I had to help my family out and was shocked at how insane things had gotten. I looked around to find help but the special care they took on the initial quote was stunning. The crew started and went to work and drove through the jungle and began the I clear it out. I'm not use to this much vegetation so it was astonishing how much they did each day. They spent 3 days working painstakingly in the sun, and did not stop until the job was done. It is the best the yard has looked since I was a kid. The owner deserves a beat on Virginia Beach award I mean it. I don't think there is a job too small or too big for them to take care of. So even if you speak to him and don't use them, I promise you will have an amazing experience talking to a man with a ton of integrity, respect, and great morals. He gave me the best price for this job, and I'm externally grateful for that. Their integrity carries profound wisdom. In a world where circumstances change and challenges abound, it is the steadfastness of character that forges lasting connections and enduring accomplishments. Integrity elevates every endeavor, large or small, and ensures that success is achieved with honor. To seek out and work alongside those with integrity is to choose trust, respect, and shared purpose. It is, ultimately, to choose the best in ourselves--and to build something of substance, together.

He offered to service immediately; however, we held off until needed. His crew came out and removed several bushes, removed old mulch, replaced and made look new, as well as putting in a large section of pavers creating a seamless transition from patio to yard. And they did it in rather unpleasant weather.

I honestly can't say enough good about Shawn Anderson - owner of Visionscapes…read more My fiancee and I met him when looking to replace a shoddy landscape developer when building our custom home who didn't return calls when time was of the essence - when we found Shawn and Visionscapes our home was already framed up but was still heavily under construction and we knew we needed to have a plan in place while it was being built to ensure it didn't cost us more later to get what we wanted. Shawn almost immediately met us on-site - walked around with us - listened to what we wanted - and came up with a comprehensive plan for the property - both front and back yard. He met us at home with a large printed landscape design plan, with plants laid out, pavers, etc. and he went over everything in detail and seemed really excited about the project. Initially we chose to only have the front landscaped - as our dreams for the back are fairly lofty - but because we already knew what we wanted - Shawn met with our builders to advocate for us and ensure we had the proper equipment in advance. For example, I want a custom large fire pit - so he made sure we had the proper output we needed to later install the pipes and such (more jargon needed but I don't remember it now). It would save us a lot of trouble than if we had to change this after the home was built. Shawn's team came out and landscaped our front yard and it's fantastic. He installed specific plants I wanted (white and blue/green hydrangeas) and made a really nice design based on the layout of the home in the lot. When we were finalizing the home there was a mistake made with relation to the landscape plan Shawn made and we submitted to our builders and the cement walkway to the front - while this was being corrected neither we, nor our builders, could figure out the best and most visually pleasing way to fix this issue. We called Shawn and texted him some photos on-site and he sent over within minutes a rough sketch of what he thought we should do - it was perfect and none of us (about 6 people) had even thought about it. He's that good. Really. Because some of the ideas we were having thrown out prior to calling Shawn were pretty bad. And again, time was important, they were pouring it the next day as a quick fix so if we hadn't gotten him on the phone who knows what it would look like today! Shawn has come out and met with us a few times on other items - like fencing for our front and back yard - and he's always willing to set up a time to come to your home and meet with you to discuss. He comes prepared with your home plans, lot layout, and has a well thought-out and planned out design with photos of the plants he suggest so you can see them and approve them. I like someone who did their homework and comes prepared. He makes you feel like you're important and worth the time. That's a big plus. At our last meeting, about fencing in some of our front yard, he walked around to look at the previous landscaping as we mentioned not all the flowers bloomed. He said if they didn't bloom this year to let him know and they'd replace them. Now THAT is good customer service. No excuses, no arguing, no complaints, just, "let me know and we'll fix it if we need to." Another thing we like about Shawn is he almost always answers his phone. He's honest, dependable, approachable and does what he says he will. You get what you pay for folks - and Shawn and his team are top notch. If you need some landscaping done for your home - he's who you need to see. When it isn't cold I'll post some photos of his work.

