the day, what really matters is lacking. read more

Before this review, I gave the company the opportunity to make it right as I saw fit (see explanation of my request below). I encountered the most blatant discrimination I've ever experienced by a 'professional' service. I have a temporary insurance situation which is has led me to take care of my eyes in a proactive manner at a low cost. I have a degree in the medical field and the reason why I am not working is irrelevant. Point is, I am a professional, a neighbor, a contributing member of the local society and did not deserve this treatment. The Optometrist was friendly and explained all of my questions. This was my first prescription for corrective lenses. He forgot to mention that in his prescription would be "blue light filter" lenses (an extra $200 charge). Again, first prescription- no idea what's standard or what a "blue light" is. After the exam, the young girl at the front desk recommended I go to another location for a wider selection of frames that my insurance would cover. Her words were, "because you have xxx insurance, you should go to the Lone Tree location. We have more high end frames here." I asked if I could look at the ones in the office as I was more willing to invest into frames I love rather than what's covered. Heck, I'm a mom to 4 and don't treat myself often.... I wanted a pair of Gucci frames! I found a pair for around $300 that I loved. When the other woman who fitted me rang me up for over $630- I was shocked. I asked if that was because of the lenses which she said yes and that she would add some discounts. The total came to $570. I talked myself into it because I felt it was an investment and I was excited about the frames. By this time I was running late to pick up my kids from school but did request an itemized receipt (which is NOT something they provide unless you ask!!). A few days later I was able to sit down and review the receipt. Here are the charges: Frame $309 Plastic lenses pair $99 Polycarbonate $40 Non-glare with UV 2 year warranty $200 Discount 25% for frame With $339 in unexplained changes (nobody EVER provided me with a choice or education on the charges), I called the office and briefly and very calmly explained the situation and asked for an office manager. Her response, "oh, I remember you. That's why I told you to go to Lone Tree because we are more high end." I was fuming at the ignorance that was the face of the company. An ignorant and uneducated response that was not even relevant to my concerns. The office manager Misty contacted me. She missed the point and decided to take the opportunity to educate me on what I purchased- great, thanks, like I care now that I have no choice? She did apologize, apologies mean nothing- it's the ACTION that lends sincere understanding of where they wronged their customer and that the company has a true investment in making a really fu@ked up situation right! I had to ASK for an action to make it right!!!! She offered that I return the glasses and wait for other lenses to be made then they could "possibly" refund the difference but some of the charges are unavoidable. I told her that a more than fair solution would be to refund me the $120 (I ONLY ASKED FOR $120!!!!) difference between the most expensive and cheapest lenses. I don't have to wear them all of the time and my biggest problem is at night- UV isn't a problem. She said she would speak to the owner. The next day she called and said the owner was willing to give an $80 refund. This was now a NEGOTIATION? I told Misty that this was beyond offensive, my consumer rights were violated and I was also discriminated against by their front desk girl. It's not the money, it's the principle. It's how the business was conducted. It's how I was treated. It's how they attempted to make their wrongs, right. None of this is ok and I cannot stand for anyone else in the neighborhood to be treated this way so I do have to take action to protect the greater good. read more

Customer service was pretty terrible - mostly at the front desk. I did purchase two pair of glasses with progressive lenses that cost a fortune. There were issues initially with the correct prescription that delayed the glasses coming in. After receiving them, I was seeing poorly out of them which resulted in me having to make another appointment to be seen in optical AND by the doctor. Turns out my prescription needed to be adjusted and they took one pair of glasses to do this. Unfortunately, this pair still fails to help me see any better than my old prescription and remains fuzzy and blurry on the bottoms of the lenses that causes dizziness when turning my head or moving in any direction. They told me that was all they could do for me - that they saw me once, saw me twice, and corrected my prescription as best they could. About $1200 down the drain. read more

