Told me I needed to bring them a doctor's note to freeze the charges as if its a gym membership of campground. I Can't bring my service animal because that would be physically impossible. I just had two phone calls with your South Windsor, CT franchise and am in disbelief at the lack of customer focus I've encountered. Late last night (Sunday 5/31), around 8:00 or so PM, I was online looking at appointments for a massage. I selected a time for Tuesday (June 6/2) in which I was not scheduled to work, which was 1:30. At 3:30 today, Monday June 1, I was called into work during that time on Tuesday I had scheduled a massage. I called Massage Envy in South Windsor and explained that I need to reschedule due to work. I was told that I would be charged $65 for changing the appointment because I was outside of the 24 hours. I explained that I did not know two hours prior that I was going to have to go into work. I was told the policy remained. I then spoke to a manager who told me the same thing. I asked to speak to someone who had the authority to change this policy. I was told no onsite person could make that change, but that they would contact the senior person over that clinic and call me back. I did get a call back and they said they would waive the $65 if I rebooked right then over the phone for the therapists open slots for next week. I said I was very reluctant to commit a week out given the hard time I was given already today about needing to change due to my work schedule. I said I would need to call that day to know what my availability was, but she said to not be charged the $65 I would need to give them a date/time today. I was then told that the senior manager of that location said that my calling to change my appointment two hours after the 24 hour policy was keeping the massage therapist from "being able to eat". I reiterated that it hadn't even been 24 hours since I made the appointment online. And it wasn't confirmed until 9:00 this morning. I called to change the appointment at 3:30. That is 6 hours that the appointment was "in effect". I completely understand lining up employees and last minute cancellations or no shows. But I didn't cancel. I called to reschedule. And was still going to be charged $65. Essentially, the appointment was confirmed and in place for only 6 hours. I have the text confirmation to verify the time Massage Envy sent a confirmation text the following morning. I have worked in customer service my entire life. And this entire situation has me appalled, baffled and unwilling to do any business with Massage Envy. I have friends who have thought about doing facials, etc and I will advise them and anyone else never to book appointments here. There is an undercurrent of a scam and it doesn't sit right with me. Two hours. I found out two hours after the 24 hour window that I needed to reschedule for work purposes. Work changes that I had just found out about. However, the lady did explain that if I had a doctor's note, they would not charge me. A doctor's note? I'm a mid-forties woman, not a middle school student. In jest I said, "so someone could forge a note from a doctor and not get this $65 charge?" She said, "yes that is the policy". Unreal. Absolutely unreal. I do not for one minute believe that an appointment that had been "live" for 6 hours is going to cause that therapist to starve, nor do I think that calling within 2 hours of a window and asking to change times should be treated with such ridiculously "policy" rigor. Again, I completely understand the intent of the policy. But the execution of this policy in the way it played out for me, leaves zero customer focus as a priority. I intend to fight the $65 with my credit card company. read more

Well, what I can say. 1- Kyle deserves a raise. 2- place is always clean, staff is always friendly & helpful, etc. 3- But, back to the star, Kyle. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and makes your session comfortable and puts you at ease. I've been seeing him regularly for a few months, and plan to continue, happily. He finds spots you didn't know you had, makes sure to focus on the areas you need and more, and always applies the right amount of pressure. I'm always leaving relaxed, refreshed, and ready to go. If I could suggest anything, it would be to not sign up for a massage membership. I tried to call and cancel my membership 9 months ago because one of the massage therapists messed my back up, but they talked me into "freezing" my account. After the 6 month freeze, they started charging me again. I had to call back to cancel my membership and they made me fill out a cancellation form. I did that a month ago, never heard anything about it, and they started charging me again. This isn't just a location specific thing, the entire company is a scam. If you're looking to get a massage every month, I'd suggest going to a smaller company that doesn't have you locked in with a contract. Massage Envy's membership is a scam that you can't get out of. Good luck, and go somewhere else if you don't want to get scammed. read more

I spoke to the Manager, "Alan" regarding a massage therapy experience. As we conversated Alan sounded very irritated. Per our conversation I felt he was bothered by my complaint. My complaint was in regards to the massage therapist-Maria. During a massage session Maria spoke continuously about HER personal life. I personally do not want to listen to anyone venting their problems while getting a massage. It is not appropriate because when I am in these sessions I just want to relax . When I expressed my sentiment to Alan he immediately responded by saying I was incorrect. He further stated that his customers go there specifically to chat with their massage therapist while they are in their sessions. In my opinion I respectfully disagree on Adams assessment on why people book a massage. I am not paying a monthly fee to listen to someone vent. I then stated I was thinking of cancelling. I felt he actually took pleasure in the mention of my cancellation by agreeing and encouraging me. If you are interested in a massage or facial book it with a local owner that values and respects their paying costumers. I had a great experience at this Massage Envy in South Windsor. The staff was nice and friendly, the therapists were great! I felt relaxed and refreshed when I left. One bit of criticism, may seem petty but this left an impression on me. Holy cow, get new lobby furniture! There are four upholstered chairs (to the left when you walk in ) that are so worn out and grungy looking I didn't want to sit for my consultation. read more

