I looked mostly at the comic and game section but the comic section was very organized. They separated current/new issues from the vintage back issues which were alphabetized. I also glanced at the games and there's many lowkey ones & a section for 2 player games. I came across a choose your own adventure game I've been meaning to buy. This was a downtown area so most of the parking was metered street parking. Free parking after 8pm! I'm glad I found this gem and hope to stop by next time I'm in the area.

Then fast forward at least 15 maybe even 20 years and this guy entirely forgot he had credit because his job took him away from Santa Cruz. But one day he returns to get the batteries changed in his old Pokemon games (which they did quickly and for a very reasonable price) and he was informed he had almost 20 bucks sitting there. That's me. I'm the guy. It's been so long that they could never have told me and I would never have been the wiser. Also, even if I remembered they could have kept the money after so much time had passed and I would have fully understood. But nope, they held on to it and even told me about it. Their collection of retro games is amazing and you can buy modern games there too? It's all you could want in a game store.

I'm so glad we just happened to park in the large parking lot next to this store. It was a delight. The store is much larger than it appears from the outside. Mainly because there's a whole second half you might not realize is there until you come in. The selection here is wonderful and the lay out newer issues in a very easy to browse way. The back issues are in your traditional long box that you need to flip through, but they're all labeled in a way that makes it easy to narrow down your search. While they did not have the specific issue I was looking for, they happily went online and found an online retailer that had it for a reasonable price. That's great customer service that no other store has ever shown me (including my own local comic book shop where I've been a regular for 10+ years). Even when I told them they didn't have to do that they insisted and had a site for me within a minute or two. I really appreciated that. The two workers were so friendly and helpful. When I mentioned I was from Los Angeles they asked where my local store was & immediately knew it and had nice things to say about the owner. You could tell they really loved what they did and the comic book community as a whole. While I don't know how often I will be in the area, if I am ever even remotely close I will absolutely come by again. This is one of the best shopping experiences I've has at a CBS outside of my area.

I love everything about it. I was hesitant on coming in as I had my mind set on getting cookies a block away and he convinced me to stop in so we can look for Princess things for me and my bestie!! I was ALL in at that point. Upon entering in, I knew I didn't want to go. They had cute cards you can mail out which I'm so old school I love it. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to find the perfect Santa Cruz card!! I grabbed so many and started narrowing it down and down. I ended up not picking any of them and found a really small unique card I fell in love with which was perfect for the theme I was going for!! This place has so many hidden TREASURES. I was rummaging through everything from vintage games, books, puzzles, trinkets, unique items and the dude found a mermaid shell the actually hatches a mermaid. I knew that was the perfect item to pair with my cute card!! A unique find in Santa Cruz which was awesome. While I was in awe of the store the dude found a Coney cup *insert love emoji eyes* I literally squealed my princess skirt off!! There was no way I was walking out the store without it. I think the dude and I spent about an hour in the store until I realized we had to go pick up my hat that was being done. The line wasn't too long for check out and the owners informed us that they barely put the Coney Line Friends cup out two or three days ago!! Just my luck. I let them know they need BROWN BEAR - CONEY'S true love! So they were pleased that someone bought it. The owners were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Their store made me fall in love with Santa Cruz and make the trip very special! It was clean organized and such unique items you won't find! I highly recommend you come and check it out. EXTREMELY UNWELCOMING…read more -I went here for a pre release event a few months ago, One Piece OP-09. It went Ok, worker behind the counter was somewhat helpful as I have never been to a pre release event before. But him and no one else would have any kind of friendly/communication. I get it most people in this scene tend to be socially awkward. But that isn't what this review is about. Today I went to the next pre release event. A full house compared to last time. The "locals" crew was there looked me up and down, wasn't greeted and just looked at as if I should not be there. Very bad and unwelcoming energy. The guy behind the counter, (same as last time) verified me through the Bandai + app before i went to the room where the event and games would take place. One more "local" showed up and then he comes to the back, asks to look at my application again, and made an excuse saying I have the wrong one and that I am not part of the event anymore. Instead of causing a scene I just left. Absolutely terrible. Bandai makes the app and these events a specific way. Just because your group who comes to locals night regularly wants in and shows up late, you make up a reason to eject someone who was properly registered for an event. F- Will not be going back to this place again.

There are tables that you can create villages on however the people, army tanks, dragons, etc cannot be played with on the tables?! So weird. They have signs right next to the figurines that say "public allowed to use terrains." I don't speak "gaming language" however that allegedly means the "terrain" isn't off limits, but the items to put on the terrain are... so bizarre. Also, the open display case is filthy. That store hasn't seen a duster ever...

Asked about selling things to the store, he said they hardly buy stuff and it's not worth his time. In a lapse of judgement I brought in a few things and was offered $25 for what easily can be sold for over $300. Some of the hot wheels they sell go for more than $25. Will never return and recommend nobody wastes their time in here. Plenty of other local stores to go to for buying and selling, your business is seen as a detriment rather than welcomed.

I particularly like this record store more than Redwood because of the large variety of music genres. I saw how they had some of my dad's favorite bands like REM and carried older albums of my favorite artists. My boyfriend and I were able to score an old Lil Wayne album as well. Love the charm this place has and they are able to cater to everyone's kind of music. Still giving niche, but up to date as well!

First off my husband asked where do you keep box sets,the employee said "what's a box set?" My husband had to show him. Then the employee who doesn't know where or what a box set is started talking about an artist on my daughter's sweat shirt,then the person he was talking to singled my daughter out for wearing the shirt loud enough to be heard then he said a very rude and insulting comment. My daughter is a grown women (for the record) she was going to purchase about $70 of items but decided she'd spend her money elsewhere. I guess they feel its ok to be so rude and chase away business
