I just bought my first pair of brand new, higher end snowboard boots yesterday at Epic and Marshall is the best boot fitter I've ever met. I teach snowboarding full-time at Monarch near Salida and this dude knows what he's doing. I had been to 7Twenty Boardshop and Evo in Denver two days ago and neither took the time or the approach that Marshall took. 7Twenty had no input on which boot might work best and Evo was so busy they got impatient with me wanting them to fit right. I don't have much of an arch in my feet so they collapse in towards each other unless I make a point to stand on the outsides of my feet. He explained that I would need special insoles to make that less severe as well as to help make my stance more stable and comfortable. I already wear orthotics in my normal shoes but didn't need to mention that for Marshall to know I needed extra support. He also explained how it will help to save my knees from bending towards each other. There's a lot of anatomy involved and he knows it and uses it to It took a few different boots to find ones that would not only work but would fit well, support my arch, and were stiff enough to be able to handle how hard I tend to snowboard. The pair I bought felt very comfortable yet sturdy. My toes were touching the end too easily though. So Marshall grabbed toe caps and partially heat molded them so that I had more room for my toes and so it conformed to my feet better more generally. That was the key to getting the right fit for my wide toe box and skinny ankle. One thing I did see that was less than ideal was that he was helping 4 or 5 of us fit snowboard boots at the same time. I couldn't help but notice that the ski boot side had almost one fitter for every skier. Despite having to help us all simultaneously though, Marshall took the time with each person to make sure they got the right fit. Epic should probably get another snowboard boot fitter(s) and then have Marshall train them so they follow the same philosophy and methods that proved so successful with my atypical feet. It would certainly make more people happier which brings recommendations which brings in more people which ultimately brings in more money. I HIGHLY recommend Epic Mountain Gear in Boulder if you need winter gear. If you need snowboard boots, maybe call ahead and make sure Marshall is working if you want the best fit with the best boots for your own unique feet. You are the man Marshall! Let me start with the fact that I rarely experience a level of customer service that leaves me blown away, and that's exactly how I felt after getting my first boot fitting with John. I came in the Sunday right after Black Friday to get a boot fitting and a new set of skis, and luckily for me, John was available. Not only is he very approachable, John took the time to educate me on the specs of the boots and bindings. He's extremely detail oriented and took the time to explain why the smallest margins in his measurements matter. I needed an entire set and was really impressed at how efficient he was in matching me with the right pieces while attending to other guests as well. After recovering from a sports injury, safety has become my main concern. After inquiring John's background a bit, it was very comforting to know that not only does he have a decade of experience, he is continuously developing his craft from top experts in the field. He seems very passionate about what he does, and his candor made me feel like he was looking out for my best interest every step of the way. Even though the demo skis were sold out, he still managed to match me with a new pair of skis at a great deal. It was hands down the best shopping experience I've had in my 2 years living in Boulder. I believe anyone who is in hospitality, sales, or customer service can take away a lot from John. On top of that, I even got a follow up call directly from him about additional adjustments, and my skis were ready a week earlier than the original pick up date. I understand that he could have just skipped the phone call altogether and made the adjustments without my consent, and I wouldn't even have noticed. This is a guy who doesn't skip any steps or cut corners, which I greatly appreciate. Epic mountain gear overall seems like a very well oiled machine ran by strong leaders, which includes the people I didn't get to meet face to face. Thank you everyone at Epic Mountain Gear, including the ladies at the cashier desk, who made my first ski shopping experience so wonderful. Great experience! Lets start out by saying that boulder ski deals has had its ups and downs. This experience I had would not have happened 2 or even 1 year ago, but with a new staff in place, I feel like they have taken a good step forward in the ski industry. Also understand that I have had good friends work at boulder ski deal in the past years, so I have a solid understanding of how they used to treat customers and of how they used to operate. I warrantied a par of atomics and they handled the situation better than I could have. Handling warranties directly with most ski companies, including atomic, sucks and takes a long time to accomplish. Cory from boulder ski deals made this process quick and easy. I assume he was able to accomplish this is because vail (whom owns boulder ski deals) has a good relationship with atomic, but without Cory as a manager I would have not been surprised to see them make me deal with atomic on my own. I am very grateful that Cory is at boulder ski deals and I will be recommending to my friends and family to buy skis from them. Buying from boulder ski deals now bring an extra sense of comfortability that you can not find easily. Some of the staff is undertrained (because of a high turnover rate), but as a whole the CURRENT managers are reliable and the products are reasonably priced. If you have dealt with them in the past, you probably have run into some bad managers and staff, but this is no more. Consider yourself lucky to have bought from them if the product you bought is defected. I will update if I see any changes in operations. read more

