I was looking for a new salon and since this is in town, decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I did. Upon arrival I was greeted immediately with smiling faces - great first impression right off the bat. There's nothing worse than walking into a salon and being ignored or greeted by annoyed receptionists. So this was a huge plus already. I met my stylist, Molly, and told her I was at her mercy to do something great with my hair. But what she did wasn't great at all....it was absolutely INCREDIBLE. She took the time to work on my already colored hair to make it into a gorgeous Fall themed creation that I have not stopped getting compliments on. I went for a couple reasons to epic A. My girl friend moved to this salon B. I have not found someone or some place that has been able to give advice, know what they are talking about, know what they are doing, and most importantly make me leave loving it. I've gone to Epic twice now. I previously was driving to Glastonbury and could never seem to get an appointment with my stylist unless I booked 3 months out. So when I saw the hours of the new place that sold me! Shana was my stylist and listened to what I like and don't like and gave me some of her options too. She gave me accurate pricing for what she would be doing and worked with me to get the price down for a similar look I was going for. At first we were skeptical if they can match the particular color my daughter wanted but they were amazingly spot on. Management made us feel comfortable and they also have great products available. 3/30/16 update had to give epic 5 stars. No where will you find better customer service. The owner Richard, emailed me right away and asked for another chance to make me happy. Went in to see Nikki today and I'm not disappointed!! She gave me a great wash and massage, a beautiful blow dry and topped it off with great curls! Just how I wanted. To top it off I got to speak with Keri and clearly we had a miscommunication my last visit. I will definitely go back and have my hair done again soon with Keri or Nikki. 10's all around!! I went in today for a haircut after having my hair done by my old salon in Philly and I have to say that EPIC holds up to it's name! Jillian was incredibly nice and made me feel almost like I was back with my old hairstylist. The way she cut my hair was really nice and while I normally don't go as short as I did in the front, she still made my natural waves come out and I don't think that I would have had the same amazing end result had I gone to other salons in the area. The atmosphere and decor are very modern and cool, and I also love that they use J Beverly Hills and Kevin Murphy products (my old salon used to use Kevin Murphy too), so that was the icing on the cake. I have fine, thinning hair and was desperately seeking a stylist that could update my look; one of my friends recommended Epic Salon - I am so happy she did! My third time coming here to have my hair done. I am pretty particular with how I want my hair, and I can honestly say that this salon is one of the only I've ever been to that nails it every single time. I have tried multiple other salons in the area since I moved here from Ohio and I leave unhappy every single time. But Epic Salon is IT. I would recommend this salon to literally anyone. I have had Vanessa do my hair twice, and Jess once, but I must say Vanessa is my girl. The salon is nice, well lit, the product they use is always clean, organized, and looks professional on the shelves. Good music, nice decor. I am not one to force small talk with my stylist, I just let her do her thing and it feels nice knowing that you don't have to have fake conversations the entire time. She's amazing, and most of all a good listener. I explained my vision of what I want now and what I want to achieve when my hair grows a bit longer. I went to this salon having heard great reviews and being unable to make an appointment with my normal hair dresser elsewhere. I was very disappointed with my experience here for several reasons, but the biggest being that my hair didn't come out how I had asked or wanted at all and dropped $200 on this. I asked for a blonde balayage from one of the Master stylists there and ended up with a regular full foil highlight that didn't even go all the way to my roots! So ultimately instead of having a balayage finish that looks like the blonde is melting down my hair, I left the salon with a harsh line that made my hair look like my highlights already grew out half an inch. Not to mention that the highlights made me look like 1/2 Kelly Clarkson from the 2000s and 1/2 Khloe Kardashian. The salon is clean and chic but I also would've liked to see and experience a little more personality from the staff. They were nice, yes, but not a staff I would reschedule my day around to go back to. I will not be going back here. read more

I live in South Windsor, grew up in Windsorville, & quite familiar with the area. I honestly had never noticed a salon in the location where Epic now resides until they took. The logo and building design caught my eye as I was leaving the Stop & Shop plaza. My former stylist was booked on the weekends leading up to Valentine's Day and I immediately thought of Epic. They contacted me right away and scheduled me with Nikki (owner) in during their soft opening. My first appointment was nothing less than wonderful. I went in for a color, blow-out, trim/style, and decided to add some highlights following an extremely professional consultation. In addition, I immediately felt at ease as Nikki has experience with ethnic hair (I am biracial), which has been somewhat of a challenge for me in the past when working stylists. The overall experience was equal to, if not surpassing, high-end salons I had been to in the past. Surprisingly - in a great way - the overall cost of my appointment was significantly less than that of the aforementioned high-end salons. I booked my second appointment for a color touch up, which was yesterday. I received the same excellent service and followed Nikki's advice to lighten a little more, but not too much as the risk for damaging my hair would be too great. the results were fabulous! I booked a third appointment with Nikki for a Keratin treatment and look forward to going back. I need to mention their products - the entire staff is quite knowledgable about the clean, cruelty free products they use, and have never been aggressive about pushing me to purchase. read more

