In peak season I would suggest calling two or more days ahead to be sure you are all set. This year was our second time renting from Peace paddling. We rented kayaks last year. This year we rented kayaks again and in addition we rented a boat. I have to admit Steve is a great captain and instructor. The whole process to rent the boat and kayaks is very easy. Just make sure you reserve in advance. Prices are also reasonable than other places. We enjoyed the kayaks again and had a great time on the boat ride with everything that's included. The views in this area of the lake are amazing and not crowded. Steve and his son were very nice and welcoming as well. read more

Peace Paddling offers a selection of different sizes and brands of paddle boards to choose from, a nice choice of kayaks (great for beginners), and also has a Craigcat (a cool little side-by-side powered catamaran) all available for rental at very reasonable prices. With super convenient hours, after 5 pm during weekdays and on weekends from sunrise to sunset (all by appointment only; online or via phone), you can easily go out and enjoy Lake Austin just about any time you want! Fun in the sun and a great workout to boot (esp. the stand-up paddle boards - all about the core). Todd, the proprietor, is so friendly, helpful, and provides any instruction or tips you might need. He's even willing to give you advice on what brands of crafts and where to purchase for your own personal wants and budget. Essentially, Todd's such a righteous guy, if you're interested in buying after renting a few of his, he's willing to lose the income from your rentals in order to steer you on your way to self-ownership nirvana - but unless you're going to out all of the time, renting is the super no fuss, affordable way to go! Cannot possible ask for anything more!!! The equipment, prices, and amazing customer care are all top notch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I have rented from Peace Paddling for a couple years now and continue coming back because they are easy to schedule with and Lake Austin is better (and cleaner) than the more crowded Lady Bird for kayaking. If you are using a stand up paddle board, it is more difficult here though because motorized boats are allowed. You can call or text to schedule. So excited about this spot! Reasonably priced and very friendly staff/management. It was super easy to reserve and just pop in the water. We rented a tandem kayak and it came with back rests. The area where you paddle is beautiful and not nearly as overpopulated as the downtown rental locations. It was relaxing, gorgeous and refreshing! I had a wonderful experience paddleboarding here. The check in prices was smooth. Parking was tight, but they managed to fit our car there. The physical location is disconcerting at first because you're basically standing in the front yard of someone's house, but once you get past that, everything is good. The price is average. Employees get the job done but at high traffic times, can take longer to transport you back and forth from the lake. The water itself is pristine and is a hidden gem in the Austin area. Ditch Ladybird Lake downtown and check out this spot! I'll be back. read more

Excellent place to rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards! It's the only company that rents kayaks on north Lake Austin. Easy to find (12300 River Bend) in the Steiner Ranch neighbor hood. They also have a flat bottom boat with electric motor that seats two adults and two children under age 11. Prices are great! Only $15-$20 per hour and the second hour is only $10! Helpful and friendly staff too. Best to call about one day ahead to make your reservations as they can get pretty booked. read more

I cannot express how much I enjoyed our day on the lake. A group of 9 of us rented the wake board boat for 5+ hours and I wish we did it for longer! Captain Steve was fun, told us about the area, and did what he could to give us the experience we were looking for which ended up being wake surfing, tubing, and exploring the lake. Two families had a great day out on the wakeboat tubing with Steve today! The boat is awesome, holds 8 people plus a driver (Steve)! Steve was the perfect driver - kicked things up for the crazy thrill seekers and took it down a notch for the mere fun-seekers. We rented an electric kayak boat and the motor died half way through our 2-hour time frame. I called the rep multiple times for guidance and he never answered and has never called me back. There was only one emergency paddle, so it was very difficult to try to paddle a 2-person boat back to the meeting point, against current. When we returned, all we got was comments about how we were late returning - not a mention of "I'm sorry that happened". I feel like at least an apology was in order that it was not charged properly and appropriate customer service would have been a refund. With all the options available for renting, I'll definitely go with another provider who cares at least a little about their customers. read more
