This is my first time here at the theater since the upgrade to the IMAX. We arrived on the opening night of Captain America on February 13. All of the exterior window windows were previously there were people selling you tickets have been covered in vinyl sign wrapping. This first look dates a theater. Upon walking inside, all you see is a cheesy 90s theater that has some cheap accents to try to distract you. There's some random set up of a fly grey arms chairs in two long tows back to back. They do not look comfortable and there's no way you could sit in one of these and not have your conversation clearly by the immediate chair right behind you. They have kiosks for self check in but look like the cheesy low cost version of ones at Cinemark. The concessions aesthetics are super, super cheesy looking and that includes the 90s looking bar to the right with bartenders. The concession prices are wildly expensive. The ICEE branded paper cups were very misleading and are priced at $9 with tax. The soda being dispensed was all off branded flavors-cola, blue prawns cherry. There is only one size . Oddly, when you self check out, that is where you will find the commemorative large cups for each movie in the theater. The popcorn buckets are also randomly placed. There are helpful staff guiding you through the concessions and as you fumble your way through self checkout with the same scanners used at Publix. Let's move onto the theater. We sat a couple of rows from the back in sears 13/14. I was in seat 14 and the speaker was really close. It is so insanely loud-I could not sit there. I moved to seat 11 but still I had to use my fingers the entire time to block the deafening decibels that made the movie experience not enjoyable. It was not DOLBY SURROUND SOUND. Just giant speakers not balanced. I told my husband I won't be back to see another IMAX here. The IMAX AT World Golf never had these issues. The surround sound was balanced. The screen is half the width of the one at WGV too. Barely sized to be a IMAX. Hubby liked the laser screen. The seats really suck. I am 5'2 and I had to hop into the recliner to get in. My feet were about 12 inches from the floor. The recliners we not as comfortable as the ones at Cinemark. They were like a cheap couch, hard and not buttery. My hsuanf is 6'1 and his legs were too long. The end of the foot rest hit him at his mid-calf. The controls were not the best. For some reason they have a USB CHARGER. Are we charging our phones and talking during a movie? I miss the heat that Cinemark has with their recliners because this theater is cold. Te recliners are hard on your butt to me. The theater was very clean. Tickets to IMAX are $17 a piece. The concession prices are outrageous. What you get it not worth it. But due to the deafening sound of the speakers -won't be back. My husband said he thought they were trying to do the 80s vibe but in 2025. I think it is tacky decor. He was not a fan of Epic compared to Cinemark. It's like comparing a privately owned mom and pop old school theater to a high end corporate theater. Nothing was designed with the guest in mind. We live just 10 min away but we will gladly drive to Durbin Park. Let me go home and have a Tylenol because of the headache from the poor sound. The popcorn is already bagged and not kept in a warmer like at other theaters. As a result it is not freshly popped. I don't think they get enough people here because we went on opening night of Capt America and there were 17 people in the theater. read more

The concessions area is very confusing. There was no one there taking your orders, as it is self serve/self check out. This also caused the area to be very messy (popcorn just spilled across the counter, bags randomly placed), which is a "no no" in any establishment serving food. I had to ask someone opening bags of merchandise near concessions for some nachos, as they were advertised, but nowhere in sight. The set up was just very unorganized and unsanitary. Once in the theater, we got to our seats and they were filthy. Leftover popcorn and trash from the previous screening were all over our seats. I thought the theater crew came in after each movie to clean in for the next group? Oh, and the recliners? Mine was broken and only came up 1/3 of the way. I didn't leave because my little one was super excited to watch the movie, but it was not a pleasant experience for me. Epic theater? What an Epic fail. read more

Do not like this theatre at all. Overpriced for uncomfortable seating and stale snacks.

The MOST uncomfortable seats in a theater I've ever experienced in my life. There's nothing else worth reviewing about the place because your comfort is the most important part of the experience and when I'm uncomfortable to the point it's affecting my enjoyment of the movie that's a problem. read more

Went to see a movie on a rainy evening in St. Augustine. The theater was all self-service with an attendant watching. We purchased our ticket at a kiosk. The concession area was all self-service too. I was so surprised how small the movie theater was. Only three rows with the first two rows being too close and the last row was already sold so I had to sit on the second row. Although they did have recliner chairs, they stiff and were not comfortable. read more

I recently took a trip to St. Augustine to check out the new Epic Theatres and what a treat! We enjoyed a little red carpet action, treats from the concession-complete with pour your own popcorn that's refillable. I was excited to find out that the movie we'd be watching was the highly anticipated Mufasa! We got to enjoy it in the XL IMAX theatre with comfy reclining chairs, digital surround sound with Dolby 7.1 audio, and 4K Projection! If you're a movie goer, this is the way to watch a feature film! Blurry screens, audio too loud and distorted, uncomfortable seats, most of the food/beverage service is automated. Old run down ambience. Honestly this theatre should have been closed years ago, don't waste your money here. Durbin is 30 min north and well worth the drive if you want to actually enjoy a movie. read more