Have come here many times to get a massage. Very easy check in and you'll be relaxing in the relaxation room. I have been a member for a while now so I know what areas and pressure I like and appreciate communicating with the therapist to know what they can do better. It is my hour to relax. The layout is a little tight; the front area is really for lingering and with many people it can get crammed quickly. It is a giant circle with two doors to go in and out because again the hallways can make it feel a little too close for comfort. Once in the room, it's all for you. I have yet to take advantage of the member appreciation day because I thought that you had to be at your home location which is West Farms but actually these two locations are owned by the same owners thus a win for me as I don't have to drive all the way there. read more

I came here for the first time to get an introductory massage and am so pleased with my session! I personally like firm pressure and Aaron, my masseuse, was fantastic. Questions ahead of time helped focus on the areas that give me the most trouble and made me so relaxed at the end. The place is very clean with a lot of different services and a friendly staff. I had been a member and customer of this location since it first opened. For the most part the massages were good ans so were the masseuses, as long you understood paying for an hour equalled 50 minutes. Over time the location got busier and with my difficult work schedual it became hard to find appointments available in the early evening times with the right masseuse, and I created a backlong of credits fir unused massages that I had paid for. With covid and more free time I wanted to used the paid for massages while not continuing my active membership and having to pay for new ones until the old were used up. I was told by the owner/manager I still had to pay a fee monthly while I used what was paid for otherwise my membership would terminate and I would loose the massage sessions I ALREADY PAUD THEM FOR. I refused to pay to use what was paid for and lost at least 4 sessions! After I called another Massage Envy owned by another fanchisor and they told me the other owner could have made exceptions as they would have to let me use up what was paid for especially for a very long time customer who would have stayed otherwise . read more

I saw Grace, and she worked wonders on my sore muscles and helped me forget the stresses of the world for a blissful hour. When you arrive you go over medical history and massage expectation questions with an intake staff member. A brief tour of the facility and then you settle into a comfy chair in the relaxation room. I love the heated table, relaxing music and refreshing cucumber infused water after my massage. You can upgrade to aromatherapy, or add a foot treatment, etc, many options to choose from. They also do facials and other spa services. The membership offers a lot of discounts, but I've just been a few times over the years for a massage here or there, and they have always been wonderful. read more

It is very rare that someone actually listens when I ask for attention to be focused on specific areas and to apply extra pressure but she did! The best Massage Envy yet! If you read my other reviews on various massage Envys, you can tell that I'm not entirely impressed with this chain. Let me tell you- the South Windsor location just made me a regular member of Massage Envy. The other locations should be ENVious of this location (See what I did there?) Seriously though, from the minute I called and expressed what I needed, the woman upfront was able to give me a good recommendation on a therapist and book me for a appointment based off my work schedule. They are patient, clean, and attentive. Ben is a great therapist and I have fallen asleep on the table twice. Please don't waste your time with the other locations, you'll literally hate yourself if you do. Massages are meant to be soothing and refreshing. Make the the move and visit the South Windsor location asap! read more

I've been here a lot now so I feel comfortable leaving a review. Massage is a very personal luxury. I was rather skeptical when my husband suggested I should get a regular massage as after 3 pregnancies my body is left with pain. My first few experiences here were less than desirable. Certainly takes time to find the right fit the right massage therapist who will fit your needs, has a good ability to listen to what your needs are, problem areas, using the right amount of pressure and generally makes you feel comfortable and is professional. I found Alfonso to be great. He is very knowledgeable and is able to deliver a wide variety of massages. Experience and technique is so important weather you like a deep tissue massage or a relaxing " I can totally take a cat nap" bliss massage. On the Spa. The entrance to the spa is spacious and will put you in Zen as soon as you enter. The employees will greet you immidiately and offer you water once checked in. You will notice a wide variety of Murad skincare products on the back wall as they now offer facials here. Haven't tried the facial but will update this review once I do. The rooms are nice, clean and quiet just as you expect. There is a comfortable waiting area to relax and unwind. The restrooms are clean and offer mouthwash. Parking is limited as this spa is located in a plaza packed with small stores, sometimes you have to keep driving around to find a spot depending on the time of the day you come. My only wish is that they could be located in a larger space like at evergreen with ample parking. Overall I highly recommend this location you won't be dissapointed. read more

