At the very end, after she wrapped my feet in warm towels, she grabbed my leg and pulled ( traction) and it really hurt. I yelped out loud. She just sort of left the room. It completely ruined the massage, because now my knee was hurting. I said something to her once I came out of the room and she was there to greet me. I told her that she probably didn't mean to hurt me, but she did. No apology, she just told me to "take care" and hurried off. I'm a long time massage therapist and I would never have treated a client that way. Very disappointing to pay all that $$ and leave upset. I really enjoy the wellness lounge, though. I have been on the wellness plan with Blake for almost 3 years now and my body loves it. I was suffering from different injuries and soreness due to working out and just life and getting older. I no longer have those daily issues, and I strongly believe it is from monthly maintenance of therapeutic massage. Now, I just completed a 7 day ReduceXS Total Body Cleansing Program. This is a detox for environmental exposures you are exposed to, as well as the food and beverages you indulge yourself in. This was a very effective program, a cleansing protocol coupled with Infrared Sauna. Easy to follow, easy to prep for, easy to stay focused on the program. I used Epic Wellness's Infrared Sauna every day while on the cleanse as part of the program to enhance the de-tox. The first day I did feel a bit headachy, but each day I have felt better and better. The most noticeable benefit to me was amazing sleep, from night 3 on. I did (and still do) also feel really great, especially on days 6 and 7, full of energy and just happy. I followed the program 100%, I didn't take any other supplements or pain relief for the mild headache. I do recommend this program to anyone looking for an easy to follow detox solution. The owner is really personable & works w. people on pricing. The 1 month unlimited package yields the best benefits regarding inflammation in our bodies as we age. Definitely makes you feel better after leaving. I've had 2 open heart surgeries in the last 2 years & have been an avid weightlifter for years now - so anything to alleviate the beating my torso has taken! I notice after a week or 2 that I am moving w. more mobility & less pain. I always look forward to visiting w. the owner. He really goes out of his way to explain the medical benefits of cryotherapy & to keep your mind occupied while standing in the chamber for the 3 minute session! This was my first visit to Epic Wellness and it WON'T be my last! I was visiting my daughter and we enjoyed the day together by starting off with a well needed massage. We were welcomed by a friendly smile and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. My massage therapist was Katie, and the 90 minute massage seemed to go by so quickly. She was very respectful and knew just how to work out those tension spots. Thank you Katie, your love and experience with greyhounds was so similar to mine with whippets. Thankfully I found Rick at Epic Wellness. I am a mature female who developed some joint/skeletal 'issues' and, following surgery, I needed to find a therapist who could address my situation with knowledge. I read many bios and reviews and decided to make an appointment with Rick. Wow. I had such a positive shift in my body. He has an incredible understanding of healing/restorative massage. I signed up for a 'plan' to reduce costs and am committed to joining Rick in doing the best I can for my body. Hot Stones are nice and relaxing. I have experienced it all, and I don't doubt that Rick can give a lovely/relaxing massage. But if you have an issue to address, this is the place to be! read more

I am a regular and am quite picky with my therapists, Terrell Gill is absolutely stellar. He is extremely knowledgeable as well as capable in finding problem areas. Terrell is quite strong as well so if you're like me and prefer a more aggressive massage, look no further. He talks when you want to talk and is quiet when you need it quiet. I have had many massage therapists over the decades so I know a great one when I have one. Getting a massage from Rick is the best way to get my body back to work without pain. He is caring and calm and you feel he wants the best for you in your recovery and maintenance of good health and balance. The deep massage is given slowly and with very little discomfort during or the day after. Post surgery or pre-surgery or just a time to relieve stress is his specialty. read more

I completely respect his massage style and understand that it may be exactly what some clients are looking for. I left feeling disappointed because I paid for a service that didn't match what was discussed beforehand.

At present, I felt a (for me) special need to receive massage therapy. I communicated prior in consultation my body's needs, and also early during our session that I needed a deeper, more systemic massage, but my communication did not impact the modality. The response I received was, "We'll see." I was not listened to. I wanted to wait a few days to monitor my biofeedback before formulating an opinion, and as some time has passed, I feel no therapeutic benefit was received. There was no felt toxin release or muscular physiological shift. My body just needs a modality that utilizes deeper pressure for systemic benefit. This would be a fine experience simply within the context of a relaxing afternoon, or if the cost was not aligned with local market rate, which is well above national averages. Unfortunately, I am going to have to continue searching for a massage therapy nearby. I only hope that this was simply an isolated experience, and not representative of the school, otherwise I feel a need to seek external influence in finding a massage therapy of value. I will not be returning to Ashland Institute of Massage, as I received no value for what I paid, which is disheartening coming from the region's education center.
