The owner seems a bit controlling. I have never had a bad experience here, but it is not my first choice as a place. The parking is nice and close to the building. The location is on a main drive. The services can be a bit expensive and you are not quoted the price before, even if there was an up charge. You were not told about that up charge in the moment. read more

Zero star!!!!! My friend & I decided to try VIP Nails & Spa today. We usually go elsewhere but they were completely booked. We walked into an empty salon (thought it was downtime). While told to pick our nail color, the woman tried to upsell gel mani/pedis. We kindly declined and I already get gel manicures with my regular nail tech on a regular basis. While we were getting our pedicures, the woman continued to sell my friend a gel manicure. My friend, being the nicest and kindest person said yes to a REGULAR manicure; and yes, the woman was obnoxiously trying to get my friend to upgrade to a gel manicure. I really should've listened to the red flags of an empty salon and DIRTY towels for pedicures. They had nail polish stains on them but to me, that's still dirty. My friend told the woman she's had surgery on her ingrown toenails so please don't cut them. The woman continued to cut the ingrown toenails to the point where my friend had to repeatedly ask her not to and she was grimacing with pain in her voice. My guy did the same thing to one of my toenails and kept trying to clean the blood off my skin for 15 minutes as if I didn't notice but I was more concern for my friend. We got the "Deluxe Pedicure" so after the scrubbing, the woman put a HOT towel on my friend and BURNED her foot (see picture). My friend let her know the towel was too hot and that she burned her foot but the tech shushed her to be quiet because there was another customer getting a pedicure. My friend wasn't any louder than normal conversational voice but she still shushed her. My friend then got upset and said she would like to pay the bill and leave. The tech now said she didn't speak much English after trying to upsell us on gel manicures and pedicures and having conversations throughout the service. I stepped in and said exactly that. She called for her boss to come out. My friend told her boss that the tech burned her foot and clipped her ingrown nails after repeatedly asking her not to. The tech and her boss looked at my friend's feet, spoke Vietnamese and laughed. At this point I am furious that my friend is quite upset. The boss said they were laughing at something else. Yeah, okay. We pay and we walk outside to talk. I asked if they charged her for her incomplete manicure and she said yes. I went back inside and ask them to refund my friend for the incomplete manicure at the very least because it was such an awful experience. The boss lady didn't want to. I did the run down of all that went wrong and she still didn't want to. So I told her that we are nurses and salons aren't certified to cut ingrown nails and if they're certified to show me the proof. She ended up refunding the manicure after that. I'm of Southeast Asian descent and they asked what my ethnicity was (at all Asian run salons I go to) because they want to know if I understand what they're saying in their native tongue. As a trilingual person, I find this extremely rude. Most cases you're saying inappropriate things when you switch to a language the person doesn't understand. I asked if they were Vietnamese because I knew they were and their faces dropped. I don't care who you are. You don't speak about hurting someone during a pedicure in your language and laugh. It gives negative vibes, period. There's no excuse for that. I would give them ZERO stars. I do NOT recommend this place for any service. This was our first time there and definitely our last time. Do not come here. Not only were the employees extremely rude to me as the customer (making rude comments about how I was sitting and such) but they would talk to each other across the store while working on the nails. I went in to get a set of acrylics and they do not have pricing posted anywhere. Additionally, my nail tech Sarah didn't treat my cuticles before starting, resulting in two of my nail beds being cut and later becoming infected. My french tips were all different sizes slightly as well. When I called to report my nails being infected the woman was very dismissive on the phone and later said the best she could do was give me a $30 gift card to the establishment. The pressure to up-charge any service you get is annoying and distracting. I called to schedule an appointment and asked for the price. With that in mind I went to the service and after receiving terrible service, I asked for a receipt and it showed the cost was $10 more than originally quoted despite me getting exactly what I had requested on the phone. Additionally, no actual manicure comes with cuticle maintenance and any shaping of the nail they do with the drill results in cuts bleeding on almost every finger. She constantly was drilling my cuticles and making me bleed. The last couple times I have been going my nails have been breaking within a few days and was constantly going back to have them fixed. This past week I called and explained that my nail had broken and asked to have it fixed. Upon arrival I walk in and told me I had to wait 45 minutes to fix one nail that had broken... keeping in mind I went 2 days prior to have a different nail fixed. I left with a pretty big cut on the side of one of my toenails which hurt to put shoes on! I have frequented this salon since it's opening and the skill level has being between 3 and 4 but this last visit was a hellish nightmare. I asked for a French gel manicure and got a mess. When I asked the technician to fixed it, the tech sitting in front of her said and I quote "we busy". The implication being I'm not. I was told to come back later which was really inconvenient but I went back. The technician was very skilled at insulting me all the while calling me "honey". I was not thrilled with the service, my previosly healthy nails are damaged and my cuticles are inflamed and painful. Even now 5 days later my cuticles are in pain. I scheduled a full gel set. When I arrived, the woman already had dip products out. When I said that I wanted a full gel set she said my nails were too short and the gel wouldn't stick. She said the dip will work better. I reluctantly agreed. When she asked about the length I wanted I used one of my nails as a gauge and said I wanted them all that length. She proceeded to not remove my overgrown cuticles and just did the dip manicure. The end result is nails that are all different lengths and shapes, none of which are the length I requested, product stuck on my skin, my cuticles flooded with product, and hang nails still on 7 out of 10 nails. read more