The two stars are only for the awesome massage I received from Curtis. He knows the muscles well and explains properly what he is doing and why. Also he adjusts as requested. Now coming to all the bad experiences I had: 1. The facials are awful. Once I had big rashes and kinda burnt marks all over. I had it at night and didn't see them. When I got up in the morning I saw the massacre. They gave me a free facial after that saying o we did not understand maybe the creams were too concentrated. What the****?? And then recently when I asked for a back facial they gave the same lady!!! You need to know about your therapists and your customers 2, they charged me extra for back facial suddenly this time and all last year I was never charged extra. They didn't even explain or call back. Nothing. 3. Their facials are always about how to make customers buy. If you are a good service you will guide customers in using natural stuff. Every item has chemicals. 4. Gave gifts to my friend for sports Massage. I explicitly mentioned his problems and requested for massage therapists sports but he got the most horrible massage. I gave feedback but no one called back. 5. They always send me to give feedback but it seems the feedback is not taken into account. This time they didn't even ask for feedback. Kinda they knew how bad it was to charge extra for a service which they charged me same all this while. There can be changes to your policy but you need to explain that to the customer. It's like they are just after money, they don't care about customer satisfaction. read more

I was recommended to this place by a friend of mine and I must say I was slightly skeptical when I heard about a "chain" massage place - that quickly changed after my experience here. I booked an hour long massage, and a facial at their introductory prices. The massage was very relaxing and soothing and the Anti - Aging facial was very refreshing. Everyone at the establishment is very polite and professional, and explain the procedures and benefits of what you are getting. After the massage and facial, they told me about their "wellness plan" which is a monthly fee of $59.99 that allows you to get one massage/month at any of their locations; you can upgrade this to a facial for only $10 more. I felt that this pricing was very reasonable considering the cost of other day spas charging $129+ for the same services. Overall it was a great experience, and I definitely will be back! read more

It was great! Went here as a wedding de-stresser the week of the wedding. Got an hour long massage... Also got a facial. Wanted to relax and this was the right place. From the second we walked in the people at the front desk asked us to sit... Followed by asking us if we wanted cucumber infused water. We filled out some paperwork and the girl made it very clear we are not to get up to give her the paper work SHE would come back to us to get it. My fiance was whisked into one room and I another. I started my massage with Barb and my fiance started her facial with moriah. My massage was good.. But honestly not the best I've had.. The room was clean and soft music was played from an overhead speaker. After 50 minutes I was told the massage was over and that moriah would be in shortly for my facial. She came in within 2 minutes and began assessing my skin needs and matching me with a facial. This was great as I have never had a facial before and had no idea what I wanted.. I knew I wanted to have a clean looking face but didn't want to break out as the wedding is 3 days away. Moriah fit me with a facial and started the steam machine. The facial was great! Overall both my fiance and I left relaxed and the service even from the moment you walk in is great! read more

Had a good experience until I cancelled my membership for financial reasons. They refused to honor my unused massages. I made 12 payments for 12 sessions and only received 9. I was told it was in my contract and that it was my fault for not reading it more carefully. Maybe they're right about that but I just want to be treated fairly regardless of the fine print. I paid for 12, I should have received 12..simple. What difference does it make if I use them this month, next month, or 6 months from now? They were paid for! I wouldn't recommend any business that tries to get over on their customers. Btw, whenever someone responds " that's just our policy" it means they don't need to explain why you're being treated unfairly. read more

I told the staff afterward and they still charged me but said I could come back and get a facial from a more experienced esthetician at the intro rate. I will never go back to a Massage Envy. I'm super impressed with this place for many reasons. As soon as I walked in I felt valued. I was welcomed, offered cucumber water, and a front desk associate named Elizabeth came and sat down with me to tell me what to expect (it was my first facial). I didn't wait long at all to be greeted early by my esthetician, Moriah. She was so friendly and again took the time to explain everything and answer my questions. She addressed my current personal skincare routine and explained in detail why certain steps may not be the best option for my skin and said she would recommend alternatives. During the facial she explained EVERYTHING she was doing and why, she asked me how things felt to make sure I was comfortable, the experience was fabulous. I absolutely signed up for a membership after that and can't wait for my next facial, I wholly believe in self care but I'm also a bargain hunter, this place meets all my needs!! A week later my skin looks awesome, and yesterday I received a handwritten card in the mail from Elizabeth thanking me for my commitment to the spa and saying that they look forward to seeing me on a regular basis. THAT is how a chain spa makes you feel like it's anything but a chain, excellent customer service. I HIGHLY recommend this location if you need self care, relaxation, and a bargain. Excellently trained therapists who help you with your massage in the session and can explain a lot too. They provide excellent facials. The products they sell are high quality. This is not a cheap place--it is a place to take care of yourself and your strained back, your sore neck and all over muscles, and to get top skin products.