Had an appointment with Dr. Perez upon recommendation of an optometrist friend in another city. It's been years since I've had an eye exam (had LASIK 14 yrs ago) and I was blown away at the advanced technology and strong teamwork I saw in the office. The assistants and techs were wonderful and professional. And Dr. Perez, caring and expert. While quite a drive for me to head up to Broomfield for this exam, I will be recommending her to others, no doubt. read more

I had been a patient of Dr. Murphy's for several years and liked her enough to continue seeing her even after her practice moved across town. Then Dr. Murphy became less available due to her limited schedule. New doctors came on board and I started seeing Dr. Pipkin for an eye problem. Biggest mistake EVER!! At first I felt I was getting good care - my appointments were set quickly and Dr. Pipkin seemed concerned and eager to help me with my eye issue. It took several appointments before I realized that my eyes were getting worse, much worse. At that point, it appeared to me that Dr. Pipkin had no idea what she was doing or what the problem truly was, so she went ahead and prescribed drops after drops after drops. Many, many dollars, tears and painful eyes later, I walked away. Not only was I in agony, I looked the part! My eyes were a painful sight - red, teary and swollen. I was able to hide my eyes behind sunglasses while out and about but there was no disguising them at work. It was a nightmare. I was afraid that this doctor might cause permanent damage to my eyes and I was not going to risk it. I went to see a new doctor who gave me some relief! It was not an immediate relief, as getting my eyes back to normal and undoing the damage which Dr. Pipkin's "treatment" caused took a while but the doctor knew exactly what was going on and why my eyes were getting worse, not better, and yes, it was Dr. Pipkin's carelessness that caused it. After my eyes were ready for treatment, my new doctor fixed me right up. All it took was a knowledgeable doctor, it was never a guessing game with the new doctor as it was with Dr. Pipkin. Dr. Murphy also let me down. She never followed up on a complaint I made about Dr. Pipkin, she never spoke to me about it once. Dr. Murphy had not seen the state that my eyes were in. Yet, she co-signed a lame response letter in which it was insinuated by Dr. Pipkin that I, the patient who did what she was told by Dr. Pipkin, was somehow at fault for the pain and suffering that I had endured while under Dr. Pipkin's care. Dr. Pipkin claimed that I "misinterpreted her care." There was no misinterpretation. Prescriptions were written by Dr. Pipkin and drops were administered per Dr. Pipkin's instructions. Front Range Eye Associates' approach to a patient's severe problem was to blame the issue on the patient, as if their first concern were a possible litigation, not the well-being of the patient. It's right there black on white, via the response letter which I have received from the practice and there is no misinterpreting that letter. read more

First, I want to make clear that the doctor I saw, Marisa Perez, is excellent. I have loved going to her for the past three years. However, I do not love the office staff and I am actually not going to return because of them. My eye insurance did not cover my most recent annual checkup because it was actually two days less than a full 12-months after my previous checkup with them. And no one in the office checked or asked me if this would be a problem when I scheduled the appointment. I had no idea that my eye insurance had different coverage rules than my health insurance -- they are both through Anthem and my health insurance does not have a 12-month requirement (it operates on a plan year basis, so as long as it's a new plan year everything is covered). So it came as a complete surprise to me when, months later, I received a bill for $150 (on top of the $96 I already paid at the time of service). I immediately called the office and began a month-long back and forth with a number of the office staff as well as the office manager. During this time, I never received a single call back whenever someone promised me that the office manager or someone else would call me back once they had more information. I had to initiate every phone call. Eventually, the office manager told me that they had checked with the third-party company, EyeMed, who actually provided the insurance and that they would not bend their 12-month requirement at all. The office manager apologized but refused to take any responsibility at all for my appointment being scheduled too early to be covered by insurance and she would not discount the $150 charge at all. And this is not the first problem I have had with the office staff either -- I have always found it difficult to get someone to answer the office phone when I call to make an appointment. Oftentimes the phone goes straight to voicemail, which has a recording saying that I must have called during off-hours (but I didn't). Also, twice in the past the office staff has mistakenly billed my health insurance instead of my vision insurance, which led to more phone calls on my part in an effort to fix the billing errors. But having to pay an extra $150 for my annual checkup, an amount which totally negates the benefit I get from my eye insurance, is simply the last straw. You can't expect to make so many mistakes and then be completely unwilling to make it right and still retain customers. read more