First time going to this multi-screen theatre. The theatre was clean and seemed well maintained. The theatre seating was very nice being outfitted with the reclining seats and sufficiently spacious. The screen size was not overly large but decent enough given the movie had been showing for several weeks by the time we saw it. The sound system was excellent. However, when we first entered the theater there were no employees evident to check our tickets. We recently visited epic because we wanted to check out the new renovation's. While I miss the sparkling lights at the ticket window being open and don't love the kiosk for purchasing tickets, we did love the new leather recliners and clean facility! I personally love a movie for a date night and or a relaxed weekend night. I'm so glad epic upgraded the facility. I just hope we as a community support our local theater! The employees at Epic Theatres in St. Augustine are consistently friendly and do their best, but upper corporate management has completely dropped the ball on operations. The automated system is a disaster -- it eliminated good jobs and replaced them with an impersonal, frustrating setup where the credit card readers barely work. Concessions have gone downhill as well: popcorn is stale instead of fresh, and the entire area is often a disgusting mess. On our last visit, the theater itself hadn't been cleaned between showings -- popcorn and candy covered nearly every seat, and the trash cans were already overflowing before the movie even started. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was either broken or set far too high, making the theater uncomfortably hot. Finally, despite being open for nearly 20 years, there is still no adequate paved parking -- just a muddy, pothole-filled lot that becomes awful when it rains. If this weren't the only theater in town, they'd likely be out of business. A total disaster driven by poor corporate management. read more

So the facilities are quite nice. Satisfactory. However the staff is barely alive, no affect, no customer service. However that's not a big deal totally understandable. What's not ok is how dirty the theatre was, nasty, popcorn in almost every seat, paper towels everywhere, three cupholders drenched with half dried soda dripping down the seats. Overall it seemed the cleaners didn't even attempt to do a mid showing clean for hours. $86 for four people to sit in your imax chairs for two hours, $40 in concessions, and management can't bother to have the theatre before a 7:30 showing. DISGUSTING! The theatres are clean and the seats are comfortable. The prices are as you would expect for the movie theatre. I like the self checkout design of the concessions. The only con I have seen is that sometimes the counter is covered in popcorn and won't be cleaned off, but it is most likely because it is self service. read more

I haven't been a big movie goer with the crap coming out of Hollywood, but I took the chance and went to the movies with my family to watch Beetlejuice Two. I was looking forward to seeing the upgrades. Imagine my surprise that you now expect me to pay top dollar to do all the work, get my own tickets to now getting my own popcorn and drinks. I spent $80 on snacks! If you want me to do all the work then I should get $15 to $20 off of tickets and snacks. If not I could just watch it on my tv sitting on my couch. Just keep that in mind while you finish renovations. Also, I would like paper towels in the bathrooms, I don't care about fake Global Warming. Plus, it's now proven that the air dryer carries more germs than the public toilet seat. read more

I gave this theatre a 2 star rating because I love the reclin seats are great they are roomy and conformed leather and a person can pass without having to move your chair ! as for popcorn it has gone way down ! way down, the popcorn was old it was not hot ,sad the drinks were difficult to fine , could not find ice , soda was flat try to pay for it was another thing, screens not working other screens were not clear , of course the cost is the same , not less expensive have a real human serving , this was our third move we saw in this theater in the last month, it is close to our house in Saint Augustine Florida But we will not be going back sadly, we need to do better in this country, automated only works if you monitor it ! The Epic Theater in St. Augustine is going through a MAJOR remodel. The remodel is in phases and some of the updated theaters are now available for booking your seat. Wow wow wow! The reclining chairs are top of the line and are adjust label in three ways. Tilt, foot rest, and headrest position. Everything is clean and the old carpet in the main areas is removed and replaced polished concrete. Oh, the restrooms are updated too. Nice job Epic! Can't wait to come back and see the finished product. read more

Two charges a minute for 15 minutes before they unplugged their kiosks because of course they fired actual people. No answer from management. No refund. The theater itself is fine, clean, good staff, etc but DO NOT buy one of their bags of popcorn if you plan to put any of their "butter" on it!! Haven't been to the theater since before COVID (I know ). So MY MIND WAS BLOWN! ...At how super awesome this place is now!!! I've always loved going to see movies but watch at home more lately . Seating looks so very comfortable, however it is all show and no substance. They are terribly uncomfortable. They need to discard these seats and replace them with comfortable seating. AI replacing people without proper supervision and assistance is another problem. If these issues are not fixed soon they will not be here much longer. read more

This is your average theater. It is not like the fancy ones that are being built nowadays. I don't typically go to the movies, so it didn't bother me when I went with my mom and sister in law. We bought our tickets online. We were told to print them out at the kiosks when we got there or go to the ticket window. There was one person working the ticket window with a very long line and kiosks outside didn't work so we walked in. There appeared to be a different type of kiosk but people were in line for it. There was no one standing to rake our tickets so we didn't bother printing them out and just went into our theater. I went to a movie last night, it had been a while. All tickets have to be purchased at a kiosk. I guess that is okay, but then all concessions are self service. Not a fan. Not sure they this place isn't closed for construction, but would not recommend. You walk in and it looks deserted, they have a little tiny check in desk that has some candy and stale popcorn lol. The theatre is gross, I was so concerned with not touching anything I almost overheated lol or maybe that was bc of the lack of AC as well. Nice theater well kept adequately staffed. Spent a hot afternoon out of the sun in a nice cold comfortable air conditioned environment.

I've been here several times. I like it! Good location and I drive from Ponte Vedra Beach. Usually go to matinee. Hope they stay open.
