After the 3rd treatment, I started feeling so energized, and my bowel movements became more regular. I feel like Regina helped me to completely cleanse and reset my colon. I now am able to go to the bathroom 2-4 times a day when before I was only going 2-4 times a week. I was also able to incorporate a liver flush into my treatments which was also a very cleansing experience. Literally just her to answer the phone, greet walk-ins and the one actually doing the massage. So.... this means that while you are getting your massage (CASH - In Advance), don't be surprised when she takes multiple short breaks to answer the front door and/or take calls for appointments. The private room was spacious, dimly lit and had a space heater that kept the room a very comfortable temperature. Undress, lay face down and put a standard sized bath towel on yourself. Minutes later, a quick knock on the door and she gets to work. Not need for conversation, this lady clearly knows her stuff. It seems that she sought out all of the kinks and knots with fierce determination (think deep tissue /sports massage). This lady is tiny, but mighty. I had to go into my special place a couple of times to avoid crying; it needed to be done. Some men might get the wrong idea: Because she is so petite, she utilizes her elbow, knees, overhead ceiling bars and other techniques such as straddling your head (while face down) to really work out stubborn knots using leverage vs brute strength; IT WORKS! She has mad skills with that overhead bar. She has feet as small as hands and if I didn't feel a slight toenail for a split second, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. As noted in other reviews: Yeah, she gets all up in there; like a job. I was slightly concerned that the icy hot applied to my neck may make it down into my butt crack, but nope. She is very skilled, super efficient and doesn't waste time with pleasantries. There are no "curtains" anywhere; WRONG PLACE - this place only has 2 private rooms for massage *smh*. She is a very busy professional and I admire her work ethic. Just a note: I tipped $15 (25%) because she was good, but cut the massage a little short (closer to 50-55 min), had multiple interruptions to answer the front door and phone. When I put the tip on the front desk, her English suddenly got a whole lot better, "you tip me $15? why not more? I did a good job for you." I said yeah, $60 for the 1-hour body massage and $15 dollar tip. She scoffed. Um ok. I didn't want to argue so I just thanked her and left. Kinda odd, but who knows what kind of day she was having, so I didn't take it personally. I would go back again. It would be heck of a lot better if she hired a receptionist. The constant interruptions for a late morning appointment on a weekday was a little much. I would describe the massage itself as a much needed deep tissue/sports massage for a very reasonable price *no frills - thumbs up* Noticed that she uses Aveeno lotion, a version of icy hot (sparingly).

At present, I felt a (for me) special need to receive massage therapy. I communicated prior in consultation my body's needs, and also early during our session that I needed a deeper, more systemic massage, but my communication did not impact the modality. The response I received was, "We'll see." I was not listened to. I wanted to wait a few days to monitor my biofeedback before formulating an opinion, and as some time has passed, I feel no therapeutic benefit was received. There was no felt toxin release or muscular physiological shift. My body just needs a modality that utilizes deeper pressure for systemic benefit. This would be a fine experience simply within the context of a relaxing afternoon, or if the cost was not aligned with local market rate, which is well above national averages. Unfortunately, I am going to have to continue searching for a massage therapy nearby. I only hope that this was simply an isolated experience, and not representative of the school, otherwise I feel a need to seek external influence in finding a massage therapy of value. I will not be returning to Ashland Institute of Massage, as I received no value for what I paid, which is disheartening coming from the region's education center.

I thought just the opposite and that constructive feedback is important for awareness especially so improvements could be made. Staff explained that she now was able to allow me to use the steam shower and that we could use it at the same time. Puzzled, I explained my friend was showering in it now and probably wanted her privacy. Waited again before using the shower but if that were the case I may have just arrived later. Experience was very unsettling for me and it showed a lack of good customer service ability to problem solve in situations such as this. Understand that mix ups occur but disappointed in the way it was handled. No complaints about the service itself as this review is mostly for the front staff experience the day of arrival.