I usually go to Walmart for my eye exams, which has an "easy come, easy go" attitude about their patients. The level of customer service is noticeable different at Front Range Eye Associates. I went to see Dr. Perez for my annual eye exam. She was very friendly and professional. She talked to me as if I was a long time patient. The rest of the staff is personable too. Ashley, the lead technician was helpful and conducted part of the eye exam as well. They have a new machine that can examine your eye so that you don't have to get dilated and wear those less than fancy big sunglasses for the rest of the day. I had to get a new pair of sunglasses so I looked at their selection, which wasn't great. This is why I'm giving them 4 stars instead of five. They have a lot of expensive brands like Gucci and Prada, which I couldn't afford. And the shapes and sizes of the less expensive glasses didn't fit right. The sales guy is also pretty pushy about having you purchase one of their frames, probably because he's paid on commission. I did end up buying a pair of glasses, which they allowed me to pay in two installments. But next time, I think I'll just get my prescription and buy a pair a glasses at Walmart. read more

After years of visiting a Lenscrafter optometrist off and on, combined with finally getting vision insurance of my own, I decided I needed a new, more frequent eye doctor. After doing some research on who accepted my plan, I decided to give this office a chance given their reviews, and the ease of their online appointment scheduling. I had an exam with Dr. Aigner. Given it was my first appointment there, I did the standard tests, and opted to use the pretty incredible "retinal photo" versus having my eyes dilated, as I needed to go back to work that afternoon. While I can't remember the assistant's name, both she and the student doctor who helped me were very friendly and professional. I let Dr. Aigner know that I hadn't had an eye exam in a while, and was also looking to try out some daily contact lenses. She gave me a very thorough examination, so I felt comfortable in the lens she recommended, and was able to get an updated glasses prescription. I was set up with some trial lenses and a week later, as mentioned, the office followed up to see what I thought of my contact lenses. Through email, I was able to confirm with them I'd like to try the daily lenses and they placed the order for me through my insurance. The whole process here was very fluid, efficient, and painless. I'm very happy with my choice to check them out, and I highly recommend them! read more

I have Keratoconus from Lasix about 20 years ago which is not correctable with glasses alone. I have worked with Drs. Murphy, Perez and Pipkin and they are all fantastic. Numerous appointments to get the vision just right. They are patient and understanding and all extremely professional and personable. The front desk and support staff are great as well. I've never had an unreasonable wait time. Think about why you might have to wait - the doctors spend as much time as needed with you instead of running out the door and rushing you along. read more

Two years ago Front Range Eye came highly recommended to me by a friend when my insurance changed. Getting my vision right has been a struggle and unfortunately, I've learned to live with the blurriness after being told,"This is as close / good as we can get it". Recently, I have felt such a disconnect between the office staff and doctors in my treatment, I decided to get a second opinion. I'm glad I did....Finally....an answer to my frustration. Within a few moments of my appointment, the doctor quickly found that the wrong eye had been diagnosed as my dominate eye. There it was...no wonder I was never 100 percent comfortable in my glasses, sunglasses and contacts. I wasn't seeing correctly all along. During this appointment the adjustments the doctor made, I was seeing better then I had in a long time! Everything I have purchased from Front Range (glasses and sunglasses) have cost me extra money to have redone with the right prescription. Not cheap! Mistakes can be made I get that, but how could this not have dawned on anyone (three of the docs I saw) that maybe just maybe I had good reason for so many emails, visits and questions vs being perceived possibly as a "chronic complainer". I've asked for reimbursement for my eye care, glasses, sunglasses and most recently my contact lens consultation. As of this evening, I have not received a response. Disappointed ex-patient. I had an eye checkup today with Dr. Paige Stephens who was very professional and thorough. She had a nice personality and I liked her very much, thus the 5 star rating. When I went to the area to look at glasses, the reception was very different. It took a long time and maybe I didn't explain well enough that my insurance pays 80 percent. He disagreed with me about my insurance benefits saying I would be responsible for paying 80 percent which is opposite with insurance paying 80 percent. Finally, after failed communications, I called the insurance company and handed him the phone. I hung in there thinking it was just because he didn't know how to handle my insurance. maybe, next time I will luck out with a more customer oriented person but Dr. Paige Stephens, her assistant and front office staff were great!!! read more

