A nice, simple spot right on Lady Bird to rent paddleboards and kayaks. It's a lot more chill than Zilker. Easy check in and rental process, and they launch you straight on the water. There are lockers to put your stuff in, and they take your ID to make sure you don't run off with the board lol. It's nice that they let you launch there if you own your own kayak / paddleboard - I saw people there doing that. They have a small parking lot too. $18 per person an hour for kayaks, $22 per person an hour for paddleboards. read more

While in Austin I decided to go for a walk/hike on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail. Very very nice trail with great views of downtown and the river. While walking, I came across EpicSup. I got excited because I've been saying that I want to go kayaking. I spoke to the manager and he was very helpful and answered all my questions. I told him that I didn't have time that day, but that I would be back the next day. I came back the following day and I'm so I did. I enjoyed this experience so much! It requires a lot of paddling, so be prepared for a workout. However, it was so relaxing. I did the one hour pass and that was more than enough time to go a ways down the river and come back. While out on Lady Bird Lake, my group found ourselves stuck in some unexpectedly shallow water in a rental boat. Just when we started wondering how we were going to get out of the situation, an EpicSUP staff member went way above and beyond, leaving his post to come to our rescue. He didn't hesitate, didn't ask for anything in return -- just pure kindness and a genuine willingness to help. That kind of service speaks volumes about a business. We had a great paddle boarding experience! We came across this place on our walk around Lady Bird. The manager and staff were nice. Manager even came out to help me when I got stuck in the strong wind. They have do have lockers but no locks. Life vests are provided and on the boards. Had a great time coming on a Saturday morning with a group of 8 to SUP and kayak! The staff was very nice and helpful. They even accommodated breaking out all the payments individually. Price seems fair compared to others in the area. The only complaint I have is that parking was almost impossible! There's a small lot to park in and outside of that you have to find something along the street which is mostly taken up already due to residential apartments being all along the road. Ended up having to walk 1/4 mile but still had a great time despite that! They do have some small lockers you can hold your valuables/shoes in but bring your own lock (if they allow you to put a lock on it). Otherwise people were leaving their bags/towels/etc. on the benches. The employees were always near the area so doubt anyone would come by and take your things. read more

We really enjoyed renting a kayak from this rental service. We arrived about one hour before closing time so we could see the sunset. It was absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed viewing the austin skyline from the water. The worker didn't give us a hard time about arriving at a later time and was very helpful with setting up and lighting the kayak as well as providing us with tips to enjoy our time. The kayak rentals per hour are reasonably priced and lower priced than other services in the area. Additionally, the process was super efficient and much less complicated than services I have rented from in the past. read more

This LOW STAR IS STRICTLY BECAUSE OF THE OWNER not the staff necessarily.. We normally choose this location to rent paddle boards. Yesterday we arrived to rent a boat. The windy current was horrible yesterday past the bridge so it took us an incredibly longer time to return. We arrived at 8:19pm vs the 8pm closing time. We headed back at 6 from south 1st bridge where it normally would be ample time but unfortunately with the winds it wasn't working We signed a waiver with our telephone number per usual. No staff was to be found gates were locked and our sandals were not in sight . We left the paddle boards and took photos. Tried calling the number online but no answer so a voicemail was left. And an IG message. Next day I reached out and the company (owner ) stated yes we should've received a phone call from his staff etc. i expressed that not having our shoes to leave in and having to hop a gate 19m after closing was pretty extreme. The owner blatantly called me today with the audacity lol to tell me he's missing a paddle board and we should've been charged each one full day each !! Then has the nerve to say "I'm trying to work with you !" I GUESS HES THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS NOT AWARE OF THE MASSIVE STORM THAT OCCURRED this night and maybe just maybe that would explain the hard current and his board missing smh .. This is the owner !!! No accountability for poor customer service , no accountability for poor training of the staff to at least phone to see we were struggling etc ! And obviously no proof a board was missing as proof shows boards were left as we have no need to drag a paddle board shoeless and drag onto our Tesla stringless HAHAHA!!!! This owner has the poorest customer service ever !! Too bad he called with this attitude because the staff is way more kind then he is. This place was great! My friend and I wanted to try kayaking on Lady Bird Lake. I have kayaked before. He hasn't. I wanted to try the east side of 35 so it wouldn't be so crowded and have run by Epic SUP many a time on my jogs on the trail. I called the day prior (a Thursday) to see if we needed reservations. Told we didn't. We got there when it opened today (Friday) and were the first ones there. Crazy easy check in and Dale who was working got us in the water in no time! We stayed out about an hour due to time restrictions (had other stuff planned after it) but had a blast and my friend had a great first kayaking experience. My 75 year old mother has been wanting to try kayaking forever and I think I have now found the place to take her to try! Parking was super easy on the street. Weather was great. So! Much! Fun! This was my first time getting on a stand up paddle board and then adding the challenge of doing Yoga made it that much better. We found EpicSUP through www.limitlesssupyoga.com who I would highly recommend. Rental distribution went fairly smoothly as there was a large group of us. They gave us a basic rundown on how-to's, do's and don't's. They have lockers to store your belongings but no locks. They assured us the staff remains on the dock so our belongings would be safe (and they were). Once we were on the water is where all the fun began. Lady Bird Lake is beautiful and definitely worth a visit while in Austin! Our Uber driver found the location fairly easy. It is located adjacent to a hostel and there is a parking lot. I would love to come back and just chill on the paddle board or for another yoga session. Because I can definitely not do a handstand on land, so why not attempt it on a paddle board! read more