The owner's smug and condescending attitude is not only arrogant but disrespectful. He took her money and LIED to me in person about completing the work as the building inspection permit expired. I am so furious and enraged. This company ALSO received a PPP loan that was forgiven for over 40K. My mother's yard has four massive holes that collected water through the late summer and early fall rain which almost seeped into the interior of the house. Now she has to come up with 18K for protective maintenance measures that could have been avoided. Although the company creates beautiful decks as displayed via their social media accounts, my mom did not benefit from this.

They started either 02 or 03 July, 2020. They finally finished 13 October, 2020. In the meantime, there were excuses of weather, labor shortage, and materials not arriving. The fact was, there were quite materials that were incorrectly ordered, and there was only a limited understanding of our local building codes (they're in VA, we're just south of the border in NC). Workmanship seemed OK, except, afterwards, we had an issue with the ceiling (our new deck received a roof) in that the siding on one end was bellying down and exposed the rafters. Also, the roof itself leaked during heavy rains. We didn't notice the leakage until April or May of 2021. The ceiling seemed OK until the weather warmed, then it sagged. There were also boards coming up in the deck itself because they were not properly fastened (not limber but TREX). We contacted Ryan Smith and he said they would make the repairs ASAP. I sent both photos and videos. My intial text was in May 2020. We waited and waited. I hounded Ryan Smith again, and he claimed they were short staffed. I tried again in October. Now he asked for photos to be sent, which my wife and I both had already sent him, but I sent them again, along with videos. Still, no phone call, no explanation, and no repairs. It is now January 2022. How much longer should I wait? My advice is, don't hire these people, not even to build a sandbox for your grandchild. P.S. I still have the photos and videos, available to anyone. Unfortunately, my video won't post here. You won't find Dream Decks listed with the BBB either.

Bluf: Reliable, high-quality company with affordable prices…read more We've used this company for many years (10 or so). Owner Aaron exhibits old-school integrity and is wicked smart with respect to trees, grass, flowers, etc. Pretty certain he knows the Latin names for all the plants too. His services are priced affordably (lower than the big national companies) and the results are noteworthy. We've had him install French drains, sump pumps, remove bushes, grate & level our yard after a giant tree removal, install a 16 x 70 paver patio and a separate patio off our master, and of course maintain our grass. I recommend him for all your landscaping needs.

I'm updating my earlier review because, over the past 2 years things have taken a turn…read more They have been my yard company for a probably about 4-6 years at this point. At first, everything was great, but recently there have been a lot of problems and it mostly boils down to the people who come to mow the yard and not the people in the office who are great (Mel, Cindy, Aaron). I have to be totally honest, it's not all bad, they are responsive to concerns and they always call you back. Aaron and his dad, Mel, will personally call you and/or come over whenever there is an issue and Cindy is very helpful and runs a tight ship on the phone from their office. In addition to weekly mowing services, they do landscaping and have mulched for me and installed metal edging and did a good job. They also have seeded my yard for me at the end of season and that turned out pretty well. I had a few issues with some landscaping and they were quick to come over and make it right. I also had an issue where they kept hitting my porch step repeatedly and it ate it away the wood but they did pay to repair it when I had it fixed. I basically live in Back Bay and my yard retains a lot of water so I've had a bunch of issues with ruts in the yard and them driving through the mulch beds instead of weed eating or taking a little extra time not to tear up my yard when there is bad weather. No, you can't control the weather, but you can do some stuff to not be so hard on someone's yard (like weed eat instead of drive the zero turn over problem areas, etc.) and I haven't seen any of that recently. It's constant pain and irritation on my end and I'm sure they're tired of me calling to complain as much as I'm tired of being irritated by the crappy care taken in my yard. I'm pretty unhappy with the quality lately of the weekly service I'm paying for and the guys who come cutting corners with the weekly maintenance. I've included photos. The guys who come sometimes drive the entire wheel through the length of my mulch bed, over the sprinkler heads, and undoing the mulching and edging I pay for annually. They also repeatedly turn the zero turn in the exact same spot and drive ruts in mud through the yard every week and kill the grass I pay $300-400 to have seeded and $500-700 to have treated. It's a lot of money to have careless services, so I've decided to go with someone else who perhaps has less yards to mow, but won't cut corners to be quick. I'm tired of worrying about it. It's clearly just not a good fit with my yard.