While the providers at this office are wonderful, I am disappointed in my most recent visit. I have been seen at this location for a couple years now, and in the past have never had an issue. This year, I called to order my contacts and was trying to decide between a 1 year or 6 month supply. The gal at the desk gave me the pricing for each and added that the 1 year supply had a $90 rebate. I used that information to make my decision to order the 1 year supply. She told me I would receive my rebate information with my contacts delivery. When my contacts arrive, I had to call because the rebate paperwork was not included. When the staff member who helped me sent the rebate, she clarified that the original gal must have been mistaken because there was not a $90 rebate on my contacts. I was very upset because this was misinformation that I used to make my decision and I count on these professionals to know and provide correct information. I called and left a message for the office manager, and did not receive a call back. When I called a second time and was connected with her, I did not feel like she was very apologetic, and felt that she had an attitude toward me of "there is nothing I can do about it." Her only option was for me to return the contacts, which wasn't possible since I had already opened them and torn the ends off to prepare to send in for rebate. I feel like if your staff is giving wrong information, you should compensate the customer appropriately. I asked for them to compensate me the difference, and she was unwilling to do so. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Murphy's for years and for years I have appreciated the great care she has given my eyes, so much so that I have tolerated the rest of her staff. They are always very nice and polite but some portion of my eye care has been screwed up every single year I have been going there - whether it's my prescription not getting sent to my pharmacy, or contacts not getting ordered, something ALWAYS gets screwed up. Normally it just takes a phone call or two to rectify the problem, until this year. This year Dr. Murphy wanted me to try out several different types of contacts before we ordered my set for the year. A week after my appointment I went into the office to pick up my new glasses and asked about the contact samples. They hadn't been ordered. I called the next day, they hadn't been ordered. We're now 6 days into phone calls to the office. I get promised a call back every day after someone "checks into it" and every day I hear nothing. After today's phone call I informed them I would be in tomorrow to pick up my written contact prescription and would be taking care of it myself. Unfortunately I think it will be my last year of putting up with this office. They have made it quite clear that I am not cared about as a patient unless I'm physically standing there in the office. read more

I've removed 1 star to my previous rating as I feel the customer service/admin part has gone down quite a bit: the doctors and techs are all professional and friendly; however I've had a few mishaps with the front office in the past year (being put on hold for way too long when calling them- sometimes so long that eventually, after waiting ages, I got the recorded message saying they were closed; not receiving a call when my child's eyewear was ready; finding out by chance that we owe them money for a service received about 9months ago, etc.). read more

Front Range Eye Associates is great! I've taken my two young daughters to see Dr. Murphy, and I've seen Dr. Gunderson. Both are terrific, and Dr Murphy and the optometric asst, Karra, were both AMAZING with my kids! The office is clean, bright, and very comfortable. It is located conveniently at 136th and Sheridan with plenty of parking. If you value your time do not go to this business. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever experienced and we all have to wait quite a while for a doctor's visit. After receiving my eye exam I returned for a simple lens exchange and submit my payment, 50 minutes later and not one associate ventured over to help me. Ridiculous. Super classy FREA. read more
