First off, from the parking attendants to the concessions staff, everyone was exceedingly polite and happy to provide information about the facility. The sight lines for hockey a great anywhere in the building, and the crowd was energetic throughout the game. We saw a 2-1 Harvard victory over St. Lawrence on 2/16/24. The arena is very rudimentary in terms of accommodations, food options inside are pretty limited to popcorn and burgers/hot dogs so that wasn't too appealing. The lighting in the arena is quite nice, they were able to put on some pretty nice effects throughout the show. Parking is plentiful outside. Unfortunately because it's near other athletic centers in Allston, it can get crowded after games and traffic can always be an issue.

I've been taking some modern Greek classes through this institute and recommend it for two very…read morebasic reasons: 1) The classes are small, taught by native Greek speakers that are teachers professionally, and they cater to skill levels from very basic (alpha, beta, gamma...) to advanced (can you decline and conjugate in all the forms?) 2) Where the heck else are you going to find modern Greek classes? Even bigger universities that do have "Greek" classes usually only offer the classics -- ancient Greek mangled and mispronounced horribly. Very few places will offer modern Greek. Worse still, non-students (like me!) are otherwise out of luck. But the Greek Institute is open to the public, provided you have the financial means -- classes aren't dirt-cheap but they're not unreasonable. On top of modern Greek, the Institute offers ancient Greek and a slew of cultural classes (Greek pop discussion, the history of Alexander the Great, et cetera); they'll even bring in some guests from time to time for special events -- Mario Frangoulis concerts being one example. The Institute itself is in an old house right on Mass Ave, it's rather unassuming looking so if you don't know it's there, you'll miss it. I only take off a star because, as mentioned before, classes and events here aren't cheap so not everyone's going to be able to shell out the cash to get their learn on. But the Institute has to stay in business as well, so I understand the reason behind the somewhat-steep prices.

There are a lot of artifacts that are well organized automatically, and that have modern informational boards accompanying them. I noticed that some artifacts were not on display and signs were present that said they were getting reviewed for cultural sensitivity. I really liked that. There was a nod to the fact that indigenous people have ownership over their histories, at least they should, and that the museum respected that. I didn't think I would enjoy the fourth floor exhibit that was mainly focused on world, fair content, but it was actually pretty cool and informative. This museum and the science museum are actually connected to each other, so that made it very convenient to check out all of the things on my wish list. Also, the admission price is very affordable if you're paying out-of-pocket. There are elevators available so that everyone can get from floor to floor to see the exhibits. This specific museum isn't huge, but the fact that it's connected to another, makes it at least a two hour plus event for anyone who plans on visiting if they want to get the richest possible experience.

Admission to the Harvard Museum of Natural History includes admission to Peabody, which is attached/connected. We had visited the natural history museum so decided to pop over to the Peabody as well. The museum has interesting artifacts but felt very dated and quite compartmentalized. We only explored for a little bit and wondered if we had missed rooms somewhere somehow! But I enjoyed exploring the Hall of the North American Indian, the Day of the Dead ofrenda, and the small exhibit on Harvard's Indian College. Worth popping into if you're visiting the natural history museum, but I wouldn't say it's must a visit during a visit to Boston.

As much as I don't like to myself there is a large spectrum of dress and even I think it has tilted too far to the casual. The acoustics are reasonable and the conductor was very entertaining. Overall, something to give a try to at least once in your life.

This is an iconic sports cathedral. Original Six NHL teams competed in this building when it was the home of the Bruins (1924-28), the Boston Celtics played here in their early days (1946-55), and a veritable who's who of eastern college hockey teams have called the old barn home. The old style entry doors and working heat registers on the walls attest to the age of this hockey haven. This venerable 113-year old building (it opened April 10, 1910) screams hockey history and is not to be missed by any true sports fan.

The Alcott's called this "Hillside" and lived here from 1845-1952. Many of the experiences Louisa…read morelater wrote about in Little Women happened at Wayside.The Alcott family aided at least 1 escaped slave to hide out here for a few weeks as part of the Underground Railroad. Nathaniel Hawthorne bought it in 1852, renamed it Wayside, and added the highest structure. He was now neighbors with the Alcott's who moved into the Orchard house just a 2-3 minute walk away. Emerson and Thoreau were frequent visitors and lived close by (it was said Louisa could see Walden Pond from her bedroom window at Orchard House). Just so many incredible connections of historical significance in Concord! This is designated as a National Historical landmark. It was not opened for tours when we visited in November. The website it says it's closed on all holidays as well as Aug 29-June 1, so plan ahead if you would like to go inside. Free designated parking area right across the street.

The Wayside is a historic house in Concord, Massachusetts. The earliest part of the home may date to 1717. Later it successively became the home of the young Louisa May Alcott and her family, who named it Hillside, author Nathaniel Hawthorne and his family, and children's writer Margaret Sidney. It became the first site with literary associations acquired by the National Park Service and is now open to the public as part of Minute Man National Historical Park. Louisa May Alcott is best known for her book Little Women and then the follow up Little Men. Nathaniel Hawthorne's best known works are The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables. Margaret Sidney was a children's book writer but is also known as the founder of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Alcott family used the home as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