My first experience at EPIC Salon was epic indeed! I am absolutely in love with this salon. It's quaint, cozy, relaxing, clean, and it smells good! ( I even told the gentleman behind the front desk how good it smelled) I had Jessica as my stylist and she is AMAZING! I hadn't been taking care of my hair for a really long time and it definitely needed some work. I went in with a few ideas and she took everything I wanted to the next level. She knew exactly what my hair needed. We spent some time before going to the washing station (which by the way, is the most comfortable hair washing station I have ever experienced, you can put your feet up!) going over my wants, needs and goals for my hair. I have fine and thin hair and she gave me the perfect cut that will be simple to style and recreate. She is truly an expert! I LOVE my hair and I haven't said that in a really long time (mainly because I've been neglecting it but I also wasn't thrilled with my last stylist at a different salon). She walked me through everything she was doing, told me which products she was using, and why she was using them. She spent a lot of time perfecting everything and I could not be happier. Jessica and the entire EPIC Salon team are fantastic. They are all very warm and welcoming and they make you feel right at home. Vanessa deserves a medal for what she accomplished with my hair -- both due to the time it took and the results achieved. I had spent the past 3 years box dying my naturally dark brown hair pure black, and was ready to grow it out. I was struggling to do this smoothly, and decided to try to balayage it out myself. Long story short, being a very DIY type person, I ended up with orange hair, tried glazing, still orange, and just box-dyed it dark brown again. At this point I ran with my tail between my legs to Epic Salon and Vanessa was nothing but honest and straightforward about not being certain what would come of my results given what I'd done previously. I expected as much. I have a lot of thick, long hair, so we waited a few weeks to find a time slot which would give an appropriate amount of time. Even still, it was an endeavor, and it took more than 5 hr to bleach/glaze/cut. But Vanessa was very meticulous about her balayage, and took very subtle pieces to bleach out the bands in my hair. I have been getting stopped left and right ever since with people telling me how beautiful my hair is. I've never had so many compliments before. It looks great curled, straight, or up in a messy bun, which is exactly what I needed. Can't rave enough! read more

I am re-posting this review because i can see it if i am logged in but anyone else can not see it. I am not sure if the business removed it or if Yelp hid it. I just had my hair done at EPIC salon in South Windsor. I had a consult last week, where I waited an hour to speak to someone (even though I had an appointment). I spoke with a stylist that from multiple photos told me that blonde highlights would not be an issue. I then scheduled an appointment for today at 5, and they called and said I had to move it back to 12pm. I did this and also took the day off to get this done. I got to the appointment today and showed them the photo again- they said it would not be a problem and it would be pretty. For a full highlight and cut, we began with the foil highlights. The process was going fine until my stylist started taking out the foils. I knew something was wrong when my stylist brought over another stylist and they had a 15 minute conversation at the coloring station and they both kept looking at me. When my stylist came back she said I would have a toner put on. I laid at the hair washing station for 45 minutes while my foils were randomly removed and then a toner was applied and I sat there. I kept asking her if the color was ok or what was wrong. She said it was fine. Even with sopping wet hair I knew something went wrong. I said- I thought this would be blonde like the picture. She said "I promise it will be more blonde when it's dry" She then cut in bangs way to short and thinned out my hair without my consent. Huge chunks of hair were flying off. I just kept telling her that this was not what I expected and I even asked her to stop cutting and thinning out. I called and they said I could come back in for a consult again with another stylist... but I don't have any more hair to cut off really. What can they do for me that isn't already ruined?!?!? Horrible horrible experience. Especially with a pre-consult and repeated assurances that it would be fine and it would look like the image. Please save yourself and don't go here. It will take me years to grow this out. I am adding to my review because Yelp won't let me respond to the message below- The critical piece of the review and what the comment below does not mention was that the stylist told me it would take more than one sitting AFTER the cut and color was done. BEFORE I got this disaster I was told that it would be done in one sitting. And the stylist looked and my prestyle and said that my bangs because the hair already swept to the side would go that way. If I was told that my hair would be short and orange I would not have done this. Also the big change I was looking for was not SHORT AND ORANGE but the blonde color which I was clear about. The communication was horrible as is the cut. One should leave a professional salon feeling good about themselves and how they look, not wondering how they are going to cover for the botched color and cut for the next set of weeks until someone can safely without damage correct it. I don't get my hair colored often and had not done so since Last December, so my hair was not so full of chemicals that this should have happened. I repeatedly communicated before and through this process and was assured that I would have a hairstyle like the image that was presented. The most painful part of this was (beyond the experience) the false promise, and then the cover-up that is following it. read more

My son was getting married in South Windsor. I live in northern Massachusetts and wanted to find a stylist in the South Windsor area to style my hair on the morning of the wedding. I found Epic Salon via the yelp reviews and contacted them via email and explained my situation. We corresponded several times and they set up my appointment with Nikki. They were so accommodating and courteous through the entire process. When I got there the morning of the wedding, it was pouring rain. Nikki spent a lot of time with me, curling every strand of hair. She also made sure that the rain was not going to effect the staying power of the curls. I got so many compliments on my style from the wedding guests.