My husband were spending two months in Ashland and looking for a great massage therapist to help relieve some of the physical tension accumulated from a long journey and caring for our infant daughter. We each booked a 90-minute massage with hot stones with Anna. What a treat! Anna is a wonderful massage therapist and very in tune with what we needed. She created a very relaxing and comfortable environment and made sure to do everything she could to tailor the experience to our desires. She checked in about areas that needed extra attention, the type of pressure she was using, the temperature of the table, and the type of oils we would like her to use. Alison is an exceptional bodyworker. She is one of those rare therapists that maintains a clear and attuned presence with you and your body throughout the entire session. Being a massage therapist myself, I am aware when someone is just going through the motions of their sequence and when someone is listening to and responding to your specific body and needs. She is that therapist. She offers longer sessions, which are well worth the investment, and allow for deeper work and more healing in the body. I've had back pain from an injury I received over a year ago as well as a lifetime of bumps, bangs and bodily injuries. Chiropractic and Osteopathic Manipulation have helped but the pain has been constant and at times extreme. If you've read through Alison's reviews, you'll have a very good idea of what to expect in a regular massage. All of those qualities talked about are also present in her Thai massages. In addition to the intuitive and relaxing pressure work, her Thai massages maneuver the body into simple yoga-like poses for some delightful stretching. Those tight muscles disappear and the result is much greater flexibility and mobility. Thai massage is done fully clothed on floor mats so wear clothing which your body can move in freely. Each pose is gently and sensitively done as she stays in tune with what your muscles need. You don't want to miss trying a Thai massage. read more

I received Alison's wonderful massage today - her healing hands and her attention to my particular requests were reassuring, soothing and restorative. Today, I asked for something different than other times that I received from her in 2019-2021. I wanted a flow integrating massage with my energetic bodies and my physical body. I chose Heart Waters Massage based on Yelp reviews. I am soooooo happy I did! Anna was amazing! I agree with previous posters that she is intuitive, very skilled, and super nurturing. She communicated well to make sure that I was comfortable with the amount of pressure she was using, and just seemed to know what each of my muscles needed. I have been experiencing work-related neck, shoulder and arm tension, and she massaged it all away! The hot stone therapy was a bonus. I was very thankful that Michael could have me last-minute. I was in such pain and when I left I felt so much better. Michael is a kind and calm person and explained what he was doing. He was using certain techniques that made my body release tension. Just know that he does effleurage initially to make your body relax but after he will use the technique of Myofascial release and other techniques. Saw Anna for a 90 minute massage after three days of bike riding. The office space and massage room were very quiet and relaxing. She used hot packs and some aroma therapy which felt really good. Anna did a great job of gently but firmly working through my muscles allowing me to stay relaxed while still working deep. I recommend her highly. read more

At present, I felt a (for me) special need to receive massage therapy. I communicated prior in consultation my body's needs, and also early during our session that I needed a deeper, more systemic massage, but my communication did not impact the modality. The response I received was, "We'll see." I was not listened to. I wanted to wait a few days to monitor my biofeedback before formulating an opinion, and as some time has passed, I feel no therapeutic benefit was received. There was no felt toxin release or muscular physiological shift. My body just needs a modality that utilizes deeper pressure for systemic benefit. This would be a fine experience simply within the context of a relaxing afternoon, or if the cost was not aligned with local market rate, which is well above national averages. Unfortunately, I am going to have to continue searching for a massage therapy nearby. I only hope that this was simply an isolated experience, and not representative of the school, otherwise I feel a need to seek external influence in finding a massage therapy of value. I will not be returning to Ashland Institute of Massage, as I received no value for what I paid, which is disheartening coming from the region's education center.

She helped me sooo much! It is now 45 minutes after the massage and my body is much more relaxed and the pain is not with me at the moment. Expect it will come back, but I have already scheduled more massages with Chrysalis Massage Clinic and RoseAnn!

However, I was disappointed because I specifically requested a full-body deep tissue massage and asked beforehand if he was able to provide that type of treatment. He said yes, but the deep tissue portion only lasted about 15-20 minutes before transitioning back into a light Swedish-style massage. I was also not informed that he only focuses on certain sections of the body, even though I requested a full-body session. I completely respect his massage style and understand that it may be exactly what some clients are looking for. I just wish there had been more honesty and clarity upfront so I could have chosen a therapist better suited to the type of treatment I wanted. I left feeling disappointed because I paid for a service that didn't match what was discussed beforehand.

I was slightly hesitant to book with Ann because of her limited (albeit highly praising) reviews here on Yelp. After my experience I knew I needed to come back and pay it forward because she's everything you would hope for in a massage therapist - kind and intuitive, strong but relaxing, professional and yet laid back. Ann made me feel at ease immediately, asking why I came in and hoped to achieve. I use less than optimal posture at the computer 5 days a week and my quality of life has been suffering for it. I chose the Swedish Massage package with all the bells and whistles (essential oils, hot towels, hot stones, 90 minutes long-- such a treat). She had me lie on the warm massage table and began to work her magic. I walked out of the appointment feeling like a new woman. I highly recommend Ann and her hands!