Ellen is the best! If youre looking to get fitted for snowboards, boots, bindings, and anything else snow related she's the one to talk to. Shes been working at Boulder Ski Deals way before the name was changed to Epic Mountain Gear. She knows her stuff. I had come in for 2 years to talk about different gear and she always recognized me even though i hadn't bought anything. I finally set my sights on a Flow whiteout 2015 model. I came in to Epic Mountain gear and found out that there was only one of the size i wanted and it was at the ski and snowboard expo in Denver. They contacted Ellen and she brought it back for me. They really go above and beyond for their customers. Last weekend i came in with my brother and he got fitted for a new board, boots, bindings and all the other little things you need when getting your first new set up. Ellen had great recommendations on everything from gloves to stomp pads. She has had the chance to try out a bunch of product since working there so it was great to hear what the best equipment is from her. She's not a pushy sales person and will gladly work within a budget you tell her. At the same time, the BOA cable in my boots weren't working correctly. I was talking with Ellen and Hank while my brother was getting fitted and they told me it was an easy fix. I live in Nederland. In the last week, I spent a few days trucking around Boulder shopping for Snowboarding gear. Being that I've been in the area now for over ten years, and that Boulder has been blowing up, I like to give everyone a fair shot as a consumer. After hitting all the spots in town, and even toward Denver, I cannot say enough about Boulder Ski Deals, and their staff in Boulder. The manager Cory O is a super dude. He made sure I walked out with everything I needed and was extremely helpful. He was very personable, kind and stoked on my recent adventures to Wolf Creek. Ellen was an excellent representative when it came to setups of past and present, dialing in just the right choices for myself and my fiance. Chasin helped us out with Boots and literally went to the wall when it came to my every need, as I am usually rather difficult when fitting my feet. He kept super patient with us and I am amped on his recommendations. Henry fitted my lady with helmets galore until she was most comfortable, and him and I joked about Lake Tahoe for a bit. Overall, we are so happy with our experience at Boulder Ski Deals in Boulder, that I wouldn't hesitate sending any of my friends or family, and nonetheless would not go anywhere else, myself. Sometimes you get service and sometimes you get better than service. I walked in on a busy night with short time and was able to meet Lena in the boot fitting area. We talked while she glided about keeping her customers happy and the atmosphere light. Fitting ski boots is an art and when you are surrounded by folks that "think" they may know more than the professionals it can be tarnished. Lena worked her magic. Moving from one person to the next while watching time and temps on the ovens and the standing statues awaiting perfection. I was able to try three different boots with good, better, best success. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stick around to continue the process. I asked when she would be in next and I arrived the following day to have here remember my size and choice of boot. Smiles and professionalism made my fitting perfect. About an hour'ish later my boots were done. Salomon XPro120's out the door. Made the following day at Mary Jane unforgettable. It's all about Jesse! Ok... maybe not but I've been a fan of Boulder Ski Deals for years and Jesse is now included in that. Each season we saddle up and head down to make sure our kids are geared up for the coming ski season with gear that fits and is comfortable. We've used the Jr. Trade In/Up program and always had great success. Bottomline we bought our kids gear there as well as our own and we were satisfied customers. Of course consumer research says that THE most satisfied/loyal customer is actually one who's had something gone wrong and had it made right. Well we're now that most satisfied/loyal customer. Somehow during the rush that is Ski Rex this year we ended up with incompatible equipment and only figured it out when we went to hit the slopes months later!! I won't go into the details but Jesse owned up to the mistake, got things corrected and made us feel good about the whole thing. We're going to continue to buy our ski gear at Boulder Ski Deals and recommend that you do the same. They know what they're doing and stand behind it! read more

So I just moved to boulder and wanted to buy some ski boots. I am not a ski boot expert, but was greeted with a smile and asked what I needed. Elliot immediately introduced himself and asked me what I needed and didn't judge me for not knowing anything. He helped me get fitted try on some various bootswithin my price range. He made sure I was comfortable and liked the boot. IF I told him one thing was bothering me either tried to fix it or ask someone else for advice which was awesome. If you don't know something its ok to ask for help. He w5as able to get me in a Lange SX 100 boot that usually cost anywhere from 400 to 500$ and sold it to me for 225$ which was amazing. The chemistry of him and the girl Lena working together was outstanding they did an awesome job and were very polite and chill. They seemed to enjoy helping me, and made me feel like I was getting my moneysworth. I recommend buying any ski gear here not only due to the great prices, but the great customer service. During my visit to Boulder Ski Deals I was helped out by Lena and "Petahhhhh" aka "Pistol Pete." I was greeted as soon as I entered the store and received some extremely helpful advice by Lena and ended up spending more money than I wanted, but got a great deal on some Rocker 2's and bindings. If only she didn't have that stupid shirt on. Who the fuck thought of "Rexpert?" Talk about unprofessional. Almost went to Christy's because of that dumb T-Rex on that shirt. Have you ever seen or imagined a T-Rex skiing? Hellen Keller might be a better skier than T-Rex. T-Rex does have those quads though so maybe I am overreacting. I would assume you would want your sales people to be approachable, but want to know what is not approachable? A T-Rex. Who in their right mind would approach a T-Rex. Maybe next year you can use a panda or a puppy. You can never go wrong with a puppy. I would buy some badass skis from a knowledgeable puppy. read more