We had made a reservation for 3 pedicures a couple days before the appointment day. We arrived on time. We were never told by the nail tech who greeted us, that it would be a little bit of a wait. After 15 full minutes, we spoke up and were told it would be 10 more minutes. It was clear that we would be waiting longer than that based on the staffing. Typically, at a nail salon, they will at least allow you to sit in the pedicure chairs to soak your feet and get the chair massage. This was never offered to us. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon for a regular mani/pedi. I have been here for a couple times with mixed reviews. This time solidified that I won't be back. My pedicure was first- it was just ok. The gentleman doing the pedi actually cut my toe near the start, so it ended up stinging the rest of the time. After my pedi (1.5hours) they took me over to the drying chair and brought me the bill. When I explained that I wanted a manicure as well, three ladies argued over who was going to do it- one of who was lounging on one of the pedicure chairs napping. The same man that ended up doing my pedicure came out of the back room and did the mani (another hour) where he proceeded to hack at the skin around my nails. I have been trying to contact them since about 8:30 this morning to let them know that I won't be making it to my appointment today due to being sick with covid. Their voice mail wasn't connected or something, the phone would just ring them disconnect after about 20 rings. There are many great things to say about my first visit to VIP Nails & Spa! I am here currently drying my nails after having the best pedicure I've ever had. Coming from Boston, I wasn't sure I'd ever find a great salon in CT but I was proven wrong today. Got the VIP pedicure $45 and it included a salt scrub, hot towels, paraffin wax and a lengthy massage. Plus the staff greet you right when you walk in, offer you a beverage and provide a complimentary hand massage. There is light music playing and HGTV on in the background. Not a good experience. I have given this nail salon a few solid chances and each time has been less than mediocre. This time around my boyfriend and I came in for regular manicures (no gel). The man that did my manicure was inexperienced and I can tell the woman who did my boyfriend's manicure was as well. The man doing my manicure began by filing my nails, fast, uneven, and while talking to other employees. I do not mind if you are talking while doing my nails, however, please pause so that mistakes are not made. He continued on to remove my cuticles with the cuticle nipper and also left much to be desired. There were pieces of cuticle sticking up at the end of my manicure. He also did not use the cuticle pusher or the cuticle remover gel, so I requested that because there was still cuticle on my actual nail (which will cause the polish to look lumpy). When I requested this, the technician next to me said "he already did your cuticles". I explained that I wanted the cuticle pusher and he proceeded to use it without the cuticle remover gel, so was basically scraping my nail with the metal cuticle pusher. After that he went on to again use the buffer on the top of my nail... (which he previously used). If you know nails, then you know you should use the buffer sparingly because you are wearing away at your nail. Which for a healthy nail is unnecessary. The polish job was also less than mediocre. Uneven coats and lumps. If you are the owner and you are reading this. Please provide extra training to your employees. Please ensure that employees are taking their time with each customer and giving a quality experience. Customers often come to get their nails for a relaxing experience. For me, this experience was far from relaxing and I left your establishment unhappy with the results and $40 in the hole. Would not recommend. read more

This place was really nice! It was big and clean and well lit. I went in to get my acrylic set removed and have a mani. There was a large selection of polish. When I sat down I got offered something to drink and a shoulder massage, which was a nice touch. I didn't get the lady's name who was doing my nails, but she was nice. Taking off my acrylics was relatively easy but a couple nails she pulled at them so hard I thought my actual nail was gonna rip off. It was painful. I also wished she would have buffed my nails a bit more because the leftover glue kind of made the polish look slightly lumpy. She gave me a nice hand massage with lotion, but it unfortunately made my hands dry. Overall the shape of my nails was good and the polish came out alright. My experience here was really good. This place was okay. I'm currently home from college and needed a place to go to to get my dip nails redone. The place was clean and very nice inside, and the woman I had was very kind. However, she did file my nails so hard that I was bleeding on two of my fingers, and she didn't push back my cuticles! I didn't notice until I got home, by the dip isn't all the way to end of my nail. The picture I have attached is from only 4 days after the manicure! I pushed the cuticle back myself and it looks like I need to get them redone already!! I think they do this on purpose so that you come back sooner to get it redone because of how "grown out" they look. Tried it twice. First time was just ok. I did a sea salt pedicure and dip nails. Nothing to write how about. The second time, I decided to treat myself to their most luxury pedicure, as well as dipped nails. The place was not even busy at all, there were about 5 employees there, and only myself and one other customer. There was no reason to rush through my service. My hands were being done at the same time as my pedicure, so I had to uncomfortably extend my arms over the chair, and could not even enjoy my pedicure because the woman was so rough and over extending my arms. You would think if a customer was paying for your most high-priced services, you would make it a more luxurious experience for them. I felt totally rushed for no reason, and the luxury pedicure was really not very different from their regular pedicure. My feet look to no different other than shaped and painted toenails. There sanitation was also questionable, I could tell that the file and buffer have been used on someone before me without being washed because there was nail dust all over it. The tools being used also just came out of some strange looking toolbox device, I could see thought they were dirty. They advertise that they have wine, but would not give it to me because they said it was quote too early, it was 12:30 in the afternoon early to some but it was my day off and if you offer it you should offer it during all hours of opening.