The experience was not good. People were stranded on the other side of the lake and the employees did nothing to help. One person tried to swim back across and started drowning and the customers had to saved him. One employee was extremely rude. I went today and the service was very subpar. The attendees were neither friendly or attentive. They rushed us onto the paddleboard without any safety precautions. They did not sanitize the boards or paddles between uses either. It was as if everyone was acting like COVID does not exist. We sanitized the equipment ourselves before riding. Social distancing standards were also very clearly ignored. The only pro was the location. I will not be returning and will go back to the paddleboard company right up the river from them. read more

Three years later I gave it another try. They gave me a tiny paddle board. Kept taking on water . Half the board was under water for most of the time I was out there. Fair prices and good gear. This was my first time SUPing on this part of the river and man... so glassy. The boards are big and stable so there was no way anyone was going to fall off. My company took 16 summer interns for an afternoon of SUP and Kayaking. Although our coordinator spoke with Dale in advance, the guys working the desk didn't have a ton of information for us. Don't get me wrong, they were super sweet (and one of them played with my dog!) but not totally prepared for our group. Once everything got going, it was a lot of fun. The interns came back with huge smiles and excited to spend a not-terribly hot day out on the lake. Things seemed to go much more smoothly for smaller groups who walked in, so here are some things I learned after taking a large group: 1. You only need (1) waiver for the entire group -- not one for every single person. 2. There are about 20ish lockers but they don't come with locks. The staff is there to watch the lockers but one of our interns got creative and brought his phone, wallet and keys in sandwich bag and put in the pocket of his trunks. 3. Everyone said that parking was easy, but I had to make a little hike after parking in front of the apartment complex across the street. 4. Signage isn't great from the street, so look for the hostel instead. 5. There isn't any nearby food, but the hostel has a cash-only vending machine. One of our staff brought a soft-sided cooler and took it out with him on the paddleboard. I highly recommend this location as it was less crowded option on the east side of I-35. If you want to get away from the crowd and won't miss the amenities of simple parking and nearby restaurants, it's a great option. I will certainly return with friends. read more

Came to this location to rent a kayak for my birthday. They have their hours listed as opening at 12pm noon, however no one was around. There is also no clear sign telling customers where to rent so you're left walking around like an idiot looking for someone. I had to go to the hotel up the hill to find some information. I messaged EpicSUP on Facebook and they responded within the hour and offered me a free hour. Update: I came by on a Saturday and the staff was very friendly and honored the comped day pass. I went to EPIC SUP for my first stand up paddle boarding experience. The employees were very helpful and informative. One of my best friends was a little nervous about getting in until one of the employees coached her through it. They also have lockers that you can place your belongings. Went here last weekend to paddle board and had a terrible experience. You do not rent the board it's more like renting the time because my brother tried to let me little sister use his board as we had 20 minutes left so she could try it out and had arrived later than the rest of us. She was not allowed to use it so when my brother went to then get his board and finish off the 20 minutes he was told his hour was up and was not allowed to continue paddling. Then myself and the other member of the party were told we had to come in because our hour was up. If they are going to rent out these boards for time they should do a better job actually tracking the time because at $19 an hour missing out on those last 20 minutes- 1/3 of the hour!!- is ridiculous. The young girl who was working was incredibly unprofessional. Overall staff was less than helpful and rude. Will not be coming back and wasting the money to deal with unreasonable staff. read more

Completely lived up to its name and we didn't even get to kayak! My husband and I tried for a spur of the moment rental with our 2 year old who wasn't having it.