Love this place and won't go anywhere else if I can help it! The day that they switched from Boulder Ski Deals to Epic Mountain Gear they had a pretty big event and the place was packed. I unknowingly chose that day to go purchase my first board, bindings, and boots. Henry was the staff member that helped me out and he didn't mind that they were packed. He still acted as though I was the only one there and made sure everything was just right. I must've tried on every boot that they had, but at the end of the day I walked out of there with a great setup. Additionally, they have an amazing policy to make sure you're happy with your gear. Sure enough, after a few times on the mountain I wasn't happy with my bindings. I went back and, without question, replaced my bindings with something that I was happy with. This is a great store with a great staff that will definitely go above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. read more

Just bought skis, boots and related accessories for the first time in 15 years and had the best experience with the staff at Boulder Ski Deals. Fred helped me choose boots and skis and really took the time to listen to what I wanted, what I worried about re: boots, and also took the time to educate me and the other customers present about how to choose boots and the process of fitting them. I will definitely return to Fred with any issues or questions, and I can't wait to tell him how everything worked out on the slopes. Michael helped me to choose my helmet, goggles and mid-layer items. And again - took the time to listen to what I wanted and also to educate me about the technology available. Went into this store with some problems I had with new snowboard boots I had previously(about a week prior) purchased here. I spoke with Henry in snowboards, and off the bat he was very knowledgeable/focused on diagnosis of the previous problems I had and to find me a boot that would suffice. After 6hrs in an in depth analysis of my feet he found the perfect match, although he was concerned with the size of the boot so he order a half size smaller from a different store to compare. The boots arrived after the lengthy journey across the ocean and I was able to try them on, BOOM, perfect fit. Jokes aside, Henry did a phenomenal job fitting myself in the correct boot and I will be returning for his expertise in the future. read more

I am not from the Boulder area, but was in town visiting from the east coast and was recommended to Epic Mountain Gear to buy a new snowboard. I'm glad I took the recommendation! Marshall was incredibly helpful in finding the perfect board. I went in on Monday to browse and gather some information, and he provided a ton of unbiased options and I didn't feel pressured into buying the newest most expensive thing. His knowledge about the equipment was phenomenal, and it helped me make an educated purchase at the end of the day. From the prices, to the knowledge and honest advice based on our riding styles, these guys were amazing. Ellen waxed my board, fixed my boa cables, fit my boots to my feet, and put my new bindings on my old board. She was patient and so helpful! Hank spent tons of time helping my husband with his new boots and bindings, and made recommendations for a new board for him, as well, even though they didn't have it in the store! I love the staff at this store, they are so friendly! Today I went in to exchange my snowboard boots sincethe ones I bought a few weeks ago just were't working for me. Jesse was so helpful and he immediately took it upon himself to find me just the right boot for the right price based on the shape of my foot. He then help me find the right insole to put in my boot, because my heel was still slipping a little. After spending all this time educating me on boots, and heat molding the boot for me on the spot, he spent the time explaining the different types of snowboards, since I was also in the market of buying one. I had probably the best shopping of the entire winter season today at Boulder Ski Deals! I worked with one of the sweetest and nicest sales reps ever Ellen! She was very helpful showing us not only the stuff for what we needed but she also incorporated our tastes into her suggestions which let me not only find equipment that was the most effective but also that I loved to look at. I purchased a new snowboard and boots along with a new shell coat and ski pants and I couldn't be happier with any of it! My wife and I stopped by the store today because my wife's ski boots weren't fitting the way she liked when skiing. We met Fred in the boot fitting department and found that he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to boot fitting. He took the time to walk my wife through the entire process of properly seating the foot prior to buckling. He made sure that she understood how to adjust and tighten the buckles properly. He even adjusted the heel of the boot to assist with heel slippage. Fred went out of his way to make sure that she was not only happy but also that he was able to pass along his years of experience. Kyle in the snowboard department was excellent. I am a VERY new boarder and bought a used board last year. I called for a tune, and he told me it would be a few days. Then asked what condition it was in. When I said I didn't know he said to bring it in. He looked at it, said it was in great shape and really didn't need anything. He ran flint (?) around the edge to flake off some crud and said you're all good. So helpful, connecting and didn't sell me something I didn't need. Even gave me some tips on using my old bindings better. I'll be back there when I get tired of those old bindings_ for sure! thx Kyle read more

Tried to get my seasonal rentals for my nephew here. I have done so in the past, and I know it can be busy, so I called in advance. Was told there was a very minimal wait. Came in and was told now a 2 hour wait. Put on a wait list where they texted me when I was ready. Recieved a text that I was ready to go- when I got back in there they told me another 30 minutes. And someone else in line got mad so they told me they were in front of me and I would have about 45 minutes. Left. Went to a competitor and they did a bang up job on the spot. They have good prices, but geeze they need to nail down the service side. read more
